The acquisition of S-wave seismic data, separating SH (orthogonal to the seismic line) and SV (parallel to the seismic line) wavefields on the same seismic line, is not so frequent. However, this type of acquisition allows obtaining important information on the investigated area; in particular the anisotropy of the sediments, which can be detected from the differences between the corresponding two velocity fields. In this work, we analysed the SV- and SH-wave data in order to answer two questions: how can we estimate anisotropy from the comparison of the velocities of the SV and SH wavefields? What information can be obtained about the dip and strike angles of the anisotropic layers from this analysis? For this purpose, we used the travel time tomography to obtain the two velocity fields (VSV and VSH) and to exploit the computed ray paths from which we can know the directions of each ray segment crossing the model, associated with each VS component. We, then, used them, together with the with the VSV/VSH values obtained from the tomography, to estimate the anisotropy and the orientation of the anisotropic layer, defined by the slope (dip) and the azimuth angle (strike). Furthermore, we tried to define a possible relationship between the VSV and VSH components with the anisotropy parameters, the direction of the rays and the geometry of the anisotropic layer. - Abstract
Contains fulltext : 231585.pdf (publisher's version ) (Open Access), The purpose of the present note is to draw attention to the potential role of a recently discovered visual illusion in creating traffic accidents. The illusion consists in a compelling and immediate experience that the space behind an occluding object in the foreground is empty. Although the illusion refers to a region of space, which is invisible due to occlusion (a blind spot), there is evidence to suggest that it is nevertheless driven by visual mechanisms and that it can be just as deceptive and powerful as ordinary visual illusions. We suggest that this novel illusion can make situations involving blind spots in a road user's field of view even more dangerous than one would expect based on the lack of visibility by itself. This could be because it erroneously makes the road user feel that (s)he has actually seen everything there is to see, and thus has verified that the blind spot is empty. This hypothesis requires further testing before definitive conclusions can be drawn, but we wish to make researchers and authorities involved in the analysis of traffic accidents and on-the-spot crash investigations aware of its potential role in order to encourage registration of relevant data and facilitate further research.

In the present paper, the materials for making three mattress covers (an antibacterial mattress cover, a mattress cover intended for hospital use and a hypoallergenic mattress cover) were treated and tested in order to obtain basic information about the chemical treatment of fibers in the new mattress covers. The constituent components of the three mattress covers were each undersampled by cutting each layer then, it was passed to the collection of samples in small, labeled bags. Each sample was sampled over its entire layer depth, with section areas of about 1-2 cm. This paper highlights the difference in finishing treatments, depending on the areas of use of knitted materials intended for mattress covers. Thus, in addition to the differences between the solutions that are applied to these materials, we can also observe that those intended for hospital use are without preservatives and are not washed, because the whole solution is eliminated from the treatment process, the ones that are contrary to the materials from which the hypoallergenic mattress covers are made, which after each wash becomes more and more beautiful and qualitative. On the machine called Squeezing Pader Machine of Tai Ping Yang, the treatment of the materials analyzed in this work was performed, both by treatments applied to the surface of the materials and by immersion, obtaining a load with 100% solution.

The paper provides practical information on the process of valorization of textile waste. Different types of products are made from industrial and consumer waste, such as redesigned clothing, women's accessories, bags, women's purses, etc. The work presents the way of making several small accessories, respectively necklace models and earrings, made from the waste resulted in the workshop. The authors chose to make denim accessories because as we know denim is a type of fabric, usually made of cotton, and cotton is a vegetable fiber. Cotton fabrics are versatile, with good durability, breathable, hypoallergenic, with very good capacity of retaining dyes, with good resistance to abrasion, all this making it a material preferred by those who make accessories, because it provides wearing comfort. Unlike other textiles, cotton lets the skin breathe, especially during warm periods, thus naturally preventing the appearance of sweat. Both the necklace and the earrings are made from a piece of material extracted from denim waste. It was unfolded and checked from an aesthetic and qualitative point of view, on the grounds of texture and uniformity of color, then strips of material were cut out, which were assembled piece by piece, twisted, glued, and at the end for added value, decorative elements were applied.

- Abstract
Background: Physicians' adherence to guideline-recommended therapy is associated with short-term clinical outcomes in heart failure (HF) with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). However, its impact on longer-term outcomes is poorly documented. Here, we present results from the 18-month follow-up of the QUALIFY registry. Methods and results: Data at 18 months were available for 6118 ambulatory HFrEF patients from this international prospective observational survey. Adherence was measured as a continuous variable, ranging from 0 to 1, and was assessed for five classes of recommended HF medications and dosages. Most deaths were cardiovascular (CV) (228/394) and HF-related (191/394) and the same was true for unplanned hospitalizations (1175 CV and 861 HF-related hospitalizations, out of a total of 1541). According to univariable analysis, CV and HF deaths were significantly associated with physician adherence to guidelines. In multivariable analysis, HF death was associated with adherence level [subdistribution hazard ratio (SHR) 0.93, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.87–0.99 per 0.1 unit adherence level increase; P = 0.034] as was composite of HF hospitalization or CV death (SHR 0.97, 95% CI 0.94–0.99 per 0.1 unit adherence level increase; P = 0.043), whereas unplanned all-cause, CV or HF hospitalizations were not (all-cause: SHR 0.99, 95% CI 0.9–1.02; CV: SHR 0.98, 95% CI 0.96–1.01; and HF: SHR 0.99, 95% CI 0.96–1.02 per 0.1 unit change in adherence score; P = 0.52, P = 0.2, and P = 0.4, respectively). Conclusion: These results suggest that physicians' adherence to guideline-recommended HF therapies is associated with improved outcomes in HFrEF. Practical strategies should be established to improve physicians' adherence to guidelines. © 2019 The Authors. European Journal of Heart Failure © 2019 European Society of Cardiology

- Abstract
A tracer tomographic laboratory study was performed with consolidated fractured rock in three-dimensional space. The investigated fractured sandstone sample was characterized by significant matrix permeability. The laboratory transport experiments were conducted using gas-flow and gas-tracer transport techniques that enable the generation of various flow-field patterns via adjustable boundary conditions within a short experimental time period. In total, 72 gas-tracer (helium) tests were performed by systematically changing the injection and monitoring configuration after each test. For the inversion of the tracer breakthrough curves an inversion scheme was applied, based on the transformation of the governing transport equation into a form of the eikonal equation. The reliability of the inversion results was assessed with singular value decomposition of the trajectory density matrix. The applied inversion technique allowed for the three-dimensional reconstruction of the interstitial velocity with a high resolution. The three-dimensional interstitial velocity distribution shows clearly that the transport is dominated by the matrix while the fractures show no apparent influence on the transport responses

The functionality requirements involved in the choice of materials aim to ensure a state of thermophysiological, psychosensory and dynamic comfort of the wearer as well as the ergonomic requirements and functions that relate to ensuring the mobility of the body. Obtaining jeans products by knitting methods ensures the improvement of their softness and comfort capabilities. From here came the author’s idea, to carry out a study on obtaining knitted structures imitation jeans that correspond to all the requirements mentioned. For this we chose 100% cotton yarns, which we knitted in several structures, in order to be able to choose the most suitable variant for making this type of jeans. In this paper there are presented three variants of knitted structure. The results obtained from the study show that the jeans knitted using type 3 method is the one that meets the most requirements related to the realization of a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing pair of jeans even under the conditions of a home office. The knitted structure can also provide a variety of models with general comfort values that are superior to those made of fabric structures. The knitted structure was made on the sir 123 fineness 14 rectilinear knitting machine, produced by Shima Seiki in Japan. These knitting machines use, for product projection, the SDS-One graphics station or the APEX graphics station- the variant of the last generations.

The logo is a graphic element that can take the form of a letter, text, image, or even combinations of all these elements. It is used to identify a brand, product, organization or event. Any business, regardless of its size, must have a logo to define it. Nowadays, communication has become dominated by its visual composition. The world in which the rhythm is increasingly accelerated, communication strategies must emphasize what is possible to transmit instantly, with minimal effort, to the person who is looking. Starting from this premise, in this paper, we will present why it is good to create your own logo and what are the aspects to be taken into account when doing so. Well, our goal is to find a logo that has positive connotations for the business we want to promote. In this paper, a list of quality logo services and tips has been created to help people while creating an original logo for a business. Finally, we have written an idea on how to start creating a logo for a business that provides credibility in interacting with potential customers. We need a professional logo, colorful, versatile, that has positive visual impact, but at the same time it is affordable, and can be purchased by any small creative workshop.

There are different techniques that can be successfully applied for the production of 3D knitted materials or those with 3D effects on knitting machines with electronic selection. In the present work were treated different aspects of some knits with 3D embossed drawings obtained by making incomplete rows in order to obtain an embossed knit effect. The designed knit was made on the knitting rectilinear machine, CMS 530 HP 7.2, finesse 14". This machine is a new generation machine, a multigauge knitting machine. This means that the machine is of finesse 14 but it is equipped with knitting needles that can be selected so as to obtain knits of finesse 7. The drawing chosen to be embossed on the knit was transposed on a knit jacquard, made in two colors, on a knitting machine Stoll. After importing the image into the M1plus graphic program, which is a design program of STOLL knitting machines, it was placed on a jacquard structure in two colors. In the case of these knits with embossed drawings, 3D increased attention is required to the adjustments made on the knitting machine. The most important adjustment is that of the main and auxiliary pulls of the knitwear, as well as the adjustments of the looping depths for the retained stitches, but also for those made on the opposite cast iron within the incomplete rows.

Clothing belongs to the category of short-term textiles. In the field of clothing, the cycles that shape the moral wear and tear of the garment are followed at shorter and shorter intervals. If in the Middle Ages and even later clothes were bequeathed from one generation to the next, today, fashion cycles are followed from one season to the next. More and more questions are asked whether clothes are worth maintaining to reuse them next season. Can there be "ageless" clothes? Here we refer to clothing items that have a value through materiality, cut line, chromatic etc. For such "worthy" items, maintenance is a necessary process for adequate preservation, also extending the life, both physically-functionally and aesthetically. It is important not to forget that physical wear always leads to loss of both the function and the appearance for which the product was created. This is where the process of recycling both used clothing and waste left over from the manufacture of new products comes into play. Recycling brings many useful benefits both to the environment and to us as beneficiaries. This must be seen as a collective responsibility to ensure a sustainable future. Recycling is fundamental in promoting a prosperous economy, which is the new paradigm of sustainability, capable of reducing environmental implications and helping to create new opportunities, jobs in the textile industry.

In the midst of the health crisis, we are all trapped in a story that, some time ago, we could not have imagined. Our desire is not to be the witnesses of a history, but the protagonists of a change. This is why we joined the initiative of our colleagues from S.C. Astrico Nord Est S.R.L. Piatra Neamt, and we made a protective mask prototype of 100% cotton which can meet the current needs. This is intended to be a reusable protective mask, as disinfection of the mask can be washed and dried at 700 C, without damaging its properties and shape. This mask was made on the rectilinear knitting machine SIR 123 finness 14, produced by Shima Seiki from Japan. These knitting machines use, for product design, the SDS-One graphics station or the APEX graphic station - the latest generation variant. Using the technological possibilities offered by both the machine and its graphical assistance program, we aimed to attain a production efficiency, which can be achieved by finding methods to reduce the execution time as well as to increase the comfort and quality of the products made. The authors intend to create a product that can cover the needs of ordinary citizens, but also those of the interior of the medical system by giving them these masks that can be disinfected in the hospital autoclave, without the need for such high consumption of raw material, but also once fulfilling the safety conditions of the bearer.

In this paper are presented two variants of making knitted products, namely by classic knitting and by integral knitting - Wholegarment, a children's hat made of 100% Cashmir yarn. This yarn is chosen due to its superior qualities, which make it so comfortable to wear, offering increased comfort to the wearer. Being a product for children is the choice of material is of a high importance. This material is durable, adapts perfectly to any shape and fashion design concept. Another reason is the fineness and softness of the yarn, which can be worn directly on the skin, without the risk of irritation or eczema. Another very important feature is its thermal insulation, and hygroscopicity. The research was carried out in S.C. ASTRICO S.R.L.Piatra Neamt. The products were made on the rectilinear knitting machine SSR 12 SV finesse 7, produced by Shima Seiki from Japan. These knitting machines use the SDS-One graphics station or the APEX graphics station - the latest generation. Using the technological possibilities offered by both the machine and its graphic assisted program, it was intended to achieve the production efficiency, which can be done by finding ways of reducing the execution times as well as increasing the comfort and quality of the items produced.

A 3D active and passive seismic survey was carried over an aquifer in Italy. We used 1-component vertical receivers in a fine areal grid of 100x100 m. Furthermore, two orthogonal linear profiles were acquired with 3-component receivers, recording the signal of a directional vibrator in the x, y and z direction, so getting a 9-component wave field. The data allow studying the elastic propagation effects of seismic waves in the aquifer, getting independent measurements of direct P, SH and SV arrivals. The elastic parameters they provide allow exploiting the Rayleigh wave velocities obtained by passive seismic for aquifer monitoring. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
