In the era of Industry 4.0, digital transformation has spurred the swift advancement of technologies, including intelligent predictive maintenance scheduling, prognostics and health management. The accurate prediction of remaining useful life plays a crucial role in these technologies as it extends power equipment’s safe operational duration and decreases the maintenance costs associated with unforeseen shutdowns. Also, the increased accessibility of data for monitoring system conditions has paved the way for the more immense adoption of machine learning models in prognostics and health management for power transformers. At the moment, with the ever-increasing demand for electricity, there is a corresponding increase in the degradation processes of power transformers. Transformers insulation system and more importantly, the paper insulation happens to be the principal part where the degradation is prominent. Therefore, an accurate prediction of the insulating paper condition through its degree of polymerization is required to guarantee the reliability of power transformers. In this regard, the predictions, reliability, and health monitoring of this power equipment can be actualized by modeling the degradation of transformer insulation paper through several machine learning frameworks. In this view, this review paper has been drafted not only to serve as a guide for researchers interested in the fields of transformer insulation system fault prognosis but also to offer insights into potential research directions as existing literature in modeling and evaluating transformer paper insulation is presented.

Letters in literature intimately convey information to both the characters and the reader; letters in literature also represent captured moments that the characters can revisit over and over again to relive memories of themselves and the letter’s author from the vantage of temporal distance. When characters keep letters into their old age, the letter becomes a catalyst for reflection on who they have become in their society. In Henry James’s novella The Aspern Papers, the titular papers are in possession by a famous author’s former lover, now an old woman, and a young man is trying to purchase them for their literary value. The old woman uses the letters as leverage to claim power for herself and her niece. Edith Wharton’s novella The Touchstone similarly focuses on the letters of a famous dead author, but in this case, it is a man having to confront the passionate affair of his youth, when wanting to settle into the prescribed social views on marriage and career. Both of these works use the letter as a way to explore the tensions that come with having a record of cavalier youthful behaviors with the desire to maintain a position in society – the tension between dissention and conforming. These two novellas take two different positions on this tension with James favoring the former and Wharton the latter. Both illustrate the complicated cultural forces that shape perceptions of ageing

Abstract Focussing on the insulating material of power transformer—cellulose insulation paper, this paper first introduces the basic characteristics and engineering application background of insulation paper. Then, the research progress of improving the mechanical properties, thermal stability and electrical properties of insulation paper by nano modification in recent years is compared, and the promotion mechanism is analysed. In addition, in practical engineering application, the oil–paper composite insulation system composed of insulation paper and insulating oil is used for the internal insulation of oil immersed transformer. Therefore, the influence of modified insulation paper on the performance of oil–paper composite insulation system is analysed. Finally, the newly reported new insulation paper is introduced, and the future development trend of modification of traditional insulation paper is analysed.

Abstract The insulation paper is a crucial factor for evaluating the insulation status of transformers. The traditional evaluation methods for insulation paper are dissolved gas component content analysis (CO and CO2) and furfural (2‐FAL) content analysis in oil. The detection principle of the former leads to its low accuracy, while the field application effect of the latter is not ideal due to the easy oxidation of furfural and low content. Methanol, result of its good stability and high production compared with other marker products (CO, CO2, 2‐FAL) has been investigated as a novel marker for aging evaluation of transformer insulating paper in recent years. The results of the investigation indicated that there is a good correlation between the content of methanol in oil and the degree of polymerization under laboratory conditions, which reflected the insulation aging state of the transformer insulating paper more accurately. This paper summarizes the current research status of methanol formation mechanism, detection methods and aging evaluation in insulating oil, and points out the key problems to be solved and development prospects, hoping to provide relevant reference for aging evaluation of oil immersed power transformer.

Abstract This study extensively investigated the ageing characteristics and lifetime model of oil–paper insulation for oil‐immersed paper condenser bushing. The accelerated thermal and electrothermal ageing experiments of oil‐immersed paper condenser bushing were conducted respectively. The properties of oil–paper insulation during the ageing process were investigated. Results showed that descending speed of degree of polymerization of the innermost and the outermost layer paper was higher than that of middle layer paper, the difference in water content on different paper layers caused varying deterioration speeds. The aluminium foil contributed to a surge in aluminium dissolution in oil, further accelerating the ageing of insulation. Based on the obtained degree of polymerization data under thermal ageing at 90°C, 100°C and 130°C, the lifetime model of oil–paper insulation for condenser bushing model was established. In addition, the surface breakdown of the scale model of bushing occurred after 133 days ageing, the properties of bushing decreased gradually during the ageing process and sharply after the breakdown. Degree of polymerization deviation of different paper layers in bushing between calculated value according to the above lifetime model and actual value of bushing after the breakdown was less than 6%, further verifying the validity of lifetime model.

However, their use in power transformers is limited due to insufficiently well-understood ageing processes affecting their properties and the properties of cellulosic materials impregnated with them. The research results presented in many scientific papers prove that the use of esters slows the ageing process of cellulosic materials. This article presents the results of research aimed at answering the question of whether the effect of slowing the ageing process will also occur in the case of insulation with very low initial moisture. The answer to this question will allow us to better understand the role of water in the ageing process of the transformer’s insulation system. The thermal ageing process was carried out at a temperature of 150 °C in closed systems. The degree of cellulose polymerisation was taken as a measure of the degree of paper ageing. Great attention was paid to measuring the water content in both paper and electro-insulating liquids at various stages of their ageing. Furthermore, measurements of the properties of electro-insulating liquids were made, which are considered markers of ageing. The test results obtained indicate that in the case of a dry insulation system, corresponding to the initial moisture of the new units, the type of liquid used to impregnate the cellulosic material does not significantly affect its depolymerisation process. However, in the case of paper impregnated with natural esters, a lower dynamic of moisture increase in insulation was observed.

Cellulose paper deteriorates as a result of ageing due to some chemical reactions like pyrolysis (heat), hydrolysis (moisture), and oxidation (oxygen) that affects its degree of polymerization. The condition analysis of cellulose paper has been a major concern since the collection of paper samples from an operational power transformer is almost impossible. However, some chemicals generated during cellulose paper deterioration, which were dissolved in dielectric liquid, have been used alternatively for this purpose as they show a direct correlation with the paper’s degree of polymerization. Furthermore, online and non-destructive measurement of the degree of polymerization by optical sensors has been proposed recently but is yet to be available in the market and is yet generally acceptable. In mitigating the magnitude of paper deterioration, some ageing assessments have been proposed. Furthermore, researchers have successfully enhanced the insulating performance of oil-impregnated insulation paper by the addition of various types of nanoparticles. This study reviews the ageing assessment of oil-paper composite insulation and the effect of nanoparticles on tensile strength and electrical properties of oil-impregnated paper insulation. It includes not only significant tutorial elements but also some analyses, which open the door for further research on the topic.

The objective of this study was to characterise the anaerobic degradation of three paper mill waste water treatment residues in the shape of sludges and to correlate this anaerobic digestion to the physico-chemical characteristics of the paper sludges. After a deep characterisation of each paper sludge in their initial stage, several parameters were analysed on each paper sludge in mesophilic conditions for 40–50 days: pH, conductivity, chemical oxygen demand, total organic acids and organic fibres degradation. A special care was taken to identify and quantify the volatile fatty acids (VFAs) produced by the digestion using gas chromatography coupled with a mass spectrometer. The results showed that in paper sludges, cellulose mainly degrades over time while the degradation of the other fibres (hemicellulose and lignin) is limited. Consequently, the greater the cellulose content in a paper sludge, the greater the digestion and formation of VFAs. However, not all the cellulose degrades because of a shielding effect of lignin on cellulose, and a pH buffering effect of the calcium carbonate present in the paper sludges limits the hydrolysis-acidogenesis step of the anaerobic digestion. Finally, the gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) investigations showed that acetic acid is the main VFA produced by the anaerobic digestion of paper sludges. This study proposed a proof-of-concept methodology for the investigation of paper samples by utilizing ATR-FTIR spectroscopy supported by chemometric methods. An attempt on the analysis of aged writing papers due to the degradation of their chemical constituents with time has been made. The degradation of its constituents with time is directly linked to the age of the paper since its production. This further links the questioned document with the fraudster, and sometimes it becomes crucial information in the court of law to reach to conclusion. The present study offers a method to discriminate, and estimate the age of unknown writing paper. The statistical models like Curve Estimation (CE), multiple linear regressions (MLR), and partial least squares regression (PLSR), are built to predict the age of the papers. The maximum dating errors are in the CE model whereas, MLR and PLSR models show excellent age estimation of unknown paper with minimum error of ±5 days and ±3 days in actual and estimated date of artificial ageing respectively. Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS), as one of analysis technologies, has shown promisingly industrial applications for significant properties for recent decades such as fast response, preciseness, non-intrusion etc. Here, the authors employed NIRS coupled with a series of physical and chemical tests to assess the ageing condition of oil-paper insulation, which is responsible for the main insulation type of high-voltage power transformer. Among these procedures, the data analytic algorithms are of utmost importance to determine the evaluation precision. After plenty of trial-and-error, Savitzky-Golay (S-G) convolution was finally utilised to de-noise samples and improve the spectral data quality. The competitive adaptive reweighted sampling (CARS) was used to select the optimal wavelength combination of NIRS, which is found able to fully extract the effectively spectral information and reduce dimensions of spectral data. Based on the above-mentioned techniques, the quantitative analysis model of NIRS was established by partial least squares (PLS), which could synthetically process the spectral data and the degree of polymerisation (DP) of paper samples. The results indicated that compared with the traditional detection methods, the NIRS analysis is a powerful and informative tool to characterise the condition of oil-paper insulation without intrusion or damage to transformers.

This paper presents an experimental study on the physicochemical properties of rice oil, peanut oil, corn oil and Kraft paper immersed in these oils in the presence of antioxidants (butylated hydroxytoluene, tertiary butyl hydroquinone and Naugalube¯ 750). The experiments are performed on new and aged conditions. Ageing of oils is carried at 115 °C for 96 hours while Kraft paper is aged in oils at 130 °C for 164 hours. Both closed and open cup methods are used for ageing. The results show that ageing insignificantly affects the breakdown voltage, but markedly increases the acid number and the viscosity of the vegetable oils. The combination of tertiary butyl hydroquinone and either butylated hydroxytoluene or Naugalube¯ 750 slightly increases the breakdown voltage, but significantly raises the oxidation stability of the vegetable oils. This results in a reduction in the viscosity and the acid number of the vegetable oils. Moisture significantly affects the breakdown voltage of both vegetable and mineral oil. High moisture content results in low breakdown voltage. The results also show that ageing insignificantly affects the breakdown voltage, but markedly decreases the tensile strength of oil-impregnated paper. Although the presence of antioxidants does not increase the breakdown voltage of aged paper, these additives slow down the ageing process. This work has been conducted to investigate the effect of accelerated ageing on the filler-free (control) handsheets and the ones having Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) and Zeolite (Clinoptilolite) fillers. The diagnosis approach of this work has been based on the use of the techniques of attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The FT-IR technique has allowed identifying the changes in cellulose components of handsheets. Likewise, the XRD technique has provided to diagnose the changes in crystallinity of the handsheets and fillers. The results found out that PCC and Zeolite fillers could be easily added to the structure of the paper network by changing various experimental variables. The loss of C−O functional groups and the formation of carbonyl groups in handsheets has been analysed by accelerated ageing. The spectroscopy results confirmed that usage of zeolite filler has a retarding and structurally improving effect on the glycosidic linkages. Recent findings have been provided new insights into the role of the synergistic effect of the combination of PCC and zeolite fillers in the decelerating of certain ageing mechanism. Managing a large fleet of ageing assets has become a technical challenge faced by many electricity utilities in developed countries. Asset managers are increasingly interested in techniques that can help extend the useful lifetime of a transformer. Oil regeneration is one of such techniques. In this paper, oil regeneration experiments were performed on a 6.4/0.4 kV retired distribution transformer to investigate the effect of oil regeneration on improving paper conditions. Oil regeneration was conducted in two stages, with the first stage aimed at ‘cleaning the oil’ and the second stage targeted at ‘cleaning the paper’. Oil samples were collected at regular intervals throughout the process and paper samples were obtained from the transformer before and after each oil regeneration stage. It was found that oil regeneration restores oil parameters, including moisture and acidity, similar to those of new oils at the end of stage 1. Analysis of paper samples indicated a reduction in paper moisture at the end of stage 2 by nearly 40%, while low molecular weight acids (LMA) in paper exhibited a reduction by around 30% on average. It is found that the extended oil regeneration period, i.e., stage 2, is necessary to improve the paper condition and hence to reduce the paper ageing rate.

Abstract: Various parameters that may affect the efficiency of tri- and di-functional aminoalkylalkoxysilanes (AAAS) copolymer treatments to deacidify and mechanically strengthen aged complex papers (lignocellulosic pulp, additives) were studied. Three model papers were first hydrothermally aged (90 °C—50% RH) in order to achieve physicochemical characteristics similar to those of a naturally aged newsprint, and were then treated with AAAS copolymers. The chemical composition of the treatments varied from 50 to 5 wt% of tri-functional monomer APTES, the latter acting as cross-linker in the copolymer network. The respective ratio of tri- and di-functional monomers in the mixture was shown to greatly influence the mechanical properties of the treated papers in the case of APTES/DIAMINO but less so in the case of APTES/AMDES. If APTES/DIAMINO (50/50 wt%) did not strengthen the degraded papers, a higher proportion of DIAMINO (95 wt%) and lower proportion of APTES (5 wt%) led to improving the tensile strength and, more importantly for the function properties of paper, significantly enhancing the folding endurance. The treatment efficiency decreased at higher state of deterioration of the papers and in the presence of alum-rosin sizing. Lastly, the treatments developed for the artificially aged model papers were applied to the degraded newsprint paper specimen and successfully enhanced its mechanical properties.Graphical abstract: [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract The World Federation of Chiropractic supports the involvement of chiropractors in public health initiatives, particularly as it relates to musculoskeletal health. Three topics within public health have been identified that call for a renewed professional focus. These include healthy ageing; opioid misuse; and women’s, children’s, and adolescents’ health. The World Federation of Chiropractic aims to enable chiropractors to proactively participate in health promotion and prevention activities in these areas, through information dissemination and coordinated partnerships. Importantly, this work will align the chiropractic profession with the priorities of the World Health Organization. Successful engagement will support the role of chiropractors as valued partners within the broader healthcare system and contribute to the health and wellbeing of the communities they serve.

Smart, environmentally friendly alternatives, i.e., frankincense and rice starch, are recommended for usage in modern paper conservation processes during the re-sizing process treatments. Different concentrations of frankincense and rice starch were applied to paper samples before and after ageing. Multiple analysis methods were performed to ensure the effectiveness of these materials. Promising results were found, but at varying degrees according to the type and concentration of the materials. Scanning electron microscopy illustrated that the frankincense particles were completely absorbed into the cell walls after ageing. Results indicated that there was no considerable change in pH before and after treatment or ageing; the best results for decreasing the acidity utilized a treatment with a mixture of frankincense and rice starch in a 2 to 1 ratio (F2S1). Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy illustrated an increased CH2 region and decreased OH stretching as a result of the bonds formed from the starch and crystals formed by frankincense, which agreed with the increased coating and strength of the paper fibers. The total color change values of all the treated samples after ageing were less than 4.5. Frankincense was found to provide strength in supporting wood fibers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The existing research on furfural analysis mainly focuses on the relationship between the furfural content in oil and the degree of polymerization (DP) of the paper, which are always obtained by accelerated thermal aging at high temperatures. However, the operating temperature of a winding is relatively low, approximately 60°C to 90°C. Thus, the relationship established at high temperature may be not suitable for the operating temperatures. In this research, aging tests of oil‐paper systems at different temperatures (from 100°C to 130°C) were carried out, with the DP, furfural content in oil and furfural content in paper being measured regularly to analyze the effect of temperature variation on the production and diffusion behavior of furfural in oil–paper insulation. The results show that temperature influences the production of furfural, i.e., there is no obvious difference in the amount of furfural produced by paper in the initial aging periods; however, a higher temperature results in more furfural being produced when the DP decreases to values below 600. An obvious diffusion process occurs after furfural is produced in paper in accelerated aging experiments, resulting in most of the furfural content remaining in the cellulose paper in the initial aging period. The AC breakdown properties of Kraft paper, pressboard and the enamel insulation layer in riceoil, peanut oil and corn oil were investigated under both new and agedconditions. The ageing of paper insulators and the enamel insulation layer inoils with the open cup method was carried out at 130 oC for 500 h in an aircirculation oven. The puncture breakdown strength was determined by varying thenumber of layers and thickness of Kraft paper, while various electrode gapdistances were used to measure the surface breakdown strength. Experimentalresults show that the breakdown strength and the tensile strength of paperinsulators impregnated with these vegetable oils are comparable to that inmineral oil, and the surface breakdown strength of paper insulators is slightlyaffected by types of impregnating oils. The ageing significantly reduces boththe breakdown strength and the tensile strength of paper insulators ininvestigated oils. In addition, it was also found that the enamel layer invegetable oils withstood higher puncture breakdown strength than in mineral oil,and the ageing process significantly reduced the puncture breakdown strength ofthe enamel layer. The condition assessment of oil–paper insulation is a vital issue in transformer management. To investigate the effect of moisture content on the accuracy of the prediction model, accelerated ageing experiments were performed with different initial moisture content (IMC) in laboratory condition. Two types of multi-parameter lifetime prediction models, e.g. with and without consideration of IMC, were presented for comparison purpose. The authors found that a better accuracy for its prediction results could be achieved by establishing the prediction models with the consideration of IMC. Besides, models considering IMC have better economic feasibility than that without considering IMC(non-IMC) as its total cost is cheaper according to life cycle cost (LCC) calculations. In this paper, frequency dielectric spectroscopy (FDS) and an innovative optical sensor for the detection of 2-furaldehyde (2-FAL) are used to check the degree of ageing of differently processed oil-paper specimens when exposed to thermal stress. The analysis of the trend of moisture content and of 2-FAL concentrations confirms the influence of drying pre-treatment of the specimens on their ageing conditions. FDS elucidated the nature of the drying process of the specimens and the optical sensor correctly assesses a lower 2-FAL production for the vapour phase dried specimens during thermal exposure. In this study, the degradation of cellulose is investigated with particular attention to the breaking of glucose chain units. Based on the analysis of the Raman spectra of experimental samples, public and private collections of books covering a period of seven centuries (XV–XXI), and literature data on cellulose, a successful kinetic model was proposed with the intention to correlate an estimated ageing time with the degradation process of cellulose. Raman spectra were collected by means of portable non‐destructive NIR μ‐Raman spectroscopy (B&W TEK i‐Raman Ex integrated system), a valuable characteristic for monitoring documentary heritage. The model was successfully applied to study the conservation conditions of books of a public library, evidencing how conservation conditions and use affect the ageing. The kinetic model promotes Raman spectroscopy as a very useful tool for conservation and restoration of ancient books and papers. Books and documents conserved at the "Biblioteca Universitaria di Cagliari" (BUCA) and belonging to a certified Private Collection, were analysed. Samples represent the temporal evolution of paper used during the investigated period, from 1400 until modern age. Nomex insulation paper has been widely used in mining dry type transformer insulation because of its excellent performance. However, the injection of space charge can affect the electrical properties of the Nomex paper and accelerate the ageing process of the insulation system, which causes the insulation system failure or even breakdown. Therefore, it is of great practical value to study the space charge characteristics of Nomex insulation paper in different hygrothermal ageing conditions. The accelerated hygrothermal ageing tests of Nomex insulation specimens with different initial moisture contents were conducted. The space charge distribution of specimens impregnated by varnish were measured by the pulsed electro‐acoustic method at different ageing stages. Simultaneously, the space charge characteristics during polarising and depolarising phases were deeply analysed. Experimental results show that negative charges accumulate between the varnish‐paper interface in specimens near the anode. The number of negative charges gradually decreases with the increase of ageing degree. Under the influence of humidity, Nomex paper can be hydrolysed, which increases the trap density and trap level. Finally, a large amount of positive and negative charges in aged specimens would result in the distortion of the local electric field, which could decrease the breakdown strength of Nomex insulation specimens and be a threat to transformer insulation. To date, older adults have received little attention in the newly emerging technological narratives of transnational religion. This is surprising, given the strong association of later life with spiritual and religious engagement, but it likely reflects the ongoing assumption that older adults are technophobic or technologically incompetent. Drawing on ethnographic interviews with older Sinhalese Buddhist migrants from Sri Lanka, living in Melbourne, this paper explores the digital articulations of transnational religion that arise from older migrants' uses of digital media. We focus on how engagements with digital media enable older Sinhalese to respond to an urgent need to accumulate merit in later life, facilitating their temporal strategies for ageing as migrants. ABSTRACT Biopolymers and their composites were added during the formation of unbleached Kraft bagasse pulp paper sheets to improve the mechanical strength properties of the produced hand sheets. The biopolymers (cellulose, chitosan, and chitosan-cellulose composite) were either crosslinked or noncrosslinked and they were added in series of concentrations from 0.1% to 1.5%. The characterization of the samples using the Fourier transform infrared (IR) technique identified differences in the intensities of the characteristic IR absorption bands for chitosan, cellulose, and their composites, these differences are due to the various degrees of hydrogen bonding. The surface morphology of the biopolymers composites and the treated paper sheets were studied using SEM technique. Both the equilibrium moisture sorption and the diffusion coefficient of the paper sheets containing 1% additives were evaluated at regular time intervals. The service life of a transformer depends on the ageing degree of the internal oil–paper insulation. In order to reliably predict the remaining service life of oil–paper insulation for a single transformer, this study proposes a method based on monitoring the performance degradation data of oil–paper insulation. In this study, the remaining life prediction model of oil–paper insulation is established according to the Wiener stochastic process. The parameters of the model are iteratively updated by using the Bayesian rule and maximum expectation algorithm. The objective of remaining service life prediction of transformer oil–paper insulation is achieved. In the laboratory, multiple groups of oil–paper insulation samples undergo an ageing test at 130°C. Certain amount of performance degradation data is obtained by continuously monitoring the oil–paper insulation. Along with the prediction method of remaining life, the accuracy of the remaining life prediction of transformer oil–impregnated paper is verified when the model parameters are updated. Study of alternate fluids for transformer and their combination with traditional ones is an interesting area of research. The intent of this work is to investigate the thermal ageing performance of ester oils (synthetic and natural), and mixed oil vis‐à‐vis mineral oil. All the samples were thermally stressed at 110, 140, 160, and 185°C for 2 weeks each. Dissolved decay contents in oil and linear thermal expansion coefficients of solid insulation have been studied using ultraviolet visible infrared spectroscopy and dilatometry analysis, respectively, as per ASTM standards. Change in functional groups of the insulation oils with ageing have been understood by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis. Additionally, diffusion of oil–moisture mixture into paper with ageing and the corresponding effect on dielectric strength of paper has been also examined using ASTM standards. It is observed that the use of synthetic ester (SE) and addition of SE to mineral insulating oil lead to improved performance of oil–paper insulation system with retarding the rate of degradation of the insulation system. The oil‐impregnated transformer is an important part of the power system. The ageing degree of the internal oil‐paper insulation determines the service life of the transformer. The low frequency of the frequency domain dielectric spectroscopy can effectively characterise the ageing degree of transformer oil‐paper insulation. For accurately and quantitatively evaluate the aging state of oil‐paper insulation of transformer, the physical process of low‐frequency electrode polarisation is theoretically analysed in this work. Considering the polarisation of the low‐frequency electrode, the theoretical expression of the dielectric response of the equivalent XY model of the transformer is obtained. Meanwhile, to verify the rationality of the theoretical expression, the accelerated thermal ageing test of the oil‐paper insulation samples were carried out under laboratory conditions. The DC conductivity, ion mobility and FDS tests of oil‐paper insulation samples were tested on ageing 5, 10 and 15 days, respectively. The test results were combined with the theoretical expression of the low‐frequency dielectric response. It is found that the difference between the calculated result and the measured result is small. Therefore, the theoretical expression of the transformer equivalent XY model can be applied to calculate the dielectric parameters of the oil‐paper insulation at low‐frequency. Induction period evaluated from time domain dielectric response of oil‐paper insulation (OPI) contains information related to heat dissipating property of oil. In the present paper, effect of aging sensitive oil properties on the value of induction period is investigated. Three types of dielectric liquids (pure mineral oil, synthetic ester, mixture of synthetic ester, and mineral oil) are considered for the present work. A neural network (NN) is used for modelling the non‐linear relationship between induction period and various oil properties. The main goal of this study was to study and evaluate the effect of MMA/HEMA copolymer on the mechanical properties and chemical composition of wood pulp and cotton I inter cellulose fibers samples under accelerated ageing .The change of the physical and chemical properties of the untreated and treated paper after ageing was assessed by different methods. The results revealed that copolymer improves the mechanical properties of the paper sheets with reduction in the AE. hut after heat ageing the value increased, which is a point to consider. From the micrographs, it is dear that the treated fibers are more bundled to each other than the untreated fibers where this fiber bundles increased by increasing the copolymer concentration.
