3. Effects of mask use on cardiopulmonary functions and coronaphobia in the COVID-19 pandemic: an observational study among university students.

Mask use during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has been widely recommended and mandated worldwide. However, there is a lack of comprehensive research on the potential adverse health effects of mask usage. This study aimed to investigate and evaluate the negative effects of surgical mask use on scientifically proven cardiopulmonary functions in undergraduate and associate degree students, as well as its impact on coronaphobia. A total of 145 volunteer university students (49 males, 96 females, with a mean age of 20 years) were enrolled in the study, which consisted of two 120-minute sessions. Blood oxygen saturation, heart rate, and blood pressure were assessed before and immediately after each session. The Coronavirus-19 Phobia Scale was utilized to measure levels of COVID-19 phobia. While a time-dependent decrease in oxygen saturation level, blood pressure, and heart rate was measured when vital signs were evaluated at 1 and 120 minutes, none of the values fell outside the reference range. The study also investigated the effects of mask use on various symptoms including headaches, visual impairment, facial discomfort, earaches, shortness of breath, and anxiety. Significantly increased occurrences of all these symptoms were observed at the 60th and 120th minute compared with the baseline. The participants enrolled in the study demonstrated a moderate level of COVID-19 phobia based on the mean total score. Furthermore, high scores were recorded in the psychological and social sub-dimensions, while lower scores were recorded in the economic and psychosomatic sub-dimensions. In the post-COVID-19 normalization phase, the use of a surgical mask during a 120-minute course was found to have no significant impact on cardiopulmonary functions, but moderately affected coronaphobia scores. Amaç: Bu araştırma 112 acil istasyonlarında çalışan ATT ve Paramediklerin bireysel yenilikçilik düzeylerini belirlemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak yapıldı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırmanın evrenini Erzincan İl Sağlık Müdürlüğüne bağlı 112 acil istasyonlarında çalışan ATT ve Paramediklerin tamamı oluşturdu (N=115). Örneklem seçimine gidilmeden evrenin tamamı örnekleme dahil edildi (n=84). Veri toplama aracı olarak “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” ile “Bireysel Yenilikçilik Ölçeği”ni içeren anket formu kullanıldı. Katılımcıların bireysel yenilikçilik düzeylerini belirlemeye yönelik 20 soru soruldu. Anket ölçeği olarak 5‟li Likert ölçeği kullanıldı. Araştırmaya katılmaya gönüllü olan katılımcılardan ve İl Sağlık Müdürlüğü’nden yazılı/sözlü izin alındı. Veriler 01.09.2017-15.10.2017 tarihleri arasında yüz yüze görüşme yöntemiyle toplandı. Verilerin analizinde Frekans, t testi, Mann Whitney U testi, Kruskal Wallis, Tamhane T2 testleri ve Cronbach Alfa güvenilirlik katsayısı kullanıldı (α=,729). Bulgular: Katılımcıların yaş ortalamasının 27,51±5,60 olduğu, %60,7’sinin kadın, %59,5’inin ön lisan mezunu ve Paramedik olduğu, %38,1’inin 7 yıl ve üzeri yıl çalıştığı belirlendi. Ölçek toplam puanı 43,29±8,52’dir. Katılımcıların tamamının ‘Düşük Düzeyde Yenilikçi’ olduğu ve %57,1’inin ‘Gelenekçi’ olduğu belirlendi. Araştırma Tip 2 diyabetik hastalarda engel algısı ve psikososyal öz yeterlilik ilişkisini incelemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak yapıldı. Araştırmanın örneklemini Artvin Devlet Hastanesi'nde Dahiliye Polikliniğine gelen 186 diyabet hastası oluşturdu. Veriler ''Hasta Bilgi Formu'', ''Diyabet Güçlendirme Ölçeği'' ve ''Çok Boyutlu Diyabet Anketi'nin Engel Algısı Alt Ölçeği'' kullanılarak toplandı. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde Spearman korelasyon analizi, Man Whitney-U Testi, Kruskall Wallis Testi ve Shapiro Wilk Testi kullanıldı. Araştırmaya katılan hastaların yaş ortalaması 57.74±8.96 yıl , %56.5'i erkektir. Hastaların Güçlendirme Ölçeği ve Engel Algısı Alt Ölçeği toplam puan ortalaması sırasıyla 3.59±0.61ve 2.25±1.65 olarak bulundu. Purpose: This descriptive study was conducted to determine the personal innovativeness levels of the emergency medicine technicians (EMTs) and Paramedics working at 112 emergency stations. Materials and Methods: The study population consisted of the entire EMTs and Paramedics working at 112 emergency stations operating under the Provincial Health Directorate of Erzincan (N=115). No sampling was attempted and the whole population was included in the sample (n=84). As the data collection instrument, a questionnaire containing a “Personal Information Form” and the “Personal Innovativeness Scale” was used. The participants were asked 20 questions to determine their personal innovativeness levels. A 5-point Likert-type scale was used as the survey scale. Written/verbal permissions were obtained from the participants who volunteered to take part in the study and from the Provincial Health Directorate. The data were collected using the face-to-face interview method between 01.09.2017 and 15.10.2017. The data were analyzed using Frequencies, t-test, Mann Whitney U-test, Kruskal Wallis, Tamhane T2 tests, and Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient (α=0.729). Results: The mean age of the participants was 27.51±5.60; 60.7% of them were female; 59.5% were graduates of associate degree and Paramedics; and 38.1% have been working for 7 years and longer. The total score of the scale was 64.71±8.52. It was found that 44% of the participants were ‘Innovative at a Low Level’ and 48.8% of them were ‘Questioning’. Purpose: This descriptive study was conducted to determine the Glass Ceiling Syndrome perceptions of the female emergency medicine technicians (EMTs) and paramedics working at 112 emergency stations. Materials and Methods: The study population consisted of the entire female EMTs and Paramedics working at 112 emergency stations operating under the Provincial Health Directorate of Erzincan, Turkey (N=73). No sampling was attempted and the whole population was included in the sample (n=63). As the data collection instrument, a questionnaire containing a “Personal Information Form” and the “Glass Ceiling Syndrome Scale” was used. The participants were asked 35 questions to measure their glass ceiling perceptions. A 5-point Likert-type scale was used as the survey scale. Written/verbal permissions were obtained from the participants who volunteered to take part in the study and from the Provincial Health Directorate. The data were collected using the face-to-face interview method between 01.09.2017 and 15.10.2017. The data were analyzed using Frequencies, t-test, Mann Whitney U-test, Kruskal Wallis, Factor Analysis tests, and Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient (α=0.883). Results: The mean age of the participants was 26.15±4.47; 65.1% of them were married; 65.1% were graduates of associate degree; 50.8% were EMTs; and 39.7% have been working for 4-6 years. The mean total score of the scale was 1.79±0.49. The Glass Ceiling Scale was analyzed under nine subscales in line with its theoretical component. Çalışmada, İstanbul Anadolu Yakası aile şirketlerinde değişim mühendisliği, örgüt iklimi ve psikolojik sermaye kavramları ile ilgili yapılan literatür çalışmaları neticesinde firma performanslarını ne ölçüde etkileyeceğinin araştırılması hedef alınmıştır.İstanbul Anadolu Yakası'nda faaliyet gösteren küçük, orta ve büyük ölçekli aile şirketleri çalışanlarına 64 sorudan oluşan bir anket uygulanmıştır. Toplamda 310 anket değerlendirilmeye alınmıştır. Anket sonuçları için SPSS programı kullanılıp, verilen cevapların güvenilirlik analizi, faktör analizi, korelasyon analizi ve regresyon analizi yöntemleri ile incelenmiştir. Yapılan analiz çalışmasıyla, değişim mühendisliği, örgüt iklimi ve psikolojik sermayenin firma performansı üzerindeki etkisi belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır.Sonuç olarak, örgüt ikliminin ılıman olduğu işletmelerin firma performansı üzerinde önemli düzeyde anlamlı bir ilişkisinin olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Başka bir ifadeyle firma performansının artırılmasında örgüt ikliminin güçlü bir etmen olduğu belirlenmiştir. In the study of family companies in the Anatolian side of Istanbul a result of the litarature studies of reengineering, organizational climate, and psychological capital to what extent and how these affect their performance have been targeted.The Anatolian side of Istanbul that operates on small, medium and large-scale family businesses to their employees completed a questionnaire of 64 questions. 310 surveys were taken into account in total. The results of the questionnaire, the SPSS program is used whether the answers are reliability analysis, factor analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis methods were investigated. The work of this analysis, reengineering, organizational climate, and to identify the impact of psychological capital on firm performance have been made.As a result, the temperate climate on firm performance to a significant level organizational businesses a significant relationship has been found. In other words, organizational climate was determined to be a strong factor in improving firm performance. 96
