Recently, it is desired that realization of data collection without aware the data location by applying NDN, to WSN. Applying to NDN to WSN, however, is needed to consider the different situation compared with the wired network. The broadcast nature of wireless communication, induces the multiple reception of interest packets. Hence, in order to reduce needless transmissions, relay nodes among the requestor and contents holder, must selects appropriate next hop node. In this paper, we propose new forwarding method for selecting appropriate route on NDN under WSN environment. The proposal reduces the redundant transmissions by selecting proper route in accordance with the network conditions.

IEEE802.11 which is widely used wireless LAN standard, degrades its broadcast performance by existence of hidden terminals. Then, we have proposed RTB–DR (RTS/CTS for Broadcast with Directional Receiving) for improving broadcast performance on single hop situation. RTB–DR can effectively improve receiving performance by introducing directional antenna while keeping simplicity of transmission sequence. In this paper, in order to increase broadcast range without additional transmission delay, we propose new 2–hop MAC level broadcast protocol, named HRB (High speed Relay Broadcast). HRB realizes 2–hop broadcast by broadcast relay nodes selected from sender’ neighbor. The results of computer simulation confirm that, HRB achieves 1.5 times to 4 times higher 2–hop broadcast ratio, even though its smaller transmission period.

Recently, the popularity of the internet of things technology has highlighted the importance of performance for gathering data over multi-hop wireless sensor nodes. Data obtained from the sensor nodes is used by individual as well as multiple users. Therefore, a data-centric communication strategy is ideal for efficient data gathering and delivery. This paper proposes the implementation of a new data-centric communication strategy based on the named data network (NDN) to wireless sensor network (WSN) for achieving efficient communication performance. We discuss the modification of the NDN, which is originally developed for a wired network, for achieving better communication performance even in wireless communication networks. Specifically, we discuss the methods for constructing the reverse path of the required contents and for selecting the adequate next hop relay node of the forwarding interest. We propose new methods considering the broadcast nature of the wireless channels. Using computer simulations, we confirm that our proposed methods reduce the redundant transmissions by selecting a proper route based on network conditions.
