This paper solves the controller tuning problem of machine-directional predictive control for multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) paper-making processes represented as superposition of first-order-plus-dead-time (FOPDT) components with uncertain model parameters. A user-friendly multi-variable tuning problem is formulated based on user-specified time domain specifications and then simplified based on the structure of the closed-loop system. Based on the simplified tuning problem and a proposed performance evaluation technique, a fast multi-variable tuning technique is developed by ignoring the constraints of the MPC. In addition, a technique to predict the computation time of the tuning algorithm is proposed. The efficiency of the proposed method is verified through Honeywell real time simulator platform with a MIMO paper-making process obtained from real data from an industrial site. Model-based controllers based on incorrect estimates of the true plant behaviour can be expected to perform poorly. This work studies the effect of model plant mismatch on the closed loop behaviour and system performance for a certain class of MIMO systems. Performance is measured using a minimum variance index and a closely related user-specified criterion. We study the effect of model plant mismatch on the output variance and performance indices. Under mild assumptions, the performance of each output in a MIMO system can be analysed independently. Moreover, we propose an approach to distinguish the effect of model–plant mismatch from the effect of changes in disturbance characteristics on closed-loop performance. We define a sensitivity measure that relates system performance to model–plant mismatch, and use it to explore this sensitivity for three realistic types of parametric modelling errors. Next, we suggest a quantitative method that compares a system's actual output to its desired response in a transient setting. The performance of the transient response is demonstrably more sensitive to the model–plant mismatch than the steady state performance. The results are illustrated on industrial paper machine data. This paper investigates single-user uplink and two-user downlink channel estimation in reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided millimeter-wave (mmWave) massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communication systems. Because of the difficulty associated with the estimation of channels in RIS-aided wireless communication systems, channel state information (CSI) is assumed to be known at the receiver in some previous works in the literature. By assuming that prior knowledge of the line-of-sight (LoS) channel between the RIS and the base station (BS) is known, two compressive sensing-based channel estimation schemes that are based on simultaneous orthogonal matching pursuit and structured matching pursuit (StrMP) algorithms are proposed for estimation of uplink channel between RIS and user equipment (UE), and joint estimations of downlink channels between BS and a UE, and between RIS and another UE, respectively. The proposed channel estimation schemes exploit the inherent common sparsity shared by the angular domain mmWave channels at different subcarriers. The superiority of one of the proposed channel estimation techniques, the StrMP-based channel estimation technique, with negligibly higher computational complexity cost compared with other channel estimators, is documented through extensive computer simulation. Specifically, with a reduced pilot overhead, the proposed StrMP-based channel estimation scheme exhibits better performance than other channel estimation schemes considered in this paper for signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) between 0 dB and 5 dB upward at different instances for both uplink and downlink scenarios, respectively. In the traditional iterative learning control (ILC) method, the operational time interval is conventionally fixed to facilitate a seamless learning process along the iteration axis. However, this condition may frequently be contravened in real-time applications owing to unknown uncertainties and unpredictable factors. In essence, replicating a control system at a consistent time interval proves challenging in practical scenarios. This paper proposes an adaptive iterative learning control (AILC) method for the multi-input–multi-output (MIMO) nonlinear system with nonuniform trial lengths and an invertible control gain matrix. Compared to the existing AILC research that features nonuniform trial lengths, the control gain matrix of the system in this paper is assumed to be invertible. Hence, the general requirement in the conventional AILC method that the control gain matrix of the system is positive-definite (or negative-definite) or even known is relaxed. Moreover, the tracking reference allows it to be iteration-varying. Finally, to prove the convergence of the system, the composite energy function is introduced and to verify the validity of the AILC method, a robot movement imitation with an uncalibrated camera system is used. The small-signal stability of high voltage direct current (HVDC)-connected wind farms (WFs) is a challenging issue in modern power systems. The relative stability, i.e., the stability margin, of such a typical multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system is quite difficult to be quantified. This paper evaluates the relative stability of HVDC-connected WFs using a new stability index based on the ν-gap metric. We first develop a MIMO model represented by a transfer function matrix of the HVDC-connected WFs. Then, a new stability index, i.e., the robust stability margin, based on the ν-gap metric is proposed to quantify the relative stability of such a MIMO system. Finally, we propose a method to compute the stable region of control parameters based on the corresponding stability criterion of ν-gap metric. In multi-antenna systems, advanced techniques such as massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), beamforming, and beam selection depend heavily on the accurate acquisition of the channel state. However, pilot contamination (PC) can be a major source of interference which degrades they are performance. Moreover, the severity of PC increases as more pilots are reused between users in the wireless systems. Researchers have shown that PC can be mitigated by using deep learning (DL) approaches. Nevertheless, when minimizing PC, the examination that identifies the applications and factors that distinguish these DL approaches is still limited. This paper reviews these DL approaches and the improvements needed to enhance their performance. This paper addresses the evolving landscape of communication technology, emphasizing the pivotal role of 5G and the emerging 6G networks in accommodating the increasing demand for high-speed and accurate data transmission. We delve into the advancements in 5G technology, particularly the implementation of millimeter wave (mmWave) frequencies ranging from 30 to 300 GHz. These advancements are instrumental in enhancing applications requiring massive data transmission and reception, facilitated by massive MIMO (multiple input multiple output) systems. Looking towards the future, this paper forecasts the necessity for faster data transmission technologies, shifting the focus toward the development of 6G networks. These future networks are projected to employ ultra-massive MIMO systems in the terahertz band, operating within 0.1–10 THz frequency ranges. A significant part of our research is dedicated to exploring advanced signal detection techniques, helping to mitigate the impact of interference and improve accuracy in data transmission and enabling more efficient communication, even in environments with high levels of noise, and including zero forcing (ZF) and minimum mean square error (MMSE) methods, which form the cornerstone of our proposed approach. Additionally, signal detection contributes to the development of new communication technologies such as 5G and 6G, which require a high data transmission efficiency and rapid response speeds. The core contribution of this study lies in the application of deep learning to signal detection in ultra-massive MIMO systems, a critical component of 6G technology. We compare this approach with existing ELMx-based machine learning methods, focusing on algorithmic efficiency and computational performance. Our comparative analysis included the regularized extreme learning machine (RELM) and the outlier robust extreme learning machine (ORELM), juxtaposed with ZF and MMSE methods. Simulation results indicated the superiority of our convolutional neural network for signal detection (CNN-SD) over the traditional ELMx-based, ZF, and MMSE methods, particularly in terms of channel capacity and bit error rate. This survey paper explores advanced nonlinear control strategies for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), including systems such as the Twin Rotor MIMO system (TRMS) and quadrotors. UAVs, with their high nonlinearity and significant coupling effects, serve as crucial benchmarks for testing control algorithms. Integration of sophisticated sensors enhances UAV versatility, making traditional linear control techniques less effective. This paper proposes an optimal beamforming strategy for a downlink multi-user multi-input–multi-output (MIMO) dual-function radar communication (DFRC) system with dirty paper coding (DPC) adopted at the transmitter. We aim to achieve the maximum weighted sum rate of communicating users while adhering to a predetermined transmit covariance constraint for radar performance assurance. To make the intended problem trackable, we leverage the equivalence of the weighted sum rate and the weighted minimum mean squared error (MMSE) to reframe the issue and devise a block coordinate descent (BCD) approach to iteratively calculate transmit and receive beamforming solutions. Through this methodology, we demonstrate that the optimal receive beamforming aligns with the traditional MMSE approach, whereas the optimal transmit beamforming design can be cast into a quadratic optimization problem defined on a complex Stiefel manifold. Based on the majorization–minimization (MM) method, an iterative algorithm is then developed to compute the optimal transmit beamforming design by solving a series of orthogonal Procrustes problems (OPPs) that admit closed-form optimal solutions. Numerical findings serve to validate the efficacy of our scheme. This paper studies transmission strategies for the downlink of a cloud radio access network, in which the base stations are connected to a centralized cloud computing-based processor with digital fronthaul or backhaul links. We provide a system-level performance comparison of two fundamentally different strategies, namely, the data-sharing strategy and the compression strategy, which differ in the way the fronthaul/backhaul is utilized. It is observed that the performance of both strategies depends crucially on the available fronthaul or backhaul capacity. When the fronthaul/backhaul capacity is low, the data-sharing strategy performs better, while under moderate-to-high fronthaul/backhaul capacity, the compression strategy is superior. Using insights from such a comparison, we propose a novel hybrid strategy, combining the data-sharing and compression strategies, which allows for better control over the fronthaul/backhaul capacity utilization. Aiming at the characteristics of resource periodicity in massive MIMO systems and bandwidth allocation without comprehensive consideration of user service QoS and channel state information, resulting in poor user satisfaction and low bandwidth utilization, this paper proposes an adaptive bandwidth allocation method based on user services. This method comprehensively considers factors, such as user service QoS, channel state information, and resource periodicity, to adaptively allocate bandwidth for users using different services. Firstly, based on the service priority, the user priority is dynamically adjusted according to the current channel state information and the continuous periodicity of the allocation, and the user is scheduled.; Secondly, the dynamic priority is combined with the minimum guaranteed time slot to establish the objective function of adaptive bandwidth allocation. Finally, chaos theory, Levy flight, and reverse learning are integrated to improve the bald eagle optimization algorithm. The improved bald eagle algorithm is used to solve the problem, and the optimal solution to bandwidth allocation is obtained. The simulation shows that compared with the traditional bandwidth allocation method based on user service quality perception, the bandwidth allocation algorithm based on the minimum rate requirement, and the ant colony-based allocation algorithm, the bandwidth allocation method proposed in this paper improves the system utility value, bandwidth utilization rate, throughput, and user satisfaction by 23.70%, 4.22%, 6.55%, and 4.28%, respectively, and better meets the business needs of users. A multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna system with low-profile and small element spacing characteristics is presented in this paper. This antenna contains multiple elements arranged in both E-plane and H-plane configurations. The original strong coupling between the MIMO elements can be suppressed by exciting orthogonal operating modes. To achieve this, a half-wavelength microstrip line and a quarter-wavelength grounded stub are utilized to decouple the H- and E-plane MIMO arrays. A 2 × 2 antenna prototype is fabricated and measured to demonstrate the decoupling concept's feasibility. The measured impedance bandwidth is from 4.78 to 4.81 GHz. Across this band, the isolation is better than 15 dB with extremely small edge-to-edge distances of 0.032λ and 0.026λ in the E- and H-plane, respectively. Featuring the simple decoupling structure, small element spacing, and the capability of extending to a large-scale 2 × N array, the proposed antenna can be used for 5G Internet of Things (IoT) applications operating at the N79 frequency band. This paper considers a terahertz (THz) dual-function multi-input multi-output (MIMO) radar and communication system with the assistance of a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) and jointly designs the constant modulus (CM) waveform and RIS phase shifts. A weighted optimization scheme is presented, to minimize the weighted sum of three objectives, including communication multi-user interference (MUI) energy, the negative of multi-target illumination power and the MIMO radar waveform similarity error under a CM constraint. For the formulated non-convex problem, a novel alternating coordinate descent (ACD) algorithm is introduced, to transform it into two subproblems for waveform and phase shift design. Unlike the existing optimization algorithms that solve each subproblem by iteratively approximating the optimal solution with iteration stepsize selection, the ACD algorithm can alternately solve each subproblem by dividing it into multiple simpler problems, to achieve closed-form solutions. Our numerical simulations demonstrate the superiorities of the ACD algorithm over the existing methods. The proliferation of electronic countermeasure (ECM) technology has presented military radar with unprecedented challenges as it remains the primary method of battlefield situational awareness. In this paper, a joint antenna scheduling and power allocation (JASPA) scheme is put forward for multi-target tracking (MTT) in the distributed multiple-input multiple-output (D-MIMO) radar. Aiming at radar resource scheduling in the presence of range deception jamming (RDJ), the false target discriminator is designed based on the Cramer–Rao lower bound (CRLB) in terms of the spoofing range, and the predicted conditional CRLB (PC-CRLB) plays a role in evaluating tracking accuracy. The JASPA scheme integrates the quality of service (QoS) principle to develop an optimization model based on false target discrimination, with the objective of enhancing both the discrimination probability of false targets and the tracking accuracy of real targets concurrently. Since the optimal variables can be separated in constraints, a four-step optimization cycle (FSOC)-based algorithm is developed to solve the multidimensional non-convex problem. The exploiting of hybrid beamforming (HBF) in massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems can enhance the system's sum rate while reducing power consumption and hardware costs. However, designing an effective hybrid beamformer is challenging, and interference between multiple users can negatively impact system performance. In this paper, we develop a scheme called Subset Optimization Algorithm-Hybrid Beamforming (SOA-HBF) that is based on the subset optimization algorithm (SOA), which effectively reduces inter-user interference by dividing the users set into subsets while optimizing the hybrid beamformer to maximize system capacity. To validate the proposed scheme, we constructed a system model that incorporates an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) to address obstacles between the base station (BS) and the users set, enabling efficient wireless communication. Simulation results indicate that the proposed scheme outperforms the baseline by approximately 8.1% to 59.1% under identical system settings. Furthermore, the proposed scheme was applied to a classical BS–users set link without obstacles; the results show its effectiveness in both mmWave massive MIMO and IRS-assisted fully connected hybrid beamforming systems. In this paper, we investigate a cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output (CF-mMIMO) system with a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) carried by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), called the UAV-RIS. Compared with the RIS located on the ground, the UAV-RIS has a wider coverage that can reflect all signals from access points (APs) and user equipment (UE). By correlating the UAV location with the Rician K-factor, we derive a closed-form approximation of the UE achievable downlink rate. Based on this, we obtain the optimal UAV location and RIS phase shift that can maximize the UE sum rate through an alternating optimization method. Simulation results have verified the accuracy of the derived approximation and shown that the UE sum rate can be significantly improved with the obtained optimal UAV location and RIS phase shift. Moreover, we find that with a uniform UE distribution, the UAV-RIS should fly to the center of the system, while with an uneven UE distribution, the UAV-RIS should fly above the area where UEs are gathered. In addition, we also design the best trajectory for the UAV-RIS to fly from its initial location to the optimal destination while maintaining the maximum UE sum rate per time slot during the flight. Massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), or large-scale MIMO, is one of the key technologies for future wireless networks to exhibit a large accessible spectrum and throughput. The performance of a massive MIMO system is strongly reliant on the nature of various channels and interference during multipath transmission. Therefore, it is important to compute accurate channel estimation. This paper considers a massive MIMO system with one-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) on each receiver antenna of the base station. Deep learning (DL)-based channel estimation framework has been developed to reduce signal processing complexity. This DL framework uses conditional generative adversarial networks (cGANs) and various convolutional neural networks, namely reverse residual network (reverse ResNet), squeeze-and-excitation ResNet (SE ResNet), ResUNet++, and reverse SE ResNet, as the generator model of cGAN for extracting the features from the quantized received signals. The simulation results of this paper show that the trained residual block-based generator model of cGAN has better channel generation performance than the standard generator model in terms of mean square error. This paper studies the effectiveness of relaying for interference mitigation in an interference-limited communication scenario. We are motivated by the observation that in a cellular network, a relay node placed at the cell edge observes a combination of intended signal and inter-cell interference that is correlated with the received signal at a nearby destination, so a relaying link can effectively allow the antennas at the relay and at the destination to be pooled together for both signal enhancement and interference mitigation. We model this scenario by a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) Gaussian relay channel with a digital relay-to-destination link of finite capacity, and with correlated noise across the relay and destination antennas. Assuming a compress-and-forward strategy with Gaussian input distribution and quantization noise, we propose a coordinate ascent algorithm for obtaining a stationary point of the non-convex joint optimization of the transmit and quantization covariance matrices. For fixed input distribution, the globally optimum quantization noise covariance matrix can be found in closed-form using a transformation for the relay’s observation that simultaneously diagonalizes two conditional covariance matrices by congruence. For fixed quantization, the globally optimum transmit covariance matrix can be found via convex optimization. This paper further shows that such an optimized achievable rate is within a constant additive gap of the MIMO relay channel capacity. The optimal structure of the quantization noise covariance enables a characterization of the slope of the achievable rate as a function of the relaying link capacity. Moreover, this paper shows that the improvement in spatial degrees of freedom by MIMO relaying in the presence of noise correlation is related to the aforementioned slope via a connection to the deterministic relay channel. This paper provides an analytical performance characterization of both the uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) user-centric network multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, where a cooperating base station (BS) cluster is formed for each user individually and the clusters for different users may overlap. In this model, cooperating BSs (each equipped with multiple antennas) jointly perform zero-forcing beamforming to the set of single-antenna users associated with them. As compared with a baseline network MIMO system with disjoint BS clusters, the effect of user-centric clustering is that it improves signal strength in both the UL and DL, while reducing cluster-edge interference in the DL. This paper quantifies these effects by assuming that BSs and users form Poisson point processes and by further approximating both the signal and interference powers using Gamma distributions of appropriate parameters. We show that BS cooperation provides significant gain as compared to single-cell processing for both the UL and DL, but the advantage of user-centric clustering over the baseline disjoint clustering system is significant for the DL cluster-edge users only. Although the analytic results are derived with the assumption of perfect channel state information and infinite backhaul between the cooperating BSs, they nevertheless provide architectural insight into the design of the future cooperative cellular networks. Grant-free random access (RA) utilizing massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology has attracted considerable attention in recent years due to its potential to enhance spectral efficiency. This paper introduces an innovative and advanced approach for the joint detection of users and estimation of channels in grant-free RA. The approach incorporates two distinct preamble structures: the single orthogonal preamble (SOP) and the concatenated orthogonal preamble (COP). The proposed algorithms make full use of the inherent quasiorthogonal characteristic of massive MIMO, thereby enabling the accurate estimation of user channels while effectively avoiding collisions in the preambles. As a result, these algorithms generate highly precise estimations of user channels. To substantiate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms, this paper provides an extensive theoretical analysis and presents a comprehensive set of experimental results. These findings offer robust evidence for the efficacy of the algorithms in substantially bolstering the performance of grant-free RA. Additionally, we have conducted further research and analysis, which has led to additional insights and refinements in our proposed approach. Moreover, the experimental results validate the statistical significance and reliability of the performance enhancements achieved by these algorithms. Moreover, the proposed approach exhibits robustness in scenarios with different levels of user density and varying channel conditions. Circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers are widely used in industrial production due to their high combustion efficiency, low pollutant emissions and wide load-adjustment range. However, the water-level-control system of a CFB boiler exhibits time-varying behavior and nonlinearity, which affect the control performance of the industrial system. This paper proposes a novel data-driven adaptive integral sliding-mode control (ISMC) method for the CFB control system with external disturbances. Firstly, the scheme designs a discrete ISMC law based on the full-format dynamic linearization (FFDL) data model, which is equivalent to a nonlinear system. Furthermore, a new reaching law is proposed to quickly drive the system state onto the sliding-mode surface. The improved ISMC control scheme only utilizes the input–output data during the design process and does not require model information. After theoretically verifying the stability of the method proposed in this paper, it is further applied in MIMO systems. Finally, the control and practical effects of this method are evaluated by using the DHX25-1.25 CFB boiler installed in the special-equipment testing center. The experimental results show that, compared with the traditional sliding-mode control (SMC) and model-free adaptive-control (MFAC) methods, the improved control method can quickly track the given signal and exhibit resistance to noise interference. Massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems that use the millimeter-wave (mm-wave) band have a higher frequency and more antennas, which leads to significant path loss, high power consumption, and server interference. Due to these issues, the spectrum efficiency is significantly reduced, making spectral efficiency improvement an important research topic for 5G communication. Together with communication in the terahertz (THz) bands, mmWave communication is currently a component of the 5Gstandards and is seen as a solution to the commercial bandwidth shortage. The quantity of continuous, mostly untapped bandwidth in the 30-300GHz band has presented a rare opportunity to boost the capacity of wireless networks. The wireless communications and consumer electronics industries have recently paid a lot of attention to wireless data transfer and media streaming in the mmWave frequency range. Simple massive MIMO beamforming technology cannot successfully prevent interference between multiple networks in the current spectrum-sharing schemes, particularly the complex interference dispersed in indoor communication systems such as homes, workplaces, and stadiums. To effectively improve spectrum utilization and reduce co-channel interference, this paper proposes a novel algorithm. The main idea is to utilize the spectrum in software-defined mmWave massive MIMO networks through coordinated and unified management. Then, the optimal interference threshold is determined through the beam alignmentmethod. Finally, a greedy optimization algorithm is used to allocate optimal spectral resources to the users. For multi-user multiple-input-multiple-output (MU-MIMO) system, transmitter utilizes a pre-equalizer based precoding to cancel inter-stream interference for parallel transmission with the aid of accurate feedback of channel state information (CSI) from all receivers. The correct power scaling factor, which normalizes the symbols power of precoding to be a constant one, is required at each receiver. Due to CSI error and limitation of feed-forward link, the received inaccurate power scaling factor will shrink or expand the received constellation points which severely degrades the performance of MIMO system. In this paper, using nonlinear vector perturbation (VP) and linear zero-forcing (ZF) precoding, we analyze the impact of inaccurate power scaling factor on the performance of a MIMO precoding system. The analyzed results show that the mismatched modulo size from inaccurate power scaling factor severely degrades the performance of the VP system, especially for high order M-QAM modulation. In addition, the performance degradation is strongly related with the distribution of representation points for each M-QAM symbol. For linear ZF precoding, the performance loss from the shrinked or expanded constellation points is severe for system using high order M-QAM. In addition, to alleviate the performance degradation, we propose a VP system using partial perturbation points (PPP). By limiting the region of redundant points with vector perturbation for partial M-QAM symbols, the performance degradation due to the inaccurate power scaling factor can be alleviated. This paper discusses the operation of a massive multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) system from a different perspective. The system is performed in the presence of an eavesdropper who is trying to disrupt the message being transmitted between the base station (BS) and the users. An attempt has been made to maximize the secure energy efficiency (EE) of the system by allocating appropriate power to each user. The channel state information (CSI) between users and the BS is considered imperfect and the employed precoding scheme is the zero forcing (ZF). The CSI related to the eavesdropper is considered to be perfect and its precoding is assumed to be the maximum ratio transmission (MRT). The problem of optimization that is for maximizing the EE has two constraints including the maximum transmission power and the minimum user data rate. To improve the performance of system, the cell division technique is applied, which results in approaching the performance of system to the without eavesdropper scenario. Five various scenarios have been investigated in this research, and it is proved that the proposed method improves the system performance in all cases. This paper investigates the performance of deep neural network (DNN)-based signal detection in multiple input, multiple output (MIMO), communication systems. MIMO technology plays a critical role in achieving high data rates and improved capacity in modern wireless communication standards like 5G. However, signal detection in MIMO systems presents significant challenges due to channel complexities. This study conducts a comparative analysis of signal detection techniques within both the single input, single output (SISO), and MIMO frameworks. The analysis focuses on the entire transmission chain, encompassing transmitters, channels, and receivers. The effectiveness of three traditional methods—maximum likelihood detection (MLD), minimum mean square error (MMSE), and zero-forcing (ZF)—is meticulously evaluated alongside a novel DNN-based approach. The proposed study presents a novel DNN-based signal detection model. While this model demonstrates superior computational efficiency and symbol error rate (SER) performance compared to more conventional techniques like MLD, MMSE, and ZF in the context of a SISO system, MIMO systems face some challenges in outperforming the conventional techniques specifically in terms of computation times. This complexity of MIMO systems presents challenges that the current DNN design has yet to fully address, indicating the need for further developments in wireless communication technology. The observed performance difference between SISO and MIMO systems underscores the need for further research on the adaptability and limitations of DNN architectures in MIMO contexts. In this paper, the problem of joint transmission and computation resource allocation for a multi-user probabilistic semantic communication (PSC) network is investigated. In the considered model, users employ semantic information extraction techniques to compress their large-sized data before transmitting them to a multi-antenna base station (BS). Our model represents large-sized data through substantial knowledge graphs, utilizing shared probability graphs between the users and the BS for efficient semantic compression. The resource allocation problem is formulated as an optimization problem with the objective of maximizing the sum of the equivalent rate of all users, considering the total power budget and semantic resource limit constraints. The computation load considered in the PSC network is formulated as a non-smooth piecewise function with respect to the semantic compression ratio. To tackle this non-convex non-smooth optimization challenge, a three-stage algorithm is proposed, where the solutions for the received beamforming matrix of the BS, the transmit power of each user, and the semantic compression ratio of each user are obtained stage by stage. Hybrid beamforming (HBF) has been regarded as one of the most promising technologies in millimeter Wave (mmWave) communication systems. In order to guarantee the communication quality in non-line-of-sight (NLOS) scenarios, joint HBF design for the mmWave amplify-and-forward (AF) relay communication system is studied in this paper. The ideal case is first considered where the mmWave half-duplex (HD) AF relay system operates with channel state information (CSI) accurately known. In order to tackle the non-convex problem, a manifold optimization (MO)-based alternating optimization algorithm is proposed, where an optimization problem containing only constant modulus constraints in Euclidean space can be converted to an unconstrained optimization problem in a Riemann manifold. Furthermore, considering more practical cases with estimation errors of CSI, we investigate the robust joint HBF design with the system operating in full-duplex (FD) mode to obtain higher spectral efficiency (SE). A null-space projection (NP) based self-interference cancellation (SIC) algorithm is developed to attenuate the self-interference (SI). Different from the traditional SI suppression algorithm, there's no limit on the number of RF chains. Numerical results reveal that our proposed algorithms has a good convergence and can effectively deal with the influence of different CSI estimation errors. This paper presents a new technique for estimating the two-dimensional direction of departure (2D-DOD) and direction of arrival (2D-DOA) in bistatic uniform planar array Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) radar systems. The method is based on the reduced-dimension (RD) MUSIC algorithm, aiming to achieve improved precision and computational efficiency. Primarily, this pioneering approach efficiently transforms the four-dimensional (4D) estimation problem into two-dimensional (2D) searches, thus reducing the computational complexity typically associated with conventional MUSIC algorithms. Then, exploits the spatial diversity of array response vectors to construct a 4D spatial spectrum function, which is crucial in resolving the complex angular parameters of multiple simultaneous targets. Finally, the objective is to simplify the spatial spectrum to a 2D search within a 4D measurement space to achieve an optimal balance between efficiency and accuracy. Simulation results validate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm compared to several existing approaches, demonstrating its robustness in accurately estimating 2D-DOD and 2D-DOA across various scenarios. This study investigates receiver design solutions for distributed Massive Multiple Input Multiple Output (D-m MIMO) systems, taking into account parameters such as number of access points as well as concerns related to channel estimates that use single-carrier frequency-domain equalization (SC-FDE). A significant contribution of this research is the integration of Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) codes to simplify coding complexity and enhance communication efficiency. The research examines different receiver designs, such as spatial antenna correlation and sophisticated channel estimation methods. The authors propose integrating LDPC codes into the receiver architecture to simplify computations and enhance error correction and decoding. This paper presents the performance evaluation of an amplify‐and‐forward (AF) relay‐assisted multiuser multiple input–multiple output (MU–MIMO) downlink transmission system for correlated fading channels. The overall system performance was improved by incorporating a double‐quadrature spatial modulation (DQSM) scheme. The bit error rate (BER) performance and detection complexity of the AF–MU–MIMO–DQSM system were analyzed and compared with those of a conventional AF–MU–MIMO system under the same conditions and parameters. The results showed that the correlated fading channel severely affected the performance of systems with higher spectral efficiency (SE). Considering an SE of 12 bpcu/user, the AF–MU–MIMO–DQSM system yielded a gain of up to 3 dB in BER performance compared with that of its conventional counterpart for the analyzed cases. In terms of detection complexity, the AF–MU–MIMO–DQSM system showed a reduction of up to 56 % compared with that of the conventional system for the optimal maximum likelihood detection criterion. This paper introduces a novel approach aimed at enhancing the control performance of a specific class of unknown multiple-input and multiple-output nonlinear systems. The proposed method involves the utilization of a fractional-order fuzzy sliding mode controller, which is implemented through online fractional-order reinforcement learning (FOFSMC-FRL). First, the proposed approach leverages two Takagi–Sugeno–Kang (TSK) fuzzy neural network actors. These actors approximate both the equivalent and switch control parts of the sliding mode control. Additionally, a critic TSK fuzzy neural network is employed to approximate the value function of the reinforcement learning process. Second, the FOFSMC-FRL parameters undergo online adaptation using an innovative fractional-order Levenberg–Marquardt learning method. This adaptive mechanism allows the controller to continuously update its parameters based on the system's behavior, optimizing its control strategy accordingly. Third, the stability and convergence of the proposed approach are rigorously examined using Lyapunov theorem. Notably, the proposed structure offers several key advantages as it does not depend on knowledge of the system dynamics, uncertainty bounds, or disturbance characteristics. Moreover, the chattering phenomenon, often associated with sliding mode control, is effectively eliminated without compromising the system's robustness. Finally, a comparative simulation study is conducted to demonstrate the feasibility and superiority of the proposed method over other control methods. Reliable identification of spatial parameters for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, such as the number of transmit antennas (NTA) and the direction of arrival (DOA), is a prerequisite for MIMO signal separation and detection. Most existing parameter estimation methods for MIMO systems only consider a single parameter in Gaussian noise. This paper develops a reliable identification scheme based on generalized multi-antenna time-frequency distribution (GMTFD) for MIMO systems with non-Gaussian interference and Gaussian noise. First, a new generalized correlation matrix is introduced to construct a generalized MTFD matrix. Then, the covariance matrix based on time-frequency distribution (CM-TF) is characterized by using the diagonal entries from the auto-source signal components and the non-diagonal entries from the cross-source signal components in the generalized MTFD matrix. Finally, by making use of the CM-TF, the Gerschgorin disk criterion is modified to estimate NTA, and the multiple signal classification (MUSIC) is exploited to estimate DOA for MIMO system. Simulation results indicate that the proposed scheme based on GMTFD has good robustness to non-Gaussian interference without prior information and that it can achieve high estimation accuracy and resolution at low and medium signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs). This paper proposes a digital model predictive controller (DMPC) for a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) DC-DC converter interfaced with renewable energy resources in a hybrid system. Such MIMO systems generally suffer from cross-regulation, which seriously impacts the stability and speed of response of the system. To solve the contemporary issues in a MIMO system, a controller is required to attenuate the cross-regulation. Therefore, this paper proposes a controller, which increases speed of response and maintains stable output by regulating the load voltage independently. The inductor current and the capacitor voltage of the proposed converter are considered as the controlling parameters. With the aid of Forward Euler's procedure, the future values are computed for the instantaneous values of controlling parameters. Cost function defines the control action by the predicted values that describe the system performance and establish optimal condition at which the output of the system is required. This allows proper switching of the system, thereby helping to regulate the output voltages. Thus, for any variation in load, the DMPC ensures steady switching operation and minimization of cross-regulation. To prove the efficacy of proposed DMPC controller, simulations followed by the experimental results are executed on a hybrid system consisting of dual-input dual-output (DIDO) positive Super-Lift Luo converter (PSLLC) interfaced with photovoltaic renewable energy resource. The results thus obtained are compared with the conventional PID (proportional integrative derivative) controller for validation and prove that the DMPC controller is able to control the cross-regulation effectively. The universal filtered multicarrier (UFMC) modulation is among the most considered solutions for the realization of beyond orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) air interfaces for future wireless networks. This paper focuses on the design and analysis of a UFMC transceiver equipped with multiple antennas and operating at millimeter-wave carrier frequencies. This paper provides the full mathematical model of an MIMO-UFMC transceiver, taking into account the presence of hybrid analog/digital beamformers at both ends of the communication links. Then, several detection structures are proposed, both for the case of single-packet isolated transmission and for the case of multiple-packet continuous transmission. In the latter situation, this paper also considers the case in which no guard time among adjacent packets is inserted, trading off an increased level of interference with higher values of spectral efficiency. At the analysis stage, several considered detection structures and transmission schemes are compared in terms of bit-error rate, root-mean-square error, and system throughput. The numerical results show that the proposed transceiver algorithms are effective and that the linear minimum mean-square error (MMSE) data detector is capable of well managing the increased interference brought by the removal of guard times among consecutive packets, thus yielding throughput gains of about 10%–13%. The effect of phase noise at the receiver is also numerically assessed, and it is shown that the recursive implementation of the linear MMSE exhibits some degree of robustness against this disturbance. Due to the importance of both rate‐less digital fountain codes and Multi‐Input Multi‐Output (MIMO) schemes in Fifth and Sixth Generation (5G/6G) wireless networks, this paper investigates enhancing the performance of MIMO‐Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MIMO‐OFDM) based system by employing the rate‐less fountain codes. The rate‐less codes, such as the Tornado codes and Raptor codes, have a flexible code rate that differs from the classical channel coding schemes. This paper uses Raptor code to study the MIMO system's performance with the rate‐less codes over different wireless communications channels. The proposed MIMO‐fountain code‐based system has been tested over the various wireless communication channel conditions concerning the varied Frequency Doppler (FD). In the proposed rate‐less wireless communication system, multiple interleaving techniques and equalizers are used to improve its performance. Computer‐based simulation experiments are assigned to evaluate the MIMO‐fountain code system using the different data transmission scenarios. The paper studies a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted multi-user uplink massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system with imperfect hardware. At the RIS, the paper considers phase noise, while at the base station, the paper takes into consideration the radio frequency impairments and low-resolution analog-to-digital converters. The paper derives approximate expressions for the ergodic achievable rate in closed forms under Rician fading channels. For the cases of infinite numbers of antennas and infinite numbers of reflecting elements, asymptotic data rates are derived to provide new design insights. The derived power scaling laws indicate that while guaranteeing a required system performance, the transmit power of the users can be scaled down at most by the factor $\frac{1}{M}$ when $M$ goes infinite, or by the factor $\frac{1}{MN}$ when $M$ and $N$ go infinite, where $M$ is the number of antennas and $N$ is the number of the reflecting units. Furthermore, an optimization algorithm is proposed based on the genetic algorithm to solve the phase shift optimization problem with the aim of maximizing the sum rate of the system. Due to increasingly strong and varied performance requirements, cooperative wireless communication systems today occupy a prominent place in both academic research and industrial development. The technological and economic challenges for future sixth-generation (6G) wireless systems are considerable, with the objectives of improving coverage, data rate, latency, reliability, mobile connectivity and energy efficiency. Over the past decade, new technologies have emerged, such as massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) relay systems, intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS), unmanned aerial vehicular (UAV)-assisted communications, dual-polarized (DP) antenna arrays, three dimensional (3D) polarized channel modeling, and millimeter-wave (mmW) communication. The objective of this paper is to provide an overview of tensor-based MIMO cooperative communication systems. Indeed, during the last two decades, tensors have been the subject of many applications in signal processing, especially for digital communications, and more broadly for big data processing. After a brief reminder of basic tensor operations and decompositions, we present the main characteristics allowing to classify cooperative systems, illustrated by means of different architectures. A review of main codings used for cooperative systems is provided before a didactic and comprehensive presentation of two-hop systems, highlighting different tensor models. In a companion paper currently in preparation, we will show how these tensor models can be exploited to develop semi-blind receivers to jointly estimate transmitted information symbols and communication channels. In order to degrade the inter-user interference caused by the same beam selected for different users in mmWave massive MIMO systems, this paper proposes a joint beam selection combining cuckoo search (CS) and ant colony optimization (ACO) (referred to as CSACO). Differently from the existing interference-aware beam selection, a candidate beam set (CBS) for all users is created according to the power distribution of the beamspace channel, thereby all users can be classified into non-interfering users (NIUs) and interfering users (IUs), and NIUs will be assigned the beams with large power directly, while for IUs, the beams are selected by the CSACO; in the proposed CSACO, all beams for IUs are regarded as an optimizable individual, which is continuously evolved towards the direction of sum-rate maximization. This paper studies the subcarrier allocation and precoder design problem for downlink multiple-input-multiple-output-orthogonal frequency-division multiple access systems. The criterion is to maximize the energy efficiency (EE) of the system. We adopt the time-sharing concept to allocate each subcarrier to one user, which results in a criterion similar with that of rate maximization. However, this approach does not make it possible to solve the problem for any value of the transmit power. We found that there exist gaps along the direction of total transmit power when the user selection switches for each subcarrier, which leads to a discontinuous EE function, for which quasi-concavity has to be checked. We first show that the sufficient conditions obtained for the subcarrier allocation approach are the optimal ones among all possibilities with the same transmit power. Then, we show that the proposed subcarrier allocation results in a discontinuous and quasi-concave EE function. We also give an upper bound of the EE function when the proposed sufficient conditions are not met. In this article, a multiuser (MU) multiinput multioutput (MIMO) system is considered, which is essential to support a huge number of subscribers without consuming extra bandwidth or power. Dirty paper coding (DPC) for MU MIMO channel achieves the peak sum-rate for the MU multiple antenna system at the cost of high computational complexity. Both user and antenna scheduling with a population based meta-heuristic algorithm, i.e. binary flower pollination algorithm (binary FPA) has been demonstrated in this article to achieve system sum-rate comparable to DPC with very less computational complexity and time complexity. Moreover, binary FPA shows a significant improvement in system throughput/sum-rate performance as compared to other population based meta-heuristic algorithms like binary bat algorithm (binary BA) and binary genetic algorithm (binary GA). Furthermore, the proposed binary FPA algorithm successfully achieves higher system sum-rate as compared to random search scheme and different existing suboptimal scheduling algorithms from literature as well. The binary FPA has also better convergence rate and searching ability than both binary BA and binary GA techniques. The percentage deviation achieved by the proposed binary FPA algorithm is quite less than that of binary BA, binary GA, random search method, and existing suboptimal scheduling algorithms from the literature. This two-part paper aims to quantify the cost of device activity detection in an uplink massive connectivity scenario with a large number of devices but device activities are sporadic. Part I of this paper shows that in an asymptotic massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) regime, device activity detection can always be made perfect. Part II of this paper subsequently shows that despite the perfect device activity detection, there is nevertheless significant cost due to device detection in terms of overall achievable rate, because of the fact that nonorthogonal pilot sequences have to be used in order to accommodate the large number of potential devices, resulting in significantly larger channel estimation error as compared to conventional massive MIMO systems with orthogonal pilots. Specifically, this paper characterizes each active user's achievable rate using random matrix theory under either maximal-ratio combining (MRC) or minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) receive beamforming at the base station (BS), assuming the statistics of their estimated channels as derived in Part I. The characterization of user rate also allows the optimization of pilot sequences length. Moreover, in contrast to the conventional massive MIMO system, the MMSE beamforming is shown to achieve much higher rate than the MRC beamforming for the massive connectivity scenario under consideration.
