One way of exposing predatory journals is to submit a spoof article to see if it gets accepted. We investigate one journal, looking at how it has performed since a spoof paper it accepted came to light. We find that it has published almost 20% more papers following the acceptance of the spoof paper. The journal has a new web site, which appears to show that it did not publish its first paper until 2018. However, there is an old web site that lists 321 papers dating back to 2012. The editors said that this is due to a new workflow system, which meant that previously published papers could not be listed on the new web site. Moreover, the number of papers could be not accommodated, as a high configuration server would be required to provide a responsive web site. We found some plagiarism, which looks quite serious. We conclude that the spoof paper had little effect on the journal, which continues to operate, seven years after the spoof paper was accepted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article aims to examine the themes produced by students in the research paper projects of the Pedagogy course, in Distance Education modality. This research is qualitative, of documentary character. The results of the analysis indicate that students prefer to frequent themes from academic literature (ludic). It was also noticed the insufficiency or absence of the theoretical framework in the projects. The methodology used by the students was, primarily, those of bibliographic and documentary nature. Regarding the sources, it was found difficulties in defining the search websites. During the writing of the project, students used non-scientific websites, such as blogs, portals and / or news reports. The analysis of the writing of the works evidenced difficulties of the students in relation to writing texts. It concludes the importance of the professor advisor, since the very beginning of the elaboration of research projects, once it is up to the professors to instrumentalize the students for the construction of cohesive and consistent theoretical and methodological references. The increased use of data analytics and machine learning algorithms enables better prediction of land values based on various factors such as soil quality, climate, and historical performance by processing large datasets. The primary objective of this paper is to underscore the significance of addressing the topic concerning the evaluation process of agricultural land. Concurrently, it seeks to accentuate the interconnectedness across various domains of study, encompassing strategic management, agronomy, ecology, agricultural practices, and agricultural policies. Advanced technologies such as satellite imagery, remote sensing, and Geographic Information System (GIS) tools are being integrated for more accurate and efficient land valuation. In the present study, a retrospective and descriptive bibliometric analysis using the Web of Science platform was conducted, identifying 1,630 papers on the "valuation of agricultural land" from the year 2000 to 2023, which were then analyzed with VOSviewer and Microsoft Excel to generate visual representations of keyword frequency over time. The paper reveals a notable increase in published articles, emphasizing their relevance due to their economic and financial impact, with a focus on environmental sciences and economics, confirming the topic's importance and its association with ecosystem services, land use change, and willingness to pay. Winter sports are sports considered as most attractive sports all around the world. Visiting mountains gives people feeling of: relaxation, pleasure and it influences on their health and cardio vascular and respirator system. This study included sample subjects of 6 magazines, which are available on the web pages. Magazines from the period of 2009-2019 are taken into consideration i.e. magazines in the last 10 years. METHODS: Method of analysis is used for data processing. That is procedure of scientific research by breakdown of complex terms and conclusions on the simplest parts and elements. All magazines are analyzed by years and each paper is analyzed, in detail. Analysis of 6 magazines from different cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Sarajevo, Mostar, Travnik, Tuzla and Banja Luka) and one magazine from Croatia (Zagreb), showed that there is small number of papers on winter sports in sport scientific magazines. Most papers on winter sports, was founded in magazine Kinesiology Zagreb and magazine Sport Logia Banja Luka. CONCLUSION: Sport presents every aspect of entertainment, fun and play and physical exercise and through contest and competition asks for measurable effect of work i.e. sport result. Document type (DT) assignment is an important feature from literature databases. This work evaluated how the literature databases and the publisher websites labeled "Top 100" (T100) papers, a recurring act for which researchers identify and analyze the 100 most cited entities (e.g. articles) within a pre-defined literature set. T100 papers concurrently indexed in the Web of Science (WoS), Scopus and PubMed databses were identified. Among the 248 T100 papers analyzed, no general consensus or consistent pattern was found for labeling T100 papers by the three data sources and the publishers' websites. All four sources labeled between 30-40% of the T100 papers as reviews. However, PubMed mostly did not give DT labels to the rest of the papers whereas WOS, Scopus, and publisher websites labeled them as articles. The inter-rater agreement was only fair; the decision seemed to be influenced by whether the authors mentioned the word "review" suggestive of the publication/document type in the title, abstract or keywords. Abstract Website evaluation has gained considerable attention from academic researchers since the emergence of hotel websites in the late 1990 s. Previous studies have developed and adopted various methodologies and approaches for website evaluation. However, studies tracking changes in hotel website evaluation along with their rapid development have been scant. This study traces the chronological changes in website evaluation models and provides future research directions. The main findings indicate that information quality has been the main focus although different terms or expressions have been used to represent the concept. In addition, many diverse website evaluation models have been advocated in the past decade. Literature has demonstrated that online reviews from tourism-specific websites and other electronic channels (e.g., TripAdvisor) do influence tourists' decisions in all aspects. At this global era, it is relatively important to analyse the eWOM related research for obtaining more in-depth understanding and applications to this new mode of communication. The total of 110 SSCI-listed research articles related to eWOM studies since 2004 was retrieved from 18 refereed journals, all of which listed in the Web of Science, ScienceDirect and Google Scholar. By conducting content analysis approach, all research papers were systematically reviewed and analysed which generate 18 significant topical issues. As this review paper tries to retrospect and discuss the development and influential factors of eWOM, the study unveils the application in the hospitality industry and research opportunities for the future. The ParlaMint project, a CLARIN flagship initiative, seeks to standardize the representation of parliamentary data across diverse languages and regions. Version 3.0 of ParlaMint encompasses corpora from 26 European countries and autonomous regions, available for download and search under the CC-BY license. These corpora adhere to a common XML encoding schema, ensuring interoperability. This study evaluates the feasibility of applying the ParlaMint schema to the proceedings of the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa. Through the conversion of a randomly selected parliamentary session, we scrutinize how various elements are modelled, delineating the steps required to initiate a comprehensive encoding endeavour. The experiment starts with data retrieval by downloading Hansard records from the South African Parliament website. An English session was selected to streamline processing for non-South African researchers. The original format consisted of session headers, metadata, introductory messages, and debate records. Speeches were identified by uppercase headers and segmented into paragraphs. Transcript conversion entailed extracting data from the PDF, eliminating technical elements, and ensuring continuity of utterances. Speaker names and functionswere identified, and the sessionwas transformed into ParlaMint-compliant TEI XML format. Meta-comments, including applause, laughter, and interruptions, were categorized based on typical phrases. Quotations, marked with indentation in the original transcript, were manually encoded as TEI elements. Foreign-language fragments were treated as gaps, with English translations provided. Multiparagraph foreign utterances were encoded paragraph by paragraph. Speaker metadata was stored in separate XML files, listing organizations and individual speakers. Speaker names and roles were converted into XML IDs, and web pages were linked for additional information. Speaker type was designated based on metadata, distinguishing between chairs, guests, and regular speakers. The encoded session comprised 95 utterances, with varying distributions among speakers. The proposed conversion process serves as a starting point for the larger endeavour of encoding South African parliamentary data in the ParlaMint schema. We present a method of setting up a website using the Drupal CMS to publish CRM data. Our setup requires basic technical expertise by researchers who are then able to publish their records in both a human accessible way through HTML and a machine friendly format through RDFa. We begin by examining previous work on Drupal and the CRM and identifying useful patterns. We present the Drupal modules that are required by our setup and we explain why these are sustainable. We continue by giving guidelines for setting up Drupal to serve CRM data easily and we describe a specific installation for our case study which is related to decorated papers alongside our CRM mapping. We finish with highlighting the benefits of our method (i.e. speed and user-friendliness) and we refer to a number of issues which require further work (i.e. automatic validation, UI improvements and the provision for SPARQL endpoints). Accurately assigning the document type of review articles in citation index databases like Web of Science(WoS) and Scopus is important. This study aims to investigate the document type assignation of review articles in Web of Science, Scopus and Publisher's websites on a large scale. 27,616 papers from 160 journals from 10 review journal series indexed in SCI are analyzed. The document types of these papers labeled on journals' websites, and assigned by WoS and Scopus are retrieved and compared to determine the assigning accuracy and identify the possible reasons for wrongly assigning. For the document type labeled on the website, we further differentiate them into explicit review and implicit review based on whether the website directly indicates it is a review or not. Overall, WoS and Scopus performed similarly, with an average precision of about 99% and recall of about 80%. However, there were some differences between WoS and Scopus across different journal series and within the same journal series. The assigning accuracy of WoS and Scopus for implicit reviews dropped significantly, especially for Scopus. The document types we used as the gold standard were based on the journal websites' labeling which were not manually validated one by one. We only studied the labeling performance for review articles published during 2017-2018 in review journals. Whether this conclusion can be extended to review articles published in non-review journals and most current situation is not very clear. This study provides a reference for the accuracy of document type assigning of review articles in WoS and Scopus, and the identified pattern for assigning implicit reviews may be helpful to better labeling on websites, WoS and Scopus. Bei der gesetzlichen Pflichtablieferung von Netzpublikationen kooperiert die Badische Landesbibliothek mit der Württembergischen Landesbibliothek, dem Bibliotheksservice-Zentrum Baden-Württemberg und der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek. Entstanden sind dabei fünf innovative Dienste zur Archivierung von Amtsdruckschriften, E-Books, E-Journals, E-Papers und Websites. Diese ermöglichen es, wesentliche Teile des textbasierten digitalen Kulturerbes aus Baden zu sichern – wir berichten hier über den aktuellen Stand unserer Sammlung. The legal deposit of online publications is handled through a cooperation by the Baden State Library, the State Library of Württemberg, the Library Service Centre Baden-Württemberg and the German National Library. The joint project has developed five innovative services for archiving government documents, e-books, electronic journals and papers, as well as websites. These services facilitate the protection of substantial parts of our text-based, digital cultural heritage in Baden. We present a short report on the collection and progress to date. In case of scientific misconduct, the papers can be retracted at the request of the journal's editors and/or authors. However, the retracted articles continue to be fully available through online resources, including journals websites. This paper argues that a classical retraction is insufficient to mitigate the adverse effect some retracted papers continue to have on critical issues, e.g. public health. The more strict approach, 'Hard Retraction', is presented for consideration. Its implementation would lead to (1) complete deletion of the full text of the retracted paper, (2) substitution of the original abstract with a detailed retraction notice, (3) removal of the paper from the citation databases, (4) deposition of the retracted paper in the dedicated repository accessible for registered members. Background: Digital tools to document care preferences in serious illnesses are increasingly common, but their impact is unknown. We developed a web-based advance directive (AD) featuring (1) modular content eliciting detailed care preferences, (2) the ability to electronically transmit ADs to the electronic health record (EHR), and (3) use of nudges to promote document transmission and sharing. Objective: To compare a web-based, EHR-transmissible AD to a paper AD. Methods: Patients with gastrointestinal and lung malignancies were randomized to the web or paper AD. The primary outcome was the proportion of patients with newly documented advance care plans in the EHR at 8 weeks. Secondary outcomes assessed through an e-mail survey included the change in satisfaction with end-of-life plans, AD acceptability, and self-reported sharing with a surrogate. Results: Ninety-one participants were enrolled: 46 randomly allocated to the web AD and 45 to paper. Thirteen patients assigned to web AD (28%) had new documentation versus 7 (16%) assigned to paper (P =.14). Adjusted for demographic factors and primary diagnosis, the odds ratio of new documentation with web AD was 3.7 (95% CI: 0.8-17.0, P =.10). Satisfaction with advance care planning and AD acceptability were high in both groups and not significantly different. Among patients completing web ADs, 79% reported sharing plans with their caregivers, compared with 65% of those completing paper ADs (P =.40). Conclusion: Web-based ADs hold promise for promoting documentation and sharing of preferences, but larger studies are needed to quantify effects on these intermediate end points and on patient-centered outcomes. The present study examined the incidence rate of reviews being mislabelled by Scopus, and compared this rate with Web of Science (WoS), PubMed and official websites of publishers. Top 400 cited publications defined by Scopus as ‘articles’ were examined. Their contents were evaluated to see if any were actually reviews. These publications were cross-checked in WoS, PubMed and publisher websites to identify the assigned document type labels. Out of the 400 Scopus ‘articles’, 117 were reviews (29.3%). The official websites of publishers had 16.0% incidence of mislabelled reviews, which was less than Scopus (29.3%) but more than WoS (14.1%) and PubMed (1.9%). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article describes the revolutionary new ways of communicating the written word when moving from the Medieval to Modern period in Europe, primarily the use of paper and moveable typeface printing and how these catalysed important cultural developments. A similar revolution has taken place in the last 50 years with the development of the internet. The article looks at how scientific publishing has changed with electronic publishing, including the development of Open Access. The journal Heritage Science is placed into this context. Especially important for scientific journals in an era when anyone can post anything on a webpage, is maintaining standards through high quality refereeing which distinguishes formal scientific literature from informal websites. This paper presents a case report on detecting hijacked journals. Towards identification of a fake journal website and preventing a hijacked paper, we can use different tools including Google Scholar and Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus (both as scientometric databases) to distinguish a fake website from a legal journal website. Our evaluation shows that analysis of a doubtful website for a targeted journal based on Google Scholar is not reliable. In fact, the use of scientometric tools for tracking prior publications of the targeted journal is compulsory. Another result of this study is that in some uncommon cases, fake websites (clone versions) may sometimes convince a scientometric database in order to be fully/partially indexed along with an abstracting of their hijacked papers while these websites steal identity of the legal journals. The blockchain technology can become a solution in data privacy and protection, being considered a public and decentralized database, in which the identity of a user is masked in the form of an address. Based on this technology, several decentralized protocols such as Bitcoin or Ethereum have been created, with the help of which decentralized applications can be created. In this article, we examine how these technologies can be used to ensure the transparency of a software application, but also the privacy and protection of user data. Other facilities like Non-Fungible Token - NFT and Smart Contract are used. The paper proposes the design and the implementation (including the source code) of a web platform for education / courses incorporating blockchain technology. The results and conclusions are showed. The present paper analyzes multimodal features on a theatre website. Anchored in the methodology of John Bateman, the paper employs the GeM model to explore the interconnection of the visual and textual modes present on the Dutch National Opera and Ballet's website, with a special emphasis on the website's layout and its changes induced by the user's navigation across the multimodal document. The paper also focuses on the major issues and constraints of applying Bateman's model, originally created for print media, to the novel genre of theatre websites, and it attempts to determine the optimum and most effective application of the model in this particular genre. This paper analyses the quality of information collected by a self-administered survey responded to by a general population, who were offered the possibility of answering using the post or Internet. The analysis will be focused on the use of three grid questions with using rating scales with 6, 6 and 8 items, respectively. There was a polar point labelled scale (0–10) with verbal labels only at the endpoints. Around 2000 years ago, the Roman philosopher Seneca the Younger complained that his peers were wasting their time and money accumulating too many books, admonishing that "the abundance of books is a distraction." Instead, Seneca recommended focusing on fewer but better-quality books and reading them thoroughly and repeatedly. After the invention of the printing press in the 15th century, the plethora of information the machine produced was thought by some to be distracting. Today, information overload and digital over-stimulation lead to digital burnout -- a situation where physical and mental exhaustion is caused by spending too much time in front of screens. Symptoms of this condition are apathy, indifference, or mental exhaustion arising from exposure to too much information. Stress induced by attempts to assimilate excessive amounts of information from the media, particularly social media, the internet, or work makes us ill by interfering with our sleep, sabotaging our concentration and undermining our immune system. David Lewis, a British psychologist, calls this ailment Information Fatigue Syndrome (IFS). This paper looks at Information Fatigue Syndrome (IFS), and particularly at the contribution of grey literature (GL) to IFS. To better understand the amount of grey literature around us, it is enough just to look at the GreyNet website which lists over 150 grey literature types. They include articles, blogs, images, videos, emails, web pages, press releases, lectures, manuals, academic theses, and many others. Today, grey literature occupies a considerable role and is one of the main contributors to our digital burnout. The diversity of GL types, volume generated and shared, frequency of creation and change, currency, veracity, and value will be reviewed. The purpose of the paper is to generate suggestions on how to successfully deal with Information Fatigue Syndrome. Additionally, it will offer suggestions on how to continue using valuable grey literature efficiently, and how to do all of this without causing unnecessary stress or wasting time. Identifying owners of devices on the Internet can enable numerous network security applications. For example, accurate Owner Name Entity Recognition (ONER) of websites is critical to find influenced owners in light of new security threats. In this situation, as a specific task of Multimodal Named Entity Recognition (MNER), ONER is essential and helpful for network security. Currently, most existing MNER models only use texts and images, so they cannot effectively utilize the multimodal data of devices to achieve ONER accurately. Also, most of the existing MNER models separately use information in each modality and between modalities. Thus, the fusion is inconsistent, so the effect is not satisfied. Therefore, the paper proposes HDGT: A heterogeneous and Dynamic Graph Transformer, to improve the performance of ONER. The core components in HDGT to realize MNER are a dynamic graph and two-stream mechanism, which could learn the relationship between different modalities during training and the graph's structure well. The paper manually labels a multimodal dataset containing texts, images, and domains to prove the performance of HDGT. Also, the paper conducts experiments on existing and public MNER datasets. The results show that HDGT achieves 84.88% F1 scores on the recognition of owner entities, 75.21% F1 on Twitter2015, and 87.03% F1 on Twitter2017, which outperforms other existing MNER models.
