The contribution deals with the possibilities of the use of existing commercially available vectorization programs for recognition drawing entities in raster graphics format obtained by scanning of the engineering drawing. Drawing entities as a line (solid, dashed, dot-dashed etc.), dimension, hatch, various symbols, text, etc., have specific semantic for the designer defined by standards. Expert knows to interpret this graphic language and he knows to create a mental model of the real object. To be able interpret digital content of the engineering drawing obtained by scanning by the form of 3D computer model often requires to perform many intelligent operations. In the first step it is necessary to obtain such vector representation of the scanned drawing to be able to identify the original drawing entities. Suitability of using the contemporary commercial vectorizing programs for engineering drawings was verified on the test sample of the drawing entities and the results are published in the paper.

The system for automatic analysis of test papers needs a algorithm which is efficient and converges fast, Genetic Algorithm is just fit for it.The paper is mainly discuss the basic concept of Genetic Algorithm,three important Genetic operator, the general step of Genetic Algorithm, and introduction of the system for automatic analysis of test papers.We follow the coding,selecting,crossover and mutation of Genetic Algorithm,discuss the process of automatic analysis of test papers.

Most of the scientific research engines utilize the same way to rank scientific research papers (SRP), this way is highly depend on the citation network. The retrieved results of these engines for any keyword contain old papers with the highest citation value. In this paper, we proposed a new and easy to implement ranking algorithm for scientific research papers known as Paper Time Ranking Algorithm (PTRA). PTRA is a new ranking algorithm that depends on three factors to rank its results; paper age, citation index and publication venue. To construct and prove our ranking algorithm we created a web crawler that crawl different scientific search papers databases in the world to collect the information that PTRA needs. Unfortunately, some of this information was missing, such as, the impact factor of the journals. To collect this information, we created another crawler that search the Internet for these journals impact factors. However, to prove our ranking algorithm results, we have compared PTRA with Google scholar ranking algorithm. We used Google scholar, since it has more than 50 million papers and its own system can gather and collect papers in a faster way. Our comparison results show that, citation index has the highest impact on Google scholars ranking algorithm results. Unlike PTRA that gains the paper age a higher impact on the ranked results. However, PTRA depends on the citation index and publication venue to rank the results but with less impact than the paper age.

The functionality of textiles can be complimented by using a wide variety of modification technologies. This study focuses on textile modification with sol-gel technology as a part of smart sock prototype development. Zinc acetate dehydrate (ZAD) is integrated in sol synthesis and used as modifier thus improving modified cotton yarn mechanical properties and also can prolong time between washing, taking into account modifiers antimicrobial properties. Four hanks of pure cotton yarns with length of 300 m, where modified with silica-based sol with 7,5 wt% ZAD as a modifier. As a part of this study tensile strength and elongation of yarn was determined and changes in liner density were observed. Average yarn linear density increases by 19 % and linear density for knitted samples increases by 2,6 %. Therefore, yarn strength for 80 % of modified samples shows mean value of 2,32 N, that is 17 % higher than unmodified samples.

The complex nonlinear problem exists between the factors which influence the strength of hybrid fiber reinforced concrete. The nonlinear relationship between input variables as the factors and output variables as the strength can be obtained artificial neural network which have the feature of self-adapting, self-studying and nonlinear mapping. RBF and BP neural network models are established in MATLAB in this paper based on experimental values. Compressive strength and flexural strength of hybrid fiber reinforced concrete are predicted respectively and comparing with the measured values, predicted values are analyzed. The results show that the predicted values based on RBF tally with the experimental values, and the strength prediction ability of RBF is higher than BP neural network. The needs of engineering can be meet by this method with accurate prediction ability, a new method for the study of hybrid fiber reinforced concrete strength is provided.

Box takes different types of loads created by a cushion, traffic, water, soil, etc. This paper deals with the optimum design of box culvert by using Newton's-Raphson Method and AppDesigner in MATLAB Software R2017a and studies the design parameters such as the influence of depth of earth fill at the top slab of the culvert, earth pressure, factor Dead Load, Live load, effective width, etc. In this paper, the study of the box-culvert with normal and minimum cushion analyzed for different classes of loadings and conclusions made on the basis of Newton's-Raphson Method normal and minimum cushion and normal cushioning cases.

The paper is focused on the fire model parameter variability and its effect on the determination of fire resistance of concrete structural members.For the modelling of fire, the parametric temperature-time curve given in EN 1991-1-2 is used.First part of the paper is aimed on the fire model parameter variability in general.First, fire model parameter ranges are described and their combinations are created using two common sampling methods -- Monte Carlo and Latin Hypercubes.Then, the combinations are analysed, unreasonable combinations are identified, and viable combinations are illustrated.Moreover, the characteristics of the temperature-time curves obtained using the parameter combinations are discussed. Namely, we focus on the temperature evolution, duration of fire, andthe maximum temperature reached.In the second part of the paper, an illustrative example is presented.The example is focused on the analysis of the fire resistance of a concrete slab panel. The panel is placed in a fire compartment with given fire model parameter ranges. In the example, the variability of the fire model parameters is captured using the Latin Hypercubes sampling method.The thermal analysis of the slab panel as well as the subsequent mechanical analysis are both conducted by using numerical methods described in our previous work. The calculations are performed in MATLAB environment.Finally, the obtained results are presented and discussed.It is shown that the Latin Hypercube sampling can be used as an effective tool for the investigation of the effect of fire model parameter variability on the fire resistance.

Foundation of building on concrete piles is often used when it is necessary to carry the load into larger depth as by common foundation. Bearing capacity of piles or piled raft foundation is wide area to research. This paper deals with experimental load test of concrete pile and with their numerical modelling. Several types of foundation construction were tested and two kinds will be presented and compared in this paper - reinforced concrete foundation slab and raft foundation (made of reinforced concrete foundation slab supported by drilled reinforced concrete pilot). These types of foundation constructions were constructed as models, in a reduced scale, approx. 1:10. The size had to be adjusted due to limited capacity of the testing equipment and financial reasons. Except measuring of the foundation behaviour, there was also carried out measurement of the adjacent terrain.The aim of this paper is to compare the behaviour of rigid slab and the piled raft. The measurement results will be then compared with the results of numerical modelling.

In the early 1980’s, the small punch technique was developed in USA and Japan. This technique has been applied to nuclear reactors, electric power plants for safety assessments. European researchers have carried out the pioneer work on SP creep testing in the 1990’s. European Code of Practice (CoP) documents have become available in 2006, which provides a guide line to perform small punch tests for metallic materials, and introduces methods for estimation of tensile properties, fracture toughness and creep properties. Since then several conferences and symposiums have been held to exchange ideas and experiences, and several efforts have been made to improve the approaches for interpreting the material properties from test results. However, due to the complexity of the small punch test itself and lack of systematic test data for verification, especially in the creep region, up to now there is no common acceptable method to interpret creep properties. This paper discusses some of the problems commonly encountered in the small punch creep test (SPCT) analysis, such as the uniqueness in reverse creep analysis for identification of material parameters, how to consider effects of large deformation and strain hardening, how to separate deflection into a part caused by loading and a part caused by creep, and how to estimate the elastic-plastic properties of a material in the creep temperature region. Based on these considerations, several existing approaches for interpreting creep properties have been re-evaluated. In addition, a software package, based on the optimization toolbox of Matlab has been developed for identification of material parameters automatically. Verifications are performed by checking the agreement between properties derived by small punch test and uni-axial tests. Discussions on problems of existing approaches and how to improve them further, are described in the paper. Experimental data are provided by JRC Petten, Netherlands, and Henan Electric Power Research Institute, China. Recently a working group led by JRC Petten is engaged in upgrading the CoP to a European standard. It is expected that in the future more data will become available for further verification.

Recent studies in the field of Structural Health Monitoring SHM using nondestructive test NDT have shown promising applications for parameter estimation methods based on finite element FE models of bridge structures. Using measurements data, carried out during the experiment on real bridge structures, in situ, one can estimate the structural parameters of the bridge. These parameters can be used further in the process of model updating, model verification, structural evaluation and damage assessment. This paper aims to determine the structural parameters using the PARIS approach from a simulated FE model of a real bridge structure subjected to a typical bridge damage scenario. The MATLAB computer based program, entitled PARIS PARmeter Identification System used for the study case illustrated in this paper is applied for the Finite Element FE model updating of a reinforced concrete bridge, located in Iași municipality. PARIS software takes advantage of the Application Programming Interface API of a standalone structural computing software allowing to perform the necessary computational steps for the model updating process. In the same time the application of this software, recently developed by Prof. Masoud Sanayei permits the use of static and modal measurements, as input data, for the estimation of stiffness and mass parameters at the element level of the bridge. The obtained results of the updated model are useful in the process of further validation of a simulated damage test data. Finally, the results based on FE model parameter estimation can be useful for the structural health monitoring and condition assessment process of the bridge structure.

Most of the product design on the market is variant design or adaptive design, which need to reuse existing product design knowledge. A key aspect of reusing existing CAD model is correctly define and understand the design intents behind of existing CAD model, and this paper introduces a CAD model annotation system based on design intent. Design intents contained all design information of entire life cycle from modeling, analysis to manufacturing are marked onto the CAD model using PMI module in UG to improve the readability of the CAD model. Second, given the problems such as management difficulties, no filter and retrieval functions, this paper proposes an annotation manager system based on UG redevelopment by filtration, retrieval, grouping and other functions to reduce clutter on the 3D annotations and be convenient for users to view needed all kinds of annotations. Finally, design information is represented both internally within the 3D model and externally on a XML file.

An increasing number of companies establish energy management systems for continuous improvement in their energy efficiency and for this intensify monitoring their current energy consumption. These data can be used to gain further information about the production and to find potentials to increase its energy efficiency. In the procurement process of machinery and equipment or in the planning phase of production systems and building services, information about energy demand is rarely available, though it would be valuable for an early inclusion of energy efficiency in these processes. Therefore this paper discusses different forecast methods for energy consumption of machinery and evaluates in particular their universal applicability, effort and accuracy by analyzing them through the example of a packaging machine. In addition this paper proposes a further usage of energy-related data of machinery, which can be automatically acquired by monitoring systems for prognosticating their energy consumption as well as a possible distribution approach of this information. Therefore an own forecast method is presented, which shall process the energy-related data combined with information about dominant parameters of the product, the usage of the machine and the environmental conditions. For the distribution concept it was taken into account that the generated and shared information has to be abstracted in a way that no critical secrets of the company are revealed.

The analysis and implementation of this paper is applied to a real game boxing machine. The contents of this game boxing machine are consists of three parts that are the UNITY, programming and hardware development. Therefore, in order to have RPG role-play boxing game inside of real game boxing machine, this paper firstly analyzes user requirement and then implement the combined-use in the traditional large boxing machines that will let the players to face the need considering how to fight the contents of RPG role-play boxing game. Moreover, in order to save more time to make 3D animations, motion capture equipment is used called MOCAP to generate characteristics, hero, monsters, and beautiful girls. All body movements of characteristics inside of game boxing machine captured by MOCAP are tied to the body of the head, limbs and torso. Furthermore, those body movements will PhaseSpace to our servers via the Internet passing out after the signal processing MotionBuilder software for recording and output operation. The output file can be transformed into the skeleton and action graphic model and using MAYA software can also do the same way. All procedures in this RPG role-play boxing game design have been successfully interacted both machine side and play side with fun and game new life, and to integrate the actual situation of the game for the future.

The present paper describes the activities carried out at Chieti-Pescara University after the 2009 L'Aquila Earthquake. The activities are multidisciplinary and have involved both engineers (structural and industrial) and architects (urban planner and specialist in historical buildings). The goal was to obtain a comprehensive approach to old towns reconstruction. This activity is particularly important to minimize the earthquake consequences.Two peculiar aspects of the work are selected among other ones and presented within this paper. The first one is: how reliable are speedy in-situ surveys, in order to evaluate post-earthquake damages and building occupancy? Considering that both people safety and reconstruction funding depend on this judgment, it is important to check the procedure reliability. The second aspect is the analysis of an old urban center, viewed as a system of fragile components. System components are both material (e.g. a particular building) and immaterial (e.g. availability of the road system), and have been selected to maximize inhabitants safety, above all in terms of first aid to injured people and in terms of efficiency of strategic structures and infrastructures. These considerations are being slowly introduced in the Seismic Italian Code.

The basic notion underlying urban underground development is that underground space is a non-renewable resource, therefore planning its use must be done in a sustainable, environmentally-responsible manner with due account taken of economic, functional, social, and legal aspects. This paper addresses issues related to the planning, siting, design, construction, operation and maintenance of underground structures in the city of Moscow. The mechanism of the interaction between an underground structure and the surrounding rock masses is described. It is shown that underground engineering can be significantly enhanced through the use of expert systems. The paper also discusses the need for changes to the legal framework for the use of urban underground space.

The comparison of different approaches will help to determine more precisely which correlation analysis is better for assessing input and output data. In this paper we introduce several correlation principles which can help to select the most suitable correlation approach. We present a traditional correlation analysis and compare it with Pearson and Spearman correlation coefficients. Presentation by means of formal ontology model provides a uniquely interpreted terms. Based on the model of ontology the intelligent system will integrate their knowledge and information components of all sections of the data area. The paper considers the unification of nanomaterials subdomain with other subdomains that are need to be used for intelligent system for nanotechnology. The paper also proposes mathematical ontology model of one of the component - that is ontology model of foams and emulsions class.

Information management systems become more common and more important in all walks of life. Many serious problems such as multi-source information heterogeneity, mass redundant data, and data security occur in the systems as the explosive increment of data. A novel redundant data deleting algorithm based on the cloud storage platform was proposed in this paper to deal with the problem of mess data storing. Storage space division algorithm and different users were divided in an appropriate way to improve the efficiency of reading and writing. A typical information management system was used to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the algorithms proposed in this paper.

This paper presents the design and construction of a haptic device. This device aims to generate a tactile feedback to the user. The feedback is generated when the user has contact with virtual limits (through a graphical interfaces or electronic cards). These limits could be due to speeding or recklessness from the pilot under conditions of low visibility or turbulence. The paper begin with the design of the lever-shaped cam which has two Degree of Freedom (DOF). It proceeds with the kinematic analysis to obtain the work area. As of workspace is possible to determine the contact point with the geometry of the virtual object. In this event the user will have a tactile feedback, a force or vibration. This force must be minimal, to prevent injury to the user.

Particularly the first part of the paper contains brief introduction, description of methods of analysis and simulation software. Information about verification of corresponding computational models is presented as well.

Nowadays the world of manufacturing and production has been encountered with a constantly changing behavior’s of customers. Moreover in the global market, a company can survive if it has the efficient capabilities for rapid product development.These capabilities are known to be important and they mainly affect on the market penetration and cost reduction. One way to enhance such capabilities is to integrate the essential activities of a manufacturing with the help of information technology. In recent years, the researchers have proposed integration of the computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacture (CAM) and computer-aided process planning (CAPP) as the main phases of product development lifecycle. These phases play an important role in the manufacturing environment and their integration will result in high-class production with minimum lead time. This paper focuses on the die design and process planning activities to produce the molds seamlessly . It studies the recent works on integration solutions and proposes an integration framework for glass bottle manufacturing companies.The paper considers the integration of the part design, macro process planning and the mold design activities. Moreover, the solution has used the ISO 10303 (STEP standard-International Standard for the Exchange of Product data). The novel aspects of the framework have been discussed through a case study. The case study highlights the integration of glass bottle design, process planning and bottle mold design to show the capabilities of the proposed framework.

The increasing complexity of software systems is making source code analysis a more economic option to automate the identification of defects, vulnerabilities and inefficiencies. This paper initially outlines the general anatomy of automatic source code analyzers, dimensions of analysis that can be performed with today’s state-of-the-art tools, various limitations of automatic source code analysis in the areas of programming language coverage, quantity of false positive claims, system architecture breakdowns and code/time complexity. The paper is concluded by presenting future tentative trends of source code analysis.

The paper presents a method developed and used by the CCHAPT researchers for the graphic plotting of the index tests results for hydraulic turbines, the comparison of the efficiency curves resulted from testing to those obtained by the model transposition [1] i.e. the determination and comparison of the existing combinatory cam with that obtained from tests.The method presented in the paper was born from the need for processing and presenting the results of index tests within the shortest delay and eliminating the errors that might occur in the results plotting.

The paper deals with quadrocopter stability in vertical axis. At first, dynamic model of quadrocopter is introduced. In the paper are derived relations for control error in steady state for PD and PID controller. Based on dynamic model the PID controller is designed by optimizing method. Using designed controller the quadrocopter stability in vertical axis was simulated in software Matlab. In the conclusion the results of the simulation are shown.

The paper deals with stepper motor control using microcontroller ATmega8-16PU. In the paper are mentioned two ways of control, namely full-step mode and half-step mode control. At first, bipolar stepper motor is introduced. Next, there is created measuring stand consisting of bipolar stepper motor with one step angle 1.8° and encoder with 360 CPR. During the experiment were measured angular velocities by I/O measuring card MF624 cooperating with Matlab/Simulink. The results show differences between used two stepping modes of motor.

The paper deals with a description of the creation of CAD model (file format .IGES) based on polygon mesh (file format .STL) obtained by 3D scanning. On the basis of the imported polygon mesh into Reverse Engineering software, it is possible to create surface (or solid) CAD model. For CAD model created from a polygon mesh, a model of screw propeller was chosen. The paper also presents a color deviation map acquired by comparison between a polygon mesh and a CAD model. The 3D digitizing was performed by 3D scanner GOM ATOS II SO TripleScan; GOM ATOS Professional v7.5 SR2 software was used for processing of the scanned data and Delcam PowerSHAPE 2015 CAD software was used for reverse modeling.

This paper presents a case study both for individual process improvements and also for the improvement of the overall manufacturing flow, within an SME, using specialized simulation software called SigmaFlow Modeler. The improvements are done based on simulation results (accurate knowledge), meaning that by analyzing the process distribution charts, one can dispose measures for solving problems or even preventing potential failures. It has to be noted that by eliminating those bottlenecks the overall performance of the process will increase and the manufacturing flow will also be enhanced. The paper will also present an actual process simulation for the most complex process from the manufacturing cycle, i.e. the milling process, and a short analysis, focusing on possible improvements, will be performed on it. Moreover, further improvements will be done by closely reviewing and identifying every input and output and by introducing them into a cause-and-effect matrix, the importance of each input can be mathematically calculated and action can be taken for the critical ones in order to improve the process.

This paper is aimed at developing the system assisting an orthotics specialist during correction process of orthoses structure. Orthotics is a specialty within medical field increasingly progressing in terms of variety of offered services, equipment and materials used. Further mentioned in this paper is the usage of optical scanning, depending on making series of photos in split second and then assembling then into 3D model, thus eliminating drawbacks of the classical methods based on the plaster cast preparation. The objective of such computer aided design is evaluation of the influence of prostheses shape modifications on their features.

This paper presents the design and analysis of new proposed topology micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) inductor. This new symmetric MEMS inductor is designed to reduce the total length of the conductor strip and hence reduce the resistance of the metal tracks. This results significant increases in the quality (Q) factor of the inductor. In this paper, the MEMS inductor is designed using CoventorWare®, which is powerful software for MEMS computer aided design (CAD), modeling and simulation. Results indicate that new symmetric inductor topology has thehighest Q-factor and it hasbeenimproved bytwo times compared to circular inductor. The analysis revealed that area of the symmetric inductor has reduced by37.5% compared to the circular inductor. Result has proved that the reduction of length of the conductor strip has reduced the resistance of the metal tracks and results in a high Q-factor inductor.

The paper presents a methodology for designing a fuzzy model for the middle section of a continuous processing line for tension processing of various materials (sheet metal, tubes, foil, etc.), which is only described by input/output relations. The measured input/output data of the continuous line are the basis for creating its fuzzy model, which can be further applied in the design of a suitable controller and the verification of its properties by simulation. The first part of the paper describes the procedure of the fuzzy model construction; the second part presents the application of the model in the system of the middle section of a continuous processing line. The fuzzy model structure is based on the state space representation of the dynamic system in discrete form. The properties of the fuzzy model were verified by numerical simulation in Matlab. The obtained results have confirmed the rightness of the design method and its applicability to dynamic systems with multiple inputs and outputs.

The effectiveness of egress paths from a building could be attributed to good signage or intuitive Architecture but we know it is also influenced by human behaviour in fire. The extent to which human behaviour plays a role in the effectiveness of egress routes is not yet fully understood.The aim of this paper is to investigate human behaviour in a relatively simple study of exit choice. The study is conducted in a virtual environment by examining the effectiveness of additional floor-based chevron arrows when compared with conventional exit signage on the same escape routes.Fifty nine participants were asked to interact with the software to escape from a fire in the created virtual environment. Thirty two of the participants used a model with conventional exit signs only. Twenty seven of the participants used the model with exit signs and chevrons on the floor. After completing the virtual egress exercise the participants were given a questionnaire to help understand their behaviour during the task. This allowed the authors to compare results of the post experiment questionnaire with the video output of the test.This research is novel in that involves the use of already existing technologies for new purposes; in this case, commercial computer games engines, generally used for entertainment purposes. As technology reaches new levels it is inevitable that there will be overlap in functionality.This paper describes the experiments, analyses the information gleaned from the research and provides some conclusions for consideration by others in this field. By assessing exit choice behaviour and evacuation time it is possible to compare the effectiveness of the additional floor based signage as a fire protection measure provided above and beyond normal code requirements.

In this paper, we present a new knowledge push technology for complex mechatronic products design based on ontology and variable precision rough set (VPRS). Ontology can explicitly represent knowledge semantics and let designers exchange knowledge about design and the product development process; while using the knowledge reduction method based on the VPRS method, the design knowledge repository is simplified and design rules also be distilled from the reduct design knowledge repository. On the basis of the above approach, multiple designers can efficiently share design knowledge and can obtain appropriate design knowledge during all design processes. Finally, a case is employed to validate the proposed method of this paper.

The following paper presents an IT tool for aiding assessment of a safety culture level in an organization in a form of an application, providing fast and easy way to analyze data obtained from questionnaires. Traditional data analysis often turns out to be time-consuming and labor-intensive. To make the process faster, more detailed and to find all the possible links among all the available data there is a need for an IT tool. The presented application has been developed with publicly available and completely free tools and technologies. It is a complete piece of software, fully flexible which can be modified or equipped with new functions (modules). The presented solution eliminates the time consuming process of “copying” data from paper questionnaires, and allows to get information about the safety culture level right after adding a questionnaire to a questionnaire database. The presented tool can function as a mobile questionnaire which can be used in any place with Internet access and to fill it in only a browser is required.

The paper is dedicated to analyze the modern expert systems to assess the technical condition of power stations and substations high-voltage equipment. The main problems of modern expert systems and their possible solutions are determined. As the structure and their basic construction principles are considered. Also this paper proposes an algorithm for the expert system model using fuzzy inference on the basis of technical diagnostics and tests. As a case study of assessment of power transformers state based on dissolved gas analysis in the oil is presented.

The inverted pendulum system is a challenging control problem in the control theory, which continually moves away from a stable state. The paper presents the design of a Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller for a single-input multi-output (SIMO) inverted pendulum system and using the Bees Algorithm (BA) to obtain optimal gains for PID controllers. The Bees Algorithm optimizes the gains so that the controller can move the cart to a desired position with the minimum amount of the change in the pendulum’s angle from the vertically upright position during the movement. The tuning aim is to minimize the control responses of the cart’s position and the pendulum’s angle in time domain. MATLAB/Simulink simulation has been performed to demonstrate that the effects on the system performance of PID controllers with optimal gains. The obtained results show that the tuning method by using the Bees Algorithm produced PID controllers successfully within the controller design criteria. Following a description of the inverted pendulum system and the Bees Algorithm, the paper gives the obtained simulation results for the system demonstrating the efficiency of the design.

This paper presents a new approach for designing the Power System Stabilizer. As in power system network, low frequency oscillation always occurs for a long period of time that will decrease the power transfer capability. Power System Stabilizer known as PSS is being installed as one of the control devices in a generating unit. The conventional PSS (CPSS) is the most commonly used in power system, which uses lead-lag compensation. The lack in CPSS has drawn an interest of designing the new approach of PSS to outperform the conventional one. Thus, Bees Algorithm (BA) which is known as one of the numerous intelligent optimization methods is proposed in this paper. It is appears to aid the system stability by optimizing the PSS parameters tuning. The PSS with the BA approach is labelled as BA-PSS and being tested on single machine infinite bus system (SMIB) in Matlab/Simulink environment. BA-PSS performance is compared with CPSS as to validate the ability of the proposed method to achieve great performance in power system stability enhancement. Different type of mechanical input is being injected into the system and the result shows that BA-PSS is capable to optimize the parameters tuning of PSS. BA-PSS also improved the unstable or poorly stable modes as the system achieve the stability with lower overshoot and less time settling. The superior response of BA-PSS controller proved the ability of BA approach in which is capable to solve the lack in CPSS with better performance in enhancing the system stability.

The article presents a developed orginal model designed to increase the efficiency of the processes of the design of adaptive image analysis methods used for detection of surface defects in materials. The model was created as part of activities related to the Strategic Program – Specialized knowledge bases and expert systems for the simulation of complex processes. The methods presented in this paper make it possible to accelerate design process, including testing of algorithms developed for a wide range of surface defects, such as: cracks, discoloration, loss of materials, geometric distortion, or even the presence of defect agglomerations caused by corrosion, without the need for the acquisition of the physical image of the actual objects. This in many cases can be a significant problem for engineers who design automatic optical inspection systems, because the acquisition of test objects with specified defects which are characterized by a fixed range of values of selected parameters is not always possible. This paper presents a formal model designed to generate material defects on the surface of three-dimensional virtual objects, which is equivalent to the acquisition of actual data from vision systems. The model takes into account various surface characteristics such as their texture or roughness by using mapping by the Blinn method. The results of the use of the system developed for the classification of products represented in digital images for which image analysis algorithms have been based on so-called artificial intelligence in the form of dedicated neural networks are presented. As described in this paper, artificial neural networks are an example of adaptive models, and provide the ability to solve problems for which there are no deterministic models. The models, however, require the use of learning processes (training) with the use of extensive data sets, which in this case were generated with the use of the developed solution model.

The function of the fan is to reduce heat in the radiator where hot cooling liquid is circulated. The radiator fan blades are made up of various materials nowadays and the legacy material used is steel. This paper presents the static analysis of the radiator fan and at the outcome we analyze the failure of the entire blade taking into design consideration. The analysis of the radiator fan is executed to different types of materials to check and evaluate the material and process conditions which withstand the dynamic and structural loads. In the paper design of the blade is done through reverse engineering. The static analysis is done using ANSYS where the 3D solid model of the radiator fan is considered for structural analysis. The various loads and properties and applied through the entire length of the radiator fan. The analysis leads us to proposal of suitable material to withstand all the loads. The Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) material is tested and considered.

Power delivered to consumer from utilities is susceptible to power quality problems. The most common power quality problems are voltage sag. Modern equipment nowadays are prone to problems associated with voltage sag. Such problems can be apprehended by several mitigation methods. This paper will discuss voltage sag mitigation method by eliminating the injection transformer in ordinary Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) and applying Single Phase Matrix Converter (SPMC) in a single phase DVR topologies. The objective of this paper is to investigate the potential mitigation method without the injection transformer in the DVR topology. DVR circuit will be constructed and simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK software. It is hoped that the result of this work will provide a simpler mitigation technique where existing DVR topology can be constructed with less component that provides unnecessary losses in the DVR itself.IndexTerms—Injection Transformer, DVR, SPMC, MATLAB/SIMULINK.

Machining has traditionally been one of the major operations within most manufacturing systems and intelligent machining will play an important role in feature manufacturing systems. This paper concerns the machine learning, specifically classification and recognition of cutting conditions in drilling process. Awareness of the cutting conditions can enhance the auto-diagnosis of an intelligent machining system. In this paper, features representing the drilling process are generated from the converted forms of thrust force and torque and extracted with wavelet packet transform (WPT) and then selected by principal component analysis (PCA). Data instances are generated from experiments with different cutting conditions including workpiece material, drill diameter, feed rate, and spindle speed. A feed-forward network trained with back-propagation method (BPNN) is applied to distinguish between the patterns of each cutting condition. The different contributions of features and the recognition results of cutting conditions are discussed.

This paper proposes a novel anytime fuzzy supervisory expert system for online signal processing. We demonstrate via simulations that this system is able to follow slowly varying signals and heal the signal in case of missing input data. In the presence of contaminating noise, the supervisory system performs the automatic wavelet shrinkage procedure selection, which ensures to pick the proper algorithm that is the most efficient in the given scenario. The necessary level of wavelet decomposition is determined online by the fuzzy supervisory expert. The system applies orthogonal wavelet functions in order to reduce significantly the processing time of reconstruction. The paper also shows how the online threshold estimator selection module ensures the highest denoising efficiency by selecting the most suitable algorithm.

In this paper, a solution for the automatic control of a chemical exchange process carbon dioxide (CO2) – carbamate for the 13C isotope enrichment, is presented. The main original achievement from the paper is the inclusion of the previously mentioned non-linear technological process in a control structure. The design of the automatic control structure of the 13C isotope concentration is based on the Internal Model Control (IMC) strategy. The implementation details of all the elements from the structure of the proposed control system, in MATLAB/SIMULINK, are presented. Also, some relevant simulations of the automatic control structure are presented.

ISO 14649 standard, commonly recognized as STEP-NC is a data model interface for computer numerical controllers. STEP-NC goes much further that G codes and has a more comprehensive data model that overcomes the lack of process information in ISO 6983 files (G codes programming). The STEP compliant approach brings the possibility to integrate the machine controller to the overall enterprise information network, with the intention of having bi-directional data flow. This will provide the novel capability for upstream feedback of information from the numerical controller to the design and process areas in the process planning and manufacturing. This paper presents the key concepts of the proposed STEP Convertor of the STEP-CNC Mapping System. The objective of the main system is to take a generic STEP file as the input to drive a CNC machine tool. The main system is broken down into two main sub-systems, STEP Convertor and STEP-NC Translator. This paper will focus solely on the information structure and conceptualization of the STEP Convertor.

The present paper aims to give a review about the storage systems architecture, systematize the various types of connection, and present the significance of virtualization. Based on industry specific literature and on own research, the present paper sets up a clear systematization of these techniques by providing a brief summary of their essence, while also providing examples of their application in different network storages. The present article also provides an insight into the topic of the different connecting types of network systems, while highlighting the importance of virtualization and application of the iSCSI technology. After the explanation of the challenge of redundancies in storage systems, the author outlines the importance of using RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) technology for handling the issue of redundancy

As organic transistors are preparing to make improvements towards flexible and low cost electronics applications, the analytical models and simulation methods were demanded to predict the optimized performance and circuit design. In this paper, we investigated the analytical model of an organic transistor device and simulate the output and transfer characteristics of the device using MATLAB tools for different channel length (L) of the organic transistor. In the simulation, the Pool-Frenkel mobility model was used to represent the conductive channel of organic transistor. The different channel length has been simulated with the value of 50 μm, 10 μm and 5 μm. This research paper analyses the performance of organic thin film transistor (TFT) for top contact bottom gate device. From the simulation, drain current of organic transistor was increased as the channel length decreased. Other extraction value such sub-threshold and current on/off ratio is 0.41 V and 21.1 respectively. Thus, the simulation provides significant extraction of information about the behaviour of the organic thin film transistor.

In this paper, a mechanical design oriented Python program development system was created to assist engineers to manage their programming assets more efficiently. This cloud-based platform includes a content management system and Python-in-browser IDE (Integrated Development Environment). The motivation of this research is to allow mechanical designers to store their programs and design data locally and remotely in synchronous. This paper introduces the basic concept of the platform, architecture, installation and utilization, and the advantages that can be achieved by using this platform. This platform is released under the GPL V3 license.

This paper proposes a storage-independent model for SPARQL-to-SQL translation algorithm based on relational view. During the development of Web ontology researches, the study for translation from SPARQL to SQL still remain issue. Previous researches focus on efficient and complete translation from SPARQL queries into equivalent SQL queries. However, these translation algorithms depend on specific structure of storages. When we modify the structure of storage, the translation algorithm also should be modified suitable changed structure of storage. This motivates us to study the issue of a model for independent use upon storage structures of an algorithm, which can then be guaranteed independency between translation algorithms and storages by generating relational view, and it improves application and usability of a translation algorithm. In addition, this paper show experiment result about accuracy and no data loss rate of query results on several storages.
