Migration bears a significant relationship with the dynamics of economic growth in developing countries. This study aims to investigate whether the allocation of internal migrant workers to specific regional units, as conducted in this research within East Java Province, Indonesia, yields the anticipated effects. The Heckman two-step estimation method was used in analyzing the impact of migrant workers on economic growth in developing countries. The results of this study indicate that the determinants of migrant workers in East Java are significantly influenced by age, gender, level of education, marital status, presence of family members under the age of 5, description of the category of origin, Gross Regional Domestic Product Based on Current Prices (PDRB ADHK), region of origin, and the number of poor people. The results of the analysis of the significant impact of migrant workers on the economic sector (PDRB ADHK in destination areas) on migrant workers in East Java are migrant workers of productive age, male migrant workers, migrant workers with bachelor/diploma's degree, migrant workers who come from areas with the widest type of floor is in the form of non-timber/soil housing, and migrant workers originating from small-town areas contribute the most to the PDRB of the destination region. Financial decentralization is a multi-dimensional process in which some powers are transferred from the central government to the governors, and the most important thing is, the return of all the revenues of each province to the same province. One of the effects of financial decentralization is economic growth. Economic growth is measured through the difference in GDP. Economic growth in any country shows the economic and productive performance of each province, and the increase in the production of each province leads to the economic growth of the entire country. This study was conducted in order to investigate the relationship between economic growth and financial decentralization in the provinces of Iran, in which three cities and towns were selected as samples from each province. The technique used in this research is panel data. In this method, the data have time series and cross-sectional characteristics, consist of several dimensions and cover several periods. The time period of the research is 1397 to 1400. The equations related to the independent and dependent variables of this research are taken from the research model of Suyanto (2009), Langudi (2006) and Khosini (2006). The results of the research show that the increase in financial decentralization and the return of revenues from each province to the same province and even grants from the central government have a significant positive effect on economic growth. In addition to this, the research model shows that financial decentralization can improve public spending, reduce the population of low-income people, and ultimately improve the human capital index of provinces. With a population of over 1.4 billion surpassing China's in 2023, India has now become the world's most populous country. Despite its robust IT and service sectors propelling it to become the fifth‐largest economy, India still grapples with low GDP per capita and significant poverty. The paradoxical nature of India's development necessitates a closer examination of its governance. Over 90% of the Indian population works outside the purview of formal democratic institutions and capital‐intensive economic sectors. Challenges arise from the need to sustain a large poor population with limited resources while catering to the formal sector that generates more than half of its GDP. India's governance exhibits a deep mismatch between its institutional design, politics and developmental needs. Poverty is a significant disease in economic development. Thus, the main objective of a country's economic development is to reduce the number of poor people by increasing gross regional domestic product, investment, regional spending, and infrastructure. The purpose of this study is to see and analyze the impact of an increase in gross regional domestic product, investment, regional spending, and infrastructure improvements on the number of poor people. This study uses panel data regression with path analysis. This method can explain the correlated variables by using a sequential model temporarily and identify the path of the cause of a particular variable to other variables that are influenced by it. Data sources come from the Central Bureau of Statistics and Bank Indonesia from 34 provinces in 2015-2019. The study results indicate that an increase in investment and regional spending indirectly affects the reduction of the number of poor people through an increase in the gross regional domestic product. Investment, exchange rates, road length, human development index, and regional spending affect economic growth. Regional expenditure and total population directly affect the number of poor people, while investment does not directly affect the number of poor people. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Political trust is often considered as legitimacy enhancing, but whether political trust is well-being enhancing is still underexplored. Using micro data from the East Asian Social Survey 2012, this study investigates the association between province-level/aggregate political trust and individual happiness in China, and explores the role of economic development in influencing individual political trust after the period of rapid growth in 1990-2010. Results show a positive and significant contextual effect of political trust on individual happiness in China, with the endogeneity problem addressed by an instrument variables method. Currently in China, it is a higher provincial rate of GDP growth rather than GDP per capita that predicts a higher level of political trust. Economic growth still significantly reinforces the level of individual political trust and even helps to raise individual political trust among economically disadvantaged populations. The “critical citizens” phenomenon has not yet grown into a nationwide trend. Since the positive contextual effect of political trust on individual subjective well-being, policy makers are encouraged to maintain the stock of political trust through good governance. The conventional wisdom is that growth is a precondition for poverty reduction. Paying particular attention to the level of growth, poverty and institutions in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), this paper investigates the effect of GDP per capita growth and sectoral growth on poverty and explores whether the growth-poverty link can be strengthened by institutions. Using the panel dataset of 41 SSA countries over the period 1981-2010 and dynamic two-step system generalized method of moment (GMM) estimator; it is found that GDP per capita growth is an important instrument for poverty reduction. Also, the growth of agriculture and the service sectors have direct poverty-reducing effects. The paper further reveals that good and accountable government, bureaucratic quality and sound policies and regulations are important ingredients in sustaining the growth-poverty link in SSA. Background: The health Millennium Development Goals (4, 5, 6) impose the same ambitious 2015 targets on every country. Few low-income countries are on track to reach them. Some authors have proposed country-specific targets as a more informative method by which countries can measure their progress against their potential.Methods: This paper demonstrates a supplementary approach to assess individual country progress that complements the global goals by adjusting for socioeconomic resources and prior time trends. A minimum performance target adjusts for time and national GDP. Fast-track targets, based on best-performing countries' progress within regional and income groups, adjust for health and non-health sector factors known to affect maternal and child health.Results: Measuring by the minimum performance target, 74% and 59% of low- and middle-income countries are on track for reducing child mortality and maternal mortality, respectively, compared with 69% and 22% using global MDGs. Only 20% and 7% of low- and middle-income countries are on track for the child and maternal mortality fast-track targets.Conclusions: Supplementary targets in maternal and child health, adjusted for each country's resources and policy performance can help countries know if they are truly underperforming relative to their potential.
