Purpose: The study aims to examine the role of green learning orientation, green knowledge acquisition and green knowledge management in fostering corporate environmental performance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in China. In addition, this research assesses the moderating role of chief executive officer (CEO) gender between green knowledge management and corporate environmental performance. Finally, this study examines the sequential mediating role of green knowledge acquisition and green knowledge management. Design/methodology/approach: The study collected the data of 300 SMEs' CEOs taken from five different provinces in China. The study used a partial least squares regression-based structural equation modelling technique. Findings: The findings revealed that green learning orientation plays an important role in increasing SMEs' corporate environmental performance. The results showed that green knowledge acquisition and green knowledge management serially and completely mediate the relationship between green learning orientation and corporate environmental performance. Originality/value: To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first study addressing the sequence of knowledge orientation, acquisition, management and results in terms of corporate environmental performance. Meanwhile, this study is the first to examine the indirect role of CEO gender on the relationship between green knowledge management and corporate environmental performance. As decisions are taken by the top management and CEO, especially in the case of SMEs, the role of top management and how well top management uses the knowledge acquired by the organization matters significantly. Conventional water and nitrogen (N) management practice in north China, comprising flood irrigation and N fertilizer broadcast (FB), limits sustainable wheat production. Drip fertigation (DF) has been widely adopted in wheat production in recent years and has effectively improved yields. However, the responses of the yield and quality to the N topdressing rate (NTR) under DF are still unclear. This study determined the responses of the wheat yield and quality to NTR under DF, as well as assessing whether DF could synergistically increase the yield and quality. A field experiment was conducted in north China for two seasons (2021–2023) using a split-plot design with three replicates. The main plot used the management practice (FB and DF) and the sub-plot had N treatment (no N applied, and NTRs of 0, 40, 80, 120, and 160 kg ha−1 with 150 kg N ha−1 as basal fertilizer, denoted as N0, T0, T40, T80, T120, and T160, respectively). Our results showed that high and saturated wheat yields (12.08 and 11.46 t ha−1) were obtained under DF at T80, and the highest yields were produced at T160 (11.71 and 11.30 t ha−1) under FB. Compared with FB, the greatest yield increase of 10.4–12.6% was achieved at T80 under DF. A higher spike number due to the increased effective stem percentage and a greater grain weight because of enhanced post-anthesis biomass production (BPpost) explained the improved yield under DF. The enhanced post-anthesis radiation use efficiency (RUE) led to the greater BPpost under DF. The enhanced specific leaf N, antioxidant capacity, and stomatal conductance under DF explained the higher light-saturated photosynthesis rate of flag leaves, which partly led to the increased post-anthesis RUE. NTR higher than 80 kg ha−1 did not enhance the yield, but it significantly improved the gliadin and glutelin contents, thereby leading to a higher total protein content, better gluten characteristics, and superior processing quality. Therefore, drip fertigation is a practical strategy for increasing both yield and quality with reduced water input and appropriate N input in irrigated winter wheat in north China. The changes in biomass (including yield), copper (Cu) concentration, and the accumulation of wheat (Triticum aestivum. L) in response to soil Cu pollution under nighttime warming had still not been explored. Hence, this study was carried out, and these variations were analyzed from a physiological perspective. Pot trials were performed at two levels of ambient temperatures (no-warming (NT) and average nighttime warming of 0.28 °C (WT)) and two levels of soil Cu concentrations (control check without Cu application (CK) and 100 mg/kg Cu application (Cu)). Soil was collected from the carbonate cinnamon soil region of central China. The warming effects of the passive nighttime warming system were prominent, and the average increment was 0.28 °C. Antioxidant enzyme activities were promoted by warming (p < 0.05) and Cu. The highest yield was achieved in NT-Cu, mainly attributed to relatively strong root activity and photosynthesis caused by supplemental Cu, but the Cu concentration in its grains was close to the threshold (10 mg/kg) for Cu concentration in foodstuff and could present a potential food safety risk. Though nighttime warming did not increase the total biomass and yield of wheat, it decreased the Cu accumulation of wheat grown in Cu-contaminated soil, especially in grains. Moreover, WT-CK and WT-Cu increased the Cu concentration in the roots and glumes and reduced the Cu concentration in grains by 13.09% and 55.84%, respectively, probably because of a lower transpiration rate. Among them, the Cu concentration of grains in WT-Cu was the lowest and significantly lower than other applications. Our findings reveal that nighttime warming has the potential to reduce the Cu risk of grains in wheat grown in the Cu-contaminated carbonate cinnamon soil region of central China and could then provide a theoretical reference for risk assessment of food quality for wheat subjected to dual stress from nighttime warming and Cu pollution. The ridge–furrow with plastic film mulching (RF) system has been widely adopted in rain-fed crop planting due to its potential to enhance crop yield and water use efficiency. However, the impact of the RF system on maize lodging resistance, particularly when nitrogen fertilizer is applied, remains uncertain. Therefore, a two-year field experiment was carried out with two planting systems (FP: flat planting and RF) and two nitrogen application rates (N180: 180 kg·N ha−1 and N300: 300 kg·N ha−1) to assess the risk of lodging in maize. The results showed that compared to FP, RF resulted in a significant increase of 78.7% in lodging rate. In addition, the lodging rate increased by 22.6% with increasing nitrogen fertilizer application. The lignin content increased by 43.4%, while the stalk bending strength rose by 42.5%, under RF compared to the FP system. These improvements in the mechanical properties of maize stalks contributed to the improved lodging resistance index of RF, which was found to be approximately 21.3% higher than that of FP. In addition, high nitrogen application rates increased the risk of lodging for different planting patterns over two years. In conclusion, fertilization of spring maize with 300 kg·N ha−1 under the RF system led to higher yields but increased lodging rates. The risk of lodging should be considered when planting maize under the RF system. Simple Summary: The phylogenetic status of the family Nitidulidae and its sister group relationship remain controversial. Also, the phylogenetic status of the subfamily Meligethinae and its phylogenetic relationships with other subfamilies of Nitidulidae are not fully understood. Mitochondrial genome sequences can be used to study species identification, phylogeny, and population genetic structure, and to provide valuable molecular markers for further genetic studies. In this paper, two complete mitochondrial genomes of Meligethinae were provided for the first time, and the phylogenetic status of the family Nitidulidae and subfamily Meligethinae were explored based on the complete mitochondrial genomes. A comparative analysis of the general characteristics and non-coding region patterns of the complete mitochondrial genomes of Meligethinus tschungseni and Brassicogethes affinis revealed that the base composition and mitochondrial genome structure of these two species are markedly different. Given the results of the phylogenetic analysis based on 20 mitochondrial genomes, the status of Nitidulidae and its sister group relationship is discussed. We also attempted to analyze the taxonomic status of Meligethinae and its sister group relationship. This study will provide a basis for further studies on the higher phylogeny of Nitidulidae. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genomes of Meligethinus tschungseni and Brassicogethes affinis (both from China) were provided, and they were compared with the existing complete mitochondrial genomes of Nitidulidae. The phylogenetic analysis among 20 species of Coleoptera was reconstructed via PhyloBayes analysis and Maximum likelihood (ML) analysis, respectively. The results showed that the full lengths of Meligethinus tschungseni and Brassicogethes affinis were 15,783 bp and 16,622 bp, and the AT contents were 77% and 76.7%, respectively. Each complete mitochondrial genome contains 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs), and a control region (A + T-rich region). All the PCGs begin with the standard start codon ATN (ATA, ATT, ATG, ATC). All the PCGs terminate with a complete terminal codon, TAA or TAG, except cox1, cox2, nad4, and nad5, which terminate with a single T. Furthermore, all the tRNAs have a typical clover-leaf secondary structure except trnS1, whose DHU arm is missing in both species. The two newly sequenced species have different numbers and lengths of tandem repeat regions in their control regions. Based on the genetic distance and Ka/Ks analysis, nad6 showed a higher variability and faster evolutionary rate. Based on the available complete mitochondrial genomes, the results showed that the four subfamilies (Nitidulinae, Meligethinae, Carpophilinae, Epuraeinae) of Nitidulidae formed a monophyletic group and further supported the sister group relationship of Nitidulidae + Kateretidae. In addition, the taxonomic status of Meligethinae and the sister group relationship between Meligethinae and Nitidulinae (the latter as currently circumscribed) were also preliminarily explored. In China, animal feeds are frequently contaminated with a range of mycotoxins, with Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) and T-2 toxin (T-2) being two highly toxic mycotoxins. This study investigates the combined nephrotoxicity of AFB1 and T-2 on PK15 cells and murine renal tissues and their related oxidative stress mechanisms. PK15 cells were treated with the respective toxin concentrations for 24 h, and oxidative stress-related indicators were assessed. The results showed that the combination of AFB1 and T-2 led to more severe cellular damage and oxidative stress compared to exposure to the individual toxins (p < 0.05). In the in vivo study, pathological examination revealed that the kidney tissue of mice exposed to the combined toxins showed signs of glomerular atrophy. The contents of oxidative stress-related indicators were significantly increased in the kidney tissue (p < 0.05). These findings suggest that the combined toxins cause significant oxidative damage to mouse kidneys. The study highlights the importance of considering the combined effects of mycotoxins in animal feed, particularly AFB1 and T-2, which can lead to severe nephrotoxicity and oxidative stress in PK15 cells and mouse kidneys. The western Sulige gas field is a new and key reserve area for the rolling development of the Sulige gas field in China. However, due to the complex gas–water relationship and the difficulty in identifying gas and water formation, the scale and benefit deployment of the gas field are seriously restricted. In particular, almost all of the wells in the area produce water, and no water measurements have been carried out for any single well, which leads to an unclear understanding of the dynamic characteristics of the production wells, thus affecting the productivity calculations of the gas wells and the overall regional productivity evaluation. Based on the testing data for a gas well, the impacts of the reservoir property parameters on the gas and water production were analyzed by combining the production performance and static geological characteristics. It was determined that the physical parameters K, Kh, and φSg had good positive correlations with gas production but not with water production; thus, effective prediction cannot be obtained for water production in gas well testing. After the analysis of the liquid-loading law, the gas wells were classified into three types: continuous liquid-carrying production, slight liquid-loading, and liquid-loading wells. In general, up to 96% of the gas wells were liquid-loaded. According to the different production performances exhibited in the different stages of the gas wells, five types of methods for diagnosing water production wells were proposed (gas testing, pilot production, gas–liquid two-phase measurement testing, liquid level detection, and production performance analysis), as well as the diagnostic criteria and corresponding solutions. To obtain real-time water production data for each well and investigate the change in the water–gas ratio (WGR) during the whole production process, a water production splitting method for gas wells based on three-dimensional geological modeling and numerical simulation combined with the constraints of the total water production of gas gathering stations was explored and established. The splitting results can be used to evaluate the water and gas productivity of gas wells and determine the best deliquification period. The gas well productivity when water production was considered was about 10% lower than that when water production was not considered. The best deliquification period was determined to be 125 days for wells with small water production, 20 days for wells with moderate water production, and 3 days for wells with serious water production. The results of this study could provide technical support for the scientific evaluation of gas well production indicators, reduction in development costs, and improvement in oil recovery. Codonopsis pilosula is a medicinal and edible herb with a rich nutritional value. In Gansu Province, China, its production quality and yield differ during the four seasons. Here, we investigated the differences in the microfloral composition and metabolic functions in the rhizospheric soil and roots of C. pilosula during the four seasons, and we also analyzed their dynamic and synergistic effects on C. pilosula growth and carbohydrate content change. The C. pilosula samples were analyzed for plant physiology, microfloral composition and metabolic functions in the rhizospheric soil and roots using high-throughput sequencing technology. Environmental indices including soil physiochemistry and meteorological conditions were also determined by the coupled chromatography–spectroscopy technique. The results revealed that the C. pilosula growth was affected by temperature, precipitation and light intensity, with the bacterial structures and functions of the soil and root samples showing obvious seasonal changes. Due to the diversity of microbial composition and community metabolic function, and the synergistic effect of microbial and environmental factors, there are significant differences in stress resistance, physiological status and metabolites of C. pilosula in different seasons. Furthermore, the change in seasons was significantly correlated with the quality and yield of C. pilosula. With the development in agricultural mechanization and information technology, orchard agricultural machinery is also constantly pursuing the goal of intelligence and efficiency. Fruit picking is the most labor-intensive part of the orchard harvesting process. In order to resolve the problems of high labor intensity, low picking efficiency, and labor shortage when harvesting dwarf high-density orchards, an automatic navigation fruit-picking platform with voice control was developed in the present study. First, the platform utilized a voice-controlled high-level extendable working platform and a fruit-box-lifting device to adapt to varying orchard planting row spacing and enable convenient fruit box loading and unloading. Second, an automatic navigation system, which employed China's Beidou navigation satellite system to acquire positional data and the Stanley algorithm for path-tracking control, was implemented. Third, the fruit-picking platform with automatic navigation system was fabricated and assembled, its outer wheel steering was measured to have a maximum angle of 30.3° and an average minimum turning radius of 4.5 m, meeting the turning radius requirements under orchard conditions. Finally, automatic navigation tests of the developed platform were performed in the orchard conditions. The results indicated that the platform could maintain a straight-line path with a maximum lateral deviation of 101.5 mm and a maximum absolute average deviation of 44.1 mm at 0.4 m/s. Under the U-shaped paths, the measured maximum lateral deviation was 148.6 mm and the maximum absolute average deviation was 57.2 mm. The navigation accuracy was sufficient to meet the requirements for the harvesting platform's routine operation in the orchards. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study investigated, in detail, the characteristics of the Late Triassic fine-grained sediments in the third member of the Xujiahe Formation (Xu-3 Member), in the Western Sichuan Depression, and the paleoenvironmental evolution during their deposition through petrological interpretation, mineralogical composition characterization, and element geochemical analysis. According to the mineralogical composition, the Xu-3 Member can be divided into two petrological types, namely clayey fine-grained felsic sedimentary rocks and lime fine-grained felsic sedimentary rocks. The main mineral components are siliceous, clay, and carbonate minerals. Through the cluster analysis of major elements, all samples could be divided into two types with different major elemental characteristics. Trace elements exhibited distinct Sr depletion, relative enrichment of large ion lithophile elements, and high field strength elements. Two REE enrichment patterns were observed, which could be attributed to differences in the provenance area and tectonic background. The paleoclimate of the sedimentary area was warm and humid, but it was hotter and drier in the southern and central parts of the depression. The change trend of paleo-productivity was consistent with the paleoclimate. The waters in the sedimentary environment were mainly brackish water to saline water, with fresh water in the southern part of the depression. The paleo-redox conditions of the waters were mainly sub-oxidation to sub-reduction, but the southern part of the depression was more oxidative. The provenance area experienced a moderate degree of chemical weathering under a warm and humid paleoclimate, same as the depositional area. Dryland winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) production plays an extremely important role in the southeast of the Loess Plateau. Planting patterns have great influence on improving soil water storage and yield, and should be matched with different seeding rates. In order to assess the effect of different sowing methods on the drought resistance and stable yield of dryland wheat, a field experiment was conducted in Wenxi County Dryland Wheat Experimental Base in Shanxi Province, China. In the current study, the effects of three planting techniques (drilling sowing, furrow sowing, and film-mulched sowing) and four seeding rates (150, 225, 300, and 375 kg ha−1) were examined on water storage, dry matter formation, yield, and water use efficiency (WUE). The results showed that furrow sowing (FS) and film-mulched sowing (FM) treatments increased soil water storage in the 0–300 cm soil layer at overwintering and jointing stages. In addition, FS and FM increased soil water consumption in the 0–300 cm soil layer from overwintering to maturity of wheat. Furthermore, FS and FM significantly increased the dry matter accumulation from the overwintering to the mature stage, promoted its accumulation in vegetative organs and translocation to grains after anthesis, viz., increased yield by 6.2% and 7.9%, and WUE by 4.6% and 5.3%, respectively, as compared with those of the drilling sowing (DS) treatments. Pearson's correlation analysis showed that grain yield had a significantly positive correlation with soil water storage at overwintering and jointing. Moreover, grain yield was significantly positively correlated with soil water consumption in the 0–300 cm soil layer from jointing to maturity. Additionally, the seeding rate of 150 kg ha−1 with FS could obtain higher WUE and grain yield. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that the seeding rate of 150 kg ha−1 is used with FS to improve the grain yield and WUE of dryland agricultural systems in China. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

(1) Background: Scopoletin and scoparone, two naturally occurring coumarins, have garnered considerable attention and have been introduced to the market in China due to their high insecticidal efficacy and low toxicity. To investigate the structure–activity relationship of these coumarins, a series of scopoletin derivatives with aryl sulfate at C7 and different substitutes at C3 were designed and synthesized, and their insecticidal activity was studied. (2) Methods: A total of 28 new scopoletin derivatives were designed and synthesized. Most target compounds exhibited moderate insecticidal activity against the phytophagous mite Tetranychus cinnabarinus and the brine shrimp Artemia salina. (3) Results: Among these compounds, compounds 5a and 5j possessed the best insecticidal activities against T. cinnabarinus, with LC50 values of 57.0 and 20.0 μg/mL, respectively, whereas that of the control drug was 15.0 μg/mL. Compound 4j exhibited selective insecticidal activities against A. salina, with an LC50 value of 9.36 μg/mL, whereas its LC50 value against T. cinnabarinus was 93.0 μg/mL. The enzymatic inhibitory activity on acetylcholinesterase (AChE) showed a consistent tendency with the insecticidal activity. Further molecular docking analyses predicted the binding conformations of these compounds, which showed a good correlation between the insecticidal activity and the binding scores. (4) Conclusions: In general, a decreased electron cloud density of the Δ3,4 olefinic bond is beneficial for improving the insecticidal activity against both T. cinnabarinus and A. salina. In addition, naphthyl or benzene groups with a sulfate ester at the C7 position could further improve the insecticidal activity against A. salina. AChE was implied to be a site of action for potential insecticidal activity. The results provide insight into the rational design of a new generation of effective coumarin insecticides. Magmatic zircon tends to present characteristic trends in trace element compositions in response to magma petrogenesis and metallogenesis, such that zircon may provide a window into melt evolution not accessible by whole rock chemistry. The Yangla large Cu deposit is located in the central part of the Jinshajiang Suture Zone, southwest China, constrained between the Jinshajiang and Yangla Faults. In this study, the trace elements and hafnium isotopic compositions of zircons from quartz diorite were studied. Previous published relevant data of Yangla granitoid plutons (i.e., dioritic enclave, granodiorite, and quartz monzonite porphyry) also have been systematically cited and discussed. The result shows that the crystallization temperature and two-stage Hf mode ages (tCDM; the age of the source rocks for the magmas) gradually increased while the oxygen fugacity (fO2) and εHf(t) values gradually decreased, corresponding to the diorite enclave (~232 Ma), through granodiorite (~208 Ma) and quartz monzonite porphyry (~202 Ma), and to quartz diorite (~195 Ma). It is suggested that four plutons were from the same three-component mixing of upper crust + lower crust + mantle magmas, while the upper crustal metasediments ratios were gradually increased from the early to late stage. The increasing upper crust inputs resulted in higher melting temperatures and compositions of the initial magma. All melts experienced distinct fractional crystallization of apatite, titanite, and amphibole, and the later granite melts experienced higher assimilation and fractional crystallization degrees than the early ones in the evolution processes four stages of intrusive rocks. These Yangla granitoids are the products of large-scale acid magmatic emplacement activities in the Triassic-early Jurassic and have a good metallogenic potential of the Cu-W polymetallic deposit. Ophiopogon japonicus is widely used as a tonic herb in China. According to the origins, MaiDong of Chinese materia medica can be classified as Zhe MaiDong (Ophiopogon japonicus in Zhejiang), Chuan MaiDong (Ophiopogon japonicus in Sichuan), Duanting Shan MaiDong (Liriope muscari), and Hubei MaiDong (Liriope spicata). In terms of quality control, polysaccharides-based evaluations have not yet been conducted. In this study, microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) was used for the preparation of polysaccharides from 29 batches of MaiDong. HPSEC-MALLS-RID and HPAEC-PAD were employed to investigate their molecular parameters and compositional monosaccharides, respectively. The ability to scavenge ABTS radicals and immune promotion abilities, in terms of nitric oxide releasing and phagocytosis on RAW 264.7 macrophages, were also compared. The results showed that polysaccharides in different MaiDong varied in molecular parameters. All polysaccharides mainly contained fructose and glucose with small amounts of arabinose, mannose, galactose, and xylose. For polysaccharides of Zhe MaiDong and Chuan MaiDong, the molar ratio of Fru to Glc was roughly 15:1 and 14:1, respectively. Zhe MaiDong exhibited better antioxidant and immune promotion activity, and so did that of fibrous roots. The pharmacological activity, however, did not account for the variation in growth years. Finally, indicators for quality control based on multivariate statistical analysis included: yield, antioxidant activity, the content of fructose, and RI signal. It was concluded that MaiDong's fibrous roots had similar components to the root, and their quality was not significantly affected by growth age. (1) Background: Psychosomatic discomfort is prevalent among adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Post-traumatic growth (PTG) has been a protective factor in earlier research. However, little is known regarding PTG among AYAs with IBD. This study investigates the generation of PTG in adolescents and young adults with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and finds positive coping skills employed in clinical nursing practice. (2) Methods: In 2021, 32 individuals were interviewed utilizing a semi-structured interview guide. This study used qualitative content analysis. (3) Results: The interviews revealed five themes: spiritual change, internalized supportiveness, cognitive re-shaping, externalized behaviors, and future-oriented thinking. (4) Conclusions: The research revealed the presence of PTG in AYAs with IBD. Purpose: This paper aims to review the research on accounting professionalisation in China to develop insights into how the research is developing, offer a critique of the research to date and outline future research directions and opportunities. Design/methodology/approach: This paper adopts a methodological approach of systematic literature review, as suggested by Tranfield et al. (2003) and Denyer and Tranfield (2009), to identify, select and analyse the extant literature on the Chinese public accounting profession. In total, 68 academic works were included in the review process. Findings: This paper finds that the extant literature has produced fruitful insights into the processes and underlying motivation of accounting professionalisation in China, demonstrating that the Chinese experience has differed, to a large extent, from the hitherto mainly Anglo-American-dominated understandings of accounting professionalisation. However, due to the lack of common theoretical vernacular and an agreed upon focus, the extant literature illustrates a fragmented and contradictory picture, making attempts to accumulate prior knowledge in the field increasingly difficult. Research limitations/implications: This paper focusses only on research published in English. Consequently, the scope of review has been limited as some works published in languages other than English may be excluded. Originality/value: This paper provides one of the pioneering exercises to systematically review the research on accounting professionalisation in China. Study of the factors controlling lacustrine source rock deposition is critical to predict potential source rocks and discover hydrocarbon reserves. Tectonic controls on source rock deposition have been a major research focus in recent decades. In this study, we integrated geochemical, geophysical, and microfossil data to investigate the effect of tectonic movements on lacustrine source rock deposition of the Wenchang Formation in Huizhou Sag, Pearl River Mouth Basin, southern China. Geochemical, geophysical, and microfossil analyses suggest that the lacustrine source rocks are characterized by high total organic carbon (TOC) contents, type I and type II1–2 kerogen, which primarily originated from aquatic organic matter (OM), and a peak oil-generation thermal maturity stage. Rift-related faults controlled the formation and distribution of two types of half-grabens in the Wenchang Formation. Synsedimentary faults created a large amount of accommodation space, making the half-grabens under-filled. Under warm and humid climatic conditions, plankton were abundant and organic matter supply was sufficient in the half-grabens of Huizhou Sag during the deposition of Wenchang Formation. Maximum flooding surfaces (mfs) created high accommodation spaces and strongly reducing conditions, which are favourable for organic-rich lacustrine source rock preservation. Source rocks close to the depocentre and slope of the half-grabens have high TOC contents. The depositional environment (i.e. the stable highly reducing conditions) of the lacustrine source rock was largely controlled by tectonics, therefore faulting activities were considered as the most important factor controlling the occurrence of lacustrine source rock. Models of lacustrine source rock deposition were established for the Wenchang Formation in the half-grabens using a multiple analysis model. This model is also suitable for investigating the deposition of other lacustrine source rocks in half-grabens with tectonic and climatic conditions similar to those of the South China Sea Basin. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to define the concept of guanxi deviant behaviour (GDB) initially on the basis of a theoretical study of guanxi, guanxi behaviour and workplace deviant behaviour and to analyse the influence of GDB and the relationship between GDB and counterproductive work behaviour.Design/methodology/approach This study collects interview data from 30 enterprise executives, summarises relevant literature from four major databases (two in English and two in Chinese) and applies a grounded theory methodology to refine and further define the core category of GDB, and the main category is interpreted and validated using triangulation.Findings The three dimensions of GDB are guanxi bribery behaviour, irregular connected transaction behaviour and guanxi allied behaviour. There are links amongst the three dimensions, no dimension has an independent existence and that is not the end of the GDB issue. Generally, the occurrence of a kind of GDB can be construed to be a preparation for the implementation of another kind, and the latter is the real purpose of the perpetrators.Social implications This paper is expected to attract the attention of managers and improve the ability of recognising, preventing and punishing GDB.Originality/value This study not only enriches organisational behaviour theory but also enhances the awareness of, and insights into, the negative effects of guanxi. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to present a detailed case study on the methods and organisational structure used for controlling the time schedule for a large and complex project. The paper discusses the use of “project controlling”, a term used to describe project control by a third-party organisation.Design/methodology/approach The researchers used action research to collect data for the case study. A member of the research team was a “participant-observer” on the project on a day-to-day basis for a period of 18 months collecting and analysing data which were subsequently analysed by a mixed methods approach.Findings The use of a “Project Controlling Unit” operated by an independent adviser organisation has significant advantages over traditional methods. It can provide timely, consolidated, independent guidance to the client and assistance to other participating organisations.Research limitations/implications The research has confirmed the effectiveness of the method on the project under study.Practical implications The findings provide guidance for enhanced project control on large complex infrastructural projects that will be of interest to other researchers, other clients and other construction organisations both within China and internationally.Social implications Organisations that seek to develop Project Controlling Units to implement the methods described in this paper will need to review their recruitment and training strategies to ensure that appropriate and experienced staffs are engaged.Originality/value The paper extends the knowledge relating to “project controlling” method. Purpose This study aims to provide a review of corporate governance in China because effective and strong corporate governance is necessary for the efficient functioning and long-term sustainability of financial markets and corporations.Design/methodology/approach The author provides a literature review of corporate governance in China through themes such as the concentration of state ownership, the degree of independence among board directors, insider trading, quality of financial disclosures and the maturity of capital markets.Findings The author reviews empirical work surrounding key corporate governance variables and identifies avenues for future research. The author finds that corporate governance mechanisms exhibit implications for firm performance, fraud, capital retention, financial constraints, institutional investors, auditing and the quality of financial disclosures. In addition, the author reviews evidence documenting the importance of independent board directors in regulation and ethical conduct.Originality/value The literature review contributes to the growing literature on responsible corporate governance and provides further understanding of the importance of business ethics for promoting the integrity and long-term sustainability of China’s capital markets and corporations and to ensure that company assets are used efficiently and productively in the best interests of investors and other stakeholders. This study offers insights to policy-makers interested in enhancing the quality of corporate governance within their nation. Hydrothermal alteration minerals are an effective prospecting indicator. Advanced spaceborne thermal emission and reflection radiometer (ASTER) satellite data are some of the most commonly adopted multispectral data for the mapping of hydrothermal alteration minerals. Compared to multispectral data, hyperspectral data have stronger ground object recognition ability. Chinese Gaofen-5 (GF-5) is the first hyperspectral satellite independently developed by China that has the advantages of both wide-width and high-spectral-resolution technology. However, the mapping ability of GF5 data for hydrothermal alteration minerals requires further study. In this study, ASTER and GF-5 satellite data were implemented to map hydrothermal alteration minerals in the Longtoushan Pb-Zn deposit, SW China. Selective principal component analysis (SPCA) technology was employed to map iron oxide/hydroxides, argillic, quartz, and carbonate minerals at the pixel level using ASTER data, and the mixture tuned matched filtering (MTMF) method was implemented for the extracted hematite, kaolinite, calcite, and dolomite at the sub-pixel level using GF-5 data. When mapping the hydrothermal alteration minerals, the distribution features of the hydrothermal alteration minerals from the Longtoushan Pb-Zn deposit were systematically revealed. A comprehensive field investigation and petrographic study were conducted to verify the extraction accuracy of the hydrothermal alteration minerals. The results showed that the overall accuracies for the ASTER and GF-5 data were 82.6 and 92.9 and that the kappa coefficients were 0.78 and 0.90, respectively. This indicates that the GF-5 data are able to map hydrothermal alteration minerals well and that they can be promoted as a hyperspectral data source for mapping systematic hydrothermal alteration minerals in the future. Core collections can act as a genetic germplasm resource for biologists and breeders. Thirty-seven phenotypic traits from 471 Miscanthus accessions in China were used to design 203 sampling schemes to screen the genetic variations in different sampling strategies. The sampling was analyzed using the unweighted pair group method with arithmetic mean (UPGMA) and the Euclidean distance (Euclid). Several parameters including the variance of phenotypic value (VPV), Shannon–Weaver diversity index (H), coefficient of variation (CV), variance of phenotypic frequency (VPF), ratio of phenotype retained (RPR), the mean difference percentage (MD%) and the variance difference percentage of traits (VD%), the range coincidence rate (CR%) and the variable rate of quantitative traits (VR%) were used to evaluate the level of representation of the primary core collections developed by the different sampling schemes. Based on the optimal sampling strategies of prior selecting accessions, a primary core collection was constructed that maintained > 99.5% of the VPV and a CR% of 100%. This study indicates that the optimal sampling scheme consisted of prior and deviation sampling methods (PD) combined with a logarithmic proportional sampling strategy (LG) of 37.4% of the actual sampling ratio. Sampling before clustering can improve several parameters including the H, CV, RPR, VPF, and CR%. Sampling strategies including the genetic diversity index (G), logarithmic proportional (LG) and the square root proportional strategy (SG) can improve the H, whilst the constant strategy (C) can improve the RPR and VPF when the sampling scale was >30%. The karst fracture-cave oil and gas reservoirs of the Yingshan Formation in the northern slope of the Tazhong Uplift are well developed and have achieved good exploration results. However, the karst fracture-cave near the top of the Yingshan Formation is basically filled with mud fillings, which seriously affect the reservoir property, and the source and filling environment of the mud fillings have been unclear. Through the petrological and geochemical analysis of the fracture-cave fillings system in the typical wells of the Yingshan Formation, it has been found that (1) the fracture-cave fillings are mainly composed of a mixture of the bedrock dissolution dissociation particles, clay minerals, and calcite cements of the Yingshan Formation, and the content of each component in the different wells or in the cave interval is quite different. (2) Rare earth element analysis shows that the rare earth distribution pattern of the fracture-cave fillings is similar to the bottom marlstone of the Lianglitage Formation, indicating that the fracture-cave fillings should be mainly derived from the early seawater of the deposition during the Lianglitage Formation. (3) Cathodoluminescence, trace element analysis, and previous studies have shown that the formation and fillings of the fractures and caves mainly occurred in the hypergene period, which had the characteristics of an oxidized environment, and that there are two filling effects. First, the limestone of the Yingshan Formation experienced the formation of karst caves due to meteoric freshwater dissolution during the exposure period, and the limestone of the Yingshan Formation was dissolved, resulting in some insoluble clay and residual limestone gravel particles brought into the cave by the meteoric freshwater for filling. Second, the seawater transgression also played an important role during the deposition of the Lianglitage Formation. The clay content in the seawater was high during the early deposition of the Lianglitage Formation, which led to the clay being brought into the caves by the seawater during the deposition of the Lianglitage Formation for further filling; at the same time, calcite deposited into the caves with the clay. The above research promotes the study of the formation mechanism of the karst cave reservoir in the Yingshan Formation and has important theoretical significance for the guiding of the next oil and gas exploration in this area. The ancient tea plant germplasm is an important resource for breeding new tea plant varieties and has great economic value. However, due to man-made and natural disturbances, it has become endangered. In order to have a better management of the conserved tea plant germplasm, it is a requirement to understand the genetic and phenotypic diversity. The aim of this study was to evaluate the genetic and phenotypic diversity of 145 ancient tea plant germplasm resources from five populations in Sandu County of Guizhou province in China. To explore the population genetics of tea plant, we successfully identified 15 simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers, which were highly polymorphic. Additionally, we applied traditional phenotypic methods to evaluate the tea plant diversity. The results suggested that the genetic and phenotypic diversity were relatively high. A total of 96 alleles were identified, and the mean polymorphic information content (PIC) value was found to be 0.66. The analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) showed that genetic variation within the populations was greater than among the populations. Overall, our results are the valuable baseline data in developing more efficient management and breeding plans for one of the most popular non-alcoholic beverage crops, the tea plant species. The average thickness of Paleogene sandstones reaches about 3000–4000 m at the northern margin of the Qaidam Basin. However, the provenance and sedimentary environment of these sandstones are uncertain; thus, more comprehensive research is needed. Integrated research is conducted on the provenance and weathering process based on petrographic characteristics, clay minerals, and geochemical compositions of sandstones in the center of the northern Qaidam Basin. The results of lithofacies analysis show that the Paleogene sandstones were mainly derived from an active continental magmatic arc, subduction accretion, or a fold-thrust belt. The average illite content in the Paleogene clay minerals is more than 50%, followed by chlorite and smectite, which reflect climatic and environmental characteristics that were arid to semi-arid, whereas the characteristics of carbon–oxygen isotopes reveal a mainly freshwater sedimentary environment. The corrected chemical index of alteration (CIAcorr) is between 56.3 and 75.7, with an average value of 66.5. These results indicate that the provenance of the Paleogene sandstones in the center of the northern Qaidam Basin mainly formed under cold and dry climatic conditions and experienced limited chemical weathering with a small amount that underwent intermediate chemical weathering under warm and humid conditions. Sugarcane is an important crop for sugar and biofuel production worldwide. It is mostly grown on hilly area by smallholders in China, which makes harvesting by a combine harvester impractical. Harvesting sugarcane by a small-scale harvester could be more practical. However, information about the impact of small-scale mechanical harvesting on soil compaction (SC), early growth and cane yield, and its yield components is still limited. The scarcity of quantitative information is equally true for the genotype and harvesting method interaction for traits describing early growth and final yield in sugarcane. Field experiments were conducted in a plant and two consequent ratoon crops (RCs) during 2016–2018 in Kaiyuan, Yunnan Province, China, to determine the impact of small-scale mechanical harvesting followed by tractor passages (SMH) on SC, sugarcane early growth and yield, and yield components, and to determine the genotype x treatment (harvesting methods, GT) interactions. The results indicated that, when compared to manual harvesting (MH), SMH significantly (p < 0.05) increased SC at 5, 10, and 20 cm depths by 0.6, 0.71, and 0.69 MPa for the first ratoon crop (RC), respectively; and increased by 1.4, 2.02, and 1.72 MPa at 10, 20, and 30 cm depths for the second RC, respectively. The amounts of underground bud bank (UBB) in RCs were nearly nine times the buds for establishing the plant crop (PC); positive correlations between the UBB and seedling counts were observed, with the highest correlations (r = 0.8453) occurring in May for the second RC. As compared with MH, stool damage and gaps were significantly higher in SMH; meanwhile, the UBB was lower in two RCs; the amount of seedlings, plant height, and height uniformity were significantly lower in SMH. Cane yield declined more in SMH, particularly declining by 20.59% from the first RC to the second RC. With respect to sugarcane production by SMH, the existence of significant GT interactions for stool damage, gaps, early seedling, millable stalks, and height uniformity at the maturing stage suggested that genotype selection trials should be conducted under the SMH rather than in MH. We performed mineralogical and geochemical analyses of core samples from the Lenghuqi area in the northern marginal tectonic belt of the Qaidam Basin. The clay mineralogy of the Xiaganchaigou Formation sandstone is dominated by I + I/S + C types and characterized by high illite, a higher mixed-layer illite/smectite and chlorite, lesser smectite, and an absence of kaolinite. The clay minerals reflect that the Oligocene sedimentary basin formed in an arid-semi-arid climate with weak leaching and chemical weathering, and that diagenesis occurred in a K+- and Mg2+-rich alkaline environment. Measured major oxide concentrations show clear correlations. The lower Xiaganchaigou Formation is representative of a dry and cold freshwater sedimentary environment, whereas the upper Xiaganchaigou Formation is warmer and more humid. Trace element and rare earth element variations indicate that the paleoclimate conditions of the lower Xiaganchaigou Formation sedimentary period were relatively cold and dry, while the upper Xiaganchaigou Formation formed under warmer and more humid climate conditions. These findings reflect a global climate of a cold and dry period from the late Eocene to early Oligocene, and a short warming period in the late Oligocene. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
