Nonlinear phenomena are key for magnon-based information processing, but the nonlinear interaction between two spin-wave signals requires their spatio-temporal overlap which can be challenging for directional processing devices. Our study focuses on a gallium-substituted yttrium iron garnet film, which exhibits an exchange-dominated dispersion relation and thus provides a particularly broad range of group velocities compared to pure YIG. Using time- and space-resolved Brillouin light scattering spectroscopy, we demonstrate the excitation of time-separated spin-wave pulses at different frequencies from the same source, where the delayed pulse catches up with the previously excited pulse and outruns it due to its higher group velocity. By varying the excitation power of the faster pulse, the outcome can be finely tuned from a linear superposition to a nonlinear interaction of both pulses, resulting in a full attenuation of the slower pulse. Cross-sectional HIV incidence estimation leverages recency test results to determine the HIV incidence of a population of interest, where recency test uses biomarker profiles to infer whether an HIV-positive individual was "recently" infected. This approach possesses an obvious advantage over the conventional cohort follow-up method since it avoids longitudinal follow-up and repeated HIV testing. In this manuscript, we consider the extension of cross-sectional incidence estimation to estimate the incidence of a different target population addressing potential population heterogeneity. We propose a general framework that incorporates two settings: one with the target population that is a subset of the population with cross-sectional recency testing data, e.g., leveraging recency testing data from screening in active-arm trial design, and the other with an external target population. We also propose a method to incorporate HIV subtype, a special covariate that modifies the properties of recency test, into our framework. Through extensive simulation studies and a data application, we demonstrate the excellent performance of the proposed methods. We conclude with a discussion of sensitivity analysis and future work to improve our framework.

Most existing traffic sign-related works are dedicated to detecting and recognizing part of traffic signs individually, which fails to analyze the global semantic logic among signs and may convey inaccurate traffic instruction. Following the above issues, we propose a traffic sign interpretation (TSI) task, which aims to interpret global semantic interrelated traffic signs (e.g.,~driving instruction-related texts, symbols, and guide panels) into a natural language for providing accurate instruction support to autonomous or assistant driving. Meanwhile, we design a multi-task learning architecture for TSI, which is responsible for detecting and recognizing various traffic signs and interpreting them into a natural language like a human. Furthermore, the absence of a public TSI available dataset prompts us to build a traffic sign interpretation dataset, namely TSI-CN. The dataset consists of real road scene images, which are captured from the highway and the urban way in China from a driver's perspective. It contains rich location labels of texts, symbols, and guide panels, and the corresponding natural language description labels. Experiments on TSI-CN demonstrate that the TSI task is achievable and the TSI architecture can interpret traffic signs from scenes successfully even if there is a complex semantic logic among signs. The TSI-CN dataset and the source code of the TSI architecture will be publicly available after the revision process.

In this paper, we investigate the issue of satellite-terrestrial computing in the sixth generation (6G) wireless networks, where multiple terrestrial base stations (BSs) and low earth orbit (LEO) satellites collaboratively provide edge computing services to ground user equipments (GUEs) and space user equipments (SUEs) over the world. In particular, we design a complete process of satellite-terrestrial computing in terms of communication and computing according to the characteristics of 6G wireless networks. In order to minimize the weighted total energy consumption while ensuring delay requirements of computing tasks, an energy-efficient satellite-terrestrial computing algorithm is put forward by jointly optimizing offloading selection, beamforming design and resource allocation. Finally, both theoretical analysis and simulation results confirm fast convergence and superior performance of the proposed algorithm for satellite-terrestrial computing in 6G wireless networks.

By effectively controlling the dipole-dipole interaction, we investigate the characteristics of the ground state of bright solitons in a spin-orbit coupled dipolar Bose-Einstein condensate. The dipolar atoms are trapped within a double-lattice which consists of a linear and a nonlinear lattice. We derive the motion equations of the different spin components, taking the controlling mechanisms of the diolpe-dipole interaction into account. An analytical expression of dipole-dipole interaction is derived. By adjusting the dipole polarization angle, the dipole interaction can be adjusted from attraction to repulsion. On this basis, we study the generation and manipulation of the bright solitons using both the analytical variational method and numerical imaginary time evolution. The stability of the bright solitons is also analyzed and we map out the stability phase diagram. By adjusting the long-range dipole-dipole interaction, one can achieve manipulation of bright solitons in all aspects, including the existence, width, nodes, and stability. Considering the complexity of our system, our results will have enormous potential applications in quantum simulation of complex systems.

Nickelate superconductors have attracted a great deal of attention over the past few decades due to their similar crystal and electronic structures with high-temperature cuprate superconductors. Here, we report the superconductivity in a pressurized Ruddlesden-Popper phase single crystal, La4Ni3O10 (n = 3), and its interplay with the density wave order in the phase diagram. With increasing pressure, the density wave order as indicated by the anomaly in the resistivity is progressively suppressed, followed by the emergence of the superconductivity around 25 K. Our angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy measurements reveal that the electronic structure of La4Ni3O10 is very similar to that of La3Ni2O7, suggesting unified electronic properties of nickelates in Ruddlesden-Popper phases. Moreover, theoretical analysis unveils that antiferromagnetic (AFM) super-exchange interactions can serve as the effective pairing interaction for the emergence of superconductivity (SC) in pressurized La4Ni3O10. With the rapid development of artificial intelligence in recent years, mankind is facing an unprecedented demand for data processing. Today, almost all data processing is performed using electrons in conventional complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) circuits. Over the past few decades, scientists have been searching for faster and more efficient ways to process data. Now, magnons, the quanta of spin waves, show the potential for higher efficiency and lower energy consumption in solving some specific problems. While magnonics remains predominantly in the realm of academia, significant efforts are being made to explore the scientific and technological challenges of the field. Numerous proof-of-concept prototypes have already been successfully developed and tested in laboratories. In this article, we review the developed magnonic devices and discuss the current challenges in realizing magnonic circuits based on these building blocks. We look at the application of spin waves in neuromorphic networks, stochastic and reservoir computing and discuss the advantages over conventional electronics in these areas. We then introduce a new powerful tool, inverse design magnonics, which has the potential to revolutionize the field by enabling the precise design and optimization of magnonic devices in a short time. Landmines remain a threat to war-affected communities for years after conflicts have ended, partly due to the laborious nature of demining tasks. Humanitarian demining operations begin by collecting relevant information from the sites to be cleared, which is then analyzed by human experts to determine the potential risk of remaining landmines. In this paper, we propose RELand system to support these tasks, which consists of three major components. We (1) provide general feature engineering and label assigning guidelines to enhance datasets for landmine risk modeling, which are widely applicable to global demining routines, (2) formulate landmine presence as a classification problem and design a novel interpretable model based on sparse feature masking and invariant risk minimization, and run extensive evaluation under proper protocols that resemble real-world demining operations to show a significant improvement over the state-of-the-art, and (3) build an interactive web interface to suggest priority areas for demining organizations. We are currently collaborating with a humanitarian demining NGO in Colombia that is using our system as part of their field operations in two areas recently prioritized for demining.

Lu5Rh6Sn18 is one of the caged-type quasiskutterudite superconductors with superconducting transition temperature Tc = 4.12 K. Here, we investigate the effect of pressure on the superconductivity in Lu5Rh6Sn18 by combining high pressure electrical transport, synchrotron x-ray diffraction (XRD) and chemical doping. Application of high pressure can enhance both the metallicity and the superconducting transition temperature in Lu5Rh6Sn18. Tc is found to show a continuous increase reaching up to 5.50 K at 11.4 GPa. Our high pressure synchrotron XRD measurements demonstrate the stability of the pristine crystal structure up to 12.0 GPa. In contrast, Tc is suppressed after the substitution of La ions in Lu sites, inducing negative chemical pressure. Topological transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) have attracted much attention due to its potential applications in spintronics and quantum computations. In this work, we systematically investigate the structural and electronic properties of topological TMDCs candidate ZrTe2 under high pressure. A pressure-induced Lifshitz transition is evidenced by the change of charge carrier type as well as the Fermi surface. Superconductivity was observed at around 8.3 GPa without structural phase transition. A typical dome-shape phase diagram is obtained with the maximum Tc of 5.6 K for ZrTe2. Furthermore, our theoretical calculations suggest the presence of multiple pressure-induced topological quantum phase transitions, which coexists with emergence of superconductivity. Layered SnAs-based Zintl compounds exhibit a distinctive electronic structure, igniting extensive research efforts in areas of superconductivity, topological insulators and quantum magnetism. In this paper, we systematically investigate the crystal structures and electronic properties of the Zintl compound SrSn2As2 under high-pressure. At approximately 20.8 GPa, pressure-induced superconductivity is observed in SrSn2As2 with a characteristic dome-like evolution of Tc. Theoretical calculations together with high pressure synchrotron X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy have identified that SrSn2As2 undergoes a structural transformation from a trigonal to a monoclinic structure. Beyond 28.3 GPa, the superconducting transition temperature is suppressed due to a reduction of the density of state at the Fermi level. Meta learning is a promising paradigm to enable skill transfer across tasks. Most previous methods employ the empirical risk minimization principle in optimization. However, the resulting worst fast adaptation to a subset of tasks can be catastrophic in risk-sensitive scenarios. To robustify fast adaptation, this paper optimizes meta learning pipelines from a distributionally robust perspective and meta trains models with the measure of expected tail risk. We take the two-stage strategy as heuristics to solve the robust meta learning problem, controlling the worst fast adaptation cases at a certain probabilistic level. Experimental results show that our simple method can improve the robustness of meta learning to task distributions and reduce the conditional expectation of the worst fast adaptation risk.

We completely determine the $\tau$-tilting finiteness of Borel-Schur algebras. To achieve this, we use two recently introduced techniques in silting theory: sign decomposition as introduced by Aoki, Higashitani, Iyama, Kase and Mizuno [arXiv:2203.15213], and symmetry of silting quivers as investigated by Aihara and the author [arXiv:2205.00472]. Viewport prediction is a crucial aspect of tile-based 360 video streaming system. However, existing trajectory based methods lack of robustness, also oversimplify the process of information construction and fusion between different modality inputs, leading to the error accumulation problem. In this paper, we propose a tile classification based viewport prediction method with Multi-modal Fusion Transformer, namely MFTR. Specifically, MFTR utilizes transformer-based networks to extract the long-range dependencies within each modality, then mine intra- and inter-modality relations to capture the combined impact of user historical inputs and video contents on future viewport selection. In addition, MFTR categorizes future tiles into two categories: user interested or not, and selects future viewport as the region that contains most user interested tiles. Comparing with predicting head trajectories, choosing future viewport based on tile's binary classification results exhibits better robustness and interpretability. To evaluate our proposed MFTR, we conduct extensive experiments on two widely used PVS-HM and Xu-Gaze dataset. This paper presents a generic approach for applying the cognitive workload recognizer by exploiting common electroencephalogram (EEG) patterns across different human-machine tasks and individual sets. We propose a neural network called SCVCNet, which eliminates task- and individual-set-related interferences in EEGs by analyzing finer-grained frequency structures in the power spectral densities. The SCVCNet utilizes a sliding cross-vector convolution (SCVC) operation, where paired input layers representing the theta and alpha power are employed. By extracting the weights from a kernel matrix's central row and column, we compute the weighted sum of the two vectors around a specified scalp location. Next, we introduce an inter-frequency-point feature integration module to fuse the SCVC feature maps. Finally, we combined the two modules with the output-channel pooling and classification layers to construct the model. To train the SCVCNet, we employ the regularized least-square method with ridge regression and the extreme learning machine theory. We validate its performance using three databases, each consisting of distinct tasks performed by independent participant groups. The average accuracy (0.6813 and 0.6229) and F1 score (0.6743 and 0.6076) achieved in two different validation paradigms show partially higher performance than the previous works. The current interacting hand (IH) datasets are relatively simplistic in terms of background and texture, with hand joints being annotated by a machine annotator, which may result in inaccuracies, and the diversity of pose distribution is limited. However, the variability of background, pose distribution, and texture can greatly influence the generalization ability. Therefore, we present a large-scale synthetic dataset RenderIH for interacting hands with accurate and diverse pose annotations. The dataset contains 1M photo-realistic images with varied backgrounds, perspectives, and hand textures. To generate natural and diverse interacting poses, we propose a new pose optimization algorithm. Additionally, for better pose estimation accuracy, we introduce a transformer-based pose estimation network, TransHand, to leverage the correlation between interacting hands and verify the effectiveness of RenderIH in improving results. Our dataset is model-agnostic and can improve more accuracy of any hand pose estimation method in comparison to other real or synthetic datasets. Experiments have shown that pretraining on our synthetic data can significantly decrease the error from 6.76mm to 5.79mm, and our Transhand surpasses contemporary methods. Kagome magnets provide a fascinating platform for the realization of correlated topological quantum phases under various magnetic ground states. However, the effect of the magnetic spin configurations on the characteristic electronic structure of the kagome lattice layer remains elusive. Here, utilizing angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and density functional theory calculations, we report the spectroscopic evidence for the spin-reorientation effect of a kagome ferromagnet Fe$_3$Ge, which is composed solely of kagome planes. As the Fe moments cant from the $c$ axis into the $ab$ plane upon cooling, the two kinds of kagome-derived Dirac fermions respond quite differently. The one with less-dispersive bands ($k_z$ $\sim$ 0) containing the $3d_{z^2}$ orbitals evolves from gapped into nearly gapless, while the other with linear dispersions ($k_z$ $\sim$ $\pi$) embracing the $3d_{xz}$/$3d_{yz}$ components remains intact, suggesting that the effect of spin reorientation on the Dirac fermions has an orbital selectivity. Moreover, we demonstrate that there is no signature of charge order formation in Fe$_3$Ge, contrasting with its sibling compound FeGe, a newly established charge-density-wave kagome magnet., Comment: 40 pages, 5 figures

Recently the discovery of superconductivity with a critical temperature Tc up to 80 K in Ruddlesden-Popper phases Lan+1NinO3n+1 (n = 2) under pressure has garnered considerable attention. Up to now, the superconductivity was only observed in La3Ni2O7 single crystal grown with the optical-image floating zone furnace under oxygen pressure. It remains to be understood the effect of chemical doping on superconducting La3Ni2O7 as well as other Ruddlesden-Popper phases. Here, we systematically investigate the effect of external pressure and chemical doping on polycrystalline Ruddlesden-Popper phases. Our results demonstrate the application of pressure and doping effectively tunes the transport properties of Ruddlesden-Popper phases. We find pressure-induced superconductivity up to 86 K in La3Ni2O7 polycrystalline sample, while no signatures of superconductivity are observed in La2NiO4 and La4Ni3O10 systems under high pressure up to 50 GPa.
