Recent research in intelligent transportation system focus on different possible use cases. Among them are the payment applications with cooperative intelligent transport system (C-ITS) equipment. In this paper, we deal about the tolling application performed with the C-ITS equipment. These latter use the ITS-G5 technology, the Roadside Unit (RSU) and the on-board unit (OBU) with features specified by the standardization Institute ETSI. To perform this service, we highlight two mains requirements: how to have a reliable geolocation of the vehicle when it crosses the tollgate and how to secure the communication during the transaction process. In this paper, we will address the methods that is propose to solve the issue of geolocation. The proposed method takes advantage of the communications data. It uses the principle of Differential - GPS mixed with Kalman filtering and extended Kalman filtering applied to the GPS and CAN bus measurements received by the RSU from the connected vehicles. The kinematic of the vehicle is taken into account to choose the suitable system model. Here as novelties, we discuss about the whole procedure to perform the geolocation process during the tolling service and we have results when we apply the dynamic model according to the real behavior of the vehicle when approaching and crossing the toll station. The May 2022 proposal from the European commission for a 'European health data space' envisages advantages for health from exploiting the growing mass of health data in Europe. However, key stakeholders have identified aspects that demand clarification to ensure success. Data will need to be freed from traditional silos to flow more easily and to cross artificial borders. Wide engagement will be necessary among healthcare professionals, researchers, and the patients and citizens that stand to gain the most but whose trust must be won if they are to allow use or transfer of their data. This paper aims to alert the wider scientific community to the impact the ongoing discussions among lawmakers will have. Based on the literature and the consensus findings of an expert multistakeholder panel organised by the European Alliance for Personalised Medicine (EAPM) in June 2022, it highlights the key issues at the intersection of science and policy, and the potential implications for health research for years, perhaps decades, to come. Developing effective and fast data transfer system for the huge amount data between Europe and Japan is a critical issue for the ITER Remote Experimentation Center (REC). To implement the system, effective data transfer methods and wide bandwidth international network are required. This paper describes results of data transfer experiments. We have evaluated two data transfer methods: Packet Pacing and MMCFTP. By using Packet Pacing and 2.4 Gbps line, we achieved 2.2 Gbps data transfer from NIFS to IFERC. By using MMCFTP and 10 Gbps line, we achieved 2.5 Gbps data transfer from NIFS to Dublin, Ireland. Furthermore, by using MMCFTP and 100Gbps line, we successfully achieved the stable transmission of 1PB of data at approximately 84 Gbps, one of the world’s fastest transmission speeds. This paper also describes the upgrade plan of SINET (a Japanese academic backbone network), which is used for ITER and REC communications. SINET will be upgraded to the network based on 100-Gigabit Ethernet technology in April 2016. Furthermore, direct lines of 20 Gbps (10 Gbps × 2) between Japan and Europe will be introduced. Air pollution has become a global issue due to rapid urbanization and industrialization. Bad air quality is Europe's most significant environmental health risk, causing serious health problems. External air pollution is not the only issue; internal air pollution is just as severe and can also lead to adverse health outcomes. IoT is a practical approach for monitoring and publishing real-time air quality information. Numerous IoT-based air quality monitoring systems have been proposed using micro-sensors for data collection. These systems are designed for outdoor air quality monitoring. They use sensors to measure air quality parameters such as C O 2 , C O , P M 10 , N O 2 , temperature, and humidity. The data are acquired with a set of sensors placed on an electric car. They are then sent to the server. Users can subscribe to the list and receive information about local pollution. This system allows real-time localized air quality monitoring and sending data to customers. The work additionally presents a secure data transmission protocol ensuring system security. Telemedicine ensures remote medical services through technologies that facilitate the interaction between a health professional and patients and offers the possibility of a interdiciplinary consultation between specialists, in order to obtain a diagnosis and treatment plan. It involves secure transmission of medical data and information, through text, sound, images or other forms needed for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of patients. With the help of telemedicine, people from rural areas, with difi cult access to primary care, and those with reduced mobility can benefi t from healthcare services. The development of Wireless Underground Sensor Networks (WUSNs) is currently receiving significant attention to collect data underground all along the year without impacting aboveground activities. Although the opportunities are promising for sectors as agriculture and environment monitoring, the task is particularly challenging as the radio waves are significantly more attenuated in the soil in comparison with in the air. In addition, the communication ranges are highly impacted by some operating and environmental conditions as the soil moisture, its composition and compaction as well as the burial depth of the nodes. In this paper, we developed two sets of nodes operating at 433 MHz and 868 MHz based on the LoRa technology which is the physical layer of the Low Power Wide Area Network LoRaWAN and initially developed for aboveground IoT applications. We successively tested these nodes in real conditions on underground to aboveground (UG2AG) data transmissions and with various operating conditions and radio parameters. First results highlighted the interest of the 868 MHz radio modules tuned at the maximal allowed transmit power in Europe (+14 dBm/25 mW), in comparison with the 433 MHz radio modules (+10 dBm/10 mW). Next results enabled to point out the importance of the inclination of the receiving antenna but also the impact of the burial depth of the emitting node, as well as the interest to place the emitting antenna directly in contact with the soil. The best configuration enabled to reach UG2AG ranges of more than 275 meters long with low depth buried nodes (15 to 30 cm), that clearly enables to envision agriculture and environment monitoring applications based on such radio modules. Digitization of medicine requires systematic handling of the increasing amount of health data to improve medical diagnosis. In this context, the integration of the versatile diagnostic information, e.g., from anamnesis, imaging, histopathology, and clinical chemistry, and its comprehensive analysis by artificial intelligence (AI)-based tools is expected to improve diagnostic precision and the therapeutic conduct. However, the complex medical environment poses a major obstacle to the translation of integrated diagnostics into clinical research and routine. There is a high need to address aspects like data privacy, data integration, interoperability standards, appropriate IT infrastructure, and education of staff. Besides this, a plethora of technical, political, and ethical challenges exists. This is complicated by the high diversity of approaches across Europe. Thus, we here provide insights into current international activities on the way to digital comprehensive diagnostics. This includes a technical view on challenges and solutions for comprehensive diagnostics in terms of data integration and analysis. Current data communications standards and common IT solutions that are in place in hospitals are reported. Furthermore, the international hospital digitalization scoring and the European funding situation were analyzed. In addition, the regional activities in radiomics and the related publication trends are discussed. Our findings show that prerequisites for comprehensive diagnostics have not yet been sufficiently established throughout Europe. The manifold activities are characterized by a heterogeneous digitization progress and they are driven by national efforts. This emphasizes the importance of clear governance, concerted investments, and cooperation at various levels in the health systems.Key Points• Europe is characterized by heterogeneity in its digitization progress with predominantly national efforts. Background: Remote monitoring (RM) is defined as the surveillance of device-transmitted outpatient data. RM is expected to enable better management of chronic diseases. The objective of this research was to identify public policies concerning RM in four European countries. Methods: Searches of the medical literature, the Internet, and Ministry of Health websites for the United Kingdom (UK), Germany, Italy, and Spain were performed in order to identify RM policies for chronic diseases, including end stage renal disease (ESRD), chronic pulmonary obstructive disease (COPD), diabetes, heart failure, and hypertension. Searches were first performed in Q1 2014 and updated in Q4 2015. In addition, in depth interviews were conducted with payers/policymakers in each country. Information was obtained on existing policies, disease areas and RM services covered and level of reimbursement, other incentives such as quality indicators, past/current assessments of RM technologies, diseases perceived to benefit most from RM, and concerns about RM. Results: Policies on RM and/or telemedicine were identified in all four countries. Pilot projects (mostly in diabetes, COPD, and/or heart failure) existed or were planned in most countries. Perceived value of RM was moderate to high, with the highest rating given for heart failure. Interviewees expressed concerns about sharing of medical information, and the need for capital investment. Patients recently discharged from hospital, and patients living remotely, or with serious and/or complicated diseases, were believed to be the most likely to benefit from RM. Formal reimbursement is scarce, but more commonly available for patients with heart failure. Conclusions: In the four European countries surveyed, RM has attracted considerable interest for its potential to increase the efficiency of healthcare for chronic diseases. Although rare at this moment, incentives to use RM technology are likely to increase in the near future as the body of evidence of clinical and/or economic benefit grows. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
