To assess the cultural competence (CC) of GP trainees and GP trainers. Design and setting: A cross-sectional survey study was conducted at the GP Training Institute of Amsterdam UMC. We included 92 GP trainees and 186 GP trainers. We measured the three domains of cultural competency: 1) knowledge, 2) culturally competent attitudes and 3) culturally competent skills. Regression models were used to identify factors associated with levels of CC. Participants rated their self-perceived CC at the beginning and end of the survey, and the correlation between self-perceived and measured CC was assessed. Approximately 94% of the GP trainees and 81% of the GP trainers scored low on knowledge; 45% and 42%, respectively, scored low on culturally competent attitudes. The level of culturally competent skills was moderate (54.3%) or low (48.4%) for most GP trainees and GP trainers. The year of residency and the GP training institute were significantly associated with one or more (sub-)domains of CC in GP trainees. Having >10% migrant patients and experience as a GP trainer were positively associated with one or more (sub-) domains of cultural competence in GP trainers. The correlation between measured and self-perceived CC was positive overall but very weak (Spearman correlation coefficient ranging from −0.1–0.3). The level of cultural competence was low in both groups, especially in the knowledge scores. Cultural competence increased with experience and exposure to an ethnically diverse patient population. Our study highlights the need for cultural competence training in the GP training curricula. General practitioner (GP) trainees find cross-cultural consultations stressful due to a self-perceived lack of cultural competence (CC). The level of CC in general practice is as yet unknown. On average, the level of CC was low for the majority of GP trainees and GP trainers, especially for the scores on knowledge. To investigate the effect of mobilization with movement (MWM) on pulmonary functions in subjects with thoracic hyperkyphosis. This randomized single-blinded controlled trial included a sample of 50 subjects (age 18 − 25 years old) with thoracic hyperkyphosis. Subjects were randomly allocated into two groups; the Real MWM group (n = 25) which received thoracic MWM plus standard postural correction exercises, and the Sham MWM group (n = 25) which received sham MWM plus standard postural correction exercises. Digital X-ray and handheld spirometer were used to measure selected pulmonary function tests (FVC, FEV1/FVC ratio, MVV) respectively. Within-group comparisons demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in all outcome measures in both groups. The between-group comparisons demonstrated significant improvement in the MWM compared to the Sham group regarding the value of FVC, FEV1/FVC ratio, and MVV (P <.05). In young adults with thoracic hyperkyphosis, MWM plus postural exercise produces better improvements in FVC, FEV1, FEV1/FVC, and MVV compared to sham MWM plus postural exercise. Current evidence supports the inclusion of directional preference exercises for a subgroup of patients with low back (LBP) and leg pain. Recent pain neuroscience strategies have suggested that cortical restructuring associated with movement activating the body map representation in the brain might account for the observed improvement with the directional preference approach. To explore whether or not a motor imagery directional preference approach would result in any changes in patients with LBP and leg pain. A consecutive convenience sample of patients with LBP and leg pain were recruited at two outpatient physical therapy clinics. Measurements of LBP, leg pain, fear-avoidance beliefs (FABQ), pain catastrophizing (PCS), active lumbar flexion, and straight leg raise (SLR) were compared before and immediately after a virtual (motor imagery) directional preference exercise. Statistically significant differences for LBP, FABQ, PCS, active lumbar flexion, and SLR were observed, but only SLR changes met or exceeded the minimally clinically important difference (MCID). A brief virtual motor imagery extension treatment yielded some immediate positive shifts in patients presenting to physical therapy with LBP and leg pain. Our results indicate that randomized comparison trials are needed to determine the effect of this intervention on the short- and longer-term outcomes in patients with LBP and leg pain. The SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic has led to increased food insecurity levels. This cross-sectional study examines the prevalence and determinants of food insecurity during the two-month (1 April to 1 June 2022) city-wide lockdown in Shanghai. The data was collected via an online questionnaire from 3230 adult Shanghai residents during the lockdown. Food insecurity was measured using an adapted version of the Household Food Insecurity Access Scale. Nearly 70% of participants reported being exposed to food insecurity. Using multivariable logistic regressions, we examined the associations between key correlates (i.e. age, income, lockdown-related income loss, migration, employment status, social capital, preparedness, and received social support) and overall food insecurity while adjusting for ethnicity, gender, education, household size, and marital status. Results showed that compared to local Shanghai residents, migrants (i.e, permanent migrants with Hukou (OR = 2.16), permanent migrants without Hukou (OR = 2.06), temporary migrants (OR = 2.74)), and participants with less than or greather than 50% lockdown-related income loss (OR = 2.60, OR = 3.09), were associated with higher odds of overall food insecurity. Participants with greater preparedness (OR = 0.66), greater bonding social capital (OR = 0.93), and greater bridging social capital (OR = 0.94), had lower odds of overall food insecurity. Purpose: Research suggests social support may protect sexual minorities from the harmful effects of victimization that undermine mental and sexual health wellness; however, this relationship has been underexplored among a diverse youth population. We examined the association between lifetime homonegative victimization, perceived stress in the last month, and resilience factors among a diverse sample of adolescent sexual minority males. Methods: Data were collected between June 2018 and April 2020 as part of the MyPEEPS Mobile study, a multi-site randomized controlled trial evaluating the effectiveness of a mobile behavioral HIV prevention intervention for adolescents living in the U.S. We analyzed baseline survey data from 542 sexual minority males, aged 13–18 years. We used bivariate analyses to examine relationships among variables and multivariable linear regression models to determine if resilience factors attenuated the association between homonegative victimization and perceived stress. Results: Perceived stress was positively associated with younger age, internalized homophobia, experiencing verbal victimization, threats of being outed, and threats of physical violence. Relying on online friends for support and having good family relations both attenuated the relationship between verbal victimization and perceived stress. However, neither of these resilience factors significantly weakened the associations between perceived stress, threats of physical violence, and being outed. Conclusion: Resilience factors, including peer and family support, may play an attenuating role in the relationship between homonegative victimization and perceived stress among adolescent sexual minority males. Non-binary and genderqueer (NBGQ) individuals do not identify with a binary gender identity. Some but not all NBGQ individuals identify as transgender, and it is currently unclear on which aspects of mental and sexual well-being NBGQ and binary transgender individuals may differ. To compare NBGQ, binary transgender and cisgender individuals on variables related to mental well-being, sexual well-being, and sexual self-concept discrepancies. We conducted an online questionnaire study in 125 transgender men, 72 transgender women, 78 NBGQ individuals, 98 cisgender men, and 107 cisgender women. For most variables, NBGQ individuals did not differ from binary transgender individuals. These two groups differed only on gender dysphoria and transgender specific body image worries, which were both lower in the NBGQ group. Compared to the cisgender group, NBGQ individuals scored higher on gender dysphoria, actual/ought sexual self-concept discrepancies, and actual/ideal sexual self-concept discrepancies, and lower on general life satisfaction and sexual esteem related to body perception. These results offer a first quantitative analysis of sexual well-being in NBGQ individuals, and highlight that – while both groups face unique challenges – NBGQ individuals encounter similar difficulties concerning mental and sexual well-being as binary transgender individuals. Background: Transgender women of Color experience disproportionate rates of HIV, depression, and anxiety, and high rates of substance use, attempted suicide, and interpersonal verbal, physical, and sexual violence and assault. However, there are few interventions targeting transgender women of Color that address overlapping health and mental health challenges. Aims: There are two aims/research questions: (1) what are the elements of a transgendercentric model for delivering evidence based interventions and practices?, and (2) does Seeking Safety improve substance use and mental health outcomes for transgender women of Color?. Methods: We present a case study of the delivery process of Seeking Safety by Special Service for Groups/Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team (SSG/APAIT), and analyze baseline and three month post program participant data (n = 81). Results: The transgender-centric model of intervention delivery consisted of multiple steps, also integrating the structural disadvantages experienced by transgender women of Color. Comparing baseline and three months after completion showed significant decrease in reported alcohol use, depression, and severe anxiety. Discussion: Transgender-centric approaches may lead to programs that significantly improve co-occurring substance use and mental health for transgender women of Color. We recommend that organizations aiming to existing programs include feedback from members of the communities that the adapted programs aim to help, and in addition, train community members to deliver the programs. The statistical results indicate that Seeking Safety, a trauma-based program with a short program delivery timeline, may show longer term effects on substance use and mental health. We recommend that programs targeting substance use and mental health for transgender women of Color should be combined with services that address disadvantage (i.e., lack of access to housing, income/employment, health care). Background: Prior research suggests transgender individuals with multiple minority statuses experience higher psychological stress compared to their singly disadvantaged counterparts, and both Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), and transgender minorities experience more frequent and severe forms of discrimination than White and cisgender individuals. Aims: This study aims to examine racial/ethnic differences in gender-related discrimination and psychological distress within a sample of transgender individuals. Methods: Using data from a convenience sample of 99 self-identified transgender adults recruited through North American LGBTQ organizations, data were analyzed to determine the relationship between race/ethnicity, gender minority stress, and psychological distress. Results: When White and BIPOC participants are compared, no significant group differences were found in levels of gender discrimination or victimization. However, some individual racial/ethnic groups reported significantly higher or lower scores and results indicate that changes in reported gender minority stress are in fact positively correlated with reported psychological distress. Conclusion: This research highlights that BIPOC are a heterogeneous group; by solely examining race/ethnicity as a binary variable, studies mask potential important differences among different groups. This study compared the modification of musculoarticular stiffness (MAS) and clinical outcomes after mobilization with movement (MWM) on the inferior tibiofibular joint and a placebo MWM. Moreover, injured and non-injured ankle MAS were compared after MWM therapy. A single-blinded randomized trial was conducted on 75 participants (mean age: 22.3 ± 2.17 years) with chronic self-reported asymmetric perception of ankle dorsiflexion stiffness. Participants were allocated to one of three groups: inferior tibiofibular MWM (ITFMWM), placebo and non-injured. Sinusoidal oscillation methods were used for experimental quantification of the MAS and clinical outcomes were assessed using the weight-bearing lunge test (WBLT), pain and stiffness perception. Three assessments were made: one pre-treatment (T0), one after the manual technique (T1) and one after taping (T2). Two-way ANOVA showed no significant differences between the groups and no interaction effect for the outcome measures. However, a significant difference for the time effect (T0-T1-T2) was found in the three groups for WBLT dorsiflexion range of motion (p < 0.001, Cohen's d = 0.21) and stiffness perception (p < 0.001, Cohen's d = 0.54) but the minimal clinically important differences were not reached for either value. The results could not support that a single session of ITFMWM modifies MAS or the clinical outcomes compared to placebo treatment. Furthermore, injured MAS does not differ from non-injured MAS in chronic ankle dorsiflexion stiffness. Objective: When inserting a dry needle laterally into the upper lumbar spine (L1-L3) there is an increased risk of piercing the kidney; therefore, the objective of this study was to determine a zone of safety for practitioners to needle in the upper lumbar spine. Methods: Ten cadavers were screened for inclusion. L1 spinous process was identified and confirmed with ultrasound imaging. A digital caliper was used to measure laterally at 1.5 cm, 2.0 cm, and 2.5 cm. Dry needles were inserted maximally at each point and a binary decision, yes or no, was made to determine if bony contact was made. Needle depth and abdominal width measurements were also recorded. Safety of the dry needling procedure was interpreted as such if bony contact was made by the needle. If bony contact was made, then it was assumed that the needle cannot advance further into pleura or kidney. Results: Forty-four percent of needles did not make bony contact at 2.5 cm lateral of the L1 spinous process, whereas 22% did not make bony contact at 1.5 cm and 2.0 cm. There was a weak to moderate negative correlation between abdominal width measurements and needle depth at 1.5 cm (−0.48) and 2.0 cm (−0.45), and at 2.5 cm (−0.39). Conclusion: A safety zone of needling less than 2.5 cm is likely safe, but needs to be confirmed with future study. Objectives: To evaluate the association of resting blood pressure with pain response and evaluate the cardiovascular effects of anterior-to-posterior [AP] versus lateral [LAT] techniques of cervical spine non-thrust manipulation [NTM]. Methods: Forty-three (23 females) participants with non-chronic neck pain (mean age 29.00 ± SD 9.09 years) randomly received AP or LAT NTM to the cervical spine. Blood pressure and heart rate were measured before, during, and after the intervention. Disability and pain were measured pre- and post-intervention. Results: Resting systolic blood pressure (SBP) was significantly associated with average pain reduction two days later on univariate and multivariate analyses (coefficients −0.029 ± SD 0.013, p = 0.036; −0.026 ± 0.012, p = 0.032). No significant differences existed between AP and LAT NTM groups in disability, pain reduction, and cardiovascular variables. The decrease in 'worst neck pain' rating 2-days post-intervention was clinically significant within the AP (mean −2.43 ± SD 2.66) group. Mixed-effect model ANOVA revealed a significant change in SBP over time (estimate −1.94 ± SD 0.70, p = 0.007). Discussion: This spinal NTM study was the first to relate resting SBP with short-term pain reduction, demonstrating SBP-related hypoalgesia. In normotensive individuals with unilateral non-chronic neck pain, each 10 mmHg higher resting SBP was associated with a 0.29-unit decrease in average pain at follow-up when holding baseline pain constant. AP and LAT NTM equally reduced short-term pain and decreased SBP during-intervention, suggesting SBP-sympathoinhibition. These techniques have previously been shown to be sympatho-excitatory when delivered under different dosage parameters. SBP's mediating and moderating role should be investigated. Objectives: A prospective observational cohort study was conducted to (1) determine the prevalence of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) syndromes for patients with shoulder impairments and (2) report the interaction between MDT classification and clinical outcomes, including pain intensity and disability, at discharge. Methods: Clinical outcome measures were completed at intake and discharge by 115 patients. A two-way mixed model analysis of variance with subsequent pairwise comparisons was done to examine differences in clinical outcomes between the following MDT classifications: Shoulder Derangement, Shoulder Dysfunction, and Other. Results: The primary findings were that (1) 44.3 (35.3, 53.4), 40.0 (31.0, 48.9), and 15.6 (9.0, 22.3) percent of patients' conditions were classified as Shoulder Derangement, Shoulder Dysfunction, and Other, respectively, (2) all groups managed via MDT methods made clinically significant improvements in disability and pain intensity at discharge, (3) a statistically significant difference in pain intensity at discharge was observed between the Shoulder Derangement and the Shoulder Dysfunction classifications (p = 0.01), and (4) patients with the Shoulder Derangement classification were discharged, on average, 35.3 days earlier than the Shoulder Dysfunction classification and 28.3 days earlier than the Other classification. Discussion: This study confirms previous reports that the Shoulder Derangement and Shoulder Dysfunction classifications are common and represent distinct clinical trajectories when assessed and managed via MDT methods. Objectives: Determine whether the achievement of the centralization phenomenon on initial assessment of patients with low back pain (LBP) can be predicted by history and physical examination variables. Methods: Ninety patients referred to physical therapy due to LBP completed pain, disability, and fear-avoidance questionnaires, followed by a complete history and a physical examination based on mechanical diagnosis and therapy principles. Patients were subsequently classified as centralizers or noncentralizers. Univariate, followed by multivariate analysis was performed to identify history and physical examination variables that predicted the occurrence of the CP. Factors retained in the multivariate analysis were used to develop a clinical prediction rule (CPR). Results: Twenty-eight patients (31%) were classified as centralizers immediately following assessment. Three predictors were retained in the multivariate analysis: (1) modified Oswestry Disability Index score lower than 33%; (2) intensity of the most distal symptom lower than 6/10; and (3) back pain equal to or greater than leg pain. The resultant CPR indicated the presence of all three variables increased the post-test likelihood of the CP to 57%. Discussion: The findings of this study suggest the CP may be considerably more likely in less severe cases of LBP characterized by lower disability, lower intensity of distal symptoms, and a greater back-versus-leg pain intensity. Objectives: To investigate the effects of friction massage techniques on the pronator teres muscle on supination range of motion (ROM) and supinator strength in individuals with and without limited supination ROM. Methods: In total, 26 subjects (13 with limited supination ROM and 13 healthy subjects) volunteered to participate in this study. We used a customized wrist cuff. Supination ROM and supinator strength were measured with a 9-axis inertial motion sensor and load cell. The friction massage protocol was executed with the pronator teres muscle in a relaxed position. Then supination ROM and supinator strength were measured again. Results: There was no significant interaction effect on supination ROM, which was significantly greater in the limited supination and control groups. A post hoc t-test revealed that the limited supination group achieved a significantly increased post-test supination ROM (51.7 ± 7.8°) compared to the pre-test value (43.6 ± 5.2°). In addition, the control group achieved a significant increase in post-test supination ROM (67.7 ± 10.0°) compared to the pre-test value (61.4 ± 7.7°). There was no significant interaction effect on supinator strength. Supinator strength was significantly greater in the limited supination and control groups. A post hoc t-test revealed a significant difference in supinator strength between the pre- and post-test values in the limited supination group. Discussion: Friction massage helps restore a limited ROM of the forearm supination motion and immediately increases supinator muscle strength. Introduction: Tests to evaluate the integrity of the alar ligaments are important clinical tools for manual therapists, but there is limited research regarding their validity. Method: A single blinded examiner assessed alar ligament integrity using the lateral shear test (LST), rotation stress test (RST) and side-bending stress test (SBST) on a sample of convenience comprising 7 subjects with MRI confirmed alar ligament lesions and 11 healthy people. Alar ligament lesions were identified using both supine and high-field strength upright MRI. Results: The RST had a sensitivity of 80% and a specificity of 69.2%. The SBST and the LST both showed a sensitivity of 80% and a specificity of 76.9%. In cases where all three tests were positive, the specificity increased to 84.6%. Discussion: Tests of manual examination of alar ligament integrity have some diagnostic utility; however, these findings require further corroboration in a larger sample. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: The flexion rotation test (FRT) is used to determine C1-2 involvement in individuals with neck pain and headaches. Some individuals present with generalized joint hyperlaxity (GJH) which could influence the results of this test, which relies on a soft tissue locking mechanism. The purpose of this study was to examine the side-bend rotation test (SBRT), which utilizes osseous locking, compared to the FRT. Methods: Thirty-eight healthy individuals (25 female, 26.03 years) were assessed for GJH via the Beighton Hypermobility Index (BHI). A blinded examiner performed the FRT and SBRT bilaterally, measuring ROM using a digital goniometer device. Results: Statistically significant differences in ROM were present for the FRT based on negative (0-3) and positive (4-9) BHI score: (Right 46.4±3.6, 49.6±4.8, p=.031), (Left 45.5±3.5, 49.0±5.2, p=.023); no differences were observed for the SBRT (Right 37.6±4.3, 38.9±3.4), (Left 37.7±4.2, 37.6±3.4).  When further stratifying the groups, a one-way ANOVA and post-hoc testing revealed significant differences of FRT range of motion between the BHI 7-9 group(52.4 ± 4.4 −53.9 ± 3.4) compared to BHI 0-3 (45.4 ± 3.6-46.2 ± 3.5) and 4-6 groups (46.0 ± 3.7-46.4 ± 2.2), p < .001; there were no significant differences between the 0-3 and 4-6 groups. There were no between group differences for the SBRT, BHI 0-3 (37.5 ± 4.4-37.7 ± 4.3), BHI 7-9 (39.9 ± 3.7-39.2 ± 3.5). Discussion: Individuals with GJH demonstrated significant differences in ROM for the FRT, but not the SBRT. The SBRT may be a useful alternative to the FRT for individuals with hyperlaxity. Objectives: To investigate differences in pressure pain thresholds (PPTs) and longitudinal mechanosensitivity of the greater occipital nerve (GON) between patients with side-dominant head and neck pain (SDHNP) and healthy controls. Evaluation of neural sensitivity is not a standard procedure in the physical examination of headache patients but may influence treatment decisions. Methods: Two blinded investigators evaluated PPTs on two different locations bilaterally over the GON as well as the occipitalis longsitting-slump (OLSS) in subjects with SDHNP (n = 38)) and healthy controls (n = 38). Results: Pressure pain sensitivity of the GON was lower at the occiput in patients compared to controls (p = 0.001). Differences in pressure sensitivity of the GON at the nucheal line, or between the dominant headache side and the non-dominant side were not found (p > 0.05). The OLSS showed significant higher pain intensity in SDHNP (p < 0.001). In comparison to the non-dominant side, the dominant side was significantly more sensitive (p = 0.004). Discussion: Palpation of the GON at the occiput and the OLSS may be potentially relevant tests in SDHNP. One explanation for an increased bilateral sensitivity may be sensitization mechanisms. Objective:This study aims to describe the determinants related to gender differences in the GP utilization in Danish population aged 50–65 years. Design:Cohort-based cross-sectional study. Setting:Danish general practice. Subjects:Totally, 54,849 participants of the Danish Diet, Cancer and Health cohort (50–65 years). Main outcome measures:The sum of cohort members’ face-to-face consultations with general practitioner (GP) at the cohort baseline year (1993–1997). We obtained data on GP visits from the Danish National Health Service Register at the cohort baseline (1993–1997), when information on lifestyle (smoking, body mass index (BMI), alcohol use, physical activity), medical conditions (somatic and mental), employment, education, gravidity, and hormone therapy (HT) use was collected by questionnaire. Results:Women had on average 4.1 and men 2.8 consultations per year. In a crude model, women had 47% higher rate of GP visits than men (incidence rate ratio: 1.47; 95% Confidence Interval: 1.45–1.50), which remained unchanged after adjustment for lifestyle, socio-demographic and medical factors, but attenuated to 18% (1.18; 1.13–1.24) after adjustment for female factors (gravidity and post-menopausal HT. In a fully adjusted model, subjects with hypertension (1.63; 1.59–1.67), mental illness (1.63; 1.61–1.66), diabetes (1.56; 1.47–1.65), angina pectoris (1.28; 1.21–1.34), and unemployed persons (1.19; 1.18–1.21) had highest rates of GP visits. Conclusions:Gravidity and HT use explain a large proportion, but not all of the gender difference in GP utilization. Objective. To evaluate how municipality-based post-discharge follow-up visits including a general practitioner and municipal nurse affect early readmission among high-risk older people discharged from a hospital department of internal medicine. Design and setting. Centrally randomized single-centre pragmatic controlled trial comparing intervention and usual care with investigator-blinded outcome assessment. Intervention. The intervention was home visits with a general practitioner and municipal nurse within seven days of discharge focusing on medication, rehabilitation plan, functional level, and need for further health care initiatives. The visit was concluded by planning one or two further visits. Controls received standard health care services. Patients. People aged 65  years discharged from Holbæk University Hospital, Denmark, in 2012 considered at high risk of readmission. Main outcome measures. The primary outcome was readmission within 30 days. Secondary outcomes at 30 and 180 days included readmission, primary health care, and municipal services. Outcomes were register-based and analysis used the intention-to-treat principle. Results. A total of 270 and 261 patients were randomized to intervention and control groups, respectively. The groups were similar in baseline characteristics. In all 149 planned discharge follow-up visits were carried out (55%). Within 30 days, 24% of the intervention group and 23% of the control group were readmitted (p  0.93). No significant differences were found for any other secondary outcomes except that the intervention group received more municipal nursing services. Conclusion. This municipality-based follow-up intervention was only feasible in half the planned visits. Objective. To study the effects of applying an emergency department (ED) triage system, combined with extensive publicity in local media about the “right” use of emergency services, on the division of work between ED nurses and general practitioners (GPs). Design. An observational and quasi-experimental study based on before–after comparisons. Setting. Implementation of the ABCDE triage system in a Finnish combined ED where secondary care is adjacent, and in a traditional primary care ED where secondary care is located elsewhere. Subjects. GPs and nurses from two different primary care EDs. Main outcome measures. Numbers of monthly visits to different professional groups before and after intervention in the studied primary care EDs and numbers of monthly visits to doctors in the local secondary care ED. Results. The beginning of the triage process increased temporarily the number of independent consultations and patient record entries by ED nurses in both types of studied primary care EDs and reduced the number of patient visits to a doctor compared with previous years but had no effect on doctor visits in the adjacent secondary care ED. No further decrease in the number of nurse or GP visits was observed by inhibiting the entrance of non-urgent patients. Conclusion. The ABCDE triage system combined with public guidance may reduce non-urgent patient visits to doctors in different kinds of primary care EDs without increasing visits in the secondary care ED. Limitation in cervical spine range of motion (ROM) is one criterion for diagnosis of cervicogenic headaches (CHs). The flexion-rotation test, when performed passively (FRT-P), has been shown to be a useful test in diagnosis of CH. Few investigations have examined the flexion-rotation test when performed actively (FRT-A) by the individual, and no studies have examined the FRT-A in a symptomatic population. The purpose of this study was to compare ROM during the FRT-A and FRT-P in patients with CH and asymptomatic individuals and to compare ROM between sides for these two versions of the test. Twelve patients with CH and 10 asymptomatic participants were included in the study. An eight-camera Motion Analysis system was used to measure head motion relative to the trunk during the FRT-P and the FRT-A. Cervical rotation ROM was measured in a position of full cervical flexion for both tests. No significant difference was observed between right and left sides for cervical rotation ROM during the FRT-P nor the FRT-A when performed by asymptomatic participants. In patients with CH, a significant difference was observed between sides for the FRT-P ( P = 0·014); however, the FRT-A failed to reveal bilateral descrepancy in rotation ROM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article presents a study focused on analyzing the effects of upper thoracic spinal manipulative therapy (SMT) on the cardiovascular physiology of hypertensive patients. The study was conducted on a group of 50 patients by using the mean and standard deviation (SD) method. According to the results, the SMT doesn't effects physiology in hypertensive patients.
