This article discusses the case of a 48-year-old male patient with Crohn's disease and short bowel syndrome who experienced recurrent tetany. The patient had a history of gastric ulcer perforation and small intestine perforation, which required ileostomy formation. The patient presented with symptoms such as motor aphasia, diplopia, weakness in the lower extremities, and joint pain. Laboratory tests revealed electrolyte imbalances, including severe hypocalcemia, hypomagnesemia, and hyperphosphatemia. The patient was treated with medication, electrolyte supplementation, and antibiotics, which resulted in improved symptoms. The article highlights the various metabolic symptoms that can occur in patients with Crohn's disease. [Extracted from the article]
