The subduction-related Sunda-Banda arc hosts several giant and major Cu–Au–Mo porphyry and epithermal Au systems, making it one of the most important magmatic-related metallogenic belts in Indonesia. They are accompanied by a number of smaller systems, one of which is the recently discovered Randu-Kuning porphyry Cu-Au deposit on Java Island. The present study investigates the geochemical characteristics of this deposit through whole-rock and mineral geochemistry and mineral geothermobarometry, focusing on three sequential dioritic intrusions that make up the host igneous complex, two barren and the third mineralized. Moreover, a comparative analysis is performed between other porphyry deposits in the Sunda-Banda arc and with Grasberg in Papua. This study shows that the older porphyry deposits have mostly similar geochemical characteristics to the younger deposits, suggesting the same magma source, which is mantle-derived oxidized I-type magma. Amphibole geothermobarometry shows that the formation of syn-ore intrusion in the older porphyry was higher in temperature and pressure than those at the younger porphyry. The halogen and oxygen fugacities inferred from biotite and amphibole chemistry indicate an oxidized, water- and halogen-rich melt. Our study shows that combining amphibole and biotite chemistry and whole-rock geochemical data is useful to fingerprint the magmatic-hydrothermal processes, especially where multiple magmatic phases occur. Integrated geochemical, U-Pb zircon, and Pb isotopic data from granitoids of the Wulandele porphyry molybdenum deposit, northeastern Inner Mongolia, are reported to disclose the possible magmatic process and Mo ore-forming process. LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating constrains the timing of the quartz diorite and monzonitic granite to 282 ± 2.4 Ma and 135.4 ± 2.1 Ma, respectively. The ages are accordant with geological facts which state that the shallow Permian granitoids are only the ore-hosting rock while the concealed Cretaceous fine-grained granite is the causative intrusion. Whole-rock geochemical data show that the granitoids belong to the high-K calc-alkaline series, and are enriched in LILEs, but depleted in HSFEs. Permian granitoids exhibit I-type characteristics, while Cretaceous granite is akin to A-type granite. Pb isotopic ratios are consistent between Permian granitoids and Cretaceous granite with ratios of 206Pb/204Pb = 18.048–18.892, 207Pb/204Pb = 15.488–15.571, and 208Pb/204Pb = 37.066–38.441. Considering geological and geochemical features together, Permian granitoids are interpreted as subduction-related continental margin high-K calc-alkaline rocks, while Cretaceous granite may be the result of the remelting of the relic Permian arc in an extensional environment induced by the rollback of the Paleo-Pacific plate. Different from classical porphyry-type deposits, the Wulandele Mo deposit, which formed in an intraplate tectonic setting, indicates that the intraplate porphyry Mo deposit should be one of the important exploration targets in the Central Asian Orogenic Belt, especially its eastern segment. Chlorite is present extensively in many types of deposits. The mechanism underlying the chemical variations in chlorite remains unclear. The Naruo porphyry deposit is a giant copper porphyry deposit in the Duolong ore district of Tibet. Chlorite, which is abundant in this deposit, has yet to be studied systematically; hence, we used principal component analysis (PCA) to assess the correlation between chlorite elements and various types of mineral deposits. We then conducted a preliminary investigation into its mineralogy and geochemistry to better understand its formation process and identify potential prospecting indicators. The PCA method proved effective in discerning two distinctive element signatures within the chlorite and categorising them into four deposit types: orogenic Au deposits, granite-type U deposits, and skarn-type Sn deposits that exhibit high FeOand low MgO distinguishing them from porphyry copper deposits. The chlorite in the Naruo deposit is classified as either early metasomatic (M-type), consisting mainly of clinochlore, or late hydrothermal (H-type), primarily consisting of clinochlore and chamosite. This classification suggests that H-type chlorite formed in a reductive environment conducive to Cu precipitation at medium temperatures (255°C-342°C). Al-Si and Fe-Mg substitutions were found to be the primary processes involved in its generation. Additionally, from the mineralisation centre outwards, there was an observed decrease in Si content as well as the Fe/(Fe+Mg) ratio in H-type chlorite, along with decreases in temperature, sulphur, and oxygen fugacity of allchlorites; conversely, increases were observed for Al content along with Mg and Mn elements in H-type chlorite. Paleoproterozoic A-type granites are widely distributed in the southern margin of the North China Craton (SNCC), providing important information for understanding the Paleoproterozoic tectonic regimes in this area. This paper reports newly obtained whole-rock compositions and zircon U-Pb ages for the Tieluping syenogranite porphyry (TLP) and Huoshenmiao alkali granite porphyry (HSM) in the SNCC. Zircons from the TLP and HSM have U-Pb ages of 1 805 ± 12 and 1 792 ± 14 Ma, respectively. These ages are taken to date the emplacement of these intrusions. They had high total alkali contents (K2O + Na2O > 7.13 wt.%), with high 10 000 × Ga/Al ratios (3.06–3.41) and Zr + Y + Nb + Ce values (709 ppm–910 ppm) as well as high zircon saturation temperatures (864–970 °C), indicative of A-type granite affinities. High Y/Nb (1.75–3.32), Ce/Nb (7.72–9.72), and Yb/Ta (2.89–5.60) ratios suggested that TLP and HSM belonged to the A2-type granite. The negative whole rock εNd(t) values (−8.4 to −6.6) and negative zircon εHf(t) values (−15.9 to −6.3) confirmed that TLP and HSM were likely generated by the partial melting of an ancient continental crust. The εHf(t) (−7.4 to +4.0) values of inherited zircons in the TLP suggested that they were derived from the partial melting of Archean basement rocks. Considering the geochemical similarity of the 1.80 Ga A-type granitoids in the SNCC, we propose that the TLP and HSM were formed in a post-collisional regime that was likely associated with the break-off of the Paleoproterozoic subducted slab. Subduction zone magmatism is a major control of volcanism, the generation of modern continental crust and the formation of economically important porphyry Cu–(Mo–Au) deposits. Reading the magmatic record of individual arc segments and constraining the rates of magmatic changes are critical in order to fully understand and quantify the processes that drive magma evolution in subduction settings during arc growth. This study focuses on the San Francisco Batholith and the Rio Blanco-Los Bronces porphyry deposit cluster in central Chile, which provides an igneous rock record over ~13.5 Myr of arc evolution. We use whole-rock geochemistry, zircon geochronology and Hf isotope geochemistry to track changes in the crustal magmatic system of this arc segment during crustal thickening and porphyry Cu deposit formation. By combining the analytical dataset with Monte Carlo fractional crystallisation and assimilation fractional crystallisation modelling, we test a model for significant crustal involvement during magma evolution. Systematic and continuous increases in Dy/Yb, La/Yb, V/Sc and Sr/Y in the magmas over time indicate a transition in the main fractionation assemblage from plagioclase-dominated to amphibole-dominated that reflects deeper crystallisation and/or a higher meltwater content. Concomitant decreases in εHf and Th/La as well as increasing Ba/Th are best explained by assimilation of progressively deeper crustal lithologies from low (Chilenia) to high Ba/Th (Cuyania) basement terranes. Our study highlights that an increasingly hydrous magma and a deepening locus of crustal magma differentiation and assimilation, driven by crustal thickening contemporaneous with increased tectonic convergence and ingression of the aseismic Juan Fernandez ridge, can account for all investigated aspects of the multi-Myr magmatic evolution leading up to the formation of the Rio Blanco-Los Bronces porphyry Cu deposits. Our findings corroborate the importance of high-pressure differentiation of hydrous magma for the formation of Andean-style porphyry deposits. Once magmas favourable for porphyry Cu mineralisation were generated in the lower crust, multiple episodes of efficient magma migration into the upper crust fed several, discrete, shallow magmatic-hydrothermal systems over ~3.5 Myr to form the world's largest known Cu resource at Rio Blanco-Los Bronces. The timing and extent of sulfide saturation have been suggested as controlling factors in the formation of economically significant porphyry Cu deposits in subduction zone settings. However, details on the sulfide saturation history in post-collisional porphyry systems remain ambiguous. Accordingly, we have characterized the whole-rock geochemistry, including platinum-group elements (PGE), of igneous intrusions in the post-collisional Chongjiang porphyry Cu–Mo–Au deposit (southern Tibet) and utilize this data in conjunction with zircon U–Pb geochronological results and sulfide chemistry to assess the timing of sulfide saturation, the nature and amount of magmatic sulfide produced. The Chongjiang intrusions (monzogranite, biotite monzogranite porphyry, granodiorite, dacite porphyry, and quartz diorite porphyry) and mafic microgranular enclaves (MMEs) have zircon U–Pb ages of 14.2 to 12.8 Ma. Covariations in whole-rock major and trace elements among the Chongjiang intrusions and MMEs, together with similarities in their Sr–Nd and zircon Hf isotope compositions, indicate that they are co-magmatic and crystallized from a juvenile lower crustal melt that mixed with mafic melt derived from the lithospheric mantle; this hybrid melt subsequently evolved via fractional crystallization. Trace-element ratios in zircon and temperature − ∆FMQ estimates of the different intrusions suggest that they all crystallized from oxidized (average ∆FMQ = 1.9–2.6) and water-rich magmas. Palladium contents and Pd/Pt ratios in the Chongjiang igneous intrusions increase with decreasing MgO up to 3.9 wt % MgO, after which they abruptly decrease. The initial increase in Pd/Pt ratios likely results from the fractionation of a Pt-rich mineral (e.g. Pt–Fe alloy). The decrease in Pd contents and Pd/Pt ratios at 3.9 wt % MgO likely results from sulfide saturation during magma evolution, but prior to volatile exsolution, which occurred at approximately 1.4 to 2.4 wt % MgO. The presence of magmatic sulfide inclusions in amphibole and magnetite in samples with 3.9 wt % MgO, and the geochemical compositions of sulfide inclusions suggest that they represented trapped sulfide liquid and intermediate solid solution. Results of Monte Carlo simulations demonstrate that 0.003 to 0.009 wt % magmatic sulfide is required to have fractionated from the magma to explain the decrease in Pd contents at 3.9 wt % MgO. Highly chalcophile elements, such as Pd, will be sequestered by the magmatic sulfide that saturates at depth, decreasing their concentrations in the residual silicate melt, whereas concentrations of the less chalcophile elements, such as Cu, Mo, and even Au, will not be as significantly affected. Consequently, sufficient concentrations of Cu–Mo–Au will remain in the residual melt and, upon reaching volatile saturation, can be transported by the vapor phase to form porphyry Cu–Mo–Au deposits. In the case of the Chongjiang deposit, sulfide saturation was likely triggered by the high pressures and/or depletion of FeO caused by the thick (~70 km) crust beneath the Gangdese belt. This contribution presents evidence of sulfide saturation in post-collisional magmatic systems, and demonstrates that the amount of magmatic sulfide produced is a critical factor in controlling the formation of post-collisional porphyry Cu deposits. Metamorphosed dacitic porphyry dikes were first found in the western part of the Vorontsovka terrane, which is located in the Paleoproterozoic Volga–Don orogen at the margin of Archean Sarmatia and Volga–Ural cratons. The magmatic protolith age for the metadacites is ca. 2.07 Ga. These are ferrous, metaluminous calc-alkali I-type granitoids. The sodium specialization of the rocks and their low concentrations of Mg, Cr, Ni, and incompatible elements, with significant REE fractionation, the absence of Eu* anomalies, high Sr/Y ratio, remarkably high (Gd/Yb)n values (>10), and the radiogenic Nd isotopic composition indicate that the dacitic melts were derived from a juvenile mafic source. According to petrogenetic estimations, such conditions could be caused by the partial melting of depleted N-MORB basites in equilibrium with an eclogitic residue. The dacitic magmas were likely generated by the partial melting of mafic rocks at lower levels of the significantly thickened crust (>60 km) in relation to collision processes. The Jiama deposit, a significant porphyry‐skarn‐type copper polymetallic deposit located within the Gangdese metallogenic belt in Tibet, China, exemplifies a typical porphyry metallogenic system. However, the mineral chemistry of its accessory minerals remains under‐examined, posing challenges for resource assessment and ore prospecting. Utilizing electron microprobe analysis and LA‐ICP‐MS analysis, this study investigated the geochemical characteristics of apatite in ore‐bearing granite and monzogranite porphyries, as well as granodiorite, quartz diorite, and dark diorite porphyries in the deposit. It also delved into the diagenetic and metallogenic information from these geochemical signatures. Key findings include: (1) The SiO2 content, rare earth element (REE) contents, and REE partition coefficients of apatite indicate that the dark diorite porphyry possibly does not share a cogenetic magma source with the other four types of porphyries; (2) the volatile F and Cl contents in apatite, along with their ratio, indicate the Jiama deposit, formed in a collisional setting, demonstrates lower Cl/F ratios in apatite than the same type of deposits formed in a subduction environment; (3) compared to non‐ore‐bearing rock bodies in other deposits formed in a collisional setting, apatite in the Jiama deposit exhibits lower Ce and Ga contents. This might indicate that rock bodies in the Jiama deposit have higher oxygen fugacity. Nevertheless, the marginal variation in oxygen fugacity between ore‐bearing and non‐ore‐bearing rock bodies within the deposit suggests oxygen fugacity may not serve as the decisive factor in the ore‐hosting potential of rock bodies in the Jiama deposit. The Bayan-Uul porphyry Au-Cu-(Mo) deposit occurs within the Mongol–Okhotsk Orogenic Belt, which is a part of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt. To understand geotectonic, petrogenesis, mineralization, and ore-forming fluid evolution of the Bayan-Uul deposit, we report petrographic and geochemical analyses of host rocks, mineralogy of ores, and fluid inclusion characteristics. Based on petrographic and mineralogical analyses, Cu, Mo, and Au mineralization occurs as disseminated and sulfide-bearing quartz–tourmaline veins hosted within granodiorites, monzodiorites, and diorite porphyry and tourmaline breccia. Four main alteration assemblages are identified: potassic, phyllic, argillic, and quartz–tourmaline alteration. The ore mineralogy of quartz–tourmaline veinlets are classified into A-type veinlets (quartz + tourmaline + chalcopyrite + magnetite + pyrite ± electrum), B-type veinlets (quartz + tourmaline + molybdenum + chalcopyrite + pyrite), and C-type veinlets (quartz + tourmaline + pyrite ± chalcopyrite). Fluid inclusions are found in quartz–tourmaline veinlets consisting mainly of liquid-rich two-phase (L-type), vapor-rich two-phase (V-type), and solid-bearing multi-phase (S-type) inclusions. The homogenization temperatures for the fluid inclusions in A-type, B-type, and C-type veinlets range from 215 to 490°C, 215 to 500 °C, and 160 to 350 °C and their salinity varies from 5.4 to 43.5 wt.%, 16 to 51.1 wt.%, and 3.4 to 24.1 wt.% NaCl equivalent, respectively. Coexistance of (L-type), (V-type), and (S-type) inclusions support fluid boiling. The δ18O values of ore fluids from different mineralizing A-, B-, and C-type veins are 8.7‰, 10.9‰, and 8.4‰, respectively, and the δ34S values of sulfide minerals range from −1.4‰ to 5.3‰, which indicates magmatic origin. The Shuangyuangou copper deposit is located in the southern segment of the Qinling orogenic belt in central China. The ore‐related intrusions include quartz diorite porphyry, granite porphyry and lamprophyre. In this study, we present whole‐rock geochemistry, zircon U–Pb geochronology, trace elements and Lu–Hf isotope data on the Shuangyuangou intrusions which provide critical constraints on the emplacement age, magma origin, petrogenesis and implications for porphyry Cu mineralization in this newly discovered deposit. Zircon U–Pb dating constrains the emplacement age of quartz diorite porphyry, lamprophyre and granite porphyry at 150–147 Ma. The quartz diorite porphyry and granite porphyry display high‐K calc–alkaline I‐type granite affiliation. The rocks show enrichment of LREE and LILE (Rb, Ba), depletion in HREE and HFSE (Nb, Ta, Ti) and absence of Eu anomaly. Zircon εHf(t) values of quartz diorite porphyry, lamprophyre and granite porphyry range from −7.5 to −1.7 with TDM2 ages of 1.3–1.6 Ga. Our data suggest that the parental magma was derived from partial melting of juvenile lower crust and metasomatic lithospheric mantle, with more involvement of mantle material for the lamprophyre. The zircon Eu/Eu* values of 0.55–0.78 suggest high magmatic water content which suppresses the fractionation of plagioclase. In addition, the ΔFMQ values calculated from zircon trace elements range from −0.90 to 2.96 which is a favourable factor for porphyry Cu mineralization at Shuangyuangou. The Late Jurassic Shuangyuangou intrusion and associated Cu mineralization were formed within an intracontinental setting after the collisional assembly of the Qinling orogenic belt. The Ulgen porphyry Mo deposit, recently discovered in the northeastern segment of the Derbugan metallogenic belt, NE China, is a large and hidden ore deposit. Investigation of this deposit provides insights into the geodynamic background and metallogenic mechanism of Mesozoic porphyry Mo deposits that are exposed elsewhere in NE China. The host rocks consist of muscovite monzonitic granite (MMG) and biotite granitic porphyry (BGP), which are intruded into Lower and/or Middle Jurassic intermediate-felsic volcanic-sedimentary rocks and pre-ore monzogranitic porphyry (MP). Zircon laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometric (LA-ICP-MS) U-Pb age dating indicates that the MMG and BGP were emplaced at 144.9 Ma and 144.7 Ma, ca. 14 m.y. younger than the intrusion age of MP (159.3 Ma). Molybdenite Re-Os isotopic dating indicates that Mo mineralization occurred at 144.9 Ma, almost simultaneously with the 145 Ma magmatic activity. Geochemically, all of the Ulgen granitoids are enriched in large ion lithophile elements (e.g., Rb, Th, U, and K) and light rare earth elements, and are depleted in high field strength elements (e.g., Nb, Ta, and Ti). The pre-ore MPs belong to I-type granites with moderately negative Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.62-0.65), whereas the syn-ore MMGs exhibit S-type affinity with pronounced negative Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.29-0.39). The ore-forming BGPs display adakite-like geochemical features in terms of high-Sr, low-Y, and low-Yb contents, and slightly negative Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.72-0.74). All intrusive rocks have relatively low initial (87Sr/86Sr)i ratios (0.7044-0.7055) and positive εNd(t) values (+1.15 to +2.65), positive εHf(t) values (+4.0 to +9.4), young two-stage Nd and Hf model ages (tDM2(Nd) = 841-731 Ma, tDM2(Hf) = 943-604 Ma), and moderate (206Pb/204Pb)i (18.300-18.402), (207Pb/204Pb)i (15.557-15.564), and (208Pb/204Pb)i (38.180-38.307) ratios. Therefore, it is most likely that these intrusive rocks originated from a mixture of two sources of magma derived from the mantle and juvenile lower crust, in which there were variable degrees of the fractional crystallization of ilmenite, apatite, and plagioclase. Rather than the partial melting of oceanic slabs, the fractional crystallization of hornblende and accessory minerals (e.g., ilmenite and apatite) induces the adakitic geochemical signature of BGPs. Compared with the BGPs, the MPs had a relatively deeper magma source region, whereas the MMGs had a relatively shallower magma source region. The BGPs and the Mo-bearing fluids of the Ulgen deposit were most probably derived simultaneously from magma that was generated at an extensional setting following the closure of the Mongol-Okhotsk Ocean during the latest Jurassic. Identification of geochemical anomalies is a critical task in mineral exploration targeting. Decades of research and technology have resulted in new algorithms and techniques for recognizing anomaly detection methods at various scales and sample media. However, algorithms cannot always reveal the true nature of geological processes. The mineral system concept may contribute to a better understanding of the geological processes required to form and preserve ore deposits at all spatial and temporal scales. The mineral systems concept investigates the geochemical processes occurring within mineral subsystems in soil samples from the porphyry prospect area. The Cu/(Al + Ca) index was used to compare Cu, Mo, and (Pb* Zn)/(Cu*Mo) to highlight the region of interest for mineral potential mapping and pioneer borehole drilling based on fluid-rock interaction and secondary processes (e.g., alteration, weathering, and leaching). The current debate on volcanic-plutonic connection is centered on whether eficient liquid-crystal segregation dominates the evolution of a mushy reservoir to produce evolved, crystal-poor rhyolite and cumulate leftover. However, magma recharge may remarkably influence the evolution of a mushy reservoir and obscure the evidence of liquid-crystal segregation. This complexity poses a challenge to exploring the connection of volcanic-plutonic rocks. This study investigates the Qinzhou Bay granitic complex (~250–248 Ma) from South China, which contains crystal-poor (<19 vol%) peraluminous rhyolites and subsequent crystal-rich (28–54 vol%) porphyries. Although the rhyolite and porphyry units have a close spatio-temporal link, they do not share a fractionation trend and similar whole-rock Sr-Nd-O isotopic compositions; thus, a direct connection is not evidenced. We further present textural analyses, mineral and melt inclusion compositions, thermobarometry (the combination of Ti-in-zircon thermometer and Ti-in-quartz thermobarometer), and thermodynamic modeling to examine the alternative interpretations, i.e., the two units may have intrinsically independent origins or the connection of the two units has been obscured. For the rhyolite unit, thermobarometric results reveal a polybaric storage system consisting of middle (>600 ± 80 MPa) and upper (~150 ± 40 and ~60 ± 20 MPa) crustal reservoirs. Variations in quartz Fe content and chlorine-rich, metaluminous melt inclusions suggest that magma hybridization with less-evolved metaluminous magmas occurred at both crustal levels. In particular, the elevated Fe contents in the quartz population that crystallized at the shallowest level (~60 ± 20 MPa) suggest that recharge magmas were directly injected into the shallowest reservoir. Deviation of the whole-rock composition from the liquid evolution trend recorded in melt inclusions suggests a combined efect of magma mixing and crystal-melt segregation processes in upper crustal reservoirs. Thermodynamic modeling and mass balance calculations suggest that the whole-rock composition of the rhyolite could be reproduced by mixing between regionally exposed dacites and segregated melts at crystallinities of 50–60% (using parental magma represented by the least-evolved melt inclusion). For the porphyry unit, thermobarometric results reveal magma storage at middle (more than 450 ± 40 to 550 ± 40 MPa) and upper (110 ± 20 to 140 ± 20 MPa) crustal levels. The small-scale oscillatory zonation of plagioclase, the pervasive resorption of quartz and alkali feldspar, and the presence of peraluminous microgranular enclaves in the porphyries suggest a recharge event of metasediment-sourced magmas, triggering reactivation and convection of the reservoir. Autoclastic and overgrowth textures of quartz, plagioclase, and alkali feldspar phenocrysts and development of columnar jointing suggest that the reactivated porphyritic magmas ascended and emplaced at ultrashallow levels (~30 ± 10 MPa). Because of the similar storage pressures, the porphyries may represent remobilized cumulates of rhyolitic magmas, whereas the texture and geochemistry of the cumulate-liquid pair were modified, a key factor rendering a cryptic connection between the rhyolite and porphyry. Alternatively, the plumbing systems feeding the rhyolite and porphyry units are horizontally independent or vertically discrete, but this circumstance is inconsistent with the same evolution trend of quartz Fe and Al contents of the rhyolite and porphyry. Our study highlights that whole-rock composition may record blended information of complex processes, and caution should be taken when whole-rock composition is used to extract information of a single process. Multi-method constraints are required to evaluate the influence of recharge processes on the modification of liquid-cumulate records, and big data analysis on the basis of geochemistry should be conducted with caution to avoid biased understanding. The southern margin of the North China Craton (SNCC) contains 8 giant (> 0.5 Mt Mo resources), 4 large (0.1–0.5 Mt Mo resources) and many small (< 0.1 Mt Mo resources) porphyry Mo deposits. Their magmatism ages are concentrated within 150–131 Ma, but it is unclear what determines the size of porphyry Mo systems. Herein, we synthesize new and existing data for the Mo-bearing intrusions in the SNCC to investigate the optimal conditions for giant deposit formation. These intrusions share similar whole-rock geochemistry characteristics and highly differentiated features, with SiO2 and K2O contents ranging from 68.55 to 79.13 wt.% and 2.63 to 11.18 wt.%, respectively. They share similar lower crustal sources with a variable input of mantle materials. Their εNd(t) and εHf(t) values range from -19.1 to -12.7 and -29.5 to -9.3, respectively, and indicate no relationship with metal fertility. The similar ΔFMQ values calculated from zircon geochemistry also suggest that the porphyry Mo deposit size is unrelated to magma redox conditions. High magmatic water contents and high differentiation features (SiO2 > 73 wt.%) exhibit significant positive correlations with the deposit size. Therefore, we propose that magma with a high water content triggered by intensive fractional crystallization is the fundamental requirement to produce large Mo endowment in the SNCC. This conclusion is consistent with the criteria that pulsed release of mineralizing fluids from a large magma chamber through fractional crystallization play an important role in the formation of giant porphyry Mo deposits in other molybdenum belts in the world. The Urumieh-Dokhtar magmatic arc (UDMA), Iran, hosts giant to small porphyry Cu ± Au deposits associated with Miocene post-collisional magmatism. Previous studies suggested that the ore-bearing suites are derived from chalcophile element-rich juvenile lower crustal igneous rocks, and that metal contents in the magmas play an important role in the formation of porphyry Cu ± Au deposits in this region. This study investigates the whole-rock major, trace, and platinum group element (PGE) geochemistry, as well as zircon trace element geochemistry, of six porphyry Cu ± Au ore-bearing suites and three barren suites in the central and southeastern UDMA. The aim is to revisit their petrogenesis and understand the factors controlling the formation of post-collisional porphyry Cu ± Au deposits. The high Mg# and Cr and Ni contents of the most mafic variants of ore-bearing and barren rocks suggest that they are primarily derived from the mantle. However, the ore-bearing magmas from the small Dalli Cu–Au porphyry and barren magmas from central to southeastern UDMA experienced substantial crustal assimilation during evolution. The evolved ore-bearing magmas exhibit high La/Yb and Sr/Y ratios, along with concave upward chondrite-normalized REE patterns and high zircon Ce/Nd and Eu/Eu* values, suggesting that they have undergone amphibole dominant differentiation under hydrous and oxidized conditions. In contrast, the barren magmas are characterized by lower whole-rock La/Yb and Sr/Y and zircon Ce/Nd and Eu/Eu* values with flatter REE patterns, implying plagioclase dominant differentiation. The ore-bearing suites, except for the Dalli suite, have systematically higher Pd and Pt contents than barren suites with highly fractionated PGE patterns (high Pd/Ir). The chalcophile element fertility of the ore-bearing suites, as indicated by high Pd/MgO and Pd/Pt ratios, is comparable to that observed in porphyry Cu deposits found elsewhere. This similarity suggests that the Cu contents of the magma likely played acrucial role in the formation of the porphyry Cu deposits in the central and southeastern UDMA. Late sulfide saturation or small amounts of sulfide segregation may have led to the high Cu and moderate Pd contents of the ore-bearing magmas until the late stage of differentiation. In contrast, early sulfide saturation resulted in significant depletion in all PGE and Cu in the barren magma. The fractionated PGE patterns of the ore-bearing magmas could have arisen due to two potential processes. Firstly, they may have resulted from fractional crystallization of Cr-spinel in the early sulfide undersaturated differentiation. Secondly, the patterns might have been inherited from partial melting of metasomatized lithospheric mantle. The systematic geochemical differences between ore-bearing and barren suites suggest that the more hydrous and oxidized nature and higher Cu contents of the ore-bearing magmas substantially increase the porphyry Cu ore potential in the central and southeastern UDMA. Jiama is a giant, high‐grade porphyry copper system in the Gangdese metallogenic belt, Tibet. Multistage intermediate–felsic porphyries intruded in this deposit, some of which are strongly associated with copper‐polymetallic mineralization. These ore‐bearing porphyries include monzogranite, granodiorite, and quartz diorite porphyries. A new granite aplite dyke was found in the south of Jiama. Its age, genesis, and relationship with ore‐related magmatism are obscure. Here, its emplacement age and petrogenesis were determined using mineralogy, zircon U‐Pb dating, geochemistry, and Sr‐Nd‐Pb isotope studies. The zircon LA‐ICP‐MS U‐Pb age of the aplite dyke is 16.66 ± 0.21 Ma (n = 14, MSWD = 0.66), earlier than that of the ore‐bearing porphyries (∼15 Ma) in Jiama. Furthermore, the aplite exhibits high amounts of silicon (SiO2 = 73.39%–74.74%), potassium (K2O = 5.12%–6.61%), aluminum (Al2O3 = 14.25%–14.69%), and light/heavy rare earth elements (LREE/HREE = 12.12–16.19) as well as negative europium (δEu = 0.47–0.72) and weak negative cerium anomalies (δCe = 0.84–0.93). The aplite dyke is characteristic of metaluminous–peraluminous I‐type granite, which is rich in large‐ion lithophile elements (Rb, Ba, Th and U) and depleted in high‐field‐strength elements (Nb, P and Ti). The aplite dyke and ore‐bearing porphyries in the Jiama deposit are the results of a partial melting of the juvenile lower crust, according to whole‐rock geochemistry and Sr‐Nd‐Pb isotope data, but the dyke and ore‐bearing porphyries were emplaced from the same magma chamber at different times. Volatile element abundance is a crucial factor triggering mineralization and controlling the enrichment of molybdenum in porphyry deposits. The Chalukou deposit is the largest porphyry Mo deposit in NE China, with an average grade of 0.087% Mo. In this contribution, we present petrology, bulk geochemistry, zircon U–Pb geochronology and Lu–Hf isotopes, and apatite geochemistry for the Chalukou deposit. The intrusive rocks include pre‐mineralization monzogranite, syn‐mineralization quartz porphyry, fine‐grained porphyry and granite porphyry, and post‐mineralization monzogranite and feldspar porphyry. These granitoids are metaluminous to peraluminous, and belong to alkali‐calcic to calc‐alkalic series. Zircon εHf(t) values of granitoids range from +0.2 to +5.7 with corresponding Hf crustal model ages of 805–1170 Ma, indicating a Mesoproterozoic juvenile crustal source modified by mantle‐derived magma. They are characterized by logf(O2) of −16.1 to −9.4, with an average of −12.5, ΔFMQ of +0.8 to +7.9, with an average of +4.5, showing a relatively high oxidation state for the syn‐mineralization magma. The apatites in quartz porphyry have the highest F contents, ranging from 3.61 to 4.62 wt%. At Chalukou, F‐rich magma is conducive to the convection of magma and promotes the efficient separation of differentiation magma, making the magmatic‐hydrothermal fluid circulate many times, eventually resulting in the accumulation of ore‐forming materials on the top of the magma chamber and gradually aggravating mineral enrichment processes. The Xiongcun Cu–Au ore district is in the southern middle Gangdese Metallogenic Belt, Tibet, and formed during Neo-Tethyan oceanic subduction. The Xiongcun ore district mainly comprises two deposits, the No. I and No. II deposits, which were formed by two individual mineralization events according to deposit geology and Re–Os isotopic dating of molybdenite. The No. I deposit is similar to a reduced porphyry copper–gold deposit, given the widespread occurrence of primary and/or hydrothermal pyrrhotite and common CH4-rich and rare N2-rich fluid inclusions. The No. II deposit, similar to classic oxidized porphyry copper–gold deposits, contains highly oxidized minerals, including magnetite, anhydrite, and hematite. The halogen chemistry of the ore-forming fluid from the No. I and No. II deposits is still unclear. Biotite geochemistry with halogen contents was used to investigate the differences in ore-forming fluid between the No. I and No. II deposits. Hydrothermal biotite from the No. I deposit, usually intergrown with sphalerite, is Mg-rich and classified as phlogopite and Mg-biotite, and hydrothermal biotite from the No. II deposit is classified as Mg-biotite. Hydrothermal biotite from the No. I deposit has significantly higher SiO2, MnO, MgO, F, Li, Sc, Zn, Rb, Tl, and Pb contents and lower Al2O3, FeOtot, Cl, Ba, Cr, V, Co, Ni, Y, Sr, Zr, Th, and Cu contents than the biotite from the No. II deposit. Hydrothermal biotites from the No. I and No. II deposits yield temperatures ranging from 230 °C to 593 °C and 212 °C to 306 °C, respectively. The calculated oxygen fugacity and fugacity ratios indicate that the hydrothermal fluid of the No. I deposit has a higher F content, oxygen fugacity, and log(fHF/fHCl) value and a lower log(fH2O/fHF) value than the hydrothermal fluid from the No. II deposit. The biotite geochemistry shows that the No. I and No. II deposits formed from different hydrothermal fluids. The hydrothermal fluid of the No. I deposit was mixed with meteoric waters containing organic matter, resulting in a decrease in oxygen fugacity and more efficient precipitation of gold. The No. I and No. II deposits were formed by a Cl-rich hydrothermal system conducive to transporting Cu and Au. The decreasing Cl, oxygen fugacity, and temperature may be the key factors in Cu and Au precipitation. The Wangjiadashan area in Suizhou-Zaoyang region of Hubei Province in the Tongbai-Dabie orogenic belt hosts important copper-gold deposits and contains a large number of quartz syenite porphyry dykes, occurring mostly along the NEE-trend faults. In this study, we used LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating method and obtained an age of 143.6 ± 1.4 Ma, which represents the emplacement of these quartz syenite porphyry dykes was at the Yanshanian, but it was slightly earlier than the previously reported ages (139–135 Ma) for granites widespreading in Suizao area. The geochemical data of the Wangjiadashan quartz syenite porphyry show high K2O, CaO, Na2O and Al2O3 contents but extremely low MgO contents (0.01 wt.%–0.46 wt.%). The geochemical characteristics indicate that these quartz syenite porphyry dykes belong to the typical C-type adakite and were possibly formed in the post-collisional environment. Multi-isotopic (Sr-Nd-Pb-Hf) analyses indicate that these quartz syenite porphyry dykes were originated from crust without distinct mantle materials involved. It is suggested that the Wangjiadashan quartz syenite porphyry was generated from partial melting of the thickened lower continental crust, and garnet but no plagioclase was left as residual phase. Compared with the widespread granites of the Tongbai area, the Wangjiadashan quartz syenite porphyry formed earlier and derived from more juvenile and K-rich lower crust, while they all belong to intensive magmatism concentrated during the Early Cretaceous epoch in the Tongbai area. The Bangbule skarn lead‐zinc (Pb‐Zn) deposit (>1 Mt Zn + Pb) is located in the western Nyainqentanglha polymetallic metallogenetic belt, central Tibet. Lenticular orebodies are all hosted in skarn and developed in the contact zone between the quartz porphyry and carbonate strata of the mid Paleozoic Middle to Upper Chaguoluoma Formation as well as in carbonate and sandstone beds of the Upper Paleozoic Laga Formation. As a newly discovered skarn deposit, the geological background and metallogenesis of this deposit remain poorly understood. Detailed petrological, geochemical and geochronological data of the ore‐related quartz porphyry, helps constrain the mineralization age and contributes to discussion on the ore genesis of the Bangbule deposit. Both endoskarn and exoskarn are identified in the Bangbule deposit. From quartz porphyry to carbonate formation, the exoskarn is zoned from proximal garnet skarn to distal pyroxene skarn. Zircon U‐Pb dating results show that the quartz porphyry formed at 73.9 ± 0.8 Ma. Geochemical analysis results show that the quartz porphyry has high contents of SiO2 (71.40–74.94 wt%) and K2O + Na2O (3.76–8.46 wt%) with A/CNK values of 0.69 to 1.06. Besides, the quartz porphyry is enriched in large ion lithophile elements (LILEs) and light rare earth elements (LREEs) and have low εNd(t) (from –8.25 to –8.19) and high initial (87Sr/86Sr)i values (0.713611–0.714478). Major, trace elements and whole‐rock F concentration analysis results from the endoskarn samples show higher TFe2O3, MgO, CaO, Pb + Zn, W, Sn, Mo and F etc., and lower alkalis (K2O, Na2O, Sr and Ba) than those of fresh quartz porphyry, indicating that the early ore‐forming fluids were an Ca‐Fe‐F‐enriched fluid. Massive ore in the proximal skarn might be related to the high F content in the magma, which lowered the solidus temperature of the quartz porphyry magma and caused a lower temperature of the ore‐forming fluids, as well as facilitating the precipitation of sphalerite and galena. Based on the geochemical characteristics presented in this study, we propose that the ore‐related quartz porphyry was formed by partial melting of crust materials with some juvenile crustal component input. The partial melting of the middle‐upper crust after the initial enrichment of lead and zinc elements are important for the formation of Pb‐Zn deposits. The case study of the Bangbule deposit has proven that there is still a crust‐derived magmatic source region in the western segment of the central Lhasa terrane. The Elatsite–Chelopech ore field in the northern part of the Panagyurishte district in Central Bulgaria comprises numerous spatially associated porphyry copper and epithermal gold deposits and prospects. In addition to the mineralization and alteration features, trace elements, lead and sulfur isotope signatures of sulfide minerals from porphyry copper, base metal and gold-base metal deposits/prospects have been studied. LA-ICP-MS analyses of pyrite, arsenopyrite and sulfosalt minerals validate them as major carriers for Au, Ag, Sb, Se and Co. Pyrite from the three types of mineralization has specific geochemical characteristics. Pyrite from the porphyry copper deposits/prospects has generally lower total trace element content compared to pyrite from the epithermal prospects, except for Se, Co and Ni. Pyrite from the base metal and gold-base metal veins is enriched in As, Au, Ag, Sb and Pb. In pyrite from the base metal deposits, Co and Ni have contents comparable to the pyrite from the porphyry copper deposits, while pyrite from the gold-base metal veins shows lower Co and Ni. Arsenopyrite from these deposits shows similar features. Similarly, sphalerite from the gold-base metal veins also has lower Co content compared to sphalerite from the base metal veins but higher In and Cu contents. In addition to the close spatial relationships between the Elatsite and Gorna Kamenitsa porphyry Cu deposits and Negarstitsa-West and Dolna Kamenitsa base metal prospects, as well as similarities in the mineralization and alteration styles, the lead isotopic (206Pb/204Pb = 18.61–18.68, 207Pb/204Pb = 15.64–15.65 for porphyry and 206Pb/204Pb = 18.55–18.67, 207Pb/204Pb = 15.64–15.68 for base metal) and sulfur isotopic (δ34S values of −3 to +1‰ for porphyry and δ34S values of −1.7 to +3.5‰ for base metal) signatures of sulfides support the idea of a genetic link between these two types of deposits. The porphyry and base-metal mineralization result from a common major ore-forming event during the Late Cretaceous, corresponding to deep/higher-temperature and shallower/distal/lower-temperature environments, respectively. In particular, more radiogenic lead (206Pb/204Pb = 18.41–18.47, 207Pb/204Pb = 15.67–15.76) and slightly different sulfur isotopic compositions (δ34S values of +3.5 to +10.6‰) of sulfides from the distal gold-base metal veins of Kordunsko Dere, Svishti Plaz and Shipkite might be a consequence of the interaction of the ore-forming fluids with an external older crustal and isotopically positive S source. The Dexing porphyry deposit is the largest porphyry Cu–Mo–Au deposit in South China. Biotite composition can record the physicochemical conditions and evolution history of magmatic-hydrothermal system. Biotite from the Dexing porphyry deposit could be divided to three types: primary magmatic biotite (Bi-M), hydrothermal altered magmatic biotite (Bi-A) and hydrothermal biotite (Bi-H). The temperature of Bi-M and Bi-H range from 719 to 767 °C and 690 to 727 °C, respectively. Both magmatic and hydrothermal biotite have high Fe3+/Fe2+ ratios (from 0.18 to 0.24) and XMg values (from 0.57 to 0.66), indicating a high oxygen fugacity. Bi-M has F lower than Bi-A and Bi-H (up to 0.26 wt%), but has Cl (Cl = 0.18–0.30 wt%) similar to Bi-A and Bi-H (Cl = 0.21–0.35 wt%), suggesting that high Cl/F ratios of early hydrothermal fluid may result from the exsolution from high Cl magma. From potassic alteration zone to phyllic and propylitic alteration zones, Cl decreases with increasing Cu, whereas F increases roughly. Therefore, Cl mostly originate from magma, but enrichment of F possibly results from reaction of fluids and Neoproterozoic strata. Negative correlation between Cl and Cu indicates that Cl might act as an important catalyst during Cu mineralization process. Biotite from Dexing has similar halogen compositions to other porphyry Cu-/Mo deposits in the world. The origin of the anorthosite-rapakivi granite-bearing rock complexes was a topic of research for geologists for more than a century. Magmatic systems that produce these complexes were widely developed in the Precambrian and have no direct analogues in modern times. The main goal of this study was to characterize the conditions under which primitive granitoids formed and to shed light on the history of ore matter transport during these stages. The object of the research was granite porphyry dikes—a subeffusive analogue of rapakivi granite from the Salmi batholith in the Fennoscandian Shield. Characteristic solid-phase inclusions of a mineral paragenesis of mafic rocks, as well as inclusions of sulfide melts, were found in zircon from this type of rock. These sulfide inclusions were homogenized by heating, and subsequently, the trace element composition was determined by the LA-ICP-MS method. The geochemistry of zircons was studied by the SIMS method, and the temperature of their formation was determined using a Ti-geothermometer. The temperature of the studied zircon grain formation varied from 925 to 765 °C. The values of ƒO2 for the early stages of the rock formation were in the region below the boundary of the FMQ buffer. The presence of two sulfide melts at the time at which the sulfide inclusions were captured by the zircon, pyrrhotite-chalcopyrite, and sphalerite-chalcopyrite compositions was established. The capture of sulfide inclusions from the pyrrhotite-chalcopyrite composition occurred above 841 °C, while in sphalerite-chalcopyrite, they occurred at a lower temperature of 765 °C. The East Kunlun Orogenic Belt (EKOB) is the most important Triassic polymetallic metallogenic belt in China. A study about the petrogenesis of the ore-related intrusions is of great significance to the geodynamic evolution of orogenic belts. In this study, analysis of U–Pb zircon dating, whole-rock major and trace element compositions, and zircon Hf isotopes for the granitoids hosting the Aikengdelesite Mo (–Cu) and Halongxiuma Mo deposits in the EKOB are studied to determine their chronology and petrogenesis. Zircon date results show that the Aikengdelesite granite porphyry and the Halongxiuma granodiorite porphyry formed at 244.2 ± 1.7 Ma and 230.0 ± 1.0 Ma respectively. All samples of the Aikengdelesite granite porphyry and the Halongxiuma granodiorite porphyry which have high SiO2 and K2O contents, and low MgO and Cr, belong to the high-K calc-alkaline series. The Aikengdelesite granite porphyry samples show I-type geochemical affinities, whereas the Halongxiuma granodiorite porphyry samples are A-type granitoids. They all show negative zircon εHf(t) values (−7.4 to −3.3 and −3.7 to −2.5). We suggest that the Aikengdelesite granite porphyry may have been derived from the lower continental crust. While the Halongxiuma granodiorite porphyry could have formed by partial melting of basic lower crustal materials. By combining the results of this study with previous data, two magmatic and mineralization peak periods (278–237 Ma and 230–210 Ma) were observed in the Paleo-Tethys of the EKOB. Porphyry–skarn deposits occurring in the first episode were formed in the setting of an active continental margin related to the Paleo-Tethys Ocean plate subduction (e.g., Aikengdelesite porphyry deposit), while deposits occurring in the second episode were formed in a post-collisional setting (e.g., Halongxiuma porphyry deposit). The Shuangqishan Au deposit (>15 t) is located in the Dehua‐Youxi‐Yongtai goldfield of the southeastern Cathaysia Block, South China. There are three stages of granites in the Shuangqishan Au deposit, the pre‐mineralization granite porphyry formed in the Middle Jurassic (~166.0 ± 0.8 Ma), the metallogenic granite porphyry and monzonite porphyry formed in the late stage of the Late Jurassic (153–151 Ma), the post‐mineralization granites (granite porphyry, the masanophyre, the dioritic porphyrite) formed in the Early Cretaceous (129.0–120.0 Ma). All rocks are characterized by high‐K calc‐alkaline and shoshonities series, the per‐mineralization granites are enriched in Rb, Th, K, Zr, and Hf, depleted in Ba, P, and Ti, significant negative Eu anomaly and distinctly tetrad effect with highly fractionated I‐type granitoids characteristics. The metallogenic granites and the post‐mineralization granite porphyry are enriched in K, Rb, Th, Ce, Zr, Hf, and Y, enriched in LREE, strongly depleted in Sr, Ba Ta, P, Ti, have moderate negative Eu anomalies with I‐type granites characteristics. However, the post‐mineralization dioritic porphyrite displays strong depletions Sr, Ta, P, and Ti whereas Rb, Th, Ce, and Sm are enriched, enriched in LREE with weakly negative Eu anomalies. The metallogenic granite porphyry is significantly enriched in Au, As, Sb, W, Mo, and Bi, especially enriched in Au. The Lu‐Hf isotopic data indicate that the magma source comes from the partial melting of the Paleoproterozoic crust, the minor part from the mantle in the Early Cretaceous. Therefore, we propose that the granitoids formed in the subducted plate environment from the Middle Jurassic to the Early Cretaceous, the Late Jurassic I‐type granites (~153–146 Ma), The Shuangqishan Au deposit was formed in the stage from compression to extension, the Early Cretaceous granites (~129–114 Ma) mainly formed in the extensional environment and destroyed gold ore bodies. This paper discusses the porphyry copper mineralization in A‐type granitoids from the Precambrian shield of the Karbi Hills (Mikir Hills), NE India. The prospective zone lies in the Kuthori‐Bagori of Kaziranga locality of the north Karbi Hills. The host granitoids are characterized by intermediate to high SiO2 (66.30–72.97 wt.%), Na2O (up to 4.90 wt.%), Ba (up to 1,943 ppm), Zr (up to 410 ppm), Y (up to 70 ppm) and Al2O3 (up to 14.77 wt.%) with low concentrations of CaO (up to 1.53 wt.%), and Cu (up to 32.41 ppm) which suggest a consistent granodiorite‐monzogranite host composition, an intraplate emplacement, A‐type chemistry, shoshonitic to high‐K calc‐alkaline and a predominant metaluminous character. Minerals in the investigated granitoids show hypogene alteration features similar to ideal porphyry style mineralization. Remnants of early chalcopyrite‐bornite‐magnetite (Magnetite‐I) veins have been preserved in the distant propylitic zone. The central core zone of potassic alteration shows the dominance of pyrite‐chalcopyrite‐magnetite (Magnetite‐II) assemblages. Mineral chemistry confirms the presence of two types of magnetites: magmatic (Mag‐I) and hydrothermal (Mag‐II). Mag‐I is octahedral, less commonly cubic, or irregular. It has a porous core with trellis‐type ilmenite exsolution lamellae. Mag‐II is non‐porous, devoid of ilmenite exsolution lamellae, has irregular to distinctly octahedral crystal habit and contains micro‐inclusions of pyrite, chalcopyrite, aluminosilicates, manganite and apatite. The progressive chemical purification of igneous magnetite, exacerbated by hydrothermal re‐equilibration, has resulted in a significant reduction in trace element contents such as Ti, Al, Mg, Zn and Cr, and a significant increase in iron content from 89 to ~94 wt.%. A combination of [Ni/(Cr + Mn) vs. Ti + V], and [(Ca + Al + Mn) vs. Ti + V] variation diagrams and upper threshold concentrations for the Kuthori‐Bagori ore effectively separates Mag‐I and Mag‐II. Our field, petrographic and geochemical data indicate that the Kuthori‐Bagori of Kaziranga granitoid of the Karbi Hills (Mikir Hills) in NE India is an ideal location for porphyry copper mineralization. Early Paleozoic subduction beneath peri-Gondwana microcontinents formed a major Proto-Tethys magmatic arc system. Appinite suite rocks constitute important components within that magmatic arc. Herein, we report hornblende 40Ar/39Ar and zircon U–Pb geochronology data, zircon Hf isotope, mineral chemistry, whole-rock geochemistry, and Sr–Nd–Pb isotope data for the rocks of hornblende gabbro-diorite-quartz diorite-quartz monzodiorite from the Renda appinite suite and adjacent granite porphyry in the southeastern Qilian Orogen. Hornblende 40Ar/39Ar and zircon U–Pb isotopic data constrain ages of the intrusions of the Renda appinite suite to 439–435 Ma. Rocks in this suite represent the calc-alkalic to alkali-calcic series, and they are enriched in large-ion lithophile elements and depleted in high-field-strength elements. The hornblende gabbros exhibit moderate initial 87Sr/86Sr ratios (0.7046–0.7055) and higher whole-rock εNd(t) (–1.3 to +1.7) and zircon εHf(t) (+7.2 to +11.2) values relative to the other rocks of the suite (0.7047–0.7064, – 7.7 to – 1.1, and – 6.6 to +6.8, respectively) as well as Pb isotopic features similar to EM2 lithospheric mantle. These geochemical characteristics suggest that the Renda appinite suite originates from partial melting of an enriched lithospheric mantle, with subsequent fractional crystallization and hybridization with crustal components. The granite porphyry formed by partial melting of the crust coeval with the emplacement of juvenile magma. This study suggests emplacement occurred during a short-lived collision with slab failure (breakoff) after latest stage (cessation) of Proto-Tethys oceanic subduction along the northern side of the southeastern Qilian Orogen. The heat supplied by the asthenospheric upwelling through a gap in the subducted slab induced melting in lithospheric mantle and deep crust producing Renda appinite suite rocks and granite porphyry. Demingding is a promising porphyry Mo-dominated deposit recently discovered in the eastern Gangdese metallogenic belt in Tibet, China. We present zircon U-Pb-Lu-Hf isotopic studies, as well as geochemical data of the late monzogranites and the prior rhyolites from the Demingding porphyry deposit to uncover their origin and geodynamic mechanism. Zircon U–Pb dating yielded precise crystallization ages of 17.3 ± 0.6 Ma (MSWD = 2.5) and 186.5 ± 3.0 Ma (MSWD = 2.0) for monzogranite and rhyolite, respectively. The monzogranite is characterized by high-K calc-alkaline, adakitic affinities, and positive zircon εHf(t) values (+0.9∼+5.6, avg.+3.1) with TDM2 (0.73–1.04 Ga), while the rhyolite has εHf(t) values of (+2.1∼+7.3, avg.+5.2) and TDM2 of (0.76–1.09 Ga) similar to the monzogranite. Our results suggest that the Demingding porphyry Mo (Cu) deposit is related to magma generated from the Neo-Tethyan oceanic subduction. The subsequent monzogranite porphyry was likely formed by the remelting of previously subduction-modified arc lithosphere, triggered by continental collision crustal thickening in Miocene. The lower positive εHf(t) values of monzogranites suggest minor inputs from the Mo-rich ancient crust, suggesting that Mo favors the silicate melt. Such magmatic events and special metallogenesis typify intracontinental processes and porphyry copper deposits, which are normally confined to oceanic subduction and Cu-dominated style, thereby making the continental setting and Mo-dominated style of Demingding exceptional and possibly unique. A current mineral exploration focus is the development of tools to identify magmatic districts predisposed to host porphyry copper deposits. In this paper, we train and test four, common, supervised machine learning algorithms: logistic regression, support vector machines, artificial neural networks (ANN) and Random Forest to classify metallogenic 'fertility' in arc magmas based on whole-rock geochemistry. We outline pre-processing steps that can be used to mitigate against the undesirable characteristics of geochemical data (high multicollinearity, sparsity, missing values, class imbalance and compositional data effects) and therefore produce more meaningful results. We evaluate the classification accuracy of each supervised machine learning technique using a tenfold cross-validation technique and by testing the models on deposits unseen during the training process. This yields 81–83% accuracy for all classifiers, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves have mean area under curve (AUC) scores of 87–89% indicating the probability of ranking a 'fertile' rock higher than an 'unfertile' rock. By contrast, bivariate classification schemes show much lower performance, demonstrating the value of classifying geochemical data in high dimension space. Principal component analysis suggests that porphyry-fertile magmas fractionate deep in the arc crust, and that calc-alkaline magmas associated with Cu-rich porphyries evolve deeper in the crust than more alkaline magmas linked with Au-rich porphyries. Feature analysis of the machine learning classifiers suggests that the most important parameters associated with fertile magmas are low Mn, high Al, high Sr, high K and listric REE patterns. Porphyry copper deposits (PCDs), as main sources of Cu resources worldwide, have attracted great attention for both scientific research and mining purposes in the past decades. The formation of PCDs is closely related to magmatic-hydrothermal system formed in both (continental/oceanic) arc and non-arc environments. Many low-dimensional geochemistry discriminants were developed for identifying the tectonic environments where ore-related magmas formed. However, long-term geological processes may obscure the geochemistry information recorded in rocks and minerals, which inevitably introduces uncertainties for identifying tectonic environments when using the low-dimensional discriminant diagrams. Here, we proposed a semi-supervised machine learning (ML) approach based on zircon chemistry data (spanning 16 elements) to identify the tectonic environments of PCDs. The results show that the semi-supervised models perform better in identifying the tectonic environments compared to the conventional low-dimensional discriminants. Moreover, as another benefit of big data analysis, ML model can clarify the systematic geochemistry differences of igneous zircons formed in different tectonic environments. The results suggest that (U+Th)/Yb and LREE/HREE are the top two important zircon chemical features for distinguishing PCDs formed in arc or non-arc environments. Specifically, zircons from non-arc show higher (U+Th)/Yb compared to that of continental arc, while zircons from island arc show lowest (U+Th)/Yb and LREE/HREE. Finally, the semi-supervised learning model was applied to the Dexing porphyry copper deposit to approach the longstanding debate regarding the underlying metallogenic setting. The Dabate deposit in the West Tianshan Orogenic Belt is a large porphyry Mo-Cu deposit with obvious zoning feature. The Dabate pluton is closely related to mineralization associated with the rhyolite and granite porphyries. Copper (Cu) mineralization occurs on the margin of the rhyolite porphyry, and molybdenum (Mo) mineralization occurs in the interior of the rhyolite porphyry. Petrology, zircon U-Pb isotopic data, whole-rock geochemistry, and Sr-Nb-Hf-Pb isotopic data of the rhyolite and granite porphyries in the Dabate Mo-Cu mining zone and to discuss the properties, sources, evolution, and tectonic environment of the magma. Zircon U-Pb age dating shows that the rhyolite porphyry and granite porphyry were formed in 300.1 ± 1.3 Ma and 290.4 ± 5.2 Ma, respectively, and they are geochemically similar. Both are characterized by negative Eu anomalies (δEu = 0.09–0.15 and 0.10–0.11, respectively) and are slightly rich in light rare earth elements (LREE) but depleted in high-field-strength elements (HFSE), which indicates that they are both A 2 type granites that underwent high differentiation. The Sr isotope (I Sr) values for the rhyolite and granite porphyries range from 0.70564 to 0.70658 and 0.70833–0.70954, respectively. The Nd isotopic composition [ε Nd (t)] values for both are negative but close to zero (−0.25 to −0.46 and −0.65 to −1.10, respectively), and the two-stage depleted mantle Nd model ages (T DM2 (Nd)) are 1.07–1.10 Ga and 1.11–1.14 Ga, respectively. Zircon ε Hf (t) values are 7.29–11.97 and 6.26–11.08 for rhyolite porphyry and granite porphyry, respectively, and the two-stage Hf model ages (T DM2 (Hf)) are 550–848 Ma and 605–916 Ma, respectively. The initial Pb isotope ratios for the rhyolite and granite porphyry are close at (206Pb/204Pb) i = 18.26–18.65, (207Pb/204Pb) i = 15.54–15.64, and (208Pb/204Pb) i = 38.19–38.57. These results indicate that the two porphyries have a mixed source, likely originating from the partial melting of mantle blended with some recently formed lower crust material. The geochronology, geochemistry, and Sr-Nd-Hf-Pb isotope data of existing intrusions in the West Tianshan imply that the Late Carboniferous to Early Permian Dabate area was underplated in a post-collisional extensional setting, and A 2 -type granite intrusions with related Mo-Cu mineralization were formed. To investigate the behavior of Li isotopes during magmatic differentiation and the petrogenesis of Cu-bearing ore deposits, a suite of post-collisional adakitic rocks from Qulong region, southern Tibet, was studied. Their lithologies range from diorite through granodiorite to granite porphyry with the latter containing giant Cu deposits. Detailed evidence of field observation and geochemical signature suggest that these three sets of rocks were most likely formed by various degrees of partial melting and fractional crystallization from the same source. The dioritic enclave, granodiorite and granite porphyry have δ7Li values ranging from 0.2 to 8.2‰, 3.1 to 6.8‰, and 3.9 to 7.4‰, respectively. Most of these samples are overlapping in Li isotope composition, comparable to other granitoids worldwide, indicating insignificant Li isotope fractionation during partial melting and magma differentiation in adakite-like rocks. By contrast, their Li concentrations are mainly controlled by fractional crystallization as suggested from different modal mineralogy. This process does not lead to further enrichment of Cu although they have initial high concentrations (an average of ∼ 104 ppm). In comparison, granite porphyry has extremely high Cu contents (up to 2000 ppm) and their δ7Li values are positively correlated with Cu content, suggesting the involvement of magmatic fluids that most likely exsolved from deep magma chamber. Such fluids not only modified the Li isotopic compositions of granite porphyries, but also extracted metal elements from the highly evolved magma, eventually resulting in the Cu mineralization. The supply of European critical raw materials (CRMs) does not currently meet the European demand. This gap is predicted to increase, making Europe even more dependent on outside suppliers. AGEMERA is a project to help tackle this strategic problem by studying several CRM sites in Finland, Poland, Spain, the Balkans, and Zambia in different deposit types. To check the potential of the porphyry systems in Europe as a source of CRMs, the Assarel porphyry-Cu deposit was chosen as a test site. Here we present preliminary geochemical and mineral chemistry data for hydrothermal ore and alteration minerals in Assarel that reveal the potential of the deposit to source some CRMs as by-products. Further studies will combine the geochemical data with innovative geophysical methods for an improved deposit model and provide enhanced knowledge about effective exploration techniques for CRMs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Mamupu skarn‐type Cu‐Au polymetallic deposit represents the first discovery of a medium deposit in the southern Yulong porphyry copper belt (YPCB), eastern Tibet. The Cu‐Au mineralization mainly occurs as chalcopyrite in breccia, within the plate‐like carbonate interlayer, being closely related to chloritization (e.g., chlorite, magnetite and epidote) and skarnization (e.g., diopside, tremolite and garnet). The ore‐related quartz syenite porphyry (QSP) and granodiorite porphyry (GP) were emplaced at 40.1 ± 0.2 Ma and 39.9 ± 0.3 Ma, respectively. The QSP of Mamupu is an alkaline‐rich intrusion, relatively enriched in LREE, LILE, depleted in HFSE, with no significant negative Eu and Ce anomalies, slightly high (87Sr/86Sr)i, low ∊Nd(t), uniform (206Pb/204Pb)i and ∊Hf(t) values, which indicates that the porphyry magma may be caused by both the mixing of metasomatized EM II enriched mantle and thickened juvenile lower crust. The QSP in the Mamupu deposit shares a similar genesis of petrology to other ore‐related porphyries within the YPCB. High oxygen fugacity and water content of the magmas are essential for the formation of porphyry and skarn Cu deposits. The QSP has similar high magmatic oxidation states and water content to the Yulong deposit, which indicates that the Mamupu has a high prospecting potential. Differences in the geological characteristics and scale of mineralization between the Mamupu and other YPCB deposits may be due to the different emplacement depths of ore‐related intrusions, as well as differences in the surrounding rocks. The Qin-Hang Metallogenic Belt (QHMB), an important metallogenic belt in South China, hosts Cu and W–Sn polymetallic deposits. The Tongshanling ore field in the QHMB is characterized by the coexistence of Cu- and W-bearing polymetallic deposits, which are related to granodiorite and granite porphyry. This study examined whole-rock geochemistry, geochronology, and Sr–Nd–Hf isotopes to determine the genetic relationship between diverse ore-related granitoids (i.e., granodiorite and granite porphyry) and Cu–W metallogeny in the Tongshanling ore field. Zircon LA-ICP-MS U–Pb dating shows that the granodiorite and granite porphyry in the Tongshanling ore field were emplaced at 163.7 ± 0.4 Ma to 154.7 ± 0.6 Ma and 161.1 ± 0.3 Ma, respectively. Geochemically, the granodiorites are classified as oxidized I-type, while the highly evolved granite porphyry is reduced A-type. The Lu–Hf isotopic composition of the granodiorites is characterized by εHf(t) values ranging from –10.49 to –4.99 (average = –7.17), with corresponding TDMC ages ranging from 1524 to 1877 Ma (average = 1682 Ma). In contrast, the granite porphyry has higher εHf(t) values (–3.60 to –1.58, average = –2.78) and younger TDMC (1310–1438 Ma, average = 1387 Ma). The εNd(t) values of granodiorite are −8.06 to −7.37 and the two-stage model ages (TDM2) are 1543–1598 Ma, while the granite porphyry has higher εNd(t) values (−3.0 to −3.4) and younger TDM2 ages (1195–1223 Ma). The results show that the granodiorite and granite porphyry were formed from partial melting of different Mesoproterozoic basement rocks under varying degrees of crust–mantle interaction. Granite porphyry underwent well-recorded fractional crystallization. Compared to the Cu-forming granodiorite, the W-forming granite porphyry has a higher differentiation index, higher crystallization temperatures of zircon (average = 708 °C versus 631 °C), and lower oxygen fugacity (median ΔFMQ = –2.21 versus –1.77). New LA‐ICP‐MS zircon U–Pb geochronology, whole‐rock geochemistry and Hf isotopic data have been studied on the Taipingtun granite porphyry to determine its petrogenesis and constrain the tectonic setting of the central Great Xing'an Range, northeastern China, during the Early Cretaceous. The results of zircon U–Pb dating suggest that the Taipingtun granite porphyry was emplaced during the Early Cretaceous (122–123 Ma). Geochemically, the granite porphyries have high contents of SiO2 (75.76–78.66 wt%) and (K2O + Na2O) (7.14–8.29 wt%), and low Al2O3 (11.09–12.81 wt%) and CaO (0.15–0.29 wt%), indicating peraluminous and high‐K calc‐alkaline features. Additionally, these rocks are characterized by strong Th, U, K, and Rb enrichment; Ba, Sr, P and Ti depletion; high Ga/Al ratios (10,000*Ga/Al = 2.60–4.92) and negative Eu anomalies (δEu = 0.02–0.13). According to the zircon saturation thermometer results, zircon saturation temperatures range from 756 to 959°C with an average of 823°C, displaying high magmatic temperature for the parental magma. Based on these geochemical characteristics, it can be reasonably inferred that the initial composition of the Taipingtun granite porphyry melts exhibited an A‐type magmatic affinity. Furthermore, zircon grains within the Taipingtun granite porphyry have εHf(t) values of 7.12 to 10.99 and TDM2 model ages of 476–726 Ma. The Ba/La (average 3.89), Nd/Th (average 2.25), Zr/Hf (average 22.55), Ti/Zr (average 2.96) and Rb/Sr (average 4.21) values display the characteristics of crust‐derived magmas. Moreover, these rocks have obviously negative Eu anomalies (average 0.13) and relatively high Y (average 37.83 ppm) and Yb (average 4.15 ppm) contents, suggesting the magmas are generated in a low‐pressure environment. Thus, we consider the primary magmas of the Taipingtun granite porphyry may have been predominantly derived from the partial melting of juvenile crustal rocks at low pressure. Combined with the regional geological data, we suggest that the Taipingtun granite porphyry was formed in an extensional tectonic environment, and possibly related to the subducted Palaeo‐Pacific Ocean Plate in the Early Cretaceous. The Early Cretaceous aluminous A-type granites in the Lower Yangtze River belt (LYRB) can provide important insights into the Mesozoic magmatism in eastern China, but their origin remains highly controversial. In this study, radiogenic Ca-Nd isotopic analysis was performed for syenite porphyry and alkali-feldspar granite porphyry of the Yangshan pluton, a typical aluminous A-type granitic intrusion in the LYRB, to constrain its source and geodynamic setting. The results show that εCa(126 Ma), εNd(126 Ma) and K/Casource of the syenite porphyry range from −0.24 to +0.96, −7.2 to −6.0, and 0.31 to 1.26, respectively. The corresponding values for the alkali-feldspar granite porphyry range from 0.26 to 0.84, −8.0 to −6.1, and 0.79 to 1.08, respectively. Binary mixing modeling indicates that they were originated from the same sources with different proportion, namely, a mixing of 50% to 75% Neoproterozoic crust and 50% to 25% asthenospheric mantle. Together with previous works, we propose that the Early Cretaceous subduction of the ridge between the Pacific and Izanagi plates was responsible for the formation of the aluminous A-type granites in the LYRB. The Zhashui-Shanyang ore cluster area is one of the most important gold polymetallic ones in northwestern China. The Qinglingou gold deposit is a newly discovered small-scale deposit in the Zhashui-Shanyang area. Gold mineralization closely related to acid intrusive rocks has been found for the first time in this area. In this paper, the geochronology, whole-rock geochemistry, and isotope signature of the granite porphyries in the deposit are studied. They are characterized by variable medium SiO2 (67.22–71.72 wt.%), high K2O + Na2O contents (6.54–10.34 wt.%), and variable Al2O3 (14.47–15.10 wt.%) values. The A/CNK ratios range from 0.90 to 1.23, and the A/NK ratios vary from 1.14 to 1.48. These rocks also contain biotite and amphiboles and are similar to peraluminous and high-K calc-alkaline I-type granites. The Qinglingou granite porphyries show relative enrichment of Rb, Th, and K, and depletion of Nb, Ta, P, Ti, and other high field strength elements. These porphyries are enriched in light rare earth elements relative to heavy rare earth elements with weak negative Eu anomalies (δEu = 0.63–0.89), which is interpreted to be the best age of crystallization of the Qinglingou porphyries. LA–ICPMS zircon U–Pb dating yields an age of 211 ± 1.2 Ma (n = 16, MSWD = 0.39). The close spatial relationship between the ore bodies and granite porphyry dikes indicates that this age may represent the metallogenic age in this area. The zircons have 176Hf/177Hf ratios ranging from 0.282625 to 0.282702, the εHf(t) values are near 0 and the two-stage zircon Hf model ages range from 1121 to 1296 Ma. These data indicate that the Qinglingou granite porphyries were derived from the interplay between mantle- and crustal-derived magmas. A reassessment of the geochemistry of stream sediments collected by the British-led North Sumatra Project from 1975 to 1980 in central Aceh with spectrum–area and local singularity fractal techniques refines previously determined areas with anomalous Cu and delineates As anomalies (proxy for Au) that correspond to porphyry Cu and epithermal Au–Ag deposits and prospects discovered in the 1980s and 1990s. Additionally, the application of these methods to stream sediment samples collected by an Australian company in the mid-1990s from part of central Aceh identifies Au, As, and Cu anomalies that are aligned with regional geochemical trends. Integrating singularity metal-enriched areas and the distribution of mineral occurrences and structures reveals northerly and easterly tectono-magmatic corridors controlling epithermal Au–Ag and porphyry Cu mineralisation. Whether there is a relationship between widespread Cenozoic igneous rocks and the activated Ailao Shan–Red River shear zone (ASRR) in western Yunnan, SE Tibet, remains highly controversial. New geochronological, and geochemical data derived from Cenozoic igneous rocks both within and far from the ASRR offers answers. Although these coeval felsic rocks (36.9–33.5 Ma) are enriched in large‐ion lithophile elements relative to high field strength elements, they also display some special geochemical features, such as high Y and Yb values of syenitic porphyries, which contrast with the high Sr and low Y contents of monzoporphyries and granitic porphyries. The syenitic porphyries exhibit geochemical characteristics similar to those of coeval mafic magmas, e.g., high K2O, Y, and Yb contents, indicating that the former were probably generated by fractional crystallization of the latter. However, the high Sr/Y (56.1–109) monzoporphyries and granitic porphyries, combined with their low MgO, and Cr (or Ni) contents, suggest that they were mainly derived from partial melting of a thickened mafic lower crust. Given that these Cenozoic magmatic events exhibiting planar distributions occurred outside of the activation of the ASRR (31–20 Ma), then they were not controlled by the latter. The Tiegelongnan porphyry-epithermal deposit (2089 Mt @ 0.53% Cu, 0.08 g/t Au) is host to a large variety of Cu-sulfide minerals, mainly chalcopyrite, bornite, covellite, digenite, enargite, and tennantite. We used LA-ICP-MS to investigate the trace element geochemistry of the Tiegelongnan Cu-sulfides, as well as pyrite, to understand the correlation between sulfides and trace elements, gold in particular, in the porphyry and epithermal systems. Porphyry mineralization consists of stage 1 chalcopyrite-pyrite ± molybdenite, stage 2 chalcopyrite-bornite, and stage 3 covellite. Epithermal sulfides form stage 4 pyrite-alunite, stage 5 digenite-bornite-chalcopyrite, and stage 6 enargite-tennantite ± tetrahedrite. Stage 2 chalcopyrite (S2 Ccp, median = 9.7 ppm Au) is the primary porphyry Au host, and stage 6 tennantite in alunite veins (S6 Tnt-s, median = 98.0 ppm Au) is the major epithermal Au host. These Au-rich sulfides formed under higher oxidation conditions, suggesting that a high oxidation state favors the incorporation of Au in Cu-sulfides. Gold contents in coeval chalcopyrite and bornite are positively correlated to temperature, and Au is enriched in chalcopyrite over bornite at low temperatures (< 350 ℃). Positive correlations between Au and As and Te in covellite and chalcopyrite result from the reaction of As3+ + (Au+/Ag+) + Te2− ↔ 4Cu+ + S2−. Epithermal chalcopyrite and bornite contain more As and Pd than that in porphyry stages, and high contents of As, Sn, Cd, Zn, Sb, Te, Au, and Bi in epithermal enargite and tennantite are likely the result of partitioning of these elements in sulfides at low epithermal temperatures. Epithermal overprinting likely leached Cu from earlier porphyry stage sulfides to precipitate high Cu-grade epithermal mineralization. The Central Orogenic Belt of New Guinea is the youngest orogenic belt in the world and the most important porphyry-type copper-gold mineralization belt in the world. A set of high-magnesium diorite mass developments has been found in the Nabire region of Indonesia, located in the central-northwestern part of the Central Orogenic Belt of New Guinea, providing a good record for detailed study of magmatic processes and mineralization environments associated with ocean subduction. Through field observations and studies of petrology and geochemical characteristics, it was found that the high magnesium diorite was dominated by fine-grained hornblende and plagiobolite, and no olivine traps or trap crystals were found; Rocks have high MgO content (mass fraction, the same below) (4.51%~10.88%), Yb content ((1.16~2.69)×10) and Y content ((11.68~25.09)×10), high Mg value (50.07~72.50), enrichment of large ionite elements, loss of high field strength elements, relatively low Sr/Y and La/Yb values; Combined with the more consistent Nb/La, U/Nb, Th/La and U/Th values, it is suggested that it may have evolved from the interaction of subduction sediment melt with the overlying mantle peridotite and undergoing separation crystallization, which is accompanied by the release of a large number of HO and fluids, increasing oxygen escape; The formation environment of high magnesium andes/diorites is similar to that of porphyry copper-gold deposits, and has a close affinity with porphyry copper-gold deposits, which is a prospecting marker for large porphyry deposits, while the high-magnesium diorites in the Nabire area have been found to have the development of copper-gold mineralization, indicating that the area has the potential to find large copper-gold deposits [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Zhunsujihua porphyry Mo-Cu deposit is located in the Erenhot–East Ujimqin metallogenic belt in northeastern China. Granodioritic intrusions in the mining area are dominated by granodiorite and granodiorite porphyry, but the Mo mineralization is limited within the granodiorite. Zircon LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating yields crystallization ages of 301.5 ± 3.0 Ma for granodiorite and 296.0 ± 3.0 Ma for granodiorite porphyry. These ages constrain the magmatic activity at the Zhunsujihua deposit that took place during the subduction of the Paleo-Asian oceanic plate. Whole-rock geochemical data suggest that the granodioritic intrusions belong to calc-alkaline and high-K calc-alkaline series, and are characterized by enrichment in K, Rb, U, Th, and Pb, and depletion in Nb, Ta, Ti, and P. The negative Eu, Ba, and Sr anomalies suggest that they have experienced extensive fractionation of plagioclase. Trace element compositions of zircons from the Zhunsujihua deposit provide constraints on the oxygen fugacity (ƒO2) of the magma, which is shown to high values with ∆FMQ = +0.5 to +5.6. The wide range of zircon εHf (t) (+1.3~+9.4) values, positive whole-rock εNd (t) (+2.5~+3.9) values, and relatively low initial (87Sr/86Sr)i (0.70367~0.70561) ratios indicate that the magmas mainly originated from a juvenile lower crust source derived from depleted mantle, but mixed with pre-existing crustal components. Moreover, the juvenile lower crust represents the main source of Mo for the Zhunsujihua deposit. Groundwaters recovered from the Salar de Punta Negra and Monturaqui basins in the Atacama Desert of northern Chile exhibit distinctly different isotopic, major, trace, and porphyry copper elemental compositions related to contrasting morphostructural, geochemical, and hydrodynamic settings. Comparison of these distinct groundwater signatures with groundwaters from known porphyry copper deposits (Salar de Hamburgo and Spence Deposit), can be used to determine if either basin might be prospective for porphyry copper mineralization. Groundwaters within the Punta Negra Basin exhibit geochemical characteristics consistent with other closed basin settings throughout the arid Andes. Elemental and isotopic compositions within the Punta Negra Basin reflect closed basin evaporitic processes consistent with the hyperarid, volcanic setting of the central Andes. Pathfinder metals and isotopic compositions are not consistent with porphyry copper type mineralization as described for groundwaters within the Salar de Hamburgo Basin, and the Spence Deposit. Within the Monturaqui Basin the geochemical composition of groundwaters are characteristic of diffuse hydrothermal activity. Sulfur isotopic composition within the waters of the northern Monturaqui Basin exhibit δ 34SCDT isotopic signatures that fall within the range for sulfide mineralization as reported for groundwaters in and around the Spence Deposit and the Salar de Hamburgo. However, porphyry copper related elements within the Monturaqui Basin are impoverished relative to groundwaters of the Spence and Escondida Deposit. Such impoverishment in porphyry related elements, taken in conjunction with enriched δ 13CPDB compositions, elevated groundwater temperatures, groundwater compositions dominated by HCO3, SO4, and Si, and the proximity of the Monturaqui Basin to the current magmatic arc are consistent with a volcanic hydrothermal origin. In summary, the groundwater geochemistry of the Monturaqui and Punta Negra Basins are not indicative of porphyry copper-type mineralization. Mount Hagen is a mid-Pleistocene stratovolcano located in the Papua New Guinea Highlands. It was selected for this study because of (1) its close location to several giant Cu–Au porphyry deposits in the region; (2) its high-K calc-alkaline character (absarokite–shoshonite) and (3) its wide compositional range (2 to 12 wt % MgO). Whole-rock geochemistry, petrography and QEMSCAN observations are consistent with fractional crystallisation of the evolving magma being controlled by the phases now represented by the megacrysts in the lavas: olivine and clinopyroxene at high MgO and hornblende and plagioclase at low MgO. However, the role of plagioclase is enigmatic. Although it is an abundant megacryst phase in the low-MgO samples, plagioclase has little or no influence on fractional crystallisation, suggesting that it may be an antecryst. The appearance of plagioclase megacrysts does not slow the rate of increase in Al2O3 or Sr with decreasing sample MgO and the low-MgO samples do not have Eu anomalies. At ~5.5 wt % MgO, there are significant changes in the system that are inconsistent with simple fractional crystallisation. These changes include hornblende and plagioclase replacing olivine and clinopyroxene as the principal megacryst phases, a sharp rise in platinum-group elements (PGE) concentrations, the brief reappearance of high Fo olivine megacrysts and reversed zoning in the plagioclase megacrysts. These changes are interpreted to have resulted from a new pulse of magma entering the system, with higher water, MgO, SiO2 and PGE concentrations than the original parent magma. Scatter in the PGE data is attributed to the presence of micronuggets in all samples, including the most mafic samples. We conclude that the magma system became sulphide saturated during an early stage in its fractionation history, probably before leaving the crust to deep crustal magma chamber, and then became undersaturated as a consequence of decreasing pressure as magma ascended into a mid-crustal magma chamber. The early saturation episode had a pronounced influence on PGE concentration but had little affect Cu and Au, due to their lower partition coefficient into sulphides. The magma became sulphide saturated again in the crustal magma chamber at ~8.5 wt % MgO, this time affecting all chalcophile elements. Given the early episodes of sulphide saturation, depletion in Au in the Mount Hagen magma system and the absence of a known porphyry system, it is unlikely that Mount Hagen produced economic porphyry mineralisation. Gold (Au) is a precious metal that has played an important role in the development of the global economy. It is therefore important to better define the genesis of Au mineralisation as an aid to focus exploration as the consumption of Au increases. The Dashui goldfield contains a super large Au resource of over 120 t (tonnes) in the West Qinling Orogen, central China. Despite several studies have focused on the genesis of the Dashui goldfield, the original physico–chemical natures of magmatic and hydrothermal evolution remain unclear. Biotite and apatite in the mineralised diorite porphyry of the goldfield are sensitive to the changes in the physico–chemical conditions and the evolution of magmatic and hydrothermal fluids, and thus provide important keys to address these issues. Hence, we conducted detailed in–situ major and trace element studies of biotite and apatite from the ore–bearing diorite porphyry in the Dashui goldfield. Our aim is to elucidate the physico–chemical conditions, magma source, and magmatic and hydrothermal evolution processes during the deposition of the gold, and to enhance the understanding of the Au genesis in the West Qinling Au province. Using the geochemistry of magmatic apatite, and magmatic and hydrothermal biotite, we have found that the crystallisation temperature and pressure along with emplacement depth of diorite porphyry were constrained at ∼ 737–791 °C, 1.08–1.73 kbar, and 3.94–6.30 km. The diorite porphyry has the geochemical affinities with calcium alkaline orogenic suites derived from a mixed crustal and mantle source. During the early emplacement of diorite porphyry, the melt had a high oxygen fugacity and was highly enriched in Au. During the late magma crystallisation of diorite porphyry, the magma was enriched continuously in most elements with the Ba/Rb ratios in the biotite varying from 10 to 5, and most of the Au was hosted by pyrite. Additionally, elements were continuously dissolved into fluids generating Cl–rich hydrothermal fluids during the evolution of the magma. During hydrothermal evolution, Au is migrated with As and Sb in the vapour phases of fluids, whereas Au migrated with Cl in the liquid phase. When temperatures dropped to ∼ 200–400 °C, Au started to combine with S and Si in the liquid phase of fluids. Subsequently, hydrothermal fluids interacted with host carbonate to form the Dashui goldfield, Au during this stage was also transported and hosted in magnetite, hematite, and quartz within the carbonate rocks.
