Background: Presenteeism has become a significant issue related to health. However, the effect of fatigue and organizational identification on the relationship between emotional labor and presenteeism among Chinese nurses remains unclear. This study aims to explore the correlation of Chinese nurses' emotional labor, fatigue and organizational identification with presenteeism, and to analyze the mediating effect of fatigue and the moderating effect of organizational identification on the relationship between emotional labor and presenteeism. Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed from June to October 2022 in Changchun City, Jilin Province, China. In total, 1,630 nurses were asked to complete a range of self-administered questionnaires, including the Emotional Labor Scale, the Fatigue Scale, the Organizational Identification Scale and the Stanford Presenteeism Scale. Besides, the PROCESS macro and multiple linear regression were used for moderated mediation analysis. Results: Emotional labor (r = 0.108, P < 0.001) and fatigue (r = 0.475, P < 0.001) were positively correlated with presenteeism, while organizational identification (r = -0.261, P < 0.001) was negatively correlated with presenteeism. The effect of emotional labor on presenteeism was partially mediated by fatigue (Effect = 0.014, 95% CI = [0.007, 0.021]). Additionally, the relationship between emotional labor and fatigue was moderated by organizational identification (P = 0.018 for the interaction term). Conclusions: Fatigue and organizational identification have mediating and moderating effects on the relationship between emotional labor and presenteeism, respectively. Targeted support measures should be taken to improve the presenteeism of nurses. Nursing managers can relieve the psychological pressure and fatigue of nurses by establishing emotional release channels, and improve the presenteeism of nurses through enhancing organizational identification. COVID‐19 brought many difficulties for medical workers' mental health. They tend to exhibit a high turnover rate, which has deteriorated the situation of high demands on the healthcare workforce. Thus, enhancing medical interns' resilience is of great significance. Previous studies have delved into how job crafting relates to resilience, but there has been limited exploration of how the three dimensions of job crafting interplay with resilience. Thus, our research examined the moderating role of social media use intensity in associations between task crafting, cognitive crafting, relational crafting, and resilience. A total of 605 medical interns were obtained. The results revealed that task crafting, cognitive crafting, and relational crafting exhibited significant and positive associations with resilience. More importantly, social media use intensity moderated associations between task crafting, cognitive crafting, and resilience, with these associations being weaker for individuals with high levels of social media use intensity. However, the moderating role of social media use intensity was not significant between relational crafting and resilience. Finally, the findings provided some guidance for instructors to enhance medical interns' resilience and thus prepare them for employment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To investigate the impact of vitamin A (VA), vitamin D (VD), and homocysteine (Hcy) on cardiometabolic multimorbidity (CMM). Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study conducted in Ningxia Province, China. A total of 5000 participants aged 25–74 were recruited and divided into two groups based on the definition of cardiometabolic multimorbidity: the CMM group and the Non CMM group. Demographic, lifestyle, and laboratory data were collected to investigate the correlation between vitamin A, D, Hcy levels and CMM risk. The association was analyzed using multiple logistic regression and restricted cubic spline method. Results: CMM incidence increased with age, being higher in females (20.05%) compared to males, Hypertension was present in 96.20% of CMM cases. Reduced VD levels correlated with an elevated CMM risk (OR = 1.799, 95% CI: 1.466–2.238), showing an inverse dose-response relationship, even after adjusting for confounders (OR = 1.553, 95% CI: 1.233–1.956). However, VA and Hcy levels were not significantly associated with CMM risk. The inverse correlation between VD status and CMM risk was more pronounced in males, obese individuals, and those with normal blood lipid profiles (P < 0.05). Conclusions: The risk of CMM increases with age, especially in women. Inadequate VD status increases vulnerability to CMM, suggesting that optimising VD reduces the risk of CMM. Background: Follistatin-like protein 1 (FSTL1) has been identified as a secreted glycoprotein that plays an important role in obesity. However, its role in children with metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) has not been investigated. This study aimed at characterizing the relationship between serum FSTL1 concentration and MAFLD in children with obesity. Methods: A total of 121 subjects were recruited from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, including 45 obese children with MAFLD, 31 obese children without MAFLD, and 45 healthy controls. Anthropometric parameters, biochemical data were measured and circulating FSTL1 levels were detected by ELISA. Results: The levels of FSTL1 in obese children with MAFLD were higher than that in obese children without MAFLD: 1.31 (0.35–2.29) ng/mL vs. 0.55 (0.36–1.38) ng/mL. Correlation analysis illustrated that FSTL1 was associated with nonesterified free fatty acid and leptin (r = 0.278, P < 0.05 and r = 0.572, P < 0.05, respectively). Binary logistic regression suggested that increased FSTL1 was a risk factor for MAFLD in children (OR = 1.105, 95% CI: 1.066–1.269, P < 0.05). Introduction: Oligomeric alpha-synuclein in red blood cells (RBC-o-α-Syn) has been shown to be increased in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). However, factors that affect RBC-o-α-Syn levels remain to be elucidated. The aim of this study is to analyze the correlations between RBC-o-α-Syn levels and the age, sex and different clinical variables of patients with PD. Methods: 167 patients with PD and 119 healthy controls (HC) were enrolled in this study. The patients with PD were diagnosed based on the MDS clinical diagnostic criteria for PD. All participants were evaluated for their clinical characteristics. Western blot analysis was used to examine the molecular sizes of RBC-o-α-Syn. A newly established chemiluminescent immunoassay was used to measure RBC-o-α-Syn levels. Results: Higher RBC-o-α-Syn levels were detected in PD patients than in HC subjects. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve indicated that a cut off value of 55.29 ng/mg discriminated well between PD patients and HC subjects, with a sensitivity of 67.66% (95% CI: 60.24-74.29%), a specificity of 88.24% (95% CI: 81.22-92.86%), and an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.857. The levels of RBC-o-α-Syn were higher in female than male patients (p = 0.033). For different subtypes, the levels of RBC-o-α-Syn were higher in the MIX subtype than the tremor-dominant (TD) PD. In addition, the levels of RBC-o-α-Syn were higher in patients with than without cognitive impairment (p = 0.016), and negatively correlated with Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) scores (r = -0.156, p = 0.044). Conclusion: Our study demonstrates that RBC-o-α-Syn levels in patients with PD are higher than those in HC subjects and affected by the sex and the severity of cognitive impairment. Objectives: Parkinson disease (PD) is the third leading cause of mortality among middle‐aged and older individuals in China. This study aimed to explore the trends and distribution features of PD mortality in China from 2013 to 2021 and make predictions for the next few decades. Methods: Relevant data were obtained from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention Disease Surveillance Point system. The joinpoint regression model was used to evaluate trends. The R software was used to predict future trends. Results: Age‐standardized mortality rate (ASMR) of PD increased from 0.59 per 100,000 individuals to 1.22 per 100,000 individuals from 2013 to 2021, with an average annual percent change (AAPC) of 9.50 (95% CI: 8.24–10.78). The all‐age ASMR of PD were higher in male individuals than in female individuals, and ASMR increased with age. The number of deaths and ASMR increased gradually from west to east and from rural to urban areas. Furthermore, ASMR is expected to increase to 2.66 per 100,000 individuals by 2040. Conclusions: The heightened focus on the ASMR of PD among male individuals, urban areas, eastern China, and individuals aged ≥85 years has become a key determinant in further decreasing mortality, thereby exhibiting novel challenges to effective strategies for disease prevention and control. Background: Female sex workers (FSW) are particularly vulnerable to unintended pregnancy. Research examining the experience of unintended pregnancy due to commercial sex among Chinese FSW, however, is limited. This study aimed to examine the prevalence and correlates of unintended pregnancy due to commercial sex among FSW in China. Methods: In 2021, a cross-sectional study was conducted among 1257 FSW in five cities from Guangdong provinces in South China. Data were collected on social-demographic characteristics, sexual behaviors, experience of unintended pregnancy due to commercial sex and its pregnancy outcome, as well as experience of abortion in lifetime. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was employed to identify factors associated with unintended pregnancy. Results: Among the 1257 FSW, 19.3% reported having at least one unintended pregnancy due to commercial sex. Of those, 96.7% chose to terminate the pregnancy through induced abortion, and 40.5% reported undergoing multiple induced abortions in their lifetime. Multivariable logistic regression indicated that FSW working in current location over one year (adjusted Odds Ratio (aOR): 2.82, 95% CI 1.71–4.64) and having more than seven clients in the past week (aOR: 4.53, 95% CI 2.74–7.51) were more likely to have had unintended pregnancy due to commercial sex. Working in high tier (aOR: 0.21, 95% CI 0.14–0.30) and consistent condom use with clients in the past month (aOR: 0.16, 95% CI 0.10–0.23) were associated with a lower proportion of FSW having ever had unintended pregnancy. Conclusions: Unintended pregnancy are prevalent among FSW in South China. Interventions aimed at reducing the prevalence of unintended pregnancy and enhancing post-abortion care could be necessary among Chinese FSW. Background: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) includes a group of metabolic irregularities, including insulin resistance (IR), atherogenic dyslipidemia, central obesity, and hypertension. Consistent evidence supports IR and ongoing low-grade inflammation as the main contributors to MetS pathogenesis. However, the association between the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and mortality in people with MetS remains uncertain. The objective of this study was to examine the correlation between the baseline TyG index and all-cause and cardiovascular (CV) mortality in rural Northeast Chinese individuals with MetS. Methods: For the Northeast China Rural Cardiovascular Health Study, 3918 participants (mean age, 55 ± 10; 62.4% women) with MetS at baseline were enrolled in 2012–2013 and followed up from 2015 to 2017. The TyG index was calculated using the equation TyG index = ln [fasting TG (mg/dL) × fasting glucose (mg/dL)/2] and subdivided into tertiles [Q1(< 8.92); Q2 (8.92–9.36); Q3 (≥ 9.36)]. Multivariate Cox proportional hazards models were developed to examine the correlations between mortality and the baseline TyG index. Results: During a median of 4.66 years of follow-up, 196 (5.0%) all-cause deaths and 108 (2.8%) CV disease-related deaths occurred. The incidence of all-cause mortality was significantly different among TyG index tertiles of the overall population (P = 0.045). Kaplan–Meier analysis demonstrated a significantly increased risk of all-cause mortality in rural Chinese patients with a higher TyG index (log-rank P < 0.05). After adjusting for possible confounders, Cox proportional hazard analysis revealed that the TyG index could effectively predict all-cause mortality (HR for the third vs. first tertile of TyG was 1.441 [95% confidence interval, 1.009–2.059]), but not CV mortality, in rural Chinese patients with MetS. Conclusions: The TyG index is an effective predictor of all-cause mortality in rural Chinese patients with MetS. Objective: The non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease (PD) are an important part of PD. In recent years, more and more non-drug interventions have been applied to alleviate the non-motor symptoms of PD, but the relevant evidence is limited. This systematic review and meta-analysis was designed to evaluate the efficacy of non-drug interventions in patients with non-motor symptoms in patients with PD. Methods: Seven databases, including Pubmed, Embease, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang database (WANFANG), VIP database (VIP), and China Biomedical Literature Service System (CBM) were searched from the establishment of the database to December 2023. Non-drug interventions such as acupuncture, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exercise, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), and non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease were selected as search words, and two independent evaluators evaluated the included literature's bias risk and data extraction. The therapeutic efficacy was evaluated by the Parkinson's Disease Sleep Scale (PDSS), Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), Minimum Mental State Examination (MMSE), and Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire-39 (PDQ-39). RevMan 5.4.1 (Reviewer Manager Software 5.4.1). Cochrane Collaboration, Oxford, United Kingdom analyzed the data and estimated the average effect and the 95% confidence interval (CI). A heterogeneity test is used to assess differences in the efficacy of different non-drug treatments. Results: We selected 36 from 4,027 articles to participate in this meta-analysis, involving 2,158 participants. Our combined results show that: PDSS: [mean difference (MD) =-19.35, 95% CI (-30.4 to -8.28), p<0.0006]; HAMD: [MD = -2.98, 95% CI (-4.29 to -1.67), p<0.00001]; BDI: [MD = -2.69, 95% CI (-4.24 to 4.80), p = 0.006]; HAMA: [MD=-2.00, 95% CI (-2.83 to -1.17), p<0.00001]; MMSE: [MD = 1.20, 95% CI (0.71 to 1.68), p< 0.00001]; CoMA: [MD = 2.10, 95% CI (-0.97 to 3.23), p = 0.0003]; PDQ-39: [MD = -4.03, 95% CI (-5.96 to -1.57), p < 0.00001]. Conclusion: The four non-drug measures used in our review showed significant improvements in sleep, depression, anxiety, cognition, constipation, and quality of life compared with the control group, and no serious adverse events were reported in the included research evidence, and we found that there were some differences among the subgroups of different intervention methods, but due to the less literature included in the subgroup, and the comparison was more indirect. Aim: To evaluate the influencing factors of otitis media with effusion (OME) in children with adenoid hypertrophy and to provide evidence for clinical treatment and care of children with adenoid hypertrophy. Design: A retrospective study. Methods: Preschool children with adenoid hypertrophy treated in our hospital from 1 January 2021 to 30 July 2022 were included. We analysed the characteristics of OME and non‐OME children with adenoid hypertrophy. Pearson correlation analysis and logistic regression analysis were performed to evaluate the risk factors for OME in children with adenoid hypertrophy. Conclusion: A total of 166 children with adenoid hypertrophy were included; the incidence of OME in children with adenoid hypertrophy was 34.94%. The incidence of OME decreased significantly with the increase in age (p = 0.014). Logistic regression analysis showed that age < 3 years (OR = 3.149, 95%CI: 2.812–3.807) and duration of adenoid hypertrophy ≥12 months (OR = 2.326, 95%CI: 2.066–2.612) were the risk factors of OME in children with adenoid hypertrophy (all p < 0.05). Background: Neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy (NCIT) for locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is supported by increasing data, but the sample size is limited, and the findings are not completely consistent. We conducted a real‐world study and a meta‐analysis to evaluate the efficacy and safety of NCIT in locally advanced ESCC. Methods: We retrospectively assessed the outcomes of patients with locally advanced ESCC who completed NICT and subsequent esophagectomy at our hospital between January 2019 and December 2022, including pathological complete response (pCR) rate, major pathological response (MPR) rate, 1‐, 2‐, and 3‐year overall survival (OS) rates, disease control rate (DCR), objective response rate (ORR), 1‐year recurrence rate, R0 resection rate and adverse events. Moreover, a meta‐analysis of 27 published literatures was also conducted for comparison. Results: In the analysis, 128 patients were studied, with 25% achieving pCR, 46.1% MPR, and 99.2% R0 resection. The 1‐, 2‐, and 3‐year OS rates were 91.41% (95% CI: 85.15%–95.63%), 75.00% (95% CI: 66.58%–82.23%) and 64.84% (95% CI: 55.91%–73.07%).ORR and DCR were 31.2% (95% CI: 23.31–39.99) and 64.1% (95% CI: 55.15%–72.38%), and the 1‐year recurrence rate was 26.7% (95% CI: 22.5%–38.1%). Treatment‐related events occurred in 96.1% but were acceptable. In a meta‐analysis of 27 studies with 1734 patients, pooled rates for pCR, MPR, ORR, DCR, and R0 resection were 29%, 52%, 71%, 97%, and 98%, respectively, with a 1‐year recurrence rate of 12%. BACKGROUND: Manganese is both an essential element and a known toxicant, and it plays important roles in many mechanisms in relation to type 2 diabetes (T2D). However, epidemiological studies of this relationship are rare. OBJECTIVE: We investigated the association between plasma manganese and newly diagnosed T2D as well as whether the association could be modified by manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD) polymorphisms. METHODS: We conducted a case -- control study of 3,228 participants in China: 1,614 T2D patients and 1,614 controls. Concentrations of plasma magnesium were measured, and all participants were genotyped for the MnSOD Vall6Ala polymorphism (rs4880). RESULTS: A U-shaped association was observed between plasma manganese and T2D, with increased odds ratios (ORs) in relation to either low or high plasma manganese levels. Compared with the middle tertile, the multivariate-adjusted ORs [95% confidence intervals (CIs)] of T2D associated with the lowest tertile and the highest tertile of plasma manganese were 1.89 (1-53, 2.33) and 1.56 (1.23, 1-97), respectively. In spline analysis, the U-shaped association was consistently indicated, with the lowest odds of T2D at the plasma manganese concentration of 4.95 ug/L. Minor allele frequencies (C allele) of the MnSOD Vall6Ala polymorphism (rs4880) in the normal glucose tolerance (NGT) and the T2D groups were 13.57% and 14.50%, respectively. The MnSOD rs4880 polymorphism was not associated with T2D, and no interaction was found between plasma manganese and the MnSOD rs4880 polymorphism in relation to T2D. CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggested a U-shaped association between plasma manganese and T2D; both low and high levels of plasma manganese were associated with higher odds of newly diagnosed T2D. BACKGROUND: Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) have been shown to protect against fine particulate matter <2.5 μm in aerodynamic diameter (PM2.5)-induced hazards. However, limited evidence is available for respiratory health, particularly in pregnant women and their offspring. OBJECTIVES: We aimed to investigate the association of prenatal exposure to PM2.5 and its chemical components with allergic rhinitis (AR) in children and explore effect modification by maternal erythrocyte PUFAs. METHODS: This prospective birth cohort study involved 657 mother–child pairs from Guangzhou, China. Prenatal exposure to residential PM2.5 mass and its components [black carbon (BC), organic matter (OM), sulfate (SO42- ), nitrate (NO3 - ), and ammonium (NH4 +)] were estimated by an established spatiotemporal model. Maternal erythrocyte PUFAs during pregnancy were measured using gas chromatography. The diagnosis of AR and report of AR symptoms in children were assessed up to 2 years of age. We used Cox regression with the quantile-based g-computation approach to assess the individual and joint effects of PM2.5 components and examine the modification effects of maternal PUFA levels. RESULTS: Approximately 5.33% and 8.07% of children had AR and related symptoms, respectively. The average concentration of prenatal PM2.5 was 35.50 ± 5.31 μg/m³. PM2.5 was positively associated with the risk of developing AR [hazard ratio (HR)= 1.85; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.16, 2.96 per 5 μg/m³] and its symptoms (HR = 1.79; 95% CI: 1.22, 2.62 per 5 μg/m³) after adjustment for confounders. Similar associations were observed between individual PM2.5 components and AR outcomes. Each quintile change in a mixture of components was associated with an adjusted HR of 3.73 (95% CI: 1.80, 7.73) and 2.69 (95% CI: 1.55, 4.67) for AR and AR symptoms, with BC accounting for the largest contribution. Higher levels of n-3 docosapentaenoic acid and lower levels of n-6 linoleic acid showed alleviating effects on AR symptoms risk associated with exposure to PM2.5 and its components. CONCLUSION: Prenatal exposure to PM2.5 and its chemical components, particularly BC, was associated with AR/symptoms in early childhood. The rapid advancement of remote sensing technology has given rise to numerous global- and regional-scale medium- to high-resolution land cover (LC) datasets, making significant contributions to the exploration of worldwide environmental shifts and the sustainable governance of natural resources. Nonetheless, owing to the inherent uncertainties embedded within remote sensing imagery, LC datasets inevitably exhibit inaccuracies. In this study, a local accuracy assessment of LC datasets in Southwest China was conducted. The datasets utilized in our analysis include ESA WorldCover, CLCD, Esri Land Cover, CRLC, FROM-GLC10, GLC_FCS30, GlobeLand30, and SinoLC-1. This study employed a sampling approach that combines proportional allocation and stratified random sampling (SRS) to gather sample points and compute confusion matrices to validate eight LC products. The local accuracy of the eight LC maps differs significantly from the overall accuracy provided by the original authors in Southwest China. ESA WorldCover and CLCD demonstrate higher local accuracy than other products in Southwest China, with their overall accuracy (OA) values being 87.1% and 85.48%, respectively. Simultaneously, we computed the area for each LC map based on categories, quantifying uncertainty through the reporting of confidence intervals for both accuracy and area parameters. This study aims to validate and compare eight LC datasets and assess precision and area of diverse spatial resolution datasets for mapping and monitoring across Southwest China. Background: Previous studies of maternal iron and birth outcomes have been limited to single indicators that do not reflect the comprehensive relationship with birth outcomes. We aimed to investigate the relationship between maternal iron metabolism and neonatal anthropometric indicators using comprehensive iron-related indicators. Methods: A total of 914 Chinese mother-child dyads were enrolled in this prospective study. Subjects' blood samples were collected at ≤ 14 weeks of gestation. Serum concentrations of iron-related indicators were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Femur length was measured by B-ultrasound nearest delivery. Neonatal anthropometric indicators were collected from medical records. Results: After adjustment for potential covariates, higher iron (per one standard deviation, SD increase) was detrimentally associated with − 0.22 mm lower femur length, whereas higher transferrin (per one SD increase) was associated with 0.20 mm higher femur length. Compared with normal subjects (10th-90th percentiles), subjects with extremely high (> 90th percentile) iron concentration were detrimentally associated with lower femur length, birth weight, and chest circumference, and a higher risk of low birth weight, LBW (HR: 3.92, 95%CI: 1.28, 12.0). Subjects with high concentration of soluble transferrin receptor, sTFR and transferrin (> 90th percentile) were associated with higher femur length. Subjects with low concentration of iron and ferritin concentrations (< 10th percentile) were associated with a higher risk of LBW (HR: 4.10, 95%CI: 1.17, 14.3) and macrosomia (HR: 2.79, 95%CI: 1.06, 7.35), respectively. Background. Nurses play a critical role in the medical workforce during the COVID-19 pandemic while facing various difficulties and challenges. Grit, social support, and self-esteem are important psychosocial factors influencing job performance. However, few studies have explored the relationships among these factors in nurses. Aim. This study aimed to examine the association between grit and nurses' job performance during the COVID-19 pandemic and to explore the potential chain mediation through perceived social support and self-esteem. Methods. A cross-sectional survey design was employed. From January 2021 to May 2022, a total of 709 Chinese nurses in Chengdu and Kunming completed a web-based cross-sectional survey, which included standard assessments on grit, perceived social support, self-esteem, and job performance as well as Big Five personalities. The chain mediation model was tested using the PROCESS macro program in the SPSS software. Results. There was a moderate-to-large correlation (r = 0.40, p < 0.001) between grit and job performance in Chinese nurses. Furthermore, grit was indirectly linked to job performance through the chain mediating effect of perceived social support and self-esteem (all p < 0.05). These findings persisted even when Big Five personalities were included as additional controlling variables. Conclusions. This study reveals a stable link between grit and job performance among Chinese nurses and highlights the potential role of perceived social support and self-esteem in mediating this link. Nursing managers can improve nurses' grit level and provide a supportive organizational environment conducive to enhancing self-esteem and thereby promoting their job performance. Objectives: Although several independent risk factors for postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs) after spinal tumor surgery have been studied, a simple and valid predictive model for PPC occurrence after spinal tumor surgery has not been developed. Patients and methods: We collected data from patients who underwent elective spine surgery for a spinal tumor between 2013 and 2020 at a tertiary hospital in China. Data on patient characteristics, comorbidities, preoperative examinations, intraoperative variables, and clinical outcomes were collected. We used univariable and multivariable logistic regression models to assess predictors of PPCs and developed and validated a nomogram for PPCs. We evaluated the performance of the nomogram using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC), calibration curves, the Brier Score, and the Hosmer–Lemeshow (H–L) goodness-of-fit test. For clinical use, decision curve analysis (DCA) was conducted to identify the model's performance as a tool for supporting decision-making. Results: Among the participants, 61 (12.4%) individuals developed PPCs. Clinically significant variables associated with PPCs after spinal tumor surgery included BMI, tumor location, blood transfusion, and the amount of blood lost. The nomogram incorporating these factors showed a concordance index (C-index) of 0.755 (95% CI: 0.688–0.822). On internal validation, bootstrapping with 1000 resamples yielded a bias-corrected area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.733, indicating the satisfactory performance of the nomogram in predicting PPCs. The calibration curve demonstrated accurate predictions of observed values. The decision curve analysis (DCA) indicated a positive net benefit for the nomogram across most predicted threshold probabilities. Purpose. Hypertension (HTN) is one of the most common adverse drug reactions to tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) targeting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), but little is known about its clinical risk factors. The aim of this study was to elucidate the association between baseline clinical characteristics and the occurrence of HTN in advanced gastric cancer (GC) patients prescribed apatinib, a commonly used VEGF-TKI in China, in a real-world setting. Patients and Methods. Fifty-five GC patients treated with apatinib from December 1st, 2016, to December 1st, 2020, were retrospectively included in electronic medical records. Adverse drug reactions were defined according to the National Cancer Institute's Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) v5.0. Univariate and multivariable logistic regression analyses were used to investigate potential clinical risk factors for apatinib-related HTN. Results. The incidence of apatinib-related HTN of all grades was 45.45%, and grade 3 HTN occurred in 16.36% of patients. The median maximal systolic blood pressure (SBP) during apatinib treatment was 153 mm·Hg, and the median time to event was 25 days. New-onset HTN occurred in 10/33 (30.30%) patients. Preexisting HTN (odds ratio [OR]: 4.155; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.252, 13.787; p = 0.020) was the key independent risk factor associated with apatinib-related HTN. Conclusion. The incidence of HTN was high in patients treated with apatinib, and preexisting HTN was an independent risk factor. It is important to provide thorough and close monitoring of patients during treatment with apatinib, especially for those with preexisting HTN. This trial is registered with ChiCTR1900024531. Background: With the continuing impact of the aging population, medical-elderly care integrated institutions, as a way to bear the pressure of medical and elderly care, effectively ensure the quality of life of the elderly in their later years. Objectives: To explore the preferences of medical-elderly care integrated institutions among Chinese middle-aged and older people and to provide a reference for establishing elderly-oriented development of medical-elderly care integrated institutions. Methods: In this study, a discrete choice experiment (DCE) was used to investigate the preferences of people aged 45 years and older in medical-elderly care integrated institutions in China from October 20, 2022, to November 10, 2022. A mixed logit regression model was used to analyze the DCE data. Participants' willingness to pay for each attribute was also calculated. Results: Data from 420 participants who provided valid responses were included in the analysis. In terms of the choice preference, moderate service quality (vs. poor service quality: β = 1.707, p < 0.001, 95% CI 1.343 ~ 2.071) and high medical technology level (vs. low medical technology level: β = 1.535, p < 0.001, 95% CI 1.240 ~ 1.830) were the most important attributes to middle-aged and older people, followed by monthly cost, environmental facilities, the convenience of transportation, and entertainment activities. Regarding the willingness to pay, participants were more willing to pay for service quality and medical technology level than for other attributes. They were willing to pay $3156 and $2838 more for "poor service quality" and "low medical technology level," respectively, to receive "moderate service quality " (p = 0.007, 95% CI 963 ~ 5349) and "high medical technology level" (p = 0.005, 95% CI 852 ~ 4824). Conclusions: The state should attach great importance to the development of medical-elderly care integrated services industry, actively optimize the model of the medical-elderly care integrated service, improve the facilities, and create a healthy environment. At the same time, give full play to the role of medical insurance, long-term care insurance, and commercial insurance, so as to improve the comprehensive quality of life of the elderly. The objective of this study is to investigate the impact of exercise habits on enhancing the sleep quality of older adults. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Scale and other questionnaires were utilized to assess the sleep quality of older adults aged 60 years and above in the H district. The sampling method employed was stratified random sampling. To analyze the influencing factors of sleep quality, the average treatment effect was estimated, the robustness of the results was assessed and statistical methods such as Logit regression and propensity score matching were employed. The study revealed that exercise habits strongly correlated with improved sleep quality in the older adult (p < 0.05), with the average total sleep quality score being 6.22 (±3.53). It was observed that older adults who engaged in exercise habits experienced a significant 12.66% increase in the likelihood of achieving good sleep. This investigation highlights the positive association between exercise habits and enhanced sleep quality among older adults. Additionally, age, physical pain and self-rated health statuses were identified as significant factors influencing sleep quality in this population. Background: Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection is likely to co-occur in pediatric respiratory tract infections (RTIs). Liver injury is the common complication of EBV infection. The detailed risk factors for liver injury in EBV infection remain elusive. We aimed to investigate the incidence, characteristics and potential risk factors for liver injury in EBV infection for early risk prediction. Methods: We retrospectively recruited the pediatric RTIs cases with EBV infection according to a predefined criteria from our hospital between January 2015 and December 2017. We extracted the clinical and laboratory data from the electronical medical records. The impact of age, gender, and various parameters on the liver injury risk was investigated. Univariate logistic regression analysis was performed to analyse the association between clinical/laboratory parameters and liver injury. The related indexes were enrolled in the multivariate logistic regression analysis. Decision curve analysis was used to yield the value of related parameters in predicting liver injury. Receiver operating curve (ROC) analysis was applied to produce the C-index of white blood cell (WBC) count for liver injury. We also tested the non-linear association between WBC count and alanine aminotransferase (ALT). Results: A total of 216 pediatric RTIs with EBV infection were enrolled. EBV infection is more likely to occur during the winter season. Cytomegalovirus infection was independently associated with liver injury in EBV infection (OR = 6.972, 95% CI = 1.648–29.490, p = 0.008). WBC count was independently associated with liver injury in EBV infection (OR = 1.169, 95% CI = 1.051–1.301, p = 0.004). The P interaction value between WBC count and cytomegalovirus was 0.149. The decision curve analysis showed that WBC count had larger area under curve compared with platelet (PLT) and birthweight (BW). ROC analysis yielded the c-index of WBC count: 0.75 and cut-point of 8.3. The turning point of WBC count in its association with ALT was 16.8. The p value before and after the turning point was < 0.001 and 0.123, respectively. Conclusions: Cytomegalovirus co-infection demonstrated 5.972 more times of liver injury risk in EBV infection. WBC count was an independent biomarker for liver injury before the turning point of 16.8 in EBV infection. More attention should be paid to the risk of EBV infection in the winter. Cytomegalovirus infection and WBC count merit attention in the monitoring of possible liver injury in EBV infection among pediatric RTIs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BACKGROUND: Widespread insecticide exposure might be a risk factor for neurodevelopment of our children, but few studies examined the mixture effect of maternal coexposure to organophosphate insecticides (OPPs), pyrethroids (PYRs), and neonicotinoid insecticides (NNIs) during pregnancy on child neurodevelopment, and critical windows of exposure are unknown. OBJECTIVES: We aimed to evaluate the association of prenatal exposure to multiple insecticides with children’s neurodevelopment and to identify critical windows of the exposure. METHODS: Pregnant women were recruited into a prospective birth cohort study in Wuhan, China, from 2014–2017. Eight metabolites of OPPs (mOPPs), three metabolites of PYRs (mPYRs), and nine metabolites of NNIs (mNNIs) were measured in 3,123 urine samples collected at their first, second, and third trimesters. Children’s neurodevelopment [mental development index (MDI) and psychomotor development index (PDI)] was assessed using the Bayley Scales of Infant Development at 2 years of age (푁 = 1,041). Multivariate linear regression models, generalized estimating equation models, and weighted quantile sum (WQS) regression were used to estimate the association between the insecticide metabolites and Bayley scores. Potential sex-specific associations were also examined. RESULTS: Single chemical analysis suggested higher urinary concentrations of some insecticide metabolites at the first trimester were significantly associated with lower MDI and PDI scores, and the associations were more prominent among boys. Each 1-unit increase in ln-transformed urinary concentrations of two mOPPs, 3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridinol and 4-nitrophenol, was associated with a decrease of 3.16 points [95% confidence interval (CI): -5:59, -0:74] and 3.06 points (95% CI: -5.45, -0.68) respectively in boys’ MDI scores. Each 1-unit increase in that of trans-3-(2,2-dichloroethenyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylic acid (trans-DCCA; an mPYR) was significantly associated with a decrease of 2.24 points (95% CI: -3.89, -0.58) in boys’ MDI scores and 1.90 points (95% CI: -3.16, -0.64) in boys’ PDI scores, respectively. Significantly positive associations of maternal urinary biomarker concentrations [e.g., dimethyl phosphate (a nonspecific mOPP) and desmethyl-clothianidin (a relatively specific mNNI)] with child neurodevelopment were also observed. Using repeated holdout validation, a 1-quartile increase in the WQS index of the insecticide mixture (in the negative direction) at the first trimester was significantly associated with a decrease of 3.02 points (95% CI: -5.47, -0.57) in MDI scores among the boys, and trans-DCCA contributed the most to the association (18%). CONCLUSIONS: Prenatal exposure to higher levels of certain insecticides and their mixture were associated with lower Bayley scores in children, particularly in boys. Limited studies have examined the associations between diet quality and gestational weight gain (GWG) among Chinese pregnant women, adopting Chinese GWG guidelines. We prospectively investigate the associations of diet quality, using the Chinese Healthy Diet Index for Pregnancy (CHDI‐P), which assessed diet quality from 'Diversity', 'Adequacy' and 'Limitation' dimensions with overall 100 points, with GWG among participants enroled in Southwest China. Food consumption was collected by 24 h dietary recalls for three consecutive days and CHDI‐P scores were divided into tertiles. GWG was calculated according to the weight measured before delivery and classified into adequate weight gain (AWG), insufficient weight gain (IWG) and excessive weight gain(EWG) following Chinese GWG guidelines. Multinomial regression analyses and stratified analyses by pre‐pregnancy body mass index were performed to estimate the association between CHDI‐P and GWG. A total of 1416 participants were recruited in early pregnancy, and 971 and 997 participants were respectively followed up in middle and late pregnancy. The mean CHDI‐P score was 56.44 ± 6.74, 57.07 ± 7.44 and 57.38 ± 7.94 points in early, middle and late pregnancy, respectively. Women in the lowest CHDI‐P scores group had an increased risk of EWG in middle (OR = 1.53, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.08–2.17) and late pregnancy (OR = 1.71, 95% CI = 1.21–2.41) than women in the highest group, while overweight/obese women had a greater risk of EWG in late pregnancy (OR = 4.25, 95% CI = 1.30–13.90). No association was found between the CHDI‐P scores and IWG. Poor diet quality in middle and late pregnancy was associated with a higher risk of EWG. Key messages: Excessive gestational weight gain (EWG) is a more obvious problem than insufficient gestational weight gain (IWG) among Chinese pregnant women when evaluated by Chinese gestational weight gain (GWG) guidelines.Maternal diet is a key determinant of GWG, and inadequate intake of healthy food, such as whole grains and dark‐coloured vegetables, is a risk factor for EWG.Higher‐quality diet in middle and late pregnancy could reduce the risk of EWG, while its effect on IWG was not found.Overweight pregnant women defined as overweight/obese by pre‐pregnancy body mass index had a significantly increased risk of EWG when adhering to an unhealthy diet in late pregnancy. This study aimed to describe diet quality of pregnant women and explore the association between maternal diet and the prevalence of low birth weight (LBW) and small for gestational age (SGA). A total of 3856 participants from a birth cohort in Beijing, China, were recruited between June 2018 and February 2019. Maternal diet in the first and second trimesters was assessed by the Chinese diet balance index for pregnancy (DBI-P), using data collected by the inconsecutive 2-d 24-h dietary recalls. Logistic regressions were performed to explore the independent effects of DBI-P components on LBW and SGA. The prevalence of LBW and SGA was 3·8% and 6·0%, respectively. Dietary intakes of the participants were imbalanced. The proportions of participants having insufficient intake of vegetables (87·3% and 86·6%), dairy product (95·9% and 96·7%) and aquatic foods (80·5% and 85·3%) were high in both trimesters. The insufficiency of fruit intake was more severe in the second (85·2%) than that in the first trimester (22·5%) (P < 0·05). After adjusting for potential confounders, the intake of fruits and dairy in the second trimester was negatively associated with the risk of LBW (OR = 0·850, 95% CI: 0·723, 0·999) and SGA (OR = 0·885, 95% CI: 0·787, 0.996), respectively. Background. In this meta-analysis, we aimed to systematically compare the efficacy and safety of phacoemulsification and laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI) in the treatment of primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG). Method. We searched PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, the Chinese Journal Full-text Database (CNKI), the Wanfang database, and the China Science and Technology Journal Database for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of phacoemulsification and LPI in the treatment of PACG published up to September 30, 2022. Postoperative intraocular pressure (IOP), anterior chamber depth (ACD), complications, corneal endothelial cell count, and best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) were compared. The effective quantity of measurement data was measured by the mean difference (MD) and 95% confidence interval (CI). The effect of counting data was measured by the odds ratio (OR). Result. A total of 1731 potential studies were identified, and after screening, 8 RCT studies were included. The results of the meta-analysis showed that, compared to the LPI group, the patients in the phacoemulsification group showed lower IOP six and twelve months after operation (MD-3.39, 95% CI −4.15∼−2.63, P < 0.00001 ; −2.29, −3.52∼−1.06, 0.0003). The ACD in the phacoemulsification group was significantly deeper than that in the LPI group (1.59, 1.10∼2.09, 0.00001). Meanwhile, the incidence of complications in the phacoemulsification group was lower than that in the LPI group (OR = 0.46, 0.29∼0.72, 0.0006). There was no statistically significant difference between the phacoemulsification group and the LPI group in corneal endothelial cell count and BCVA at 6 and 12 months after operation (P = 0.38 ; 0.11; 0.81). Conclusion. Compared with LPI, phacoemulsification is safer and more effective in the treatment of PACG, especially in controlling IOP and minimizing postoperative complications. Background: Previous studies have not clearly demonstrated the impact of behavioral and emotional problems (BEDs) on treatment outcomes among HIV-infected children on antiretroviral therapy (ART). This study aimed to describe the prevalence of BEDs among this population and identify the factors associated with HIV treatment outcomes. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in Guangxi, China, between July and August 2021. HIV-infected children answered questionnaires about BEDs, physical health, social support, and whether they have missed doses in the past month. BEDs were assessed using the Chinese version of the self-reported Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ-C). The self-reported survey data were linked to participants' HIV care information that was obtained from the national surveillance database. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression models were used to identify factors that were associated with missed doses in the past month and virological failure. Results: The study sample was 325 HIV-infected children. HIV-infected children had a higher proportion of abnormal scores on SDQ-C total difficulties compared to their peers in the general population (16.9 vs 10.0%; P = 0.002). An abnormal SDQ-C total difficulties score (AOR = 2.06, 95%CI: 1.10–3.88) and infrequency of receiving assistance and support from parents over the past 3 months (AOR = 1.85, 95%CI: 1.12–3.06) were significantly associated with missed doses in the past month. Between the ages of 14–17 years (AOR = 2.66, 95% CI: 1.37–5.16), female (AOR = 2.21, 95% CI: 1.20–4.08), and suboptimal adherence (AOR = 2.45, 95% CI: 1.32–4.57) were significantly associated with virological failure. Conclusions: Children's mental health plays a role in HIV treatment outcomes. Objective: The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has brought severe damage to global health and socioeconomics. In China, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is the most important complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) and it has shown a beneficial role in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19. However, it is unknown whether patients are willing to accept TCM treatment. The objective of our study is to investigate the acceptance, attitude, and independent predictors of TCM among asymptomatic COVID-19 patients admitted to Shanghai fangcang hospital during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Shanghai in 2022. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on asymptomatic COVID-19 patients in the largest fangcang hospital in Shanghai, China, from April 22, 2022, to May 25, 2022. Based on the literature review of previous similar studies, a self-report questionnaire was developed to assess the patients' attitude and acceptance of TCM, and a multivariate logistic regression analysis was conducted to determine the independent predictors of TCM acceptance. Results: A total of 1,121 patients completed the survey, of whom 91.35% were willing to accept CAM treatment whereas 8.65% of participants showed no willingness. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that the patients who have received two doses of COVID-19 vaccine (OR = 2.069, 95%CI: 1.029–4.162, P = 0.041 vs. not received), understood the culture of TCM (OR = 2.293, 95%CI: 1.029–4.162, P = 0.014 vs. not understood), thought the TCM treatment is safe (OR = 2.856, 95%CI: 1.334–6.112, P = 0.007 vs. not thought), thought the TCM treatment is effective (OR = 2.724, 95%CI: 1.249–5.940, P = 0.012 vs. not thought), and those who informed their attending physician if using TCM for treatment (OR = 3.455, 95%CI:1.867–6.392, P < 0.001 vs. not informed) were more likely to accept TCM treatment. However, patients who thought TCM might delay your treatment (OR = 0.256, 95%CI: 0.142–0.462, P < 0.001 not thought) was an independent predictor for unwillingness to accept TCM treatment. Conclusion: This study preliminarily investigated the acceptance, attitude, and predictors of intention to receive TCM among asymptomatic COVID-19 patients. It is recommended to increase the publicity of TCM, clarify the impact of TCM and communicate with attending doctors that meet the healthcare needs of asymptomatic COVID-19 patients. Purpose: Various physiological and psychological negative situations experienced by nurses as a result of COVID-19 pandemic have been shown to increase their perception of organizational difficulty and decrease their career commitment, thereby accelerating the turnover rate of nurses. Resilience and career adaptability have important influences on career commitment, so there is a need to evaluate the relationships between them and the underlying mechanisms. Patients and methods: Using a cross-lagged design, the Career Adaptability Scale, the Chinese version of career commitment, and Davidson's Resilience Scale as research methods, we studied 692 nursing students for two consecutive years to evaluate the relationship among career adaptability, resilience, and career commitment. Results: Career adaptability at T1 substantially and positively predicts the career commitment at T2. Career adaptability and resilience are mutually predictive. No interaction is found between resilience and career commitment over time. There is a substantial difference in the cross-lagged relationship among career adaptability, resilience, and career commitment for low- and high-career interest. Conclusion: Our results show the importance of developing career commitment early on. Background: The changes in demographic and family structures have weakened the traditional norms of filial piety and intergenerational relationships dramatically. This study aims to examine the dynamic association between financial support of adult children to their parents and informal care provision in China and its differences in household registration, residence arrangement and community-based care services. Methods: Data was derived from the 2008–2018 Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS), which is a longitudinal survey of a nationally representative sample of individuals aged 60 and over. Random effects model was used to assess the association between financial support and informal care provision of adult children to their parents. Results: It was found that financial support showed an upward trend while informal care provision showed a download trend from 2008 to 2018. The result indicated a significant and negative association between financial support and informal care provision of adult children to their parents (B = -0.500, 95% confidence interval (CI) = -0.761 to -0.239). And the association was significant among elderly people who were from urban areas (B = -0.628, 95% CI = -0.970 to -0.287), co-resided with adult children (B = -0.596, 95% CI = -0.939 to -0.253), and had community-based services (B = -0.659, 95% CI = -1.004 to -0.315). Conclusion: Financial support was negatively associated with informal care provision of adult children to their parents in China, and the association has differences in household registration, residence arrangement and community-based care services. Background: This study aimed to compare the feasibility of nab‐paclitaxel plus platinum‐based chemotherapy (nabTP) versus paclitaxel plus platinum‐based chemotherapy (TP) with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) as a neoadjuvant modality for locally resectable esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Methods: Between April 2019 and March 2022, we identified ESCC patients who received neoadjuvant immunotherapy with both nabTP (n = 213) and TP (n = 98) at our institution and Henan Cancer Hospital. The patients in the ICIs‐nabTP and ICIs‐TP groups were pair‐matched (1:1) for tumor location, sex, smoking, drinking, clinical T and N stage. The primary endpoint was the hazard of 30‐day major postoperative complications. Second, logistic models were applied to estimate the risk factors for pathological complete response (pCR) rate. Results: All patients underwent esophagectomy with R0 resection. A statistically significant increase in the risk of developing major pulmonary (odds ratio [OR], 1.182; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.530–2.635; p = 0.683), anastomotic (OR, 1.881; 95% CI: 0.607–5.830; p = 0.267), cardiac (OR, 1.000; 95% CI: 0.426–2.349; p = 1.000) complications after neoadjuvant immunotherapy plus nabTP was not observed. The median interval to surgery was 39 days in the ICIs‐nabTP group versus 44 days in the ICIs‐TP group (p = 0.119). There was no 30‐day mortality in each group. However, there was a slight difference in the 30‐day readmission rate (p = 0.043) and the incidence of hydropneumothorax (p = 0.027) between the two groups. The pCR rates of the ICIs‐nabTP and ICIs‐TP group were 36.7 and 21.4%, respectively (p = 0.018). Conclusions: It appears to be feasible to add immunotherapy to nabTP regimen for locally advanced ESCC. Compared with TP, nabTP plus ICIs can achieve a better pCR rate in ESCC. Aim: The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of perceived social support (PSS) on sleep quality in arteriosclerotic obliterans patients in China and examined whether psychological flexibility (PF) has a mediating effect between PSS and sleep quality. Design: A cross‐sectional survey. Methods: A cross‐sectional study was conducted between September 2020 and December 2021 on 172 patients with atherosclerotic obliterans recruited from a hospital in China. Results: PSS was negatively associated with sleep quality and PF, whereas PF was positively associated with sleep quality. This relationship between PSS and sleep quality was mediated by PF. Background: High turnover intention of nursing assistants was detrimental to the sustainability of long-term care. Career adaptability is an important determinant in reducing turnover intention, but little research has explored the mechanism from the perspective of psychological capital. The aim of this study was to analyze the association between career adaptability and turnover intention and to examine the mediating role of psychological capital between career adaptability and turnover intention among nursing assistants in mainland China. Methods: A cross-sectional online study was conducted among 276 nursing assistants from eight nursing homes in Nanjing, China. The participants' career adaptability, psychological capital, and turnover intention were obtained. SPSS 26.0 and Amos 24.0 software were employed for statistical analysis. Results: Career adaptability was positively related to psychological capital and negatively linked to turnover intention (P < 0.01). Psychological capital played a fully mediating role (β = -0.085, P < 0.05) in the relationship between career adaptability and turnover intention, and the largest indirect effect was generated through the curiosity dimension. Conclusions: The management of long-term care facilities should focus on assessing the level of career adaptability of nursing assistants. The overall improvement of career adaptability and psychological capital is conducive in reducing turnover intention. Targeted interventions are recommended to improve career adaptability and reduce turnover intentions by increasing career curiosity. Background Factors influencing visual disability among the elderly in China remain largely unclear. We sought to determine the prevalence and identify risk factors for visual disability among older adults in China. Methods We employed a nested case-control study design, utilising data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) collected between 2011 and 2018. Cases and controls were matched by a ratio of 1:3 by age and sex. Conditional logistic regression identified factors associated with visual disability. Results Prior to data matching, the cohort comprised 4729 complete samples, with 785 (16.6%) newly diagnosed cases of visual disability during the follow-up period. Following matching, 3132 subjects remained, with 783 in the case group and 2349 in the control group. Factors associated with the occurrence of visual disability in the elderly included per capita family income (odds ratio (OR)=0.98; 95% confidence interval (CI)=0.97-0.99), adequate sleep (OR=0.75; 95% CI=0.63-0.90), cognitive function (OR=0.98; 95% CI=0.96-0.99), heart disease (OR=1.51; 95% CI=1.20-1.89), kidney disease (OR=1.45; 95% CI=1.05-1.98), depression (OR=1.04; 95% CI=1.03-1.06), history of falls (OR=1.34; 95% CI=1.09-1.65), and cataracts (OR=2.71; 95% CI=1.81-4.07). Conclusions Visual disability among the elderly in China remains a major concern. Per capita family income, adequate sleep, and cognitive function are protective factors, while heart disease, kidney disease, depression, history of falls, and cataracts are risk factors. Background China has a high burden of nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) infections. Immunocompromised populations, such as those with human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS), are at a higher risk of being infected with NTM than immunocompetent individuals. Yet, there is a paucity of information on the clinical features of positive NTM isolates from patients with HIV/AIDS in China. To address this gap, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of existing studies, comparing them against current expert consensus to provide guidance for clinical practice. Methods Two researchers independently searched eight databases (SinoMed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, VIP, Cochrane Library, PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science) from inception to 26 December 2022 to retrieve published Chinese- and English-language studies reporting clinical features of NTM-positive isolates among patients with HIV/AIDS in China. Results We included 28 studies with 1861 patients. The rate of positive NTM isolates detected from men among all patients was 87.3%. NTM species distribution was mainly Mycobacterium avium complex (64.3%), which was predominant in different regions. The five most common clinical symptoms were fever (68.5%), cough or expectoration (67.0%), appetite loss (49.4%), weight loss (45.5%), and superficial lymphadenectasis (41.1%). The prevalence of laboratory tests were as follows: albumin <35 g/L (55.6%), erythrocyte sedimentation rate >20 mm/h (91.4%), anaemia (59.0%), predominantly mild, CD4+ T cell count ≥50 pieces/µL (70.3%), and CD4+ T cell count 51-200 pieces/µL (22.1%). Lesion manifestations in thoracic imaging mainly included bilateral lung involvement (83.8%), showed stripe shadows (60.3%), patchy shadows (42.9%), nodules (40.6%), and bronchiectasis (38.6%). Accompanied signs included thoracic lymph node enlargement (49.5%). Seventy per cent of symptoms improved after treatment. Conclusions Focusing on clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and thoracic imaging helps with initial screening for NTM infections. Physicians should raise awareness of the diagnosis and treatment of Mycobacterium avium complex, providing guidance for experimental treatment, screening of priority populations for NTM infections, and prophylactic treatment of NTM disease. Background The Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT) from the US and the Strategy of Blood Pressure Intervention in the Elderly Hypertensive Patients (STEP) trial from China have consistently demonstrated clinical benefits from intensive blood pressure (BP) treatment among elderly adults with hypertension. However, we have little data on the generalisability and potential implications of a scale-up of intensive BP treatment to all eligible elderly in the US and China. Methods We used two nationally representative data sets from China (Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHALRS), 2011-2012) and the US (National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), 2007-2012) and linked them with CHARLS follow-up data (2013) and the National Death Index (1999-2015), respectively. We estimated the percentage, number, and characteristics of elderly (≥60 years old) meeting the STEP and SPRINT eligibility criteria, and deaths that would be prevented or postponed with the implementation of intensive BP treatment. Results Among the Chinese adults aged 60 years and over, 38.89% (95% confidence interval (CI) = 36.97-40.84) or 85.39 (95% CI = 81.14-89.64) million subjects met the STEP criteria, and 40.90 million (47.90%) adults were not taking antihypertensive medications. In the US, 23.77% (95% CI = 22.32%-25.28) or 12.46 (95% CI = 11.68-13.24) million elderly were eligible for the SPRINT, and 5.78 million (46.36%) were untreated. Overall, 0.07 (95% CI = 0.06-0.08) million deaths in the US and 0.31 (95% CI = 0.25-0.39) in China would be averted annually if intensive BP treatment was implemented, while 120 000 and 680 000 of hypotension cases would be identified yearly in the US and China, respectively. Conclusions A substantial percentage of Chinese and the US elderly meet the eligibility criteria for STEP and SPRINT. Background The coverage of Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) vaccination remains suboptimal in China, and this study aimed to investigate the influencing factors of caregivers' Hib-containing vaccine choices and the association between combination vaccine use and adherence to Hib immunisation schedule among Chinese children. Methods From August to October 2019, a cross-sectional survey was conducted in 148 community health care centres from ten provinces in China, which collected vaccination records from 5294 children aged 6-59 months. The children were categorised into three groups based on their Hib-containing vaccine receipt: unvaccinated group, monovalent vaccine group, and combination vaccine group. The outcome measures included: (1) receipt and choice of Hib-containing vaccines, and (2) completion of the three-dose schedule. Multinomial logistic regression was used to evaluate the influencing factors of Hib-containing vaccine receipt and choice, and logistic regression was adopted to investigate the associations between vaccine choice and schedule completion. Results Of the 5294 children, 19.53% received monovalent vaccines only, 22.59% received at least one dose of combination vaccines, and 57.88% were not vaccinated against Hib. The overall three-dose completion rate was 27.03%. The multinomial logistic (mlogit) regression findings indicated strong associations of socioeconomic status and Hib-containing vaccine supply with vaccination status. Multiple logistic regression among those who received at least one Hib-containing dose demonstrated a 3-fold increase in the likelihood of three-dose schedule completion by children who received any combination dose compared with those received single-antigen vaccines only (adjusted odds ratio (aOR) = 3.97 (95% CI = 3.14-5.03)). Conclusions Findings from the current study provide a more comprehensive understanding of the strong relationship between combination vaccine receipt and completion outcomes. Facing the suboptimal Hib vaccination rate in China, the use of combination vaccines could help increase vaccination compliance, and appropriate government actions to reduce outof-pocket burden of immunisation are encouraged to address inequities in vaccine choices. Objective: To evaluate the impact of the integrated care in Luohu, China on the hypertension management. Methods: Hypertensive patients aged 35-74 years were recruited by the clusterrandomized sampling method from Luohu district which adopted integrated care and another district that remained original routine care during October 2018-January 2020, with 1353 and 583 patients from integrated and routine care communities, respectively. Health information, knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) towards cardiovascular diseases, pharmaceutical expenditure on hypertension and its comorbidities, and healthcare-related satisfaction were collected by questionnaires, with the expenditure additionally verified by hospitals billing records database. Continuous and categorical variables were compared by Wilcoxon test and Chi-square test, respectively. The agestandardized hypertension control rate was calculated by direct standardization. Results: The standardized hypertension management rate in the integrated care communities (45.75%) was significantly higher than that in routine care communities (14.07%) (P < 0.0001), while the age-standardized hypertension control rates were similar (integrated care: 50.3%, routine care: 52.65%, P = 0.518). The pharmaceutical expenditure on hypertension and its comorbidities in the integrated care communities was 264.23 ± 357.38/month/person, lower than that in the routine care communities (354.56 ± 430.59/month/person). Patients in the integrated care had higher KAP scores (73.48 ± 11.54), compared with routine care (68.89 ± 15.51) (P < 0.0001). Moreover, the integrated care communities had higher satisfaction rates towards the convenience of dual referral (90.15% vs. 77.99%) and service quality (95.18% vs. 87.81%) than routine care communities (P < 0.0001). Conclusion: The practice of the integrated care in Luohu has substantially improved the hypertension management and the healthcare-related satisfaction while with relatively low pharmaceutical expenditure. Objective. This study explored the characteristics and associated factors of commercial sex behavior among male college students who engaged in temporary heterosexual behaviors in Zhejiang Province, China. Methods. The participants were male college students with temporary heterosexual behaviors. We developed an online questionnaire to collect information on demographic characteristics, sexual attitudes, sexual behaviors, and HIV/AIDS interventions through stratified cluster sampling. Chi-square ( χ 2 ) tests were performed for the different groups of participants. The occurrence of commercial sex behavior among participants was taken as the dependent variable, and logistic regression was used to analyze the factors associated with the participants' commercial sex behavior. Results. This study investigated the temporary heterosexual behavior of 424 male college students. Among them were 112 students who reported commercial sex behavior (26.42%), whose average age was 20.25 ± 1.27 years, and whose household registration of Zhejiang Province accounted for 63.39%. The results of the multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that acceptance of commercial sex behavior (Adjusted (a) OR = 3.53 , 95% CI = 1.94 ~6.40) and feeling at risk of contracting HIV (aOR = 6.44 , 95% CI = 2.98 ~13.94), seeking temporary sexual partners through the Internet (aOR = 2.58 , 95% CI = 1.27 ~5.25), consistently using condoms during sex (aOR = 0.34 , 95% CI = 0.16 ~0.70), or using condoms sometimes/frequently during sex (aOR = 0.30 , 95% CI = 0.13 ~0.68) were independent factors associated with male college students with temporary heterosexual behavior engaging in commercial sex behavior. Conclusion. Open sexual attitudes, seeking temporary sexual partners through the Internet, high awareness of HIV infection risk, and low condom use are associated factors for male college students engaging in commercial sex behavior. For college students' HIV/AIDS prevention and education interventions, it is necessary to strengthen the prevention of network influence, increase peer education, increase teacher participation in education, enhance college students' risk awareness, advocate for the use of condoms, and promote HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment. Simple Summary: Simple and effective risk stratification tools which allow prediction of the risk of malignant esophageal lesions are needed for the practice of opportunistic screening. The aim of the current study was to develop an improved version of the diagnostic model based on a large-scale outpatient cohort and assess the robustness and generalizability of the model through external validations. The improved diagnostic model had seven predictors and generated an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.860 in the development set. Validation of the model in two external populations also showed high discrimination power and was able to increase the detection rate of malignant esophageal lesions. This questionnaire-based diagnostic model provides an easy-to-use tool to identify high-risk individuals and will be useful for the promotion of the opportunistic screening of esophageal cancer. We aimed to develop an improved version of the diagnostic model predicting the risk of malignant esophageal lesions in opportunistic screening and validate it in external populations. The development set involved 10,595 outpatients receiving endoscopy from a hospital in Hua County, a high-risk region for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in northern China. Validation set A enrolled 9453 outpatients receiving endoscopy in a non-high-risk region in southern China. Validation set B involved 17,511 residents in Hua County. The improved diagnostic model consisted of seven predictors including age, gender, family history of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, smoking, body mass index, dysphagia, and retrosternal pain, with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of 0.860 (95% confidence interval: 0.835–0.886) in the development set. Ideal discrimination ability was achieved in external validations (AUC validation set A: 0.892, 95% confidence interval: 0.858–0.926; AUC validation set B: 0.799, 95% confidence interval: 0.705–0.894). This improved model also markedly increased the detection rate of malignant esophageal lesions compared with universal screening, demonstrating great potential for use in opportunistic screening of malignant esophageal lesions in heterogeneous populations. Objectives: There is little evidence on the association between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and disability trajectories among middle-aged and older adults. This study aimed to investigate the association between ACEs and activities of daily living (ADL) trajectories over eight years of follow-up and the mediation role of different chronic diseases on this relationship. Design: Prospective cohort study, eight-year follow-up. Setting: China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study(CHARLS). Participants: A total of 10651 participants age 45 and over from CHARLS 2011 to 2018 were included in this study. Measurements: Five ACEs exposure groups were formed based on the cumulative ACE scores. A 6-item ADL score was used, including bathing, dressing, eating, getting in/out of bed, using the toilet, and controlling urination, to measure the ADL disability, and the group-based trajectory model (GBTM) was used to identify the ADL disability trajectories. Multinomial logistic regression was performed to investigate the association between ACEs and ADL disability trajectory memberships, and KHB-method was used to estimate the contribution of different chronic diseases on this relationship. Results: Of the 10651 participants, 9.64% showed a mild-increasing trajectory in terms of change in ADL score during follow-up, followed by the low-mild trajectory (32.00%) and low-low trajectory (58.36%). Compared with those without ACEs exposure, participants who had ≥4 ACEs were associated with an increased risk of being on low-mild trajectory (OR 1.32, 95%CI:1.11–1.57) and mild-increasing trajectory (OR 1.41, 95%CI: 1.06–1.89), respectively. Besides, mediation analysis revealed chronic diseases had a mediation effect in this association, with the largest effect from arthritis or rheumatism (over 60%), followed by digestive system disease (around 14%), respiratory disease (around 12%), and cardio-metabolic disease (around 5%). Conclusion: This study suggested that exposure to ACEs was associated with a higher risk of being worse ADL disability trajectories. Moreover, chronic disease accounts for a meaningful proportion of this association. Background. Visceral adiposity plays a key role in the development of insulin resistance (IR), so surrogate index that can indicate visceral obesity may have higher predictive value for IR. This study aimed to establish and validate a new predictive model including indicator of visceral obesity for IR. Methods. The study population consisted of two cohorts. The derivation cohort was a group of 667 patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes and the population undergoing a routine health checkup was the validation cohort. The predictive model was established by the logistic regression analysis. Its value for predicting IR was compared with other surrogate indices by the receiver operating characteristic curve. Results. The odds ratio (OR) of age, visceral fat area (VFA), triglyceride (TG), fasting plasma glucose (FPG), and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) for IR was 1.028 (95% CI, 1.008–1.048) (P < 0.01), 1.016 (95% CI, 1.009–1.023) (P < 0.001), 1.184 (95% CI, 1.005–1.396) (P < 0.05), 1.334 (95% CI, 1.225–1.451) (P < 0.001), and 1.021 (95% CI, 1.001–1.040) (P < 0.05). The formula of the predictive model was (0.0293 × age + 1.4892 × Ln VFA + 0.4966 × Ln TG + 2.784 × Ln FPG + 0.6906 × Ln ALT)/2. The area under the curve was the largest among all the previously reported predictors. Conclusions. This study established and validated a predicting model for IR and confirmed its predictive value in comparison with other surrogate indicators, which will offer a simple and effective tool to measure IR in future large population studies. BACKGROUND While studies have suggested the association between triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, a reliable surrogate for insulin resistance and hypertension data are limited to the correlation of TyG and central blood pressure. This study aims to test the hypothesis that a higher TyG index is associated with elevated central systolic blood pressure (cSBP). METHODS A total of 9249 Chinese hypertensive adults from the H-type Hypertension and Stroke Prevention and Control Project were analyzed in this study. cSBP was measured noninvasively using an A-Pulse CASPro device. TyG index was calculated as ln [fasting triglycerides (mg/dL) × fasting glucose (mg/dL)/2]. Smoothing curve and multivariate linear regression models [beta coefficient (ß) with 95% CI] were applied to analyze the association between TyG index and cSBP. Subgroup analyses were conducted to explore potential modifications to such a correlation. RESULTS The overall mean TyG index is 8.8 ± 0.7, and the total mean cSBP is 131.3 ± 12.8 mmHg. TyG index was observed to be independently and positively associated with cSBP among the total population (ß = 0.92, 95% CI: 0.53-1.31, P < 0.001), and participants who do not use antihypertensive drugs (ß = 1.03, 95% CI: 0.46-1.60, P < 0.001), which is in accordance with the result of the smoothing curve. The association between TyG index and cSBP appears robust in all tested subgroups. CONCLUSIONS TyG index is positively and independently associated with cSBP among hypertensive adults. Background. There are few reports on the relationship between dietary patterns and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). This study aimed to explore relationships between dietary patterns and CVD risk in the T2D population using multiple statistical analysis methods. Methods. A total of 2,984 patients with T2D from the Xinjiang Multi-Ethnic Cohort, 555 of whom were suffering from CVD, were enrolled in this study. Participants' dietary intake was measured by the semiquantitative food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). Three statistical methods were used to construct dietary patterns, including principal component analysis (PCA) method, reduced-rank regressions (RRR) method, and partial least-squares regression (PLS) method. Then, the association between dietary patterns and CVD risk in T2D patients was analyzed by logistic regression. After excluding participants with CVD, the associations between dietary patterns and 10-year CVD risk scores were subsequently evaluated to reduce reverse causality. Results. In this study, four dietary patterns were identified by three methods. Adjustment for confounding factors, subjects with the highest scores on the "high-protein and high-carbohydrate" patterns derived from PCA, RRR, and PLS had higher odds of CVD than those with the lowest scores (OR: 2.89, 95% CI: 2.11–3.96, P t r e n d < 0.001 ; OR: 2.96, 95% CI: 2.17–4.03, P t r e n d < 0.001 ; OR: 2.01, 95% CI: 1.50–2.70, P t r e n d < 0.001 , respectively). However, the dietary pattern of PCA-prudent was not significantly related to the odds of having CVD in T2D patients (adjusted ORQ4vsQ1: 0.93, 95% CI: 0.70–1.24, P t r e n d = 0.474). Interestingly, we also found significant associations between "high-protein and high-carbohydrate" patterns and the elevated predicted 10-year CVD risk in T2D patients (all P t r e n d < 0.05). Conclusion. The positive correlation between "high-protein and high-carbohydrate" patterns and CVD risk in T2D patients was robust across all three data-driven approaches. These findings may have public health significance, encouraging an emphasis on food choices in the usual diet and promoting nutritional interventions for patients with T2D to prevent CVD. Background: The acupoint selections impact the effects of acupuncture, and preliminary evidence showed potential connection between pain threshold (PT) and acupuncture response. This study examined whether acupuncture at acupoints with lower PT versus higher PT would yield different effects in patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA). Methods: In this multicenter randomized clinical trial, patients were randomly assigned (1:1:1) to receive acupuncture at acupoints with lower PT (LPT group), acupuncture at acupoints with higher PT (HPT group), and no acupuncture (waiting-list group). PT was measured with electronic von Frey detector. The primary outcome was the change in WOMAC total score from baseline to 16 weeks, and the secondary outcomes were SF-12 score, and active knee range of motion (ROM). Intention-to-treat analysis was conducted with linear mixed-effect model. Results: Among 666 randomized patients, 625 (93.84%) completed the study. From baseline to 16 weeks, patients in the LPT group versus HPT group had similar effects in reducing WOMAC total score (adjusted mean difference (MD) 2.21, 95% confidence interval (CI) −2.51 to 6.92, P = 0.36), while a greater reduction in WOMAC total score was observed in LPT group (−9.77, 95% CI −14.47 to −5.07, P < 0.001) and HPT group (−11.97, 95% CI −16.71 to −7.24, P < 0.001) compared with waiting-list group. There were no differences in SF-12 score and knee ROM between LPT versus HPT groups. Conclusion: Our findings found that the effects of acupuncture at acupoints with lower versus higher PT were similar, both were effective for patients with KOA. Background: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are among the most widely prescribed drugs worldwide. However, the effect of NSAIDS on postoperative renal function is still unclear. Few studies have assessed the effects of parecoxib on renal function. Our aim is to investigate a correlation between parecoxib and the presence or absence of AKI postoperatively after a breast cancer surgery operation. Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study that we performed on our hospitalized database. From January 2012 to August 2021, 3542 female patients undergoing radical mastectomy were enrolled, all data including the patients' information and laboratory results were obtained from electronic medical system. The main outcome was the incidence of AKI postoperatively. AKI was defined in accordance with the KDIGO criteria. Study groups were treated with or without parecoxib. Univariable and multivariable logistic regression analyses were performed. Results: In our study, about 5.76% experienced AKI. The incidence rate of postoperative AKI (3.49%) within 7 days in the parecoxib group was lower than that in the control group (6.00%, P = 0.05). Compared to the control group, the AKI's incidence was reduced by 49% (OR = 0.46; 95%CI 0.27–0.97) in parecoxib group in multivariable logistic regression analysis. There was a reduction in the incidence of postoperative AKI in other three subgroups: preoperative eGFR < 90 mL/min·1.73/m2 (OR = 0.52; 95%CI 0.27–0.97), blood loss < 1000 ml (OR = 0.48; 95%CI 0.24–0.96) and non-diabetes (OR = 0.51; 95%CI 0.26–0.98). Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) has been classified separately as an independent risk factor for hypertension. However, comparisons between different body size indices and left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in hypertensive populations have not been reported yet. In this study, we enrolled 4,639 hypertensive patients from rural China. Anthropometric indices and cardiovascular disease risk factor variables were measured and analyzed using Spearman's correlation, logistic regression, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analyses. Patients in the highest quartile of body size indices were more likely to have left ventricular hypertrophy than those in the lowest quartile; these indices were BMI (adjusted OR: 3.55, 95% CI: 2.90; 4.35), WC (adjusted OR: 2.23, 95% CI: 1.84; 2.70), WHR (adjusted OR: 1.44, 95% CI: 1.18; 1.75), and WHtR (adjusted OR: 3.23, 95% CI: 2.62; 3.99). The areas under the ROC curves of BMI (AUC: 0.628, 95% CI: 0.612; 0.644), WHtR (AUC: 0.628, 95% CI: 0.560; 0.593), WHR (AUC: 0.530, 95% CI: 0.513; 0.547), and WC (AUC: 0.576, 95% CI: 0.513; 0.547) were all above 0.5, which indicated that the four anthropometric indicators may be associated with LVH. Background: Co-infection with HIV is a strong risk factor for cervical cancer development. It is unknown whether women with HIV in Guangxi, China are utilizing currently available cervical cancer screening services, what barriers they face, and if they are aware of their increased risk of developing cervical cancer. Methods: Using a cross-sectional design, we administered a survey to women with HIV aged 21–65 years from August to October 2019 in Guangxi, China. A 100-item survey was designed in English and translated into Chinese. We assessed knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs about cervical cancer and cervical cancer screening, identified potential barriers and facilitators of cervical cancer screening programs for women with HIV, and assessed potential risk factors for cervical cancer. Results: A total of 101 participants completed the survey. The median age of participants was 38 years (IQR 34.5–44 years). Forty-seven percent of the women had been screened for cervical cancer at least once. The mean score was 5.6 out of 9 (95% CI 5.3–6.0) on the knowledge about cervical cancer and screening and 6.3 out of 10 (95% CI 5.9–6.6) for cervical cancer risk factors, respectively. Facilitators of participating in cervical cancer screening included trust and openness to healthcare workers having conversations about female health concerns. Barriers identified in our study included knowledge gaps in cervical cancer risk awareness and cervical cancer screening awareness, including the lack of knowledge of available cervical cancer screening services. Women with HIV in Guangxi are under-screened for cervical cancer. Conclusion: When designing tailored cervical cancer screening programs for women with HIV in Guangxi, educational programs to address existing knowledge gaps will be needed to increase screening uptake in this high-risk population. Background: Health equity remains a priority concerns by central government in China. This study aimed to explore ethnic gaps in access to health knowledge categories and sources based on the survey data from a publicly available dataset. Methods: Data were from 2015 China Migrants Dynamic Survey issued by The National Health Commission in China. Descriptive analyses were performed to reflect geodemographic differences in the floating population of ethnic minority (EMFP) and Han majority (HMFP) with Chi-square test. Ethnic gaps in access to health knowledge categories and sources were explored with Poisson regressions, logistic regressions, and bivariate ordered probit regressions. Results: In the sample, most of participants had inadequate health information literacy. There were significant differences regarding geodemographic factors between EMFP and HMFP. Illiterate EMFP had likelihood to obtain less health knowledge categories (IRR = 0.80, 95% CI 0.77–0.84) and sources (IRR = 0.83, 95% CI 0.80–0.86) as compared to illiterate HMFP. Most of correlations between health knowledge categories and sources were weak in the samples of EMFP and HMFP. Conclusion: Ethnic disparities in access to health knowledge categories and sources among the floating population in China were confirmed. Further effective efforts should be provided to reduce ethnic disparities in access to health knowledge under the ethnicity-orientated support of public health resource. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background. Treatment based on syndrome differentiation under the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) framework has been shown to be helpful in patients with coronary artery disease. We hypothesized that syndrome types could predict the risk of type 2 myocardial infarction (T2MI) caused by imbalance between myocardial oxygen supply and demand in critically ill patients with pulmonary disease. Methods. This retrospective study included consecutive critically ill patients with pulmonary disease admitted to the ICU at Jiading District Central Hospital Affiliated Shanghai University of Medicine & Health Sciences from January 1, 2017, to July 1, 2019. Diagnosis of T2MI was based on the fourth universal definition of myocardial infarction. Risk factors associated with T2MI were identified using multivariate regression analysis. Results. A total of 244 patients were included in the study: 78 who developed T2MI and the remaining 166 who did not develop T2MI during hospitalization. The incidence of phlegm syndrome and deficiency syndrome was 61.9% and 38.1%, respectively. In comparison with the patients with phlegm syndrome, the incidence of T2MI in patients with deficiency syndrome is significantly higher (40.9% vs. 26.5%, P = 0.019). In multivariate logistic regression, T2MI was independently associated with the baseline troponin level (OR 12.682, 95% CI 1.397∼115.121; P = 0.024), hemoglobin < 55 g/L (OR 12.76, 95% CI 2.359∼69.021; P = 0.003), mechanical ventilation (OR 2.244, 95% CI 1.029∼4.892; P = 0.042), and TCM deficiency syndrome (OR 2.214, 95% CI 1.032∼4.749; P = 0.041). After adjusting for confounding factors in Cox regression models, the hazard ratio (95% confidence interval) of qi deficiency syndrome groups was 1.183 (95% CI 1.053∼3.123, P = 0.032). Conclusions. Background: In the context of China's aging population, meeting consumer demand is an essential way for nursing homes to fulfill social responsibilities and improve competitive advantages. However, since little is known about the elderly's service level and price choices for nursing home care, this study aims to explore the non-disabled elderly's nursing home admission intention, service level, and price choices. Methods: A cross-sectional survey of 402 non-disabled respondents was conducted in three different income level cities of Zhejiang Province, in July and August 2018. Multinomial logistic regression and multiple linear regression were used to identify the determinants of admission intention, service level choice, and price choice. Results: Education, residence, and number of children were significantly associated with nursing home admission intention. Compared to those with no intention, the elderly with higher income and household wealth were less likely to have conditional intentions, and those living with the family were less likely to have unconditional intentions. Compared to medium-level services, the elderly with higher monthly income (relative risk ratio [RRR] 3.07, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.801 to 5.233), household wealth (RRR 5.451, 95% CI: 2.249 to 13.216), and age (RRR 1.528, 95% CI: 1.004 to 2.326) were more likely to prefer high-level services, while older adults with higher monthly income (RRR 0.516, 95% CI: 0.344 to 0.774), and those with pensions (RRR 0.267, 95% CI: 0.076 to 0.931) were less likely to prefer low-level services. The elderly's price preference increased by 398 CNY as monthly income increased by 1 000 CNY, and by 270 CNY as the housing number increased by one. Having pensions increased price preference (468 CNY), whereas having health insurance decreased price preference (-690 CNY). Conclusion: The elderly's intention of nursing home admission was primarily affected by sociodemographic factors, while price and service level choices were primarily affected by financial factors.
