The occurrence of multiple meningiomas (MMs) in the spinal canal is a rare clinical entity, if neurofibromatosis is absent. Only 17 cases of multiple spinal meningiomas can be found through a search on the database of pubmed. Moreover, MMs removed from the same patient usually show identical histological features. Considering the rarity of MMs with distinct histological features in the spinal compartment, we described an unusual case with two different subtypes of spinal meningiomas at entirely different levels at the same time and briefly reviewed the related literature.A 47-year-old woman presented with pain, numbness and weakness on the left arm and leg leading to the diagnosis of two intradural extramedullary spinal tumors located anterior to the spinal cord at the levels of C7 - Th2 and Th12 - L1 through magnetic resonance imaging. After successfully removal of both tumors, the histopathological examination revealed meningothelial and psammomatous meningiomas, respectively. Although multiple meningiomas in the spinal compartment is fairly uncommon, this entity should be kept in mind and we suggest screening of other regions of the spine in cases of spinal meningioma, even if without signs of neurofibromatosis. Craniopharyngioma (CP) is a rare, benign, slow-growing, but clinically aggressive tumor located mainly in the sellar and suprasellar regions. While it occurs equally in children and adults, there are two peaks in the age distribution: first in 5–14 years of age and second in 45–74 years of age. The clinical presentation varies according to the age of patients, while the predominant symptoms are visual disturbances, headache, and endocrine dysfunctions. CPs are topographically classified in several subgroups based on the relationship of the tumor to the sella, diaphragma sellae, optic chiasm, stalk, and third ventricle; whereas the pathological classification includes two types: adamantinomatous (aCP) and papillary (pCP). Distinctive features of aCP are cysts with content of “motor-oil” fluid, calcification, wet keratin, peripheral palisading of basal cells, stellate reticulum, and mutations in CTNNB1/β-catenin gene; and those of Pcp are regular stratified squamous epithelium, devoid of cilia, papillary projections, no calcification, rare cyst with a clear fluid, and mutations in BRAF V600E. The surgical approaches include transcranial (subfrontal, pterional, transcallosal, and transcortical-transventricular) and transsfenoidal approaches, having different selection criteria, advantages, and disadvantages. Despite complete resection and radiotherapy, CPs are inclined to recur causing high morbidity and mortality.

Bu araştırmada, özel gereksinimli (ÖG) öğrencisi bulunan ilkokul öğretmenlerinin sınıf yönetimlerini değerlendirmek amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaca ulaşmak için öğretmenlerin a) sınıflarında kullandıkları bilimsel dayanaklı sınıf yönetimi stratejileri, b) sergiledikleri öğrencilere yönelik etkileşim davranışları c) önleyici sınıf yönetimi stratejileri ve d) öğretmenlerin kendi sınıf yönetimlerini nasıl değerlendirdikleri ayrı ayrı incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 14 ilkokul öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Her öğretmenin sınıfında bir ÖG öğrenci bulunmaktadır. Ayrıca her sınıftan ÖG öğrenci ile cinsiyet ve yaş açısından eşleştirilmiş, normal gelişim gösteren, ortalama bir öğrenci (OÖ) belirlenmiştir. Betimsel araştırma modeli kullanılan çalışmada, araştırmacı öğretmenlerin kullandıkları stratejileri Bilimsel Dayanaklı Sınıf Yönetimi Stratejileri Gözlem Formu ve Önleyici Sınıf Yönetimi Stratejileri Gözlem Formu olmak üzere iki farklı gözlem formu ile, sınıflardan elde edilen video çekimleri üzerinden değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca her öğretmen kendi sınıf yönetimini Sınıf Yönetimi Stratejileri Öz Değerlendirme Ölçeği ile değerlendirmiştir. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre öğretmenler hem ÖG hem de OÖ için aktif katılımı sağlama, pekiştirme ve öğrenme fırsatı verme stratejilerini en fazla; geçişleri düzenleme ipucu sunma ve ön düzeltme verme stratejilerini ise en az kullanmışlardır. Öğretmenlerin ÖG ve OÖ'lere yönelik olarak kullandıkları stratejilerin sıklıkları arasında anlamlı bir farklılık yoktur ve hem ÖG hem de OÖ ile kurdukları olumlu etkileşim davranışlarının sıklığı olumsuz etkileşim davranışlarının sıklığından fazladır. Öğretmenler Önleyici Sınıf Yönetimi Stratejileri Gözlem Formu'nun sınıfın işleyiş ve düzeni, derse başlama, yönerge verme, olumlu davranışları ödüllendirme ve geçişler alt boyutlarından yüksek puan almışlardır. Öğretmenler, kendi sınıf yönetimlerini çok iyi olarak değerlendirmişler, iki öğretmen hariç tümü öz değerlendirme ölçeğinden tam puan almışlardır. Gözlem formları ve öz değerlendirme aracından elde edilen bulgular birlikte değerlendirildiğinde, öğretmenlerin kendi sınıf yönetimlerini gerçekçi bir şekilde değerlendirmedikleri, sınıflarında kullandıklarını ifade ettikleri bazı sınıf yönetimi stratejilerini çok az kullandıkları ya da hiç kullanmadıkları görülmektedir. Araştırmanın bulguları ilgili alan yazın ve Türkiye'de öğretmen yetiştiren programlarda yer alan sınıf yönetimi derslerinin içeriği temel alınarak tartışılmıştır. In this paper, it is aimed at scrutinizing the classroom management strategies used by primary school teachers who have student(s) with special needs in their classes. To this end, (a) evidence based classroom management strategies of the teachers, (b) teachers' interactional behaviors towards students, (c) teachers' preventive classroom management strategies and (d) teachers' self-assessment of their own classroom management are examined separately. The study group consists of 14 inclusive elementary school teachers. Each teacher has a student with special needs who is matched to an average student in the same age and sex and with typically development. In this descriptive research, making use of the Evidence Based Classroom Management Strategies Observation Form, Preventive Classroom Management Strategies Observation Form and of video clips of the classrooms the strategies used by the teachers have been evaluated. Furthermore, each teacher has evaluated his/her own strategies according to Classroom Management Self-Assessment Scale. It has been observed that the most used strategies for both students with and without special needs are active participation, reinforcement and opportunity to respond. On the other hand, the least used strategies for both groups have been regulation of transitions, presentation of prompts and pre-correction. According to the results, there is no significant difference in the frequency of strategies teachers employed for both students with and without special needs. The frequency of the teachers' positive interactions with both groups of students is more than negative interactions. It is also seen that teachers have high scores on Preventive Classroom Management Strategies Observation Form's sub-dimensions of functioning and order of class, beginning of lesson, giving direction, rewarding positive behaviors and transitions. According to the teachers, their classroom management is very good. Except two of them, they have had full scores from the self-assessment scale. The findings obtained from the observation forms and self-assessment scales indicate that the teachers do not realistically evaluate their classroom management and they have never or hardly use some of the strategies stated among the used ones on the self-assessment scale. Finally, the findings of the study have been discussed in the light of the pertinent literature and of the content of the classroom management courses in the teacher training programs in Turkey. Stereotaktik radyocerrahi (SRC), günümüzde birçok beyin patolojisinin tedavisinde tek başına veya diğer tedavi modaliteleriyle birlikte kullanılmaktadır. Ancak, çevre normal beyin dokusunda yüksek doza bağlı ödem ve nekroz oluşumu, baş edilmesi gereken önemli yan etkilerin başında gelmektedir. Bu yan etkilerin tedavisinde yeni kullanılmaya başlanan bevacizumab, radyonekrozun patogenezinde geniş yer bulan ve radyasyona cevap olarak ekspresyonu artan vasküler endotelyal büyüme faktörünü (VEGF) hedef almaktadır. Araştırmamızda, farklı dozlarda (%50 izodozlar 50 Gy ve 100 Gy) SRC sonrası oluşan beyin ödemi ve radyasyon hasarı üzerine anti-VEGF monoklonal antikor olan bevacizumabın etkilerini inceleyecek, ilacın profilaktik ve geç kullanımının sonuçlarını karşılaştıracak bir deneysel sıçan modeli planlandık. Çalışmanın sonuçlarında, radyonekroz 3 ile 10 hafta arasında, SRC alan tüm hayvanlarda çeşitli derecelerde oluşmuştur. Çalışmamız, radyasyon hasarının oluşum süresinin ve şiddetinin, bevacizumabın kullanım protokolüne bağlı değiştiğini, bevacizumabın radyasyon hasarı bulgularını azaltmakla birlikte, ancak profilaktik olarak başlandığında işe yaradığını ortaya koymuştur. Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) is recently used in treatment of brain pathologies alone or with other treatment modalities. But, there are some side effects as radiation injury characterized with edema and necrosis at peripheral normal tissue that should be coped with. The new treatment of this side effect is bevacizumab, which targets increased vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), one of the most prominent etiology of radiation injury. In our study, we aimed to form a rat experimental model to describe the effects of bevacizumab, an anti-VEGF monoclonal antibody, following GKS with different doses, (%50 isodose 50 Gy and 100 Gy), and to compare results of prophilactic and delayed onset use of bevacizumab. In the results of the study, radiation necrosis occurred with various degrees in all SRC exposed animals in between 3 and 10 weeks. These findings exhibit the existing time and degree of radiation injury was depended on the protocol of bevacizumab receiving; although bevacizumab decreased the signs of radiation injury, this effect was existed only after profilactic onset. 116
