This paper is based on the first two iterations of the Twitter reenactment in "History 450: The Growth of Metropolitan Milwaukee," taught at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) in Fall 2020 and 2021. According to the authors, they did not come up with the Twitter reenactment as a pedagogical tool on their own. This paper describes the development and refinement of Twitter reenactments since 2009. The authors explain how they worked out the details of transforming what had been a volunteer activity into the core of a class. The authors conclude by examining some of the ethical and pedagogical questions raised by having students engage in a historical reenactment. According to the authors, historical reenactments can offer students an unusual opportunity to develop their historical thinking and share original research findings with a public audience.

The cultural domain may be defined as a sphere of influence that involves all cultural activities, whether economic or social in nature. In the context of lifelong learning, cultural and artistic environments represent tools and media of significance for formal and informal adult learning. The availability of learning opportunities in the cultural domain, the achievement of cultural competence by all individuals, and their cultural participation are strongly associated with lifelong learning. The research study employed a descriptive review model intending to establish the data available in Turkey with respect to cultural productivity and participation. These data span the period between 2000 and 2018. The study was structured on the basis of the data in Turkey as pertains to the budget allocated to culture and cultural expenditure, as well as performing arts, printed media, libraries, and museums. In summary, a general evaluation of the present state of productivity and participation in the cultural domain and its course over the years gives way to the argument that the cultural domain in Turkey is far from offering a source of possibilities and tools that would allow for the broader dissemination of the culture of learning. The data indicate that cultural participation in Turkey is limited to a relatively low population rate in many respects. Aesthetic education is fundamental to young children's holistic development and future lives. The development of aesthetic sensibility has been promoted in early childhood education in various countries and is an important issue in Taiwan's current educational practice. This paper aims to examine the aesthetic domain of the "Early Childhood Education and Care Curriculum Framework," promulgated by the Taiwan's Ministry of Education, highlighting the importance of aesthetic education for young children in Taiwan. The objective of this research study is to better understand the aesthetic education of Taiwan's young children, and provide insight for preschool teachers who implement aesthetic education. The findings are as follows: (1) the goals of aesthetic domain in the curriculum framework is to help young children enjoy aesthetic experience and artistic creation, and develop rich imagination, and respond to feelings and preferences for artistic creation of young children; (2) the aesthetic domain includes the development of "exploration and awareness", "performance and creation", and "response and appreciation"; (3) the learning aspect of the aesthetic domain is divided into two parts: "affection" and "artistic media"; (4) teachers should also pay attention to appropriate arts and cultural activities so the young children can experience their own local culture. If preschool teachers open their eyes and ears, they can guide young children to share in the beauty and joy of life. This paper provides discourses of preschool teachers who design an aesthetic education curriculum and offers practical, concrete suggestions that can support the aesthetic education of young children in Taiwan.

The educational system in many contemporary African nations is faced with many challenges amongst which are the quest for effective teaching and learning methodology. This paper therefore examines the methodological value and inherent potentials within the ambits of drama/ cultural performances that embraces 'edu-tainment' concepts to identifying a problem while seeking plausible means of finding solutions to the identified problems in a participatory induced order. 'Edu-tainment' in this order refers to a form of entertainment activity designed to educate, amuse or entertain and instruct by embedding lessons in form of live acts, television, computer, multimedia and video games. The suitability and preference of this educational mode especially amongst the youth is a sine-qua-non essentially because of their restless gabs and proneness to boredom. The viewership of Super Story among Ibadan South-West Local Government residents was analysed to elicit knowledge for improved educational access. Survey research method using multistage and convenient sampling techniques was used with 500 copies of questionnaire distributed. The analysis of data showed that 100% of the respondents watch soap opera series and super story while 71.4% maintained viewership due to captivating storylines. Further findings suggest that soaps can be used to preserve culture and improve educational access; carefully designed Entertainment-Education programmes are viable requiring the designing and conscious implementation of media messages with the aim of educating the target audience to fulfill the functions of information, education and entertainment.

The paper examines the transformative potential unveiled by the integration of indigenous epistemology into an experimental learning community program in Hawai'i. Through contextual analysis of the author's direct participation in classroom interactions, cultural and service learning activities, the final project, and the culminating event, the paper unravels the twofold process. On the one hand, indigenous epistemology in action integrated classroom, placed-based service learning, and cultural activities into a holistic learning experience. On the other hand, it also connected diverse communities in an interdependent relationship through the resonance of its foundational concepts: shared responsibility (kuleana) to the "homeland that feeds" ('aina) and its ecosystems. Interdependence of diverse communities and learning activities formed through such resonance provides an opportunity for transformation.

This paper presents an outline of the history and the current orientation of informal learning in museums, museum pedagogy. This is the result of a lengthy process over the last two centuries, which became particularly intensive from the 1960s, in which museums looked for deeper ways to communicate with visitors, starting from basic presentation activity with occasional spoken commentaries. From this, modern museums have developed specialised ways of working with different age groups of visitors, which can be referred to collectively as museum pedagogy and museum education. These activities not only strengthen the experience of museum exhibits and exhibitions but also allow information to be communicated using collection items in a playful way, through informal learning. Museums' current focus on communication and working with visitors owes much to the long development of heritage institutions, the stabilisation of their position in cultural and social systems, in cultural policy and strategy and the overall significance of the collections of museums and galleries for our modern knowledge societies. The aim of this paper is to outline the historical development and direction of museums' educational activities to the present.

Introduction: The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the international history of community culture and culture-based adult learning through showing the initiatives of a Post-Socialist country through introducing some initiatives from 1950, without claim for completeness. Additions to the History of Community Culture and Culture-based Adult Education and Learning in Hungary. Purpose: Our questions include how the political and legal environment, and the spread of the mass media influenced the cultural activities and the community culture, and what culture-based adult learning initiatives and activities can be identified in the area of culture. Methods: To its realization we chose horizontal and vertical analysing viewpoints. The horizontal viewpoint of our investigation is the linearity of timeline, while the vertical analysing viewpoint is the characteristics of political and legal environment having influence on culture-based adult education (cf. non-formal and informal cultural learning) and showing the work of some significant personalities, through synthetizing archive sources and literature background. Conclusions: The changing of the regime brought reform on this area, too, it basically changed the profession and the training as well: the community culture builds on local initiatives and active participation, includes the training, creating artistic, informational activity of the citizens, based on their self-activities.

Some of the simplest affordances of study abroad became unavailable when students stayed stateside because of the pandemic-induced disruptions to international travel. These ranged from touring city and historical/cultural landmarks, having spontaneous and chance interactions with locals, participating in the performance of traditions and practices, visiting homes, engaging in "domestic" activities with host families and local peers, and developing a sense of community with other fellow students. This paper reports on three alternate, virtual cultural activities that were launched during the pandemic between a U.S. university and its study abroad partner institution in Morocco in order to help compensate for the health disruption. Survey responses, cultural products, and reflections from 118 participants were collected for this study over two Arabic summer intensive programs at the stateside university. The study explores the effectiveness of these activities in promoting intercultural competence and student engagement during this period and speculates on how they can be integrated into the regular programming post-pandemic in order to further enhance immersion.

Orphans and children left without parental care remain a pressing challenge for many countries. This paper deals with the topical subject which needs thorough consideration: peculiarities of psychological development of orphans and children left without parental care and training orphanage inmates for social interaction. The 7-months study was conducted on 15-16-year-old orphans at Elabuga, the Republic of Tatarstan, and Russian Federation. Data were collected with a designed questionnaire based on the Temperament and Character Inventory for personality traits devised by Robert Cloninger. 20 apparently healthy orphans and children left without parental care were selected using simple random sampling technique and allocated into two groups. Within the experiment the two groups of orphan children had separate Physical education classes in subgroups.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how the socio-political rituals such as national festivals and student pledges have changed in the Turkish Republic primary schools over the last twenty years. Method: The data used to achieve this purpose was collected from four different sources; the applicable legislation, statements of policymakers, teacher organizations and an interview with primary school class teachers. Findings: Developments in politics have affected both the daily life and the celebration of special occasions in primary schools considerably. Abolishing the Student Pledge which took place in 2013 can be regarded as the most important alteration in the everyday life of the school since the foundation of the Turkish Republic. The most significant change in the celebration of special occasions in primary schools was made in 2012, and was ostensibly to free the marking of these festivals from their militaristic framework. However, a knock-on effect of this change appeared to be a waning of enthusiasm for such festivals in general. After the failed coup attempt on 15th July 2016, Turkey announced the 15th July Democracy and National Unity Day. During the first week of the school year, activities are carried out for this day.

Italy, a country with a great cultural tradition and a founding member of the European Union (EU), since 2004 very actively contributes to the cultural cooperation activities of EU with non European countries. This paper is a detailed review of the status of those activities, which can be subdivided into joint "Master Mundus" Actions and bilateral teaching and research cooperation agreements established between Italian and Chinese higher education institutions. The University of Padova (UP) has been adopted as a relevant a case study, with teaching and research cooperations spanning from the "S&T" to "Medicine," "Law" and "Humanities." The results obtained so far are promising.

Student volunteer experiences are ubiquitous within higher education contexts. Despite this, there is further scope for understanding the qualitatively different ways students experience volunteering. To achieve this an explicit focus on understanding volunteer experiences from the students' perspective and the relationship these experiences have with student learning is vital. This paper used a phenomenographic research approach to present the experiences of seven students involved in an interdisciplinary volunteer program in a community literature festival. The findings revealed experiences ranging from authentic learning to more sophisticated and amplified student experiences. While all students in this study found volunteering to be beneficial, we argue that differentiation of volunteer opportunities for students strengthens the provision for rich student learning through volunteering and the potential for students to be active in social change activities through volunteering.

Traditional alcoholic-beverages have been used by the tribes since ages. Bonda is one of the 62 Schedule Tribes and 13 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups of Odisha, who reside in the southern part of the state. Historically, a number of traditional alcohols have been produced by the Bonda which is consumed widely and used in the socio-economic and cultural events. Current times evidence the production and use of traditional alcohols gradually giving way to modern alcoholic drinks. In this context this paper tries to document different types of traditional alcohols produced, consumed and used by the Bonda along with its various impacts on the individual drinker and the society. The data were collected through community-based research in four villages under Khairaput block of Malkangiri, Odisha. The study found that 23 types of traditional alcohols are produced by the Bonda households, who derive economic security there from. However, the production, consumption and use of traditional alcohols are on the decline with the gradual increase of foreign liquor and this paper suggests institutional support for the clean production and marketing of traditional alcohols of the Bonda tribe. The paper deals with the problem of historiography, presented in three stages: the first stage (50-90s of the XX century) is characterized by the introduction of a scientific apparatus expertise creating the preconditions of differences between concepts, the release of an independent direction of history of social and cultural activities. In the second phase (90-2000s) pedagogical research appears on the problem of the formation of different types of competence (professional, informational, social, psychological, communication, legal, social, cultural and educational). The methodology of historical and educational research created and refined conceptual framework of social and cultural activities. The third phase (2000 to the present) is characterized by comprehensive research in the field of information competence, substantiation of theoretical and methodological framework, the researchers conducted an analysis of the phenomenon of leisure activities from the standpoint of the theory of culture, an emphasis on cultural needs, which are the motivation for leisure-time activities.

Recent research indicates that in many college English classrooms, faculties continue to rely on New Critical approaches to teaching literature that focus analysis on the formal qualities of a text (Addington, 2001; Barrow, 2009; Bialostosky, 2006). Teachers using this method rarely invite students to bring their life experiences into their interactions with texts and each other. This leads us to wonder how much is lost when the cultural knowledge students bring into the classroom is rejected because of teaching approaches that do not recognize, as reading reception theorists such as Bleich (1975), Fish (1980), and Rosenblatt (1995) have, that reading is a profoundly social act. In contrast to formal institutions of learning, adult reading groups provide greater opportunities to explore how readers bring their cultural backgrounds to bear on their interaction with texts. The purpose of this paper is to investigate how the members of a Black woman book club drew from shared cultural and linguistic resources to make intertextual connections between a mystery novel, "Buying Time" (Young, 2009), which details the travails of a disbarred lawyer, who is married to a materialistic "gold digging" woman, and iconic Rhythm and Blues (R&B) songs. The following research question guides this study: What cultural and linguistic resources did the participants draw upon during the book discussion and how did this enhance their understanding of the gender issues raised in the text?

Lesson study is recognised as a cultural activity and its implementation in a context different from Japan is a complex process. Researchers' role in this process is assumed to be critical, although this has rarely been investigated. In this paper, we analyse a teaching experiment to introduce lesson study into a professional development course for prospective teachers at an Italian university, focusing our investigation on a group of researchers acting as teacher educators (didacticians). Using the anthropological theory of the didactic and meta-didactical transposition frameworks, we investigate their dual position as researchers and as teacher educators. We observe the evolution of the didacticians' teacher-education praxeology (a model of practice and knowledge) during their interactions with prospective teachers. The results indicate that the didacticians' teacher-education praxeology is distinguished, shaped, and actively influenced by their research praxeology. The results also imply that coordinating the two theoretical frameworks may guide the design and analysis of teachers' professional development courses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Tankersley et al. published a paper suggesting that a cosmic airburst caused the decline of the Hopewell culture in Cincinnati during the 3rd or 4th century CE. However, this claim is not supported by archaeological investigations in the Middle Ohio River Valley, which have found no evidence of a widespread catastrophe or social decline. Other recent papers linking extraterrestrial events to ancient cultural declines have also been challenged on methodological and theoretical grounds. The Hopewell archaeological record actually shows gradual changes rather than a catastrophic event. Tankersley et al.'s argument is based on misinterpretations and mischaracterizations of the Hopewell archaeological record and lacks substantive evidence. [Extracted from the article]

Ecocriticism is a field that is inherently cross-cultural, and poetry is an art form that creates bonds across cultural communities. This paper focuses on Gary Snyder, a prominent poet in his own right, who is famous for his translation of the works by Chinese poet Han Shan. His attraction to Chinese classical poetry and Eastern civilization offers an alternative to the Western developmental paradigm, and the ecopoetry he espouses is pertinent to today's environmental debates. His references to nature do not function merely as reminders that nature should be respected but as an impetus to reflect on the coexistence of multiple temporalities and agencies. This paper examines Chinese poetry's inspirational effect on Snyder and analyzes his translations of Han Shan's poetry. Snyder's ecocritical insights have had a wide influence, particularly on the work of Hong Kong poet Xi Xi. This circulation of poetry offers a means of bridging Western and Eastern cultures. The mutual enrichment achieved by such cultural translations provides a means of transcending the simplistic dichotomies of the East and West. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this paper is to enable a better understanding of the possibilities of prison library services and offer evidence that can help to support efforts to align policy and practice in prison library provision. Alongside an examination of existing policies, guidelines and literature, the paper presents findings that emerged from interviews with six prison library experts, undertaken as part of a recent national review of prison library services in Ireland. Following a discussion of these findings, a set of ten principles for prison library provision in Ireland is presented which holds relevance for global prison library policy and practice. As well as providing research-informed evidence for those in policymaking roles, the findings will be of interest to practitioners and researchers advocating for improved access to prison library services. Education and culture are seen as key components of the learning process. In this context, discussions about the quality of education and approaches to strengthening educational values, as well as the importance of culture in the transmission of these values, are becoming increasingly relevant. However, in Latvia, studies regarding people who attend various cultural events do not focus on strengthening educational values or linking them to the cultural context. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to explore how educational values are linked to current trends in cultural offerings and how they are reflected in teacher education. The research methodology followed a qualitative and quantitative research paradigm and the specifics of interdisciplinary research. The data were obtained using surveys and focus group discussions. The overall strategy of the study is based on a holistic, multidisciplinary approach that takes the regional discourse in Latvia into account. The research results prove that cultural experiences have contributed to the development of most respondents' personalities and emphasize the role of teachers in the transmission of educational values. The qualitative and educational content of cultural offerings promotes a culture of discussion, strengthens community consciousness, and shapes cultural taste. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In modern and future communication systems, we expect peaks of traffic that largely exceed the capacity of the system, since they are originally designed to support normal traffic loads. Such peaks can be caused by emergency events and cultural or sporting gatherings, among others. Indeed, implementing more channels than the ones required in normal traffic conditions would entail higher costs and energy consumption. As such, when a traffic peak arrives, the system performance is greatly affected. To this end, we propose the use of mobile channels that assist cellular systems to increase the capacity of the network for a certain period. In this paper, we derive the blocking probability of a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle)-assisted cellular system to temporarily increase the capacity of the communication network in case of a traffic overload. The analysis presented in this work allows a careful design of future communication systems requiring fewer channels, that can serve users in normal traffic load conditions while using UAVs to maintain an adequate blocking probability when the traffic load increases. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to understand how everyday cross-cultural interactions affected the adjustment of undergraduate international students attending a private university in the northeastern United States of America. Design/methodology/approach: Data were collected primarily through interviews with nine international students and observations at "Eastern University". Students were purposively selected to balance gender and world regions. Analysis used constant comparison until findings emerged, which were member-checked with study participants (Merriam, 2009). Findings: Findings show that the impact of university diversity initiatives for promoting everyday cross-cultural interactions is described as creating an us/them divide, promoting solidarity and establishing a cultural presence. It is concluded that formal university events foster recognition of the campus diversity international students help provide, but their impact on everyday cross-cultural interactions is both positive and negative. Additionally, the mode by which undergraduate international students are introduced to their US campus affects their integration and future interaction patterns. Research limitations/implications: Further research is needed to explore higher education institutions (HEIs)' connection to human resource development (HRD) for shaping the future global arena. Studies that address the continuum from higher education to the workforce are needed to prepare the next generation of professionals for a global world. This study is limited due to small sample size. Findings are not generalizable in a statistical sense, but HRD professionals in HEIs may compare the details in this study with their own institutions. Originality/value: This study contributes to the discussion of national HRD by addressing international students and their insights into how diversity programs impact adjustment in an American setting. Additionally, organizational and faculty development initiatives in academic institutions can be improved by understanding the insights found in this study.

A healthy existence depends on adequate nutrition, which is a basic human need. As a result of their economic, social and cultural activities, indigenous peoples have different dietary habits that vary throughout the world. The nutritional status of tribal groups is inadequate because they do not know about their food and the nutrients associated with it. Numerous factors influence their knowledge, including their level of education and their proximity to government institutions. However, they also have a strong traditional knowledge about their environment, food availability, health problems, etc. This paper is based on some studies and articles dealing with the traditional knowledge and food habits of the tribal groups. It also deals with the food available to the people in different places, the nutrients they get, their impact on health and the risk factors arising from nutritional deficiency. It also covers the details of research publications that have been published and analysed by specific time periods, groups and areas. The current review includes data from the research articles available on Google Scholar, Pub Med and J-Store. This paper provides data on possible musical activities and cultural programs that were realized in various forms of captivity in the Kerestinec, Stara Gradiška, Jasenovac, and Kraljevica camps in the period 1941-1945. Based on archival documents and the testimonies of survivors which confirm the existence of several music groups in the mentioned camps, the paper presents the hitherto known repertoire that was performed at cultural events and concert programs, and critically examines the different types and circumstances of the musical and theatrical activities that were registered in the camps. This paper seeks to underline the pivotal role the Russian language played in nurturing a rich educational and cultural atmosphere in Soviet Armenia. In fact, Russian greatly contributed to the shaping of the educational environment exerting immense influence on the academic progress and intellectual growth. It aims to provide insight into the translation traditions prevalent in the Soviet era where Russian assumed the crucial role of a cultural facilitator. In fact, it served as an intermediary language for not only Armenia, but also other Soviet republics making the large body of foreign literature accessible for Soviet readers. Yet, following the abolition of the Soviet regime, translation practices and methodologies experienced a sudden transformation guaranteeing the rapid transition from translations mediated by Russian to direct translation approaches. We believe this study will help shed light on the interplay of language and culture in the context of Armenian's historic journey from the Soviet era to the present day. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The gradual or rapid deterioration of cultural heritage buildings can be a source of the loss of heritage assets over time. Cultural heritage encompasses tangible and intangible aspects of a society's heritage, including historical buildings, archaeological sites, artworks, artifacts, traditions, customs, and ethnic customs. This research paper investigated the causes and effects of the deterioration of the heritage system from the Madhyapur Thimi in Nepal. A case study of tangible heritage (Thimi settlement) and intangible heritage (Bisket Jatra—community celebrations—and Ritual Guthi—a local group formed to conduct cultural activities) helped to achieve the objectives of this study. The existing unique cultures from the Madhyapur Thimi, including the built culture, Guthi, Bisket Jatra, and Ritual Guthi area support the sustainable development of heritage structures to some extent. The cultural heritage is now at risk due to institutional inadequacies, economic and social issues, resource depletion, and natural disasters such as earthquakes and hurricanes. Policy should be modified, and heritage should be conserved and maintained well for future generations to own it as an identity and pride of the Thimi community. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The use of augmented reality (AR) is the only meaningful way towards the creation and integration of information into a cultural (and not only) analogue leaflet, flyer and poster, which by their nature have limited informational material. The enrichment of information, which an analogue leaflet has, with additional descriptive information (text), multimedia (image, video, sound), 3-D models, etc., gives the end recipient/user a unique experience of approaching and understanding a music event, for example. The Digi-Orch is a research project that aims to create smart printed communication materials (e.g., posters, concert programme booklets) and an accompanying AR application to provide this enhanced audience experience to classical music lovers. The paper presents the ways in which AR can extend and enrich an analogue leaflet/flyer/poster, the features of and how to use the developed AR application, as well as the components, architecture and functions of the system. It also presents the different versions of the AR application within the project, starting with the laboratory versions, continuing with the pilot versions in real conditions (music events) and reaching the final prototype and the educational version of the AR application. Backround: According to the 2011 census, approximately 12% of the population of Slovakia declared their belonging to national minorities. Government funding has been available to organizations engaged in minority cultural activities since 1998, and since then it has become the most important income source for minority organizations. Besides these, minorities with a kin state may draw on resources coming from the latter as well, but this is out of the scope of this paper. In the period between 2011 and 2017, the culture of minorities was funded by the Government Office of Slovakia under the auspices of the funding program "Culture of National Minorities". Since 2018 the Fund for the Support of Minority Culture has been funding these projects. With the reform, minorities have received more control over the distribution of the budget, which also became much larger. Objectives: The aim of the paper is twofold. It analyzes the system itself which encompasses the changes and continuities in the funding system in terms of rules, priorities, and the budget, but also the changes in the activity of the organizations, the distribution of project proposals by project type, and the type and nationality of the applicant. Besides this, the data provided by the donors are utilized for the sake of the analysis of the composition and structure of minority institutional systems in Slovakia. The analysis is based on documents and data published by the donors on the internet. Conclusion: By transferring the right of decision to councils elected by the minority organizations themselves, there was a potential for significant change in the priorities guiding the decisions. However, the comparison showed that in several respects the new system resembles the former to a considerable degree. Arguably the biggest change was the doubling of the budget. Nevertheless, this did not lead to a similar increase in the number of applicants or proposed projects. In general, smaller minorities were more successful than the larger ones. Nonprofit organizations were the favored type of organizations, and publishing and cultural activities and events were the most successful of the various project types. The data also provided insights into the size, composition and structure of minority institutional systems. While the Hungarians, Roma and Rusyns maintain a relatively extensive institutional system with many organizations, the institutional systems of smaller communities consist of only a handful of organizations. The analysis of the internal structure and inequalities within institutional systems showed, that the smaller minorities, in fact, tend to rely on an even more limited number of hierarchically structured organizations that try to cover as wide a range of activities as possible and receive the dominant share of the funding allocated to the respective minorities. This paper, entitled The Footsteps of Tengku Luckman Sinar, his Work and Contribution to the Academic World, aims to get to know Tengku Lukman Sinar (TLS), his work, especially in the field of history, and his usefulness in the academic world. The method used is descriptive qualitative through a historical approach consisting of steps, heuristics (collection of data relevant to the topic of study, both primary and secondary), verification (criticism of external and internal sources), interpretation and analysis, and writing (historiography). The results show that TLS was the son of Sultan Sulaiman Shariful Alamsyah, a Malay aristocrat from the Fifth Serdang Sultanate. He is known as a cultural figure because he was involved in typical Malay cultural activities. TLS believed that Malay is a broad entity covering the region of Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Oceania, to New Zealand, and Madagascar. Malay civilization has values to frame ethnic groups in the archipelago in the form of a unity with different diversity, and if combined culturally has tremendous potential. TLS was a resource person in various scientific forums, both local, national, and international. In actualizing his thoughts, TLS wrote and published papers and books, especially in the socio-cultural field, including the field of history. Various historical works have been published, both independently, by publishers, by the Provincial Government of North Sumatra, and Deli Serdang Regency. The existence of TLS provides a comprehensive, factual, and accurate picture of a figure or culturalist with special characteristics, especially working in the field of history, from which academics can use as inspiration and reference in writing scientific works such as scientific articles, theses, dissertation, as well as a legacy that can be processed into a new vital force in the millennial era according to the present. The high degree of the environment instability generates the need to apply not only a strategy, but also a range of management practices as well as tools to the day-to-day operations of cultural institutions. Strategy can therefore be seen as a modern way for continuous adaptation to the environment. Having and implementing a strategy, including marketing strategies, is important not only from perspective of the declining participation and attendance in cultural events in the Polish society, but also because of the need to meet the requirements of effective operation. Hence the emerging question: how to manage a cultural institution whose survival nowadays is more than ever dictated by an unclear future scenario? This paper will present the strategic concepts of the Polish philharmonics and orchestras, which are a response to the challenges of the environment with different attitudes and activities. Qualitative research in form of the individual in-depth interviews (IDI), which form the basis of the study, was conducted between May 2022 and May 2023. They were concerned with management tools currently used by managers and directors of public cultural institutions – in case of this study, these were philharmonics and orchestras. Transcripts of a total of 25 in-depth interviews were analysed, then categorised and compiled using qualitative research support software. The conclusions that emerged from the literature review and qualitative research indicate a strong diversification in the attitudes of philharmonic managers. The hybridisation of artistic activities means that, as never before, philharmonics are diversifying not only their identity, but also the range of activities as well as their effect. Thousands of theatres were built during the Hellenistic period in Greece and overseas colonies. The main elements of the Hellenistic theatre are the following: the orchestra, where music and songs were performed to accompany the acting performance, and the koilon, where the audience sat. Hellenistic theatres were built without any ceiling, with an open-air configuration. This paper reports the acoustic characteristics of the Greek (Hellenistic) theatre located in Morgantina (Sicily, Italy) based on the technical data gathered in different listening positions selected across the sitting area (koilon). The theatre of Morgantina was built in the third century BC and renovated a few decades ago. Nowadays, it is the center of important social and cultural activities. The outcomes of the beamforming technique employed for the survey have been discussed in comparison with traditional acoustic parameters, such as ISO 3382. The aim of this paper is to place the first period of Leonardo Sciascia's literary activity, between the 1950s and the 1960s, within a unitary framework which finds one of its main features in the dialogue established with hispanidad, with contemporary history and with Hispanic literary culture. Through the references to George Orwell's and Federico García Lorca's literary works, to Unamuno's thought and Vittorio Bodini's activity as translator and cultural mediator between Italy and Spain, a Hispanic constellation of texts and suggestions takes shape, nourishing both the civil and the literary profile of the Sicilian writer. The article deals with the concept of 'Chomkan' performed by the Karbi tribe in North East India. This rite is one of the most important rituals of the Karbis. It is the post-funeral ritual of the Karbis and deals with various aspects of life and death, including rebirth and regeneration in the next life. The Karbis' verbal and non-verbal art forms reflect the philosophy and worldview of the Chomkan ritual. Chomkan is a very complex, multi-layered and elaborate cultural and social event. It is a communal ritual that is very chaotic, colourful and expensive. A large number of people from the respective clan as well as the entire population of the village are needed to perform the ritual. Each family traditionally and historically had a specific place or location where the Chomkan was performed. This research paper will discuss the significance of the Chomkan ritual for the Karbis, focusing particularly on the question of the particular impact and memories of a family member. It will address the difficulties faced by the family in coping with the current rate of urbanisation and the consequences faced by the workers in the construction of the KASA stadium or public spaces. With the development of the economy and people's longing for a better living environment, the smart and environmentally friendly ecological environment has entered a period of intensive research. However, the current ecological environment resources cannot be used reasonably, and word of mouth and tourism economy are showing negative growth. In order to be able to conduct an in-depth study of the ecological environment, based on "Internet +" and perceived value, this paper builds a comprehensive evaluation model of a smart and environmentally friendly ecological environment based on a multiple perception system. This article establishes an evaluation index system that combines two systems of multiple perception systems and ecological environment, six secondary indicators, and 22 three-level indicators. In this paper, the comprehensive evaluation value of the smart environmental protection ecological environment is 0.78595, and the level of the multi-perception system is good. At the same time, the corresponding evaluation values of visual perception, functional service perception, and cultural and activity perception are 0.75431, 0.70196, and 0.78846, respectively. The comprehensive evaluation value of the ecological environment is 0.65734, and the level of ecological environment development is average. The corresponding evaluation values of the subsystem environmental quality level, environmental pressure level, and environmental improvement level are 0.69943, 0.63491, and 0.60279, respectively. The coordination value of the multi-perception system and the ecological environment is 0.9978, which is an ultra-high-level coordination stage. Tourism is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world today. In Tanzania, a large percentage of tourism development relies on wildlife resources, resulting in tremendous pressure on the biological hotspot. However, resources such as archaeological caves found at Kisho ward are relatively undeveloped to carter tourism purposes. This paper, therefore, explored ways in which Chaga archaeological caves can be used as a new opportunity for tourism product diversification. More specifically study examined reasons for the Chaga tribe to construct caves; assessed the current state of Chaga archaeological caves; and ascertained potential caves activities that could enhance tourism. The study found that caves were constructed by the Chaga tribe in the 18th century to provide shelter and protection during warfare. It was further found that caves were disused and dilapidated despite being an important asset to local people's culture and the tourism industry. Caves were also found to contain history which can be linked with other cultural activities such as village walks and coffee tours. The paper concluded that if caves tourism were established could not only enhance the visitor experience and extended stays but also reduce mammoth pressure exerting on wildlife hotspots. This paper is about poetry and pilgrimage in Tembilahan, Indragiri Hilir, where Abdurrahman Siddiq, a prominent alim who lived in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, is buried. In addition to his treatises on theology, mysticism, and ethics, Abdurrahman Siddiq is also renowned for his contribution to Islamic literature in Sumatra. He is a famous Islamic scholar and is respected in Indragiri Hilir for his spiritual messages delivered in the form of sya'ir (poetry). Malay Muslims have preserved the saint's legacy through the act of pilgrimage and various cultural events and festivals. This paper argues that the recitation of Abdurrahman Siddiq's poems during the pilgrimage to Tembilahan and Islamic festivals shows how Malay Muslims honor their respected saint. Consistent evaluation procedures would be necessary to assess correctly the impacts of sport and cultural events, in particular large events. This paper reviews methodological issues in CBA of sport and cultural events based on what appears as the first attempt to provide guidelines for such analysis: the Framework used by New South Wales Treasury. This framework actually deals with most of the questions that an analyst would have to consider on this issue. Based on this document, we propose various possible amendments, which mostly relate to a fuller consideration of opportunity costs, displacement and other General Equilibrium effects. This paper is concerned with the role of human institutions as generators of architectural form, with reference to the writings and works of Peter Behrens, Jørn Utzon, and Louis Kahn. In contrast with the narrow functionalist approach promoted by some of their contemporaries, these architects regarded human institutions as living entities that ought to have a determinative influence on the design of the buildings constructed to house them. The paper considers these architects' assumptions regarding the concept of 'institution' within a broad social and political context and offers some suggestions for a more systematic investigation in that respect. The paper begins with a brief outline of functionalist theory, then turns to the theatre as a primary cultural activity and the prominent place it held in Behrens's thinking during the opening years of the 20th century. Affinities are explored between Behrens's concept of the theatre and Utzon's subsequent treatment of the theatre as a central civic institution in his design for the Sydney Opera House. A parallel is seen in Louis Kahn's insistence that an architectural project should begin with a vision of the human institution which the project is to serve, a principle that was implicit in utopian and radical schemes from the 19th century onwards. The concluding sections of the paper raise some questions about the doctrines of Behrens, Utzon, and (especially) Kahn, by considering how institutions are adapted to their socio-political settings and how they affect architectural outcomes in practice. Cultural heritage plays a significant role in shaping the identity of a region but recognizing cultural events poses a notable challenge in the field of computer vision. In this paper, a novel framework is proposed that blends convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and spatial feature learning for identifying Indian cultural events from image samples. The proposed method first starts by extracting spatial characteristics that capture important information about cultural events using graph-based visual saliency. These extracted images were then fed to a DenseNet201 model for event recognition. This model had an SVM classifier as the last model layer instead of the Softmax layer. The work uses a comprehensive dataset for training and model evaluation which achieves a significant accuracy of 82.50%. The proposed methodology shows efficient results when measured against state-of-the-art methods for cultural event recognition over other datasets. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
