Linear complexity is an important pseudo-random measure of the key stream sequence in a stream cipher system. The 1-error linear complexity is used to measure the stability of the linear complexity, which means the minimal linear complexity of the new sequence by changing one bit of the original key stream sequence. This paper contributes to calculating the exact values of the linear complexity and 1-error linear complexity of the binary key stream sequence with two prime periods defined by Ding–Helleseth generalized cyclotomy. We provide a novel method to solve such problems by employing the discrete Fourier transform and the M–S polynomial of the sequence. Our results show that, by choosing appropriate parameters p and q, the linear complexity and 1-error linear complexity can be no less than half period, which shows that the linear complexity of this sequence not only meets the requirements of cryptography but also has good stability. InSAR (Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar) is widely recognized as a crucial remote sensing tool for monitoring various geological disasters because it provides all-day and all-weather monitoring. Nevertheless, the current interpretation methods for InSAR heavily depend on the interpreter's experience, which hinders efficiency and fails to meet the requirements for the timely detection of geologic hazards. Furthermore, the results obtained through current InSAR processing carry inherent noise interference, further complicating the interpretation process. To address those issues, this paper proposes an approach that enables automatic and rapid identification of deformation zones. The proposed method leverages IPTA (Interferometric Point Target Analysis) technology for SAR data processing. It combines the power of HNSW (Hierarchical Navigable Small Word) and DBSCAN (Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise) algorithms to cluster deformation results. Compared with traditional methods, the computational efficiency of the proposed method is improved by 11.26 times, and spatial noise is suppressed. Additionally, the clustering results are fused with slope units determined using DEM (Digital Elevation Model), which facilitates the automatic identification of slopes experiencing deformation. The experimental verification in the western mountainous area of Beijing has identified 716 hidden danger areas, and this method is superior to the traditional technology in speed and automation. Simple Summary: Patient-derived xenografts (PDX) are valuable models in preclinical oncology drug development. However, they are not well suited for testing immune-based therapies. In contrast, when humanized mice are developed by xenotransplantation of irradiated mice with human CD34+ stem cells to allow for the growth of human tumor tissue in the context of a humanized immune system, it is possible to evaluate the response to both targeted therapy and immune therapy. Unfortunately, humanized mice transplanted with human PDX tissue frequently develop graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). Here, we optimized a protocol for generating humanized PDX mouse models with considerably reduced development of GVHD, making preclinical trials with immune checkpoint inhibitors possible. Current methodologies for developing PDX in humanized mice in preclinical trials with immune-based therapies are limited by GVHD. Here, we compared two approaches for establishing PDX tumors in humanized mice: (1) PDX are first established in immune-deficient mice; or (2) PDX are initially established in humanized mice; then established PDX are transplanted to a larger cohort of humanized mice for preclinical trials. With the first approach, there was rapid wasting of PDX-bearing humanized mice with high levels of activated T cells in the circulation and organs, indicating immune-mediated toxicity. In contrast, with the second approach, toxicity was less of an issue and long-term human melanoma tumor growth and maintenance of human chimerism was achieved. Preclinical trials from the second approach revealed that rigosertib, but not anti-PD-1, increased CD8/CD4 T cell ratios in spleen and blood and inhibited PDX tumor growth. Resistance to anti-PD-1 was associated with PDX tumors established from tumors with limited CD8+ T cell content. Our findings suggest that it is essential to carefully manage immune editing by first establishing PDX tumors in humanized mice before expanding PDX tumors into a larger cohort of humanized mice to evaluate therapy response. The perovskites used for optoelectronic devices have been more attractive during recent years due to their wide variety of advantages, such as their low cost, high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY), high carrier mobility, flexible bandgap tunability, and high light absorption ability. However, optoelectronic applications for traditional inorganic and organic materials present dilemmas due to their hardly tunable bandgap and instability. On the other hand, there are some more important benefits for perovskite nanocrystals, such as a size-dependent bandgap and the availability of anion exchange at room temperature. Therefore, perovskite NC-based applications are currently favored, offering a research direction beyond perovskite, and much research has focused on the stability issue and device performance. Thus, the synthesis and applications of perovskite NCs need to be thoroughly discussed for the future development of solar cells, light-emitting diodes, photodetectors, and laser research. The Xishan coal mine area in Beijing, China has a long history of mining. Many landslide hazards, in addition to collapses and ground fractures, have occurred in this area. This study used multi-temporal satellite images to extract this region's deformation information, identify landslides and analyze the deformation evolution process of these landslides. Taking the Anzigou ditch as an example, we investigate the "Quarry–Landslide–Mudslide" disaster chain model. We found that the landslide evolution process is closely related to the geological conditions, and usually goes through four stages: initial deformation, slope front swelling and collapsing, rear part connecting and rupturing, and landslide creeping. The surface deformation can be identified and tracked by high-resolution optical images and InSAR monitoring. Under the combined effects of rainfall and topographic conditions, medium and large landslides may occur and trigger a "Quarry–Landslide–Mudflow" disaster chain. The identification and analysis of these landslide hazards and the disaster chain help with geological disaster prevention, and provide reference for early identification and research of similar disasters. Repeated reuse of frying oil raises health concerns due to the accumulation of oxidative products after each frying cycle. Gut microbiota is integral in lipid metabolism and immune regulation. The present study was designed to investigate the effects of thermally-oxidized corn oil and lard on gut microbiota in relation to atherosclerosis, inflammatory cytokines, and plasma lipids. Male Golden Syrian hamsters were randomly divided into four groups and fed one of four diets containing fresh corn oil (CF), oxidized corn oil (CO), fresh lard (LF), and oxidized lard (LO), for six weeks. CO and LO were prepared by deep-frying potatoes in corn oil or lard for seven days. Results indicated that oxidized oil and lard caused the loss of species diversity and richness of gut microbiota. Feeding CO and LO also reduced the body and adipose tissue weights, associated with genus Acetatifactor and Allobaculum. Plasma triacylglycerols significantly increased by 51% in the CO and 35% in the LO group compared with that in their CF and LF counterparts, respectively. CO could also affect the abundance of specific bacteria genera: Bacteroides, Barnesiella, Acetatifactor, Allobaculum, Clostridium_IV, Clostridium_XIVa, Coprococcus, Lactococcus, Paraprevotella, Parasutterella, and Oscillibacter. In addition, CO and LO could adversely remodel gut composition and affect intestinal production of short-chain fatty acids, pro-inflammatory biomarkers (LPS and IL-6), anti-inflammatory biomarker IL-10, and atherosclerotic progression. Hyperactivation of PI3K/AKT/mTOR and MAPK/MEK/ERK signaling pathways is commonly observed in many cancers, including triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and melanoma. Moreover, the compensatory upregulation of the MAPK/MEK/ERK pathway has been associated with therapeutic resistance to targeted inhibition of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway, and vice versa. The immune-modulatory effects of both PI3K and MAPK inhibition suggest that inhibition of these pathways might enhance response to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). ICIs have become the standard-of-care for metastatic melanoma and are recently an option for TNBC when combined with chemotherapy, but alternative options are needed when resistance develops. In this review, we present the current mechanistic understandings, along with preclinical and clinical evidence, that outline the efficacy and safety profile of combinatorial or sequential treatments with PI3K inhibitors, MAPK inhibitors, and ICIs for treatment of malignant melanoma and metastatic TNBC. This approach may present a potential strategy to overcome resistance in patients who are a candidate for ICI therapy with tumors harboring either or both of these pathway-associated mutations. This paper presents a novel interleaved converter (NIC) with extra-high voltage gain to process the power of low-voltage renewable-energy generators such as photovoltaic (PV) panel, wind turbine, and fuel cells. The NIC can boost a low input voltage to a much higher voltage level to inject renewable energy to DC bus for grid applications. Since the NIC has two circuit branches in parallel at frond end to share input current, it is suitable for high power applications. In addition, the NIC is controlled in an interleaving pattern, which has the advantages that the NIC has lower input current ripple, and the frequency of the ripple is twice the switching frequency. Two coupled inductors and two switched capacitors are incorporated to achieve a much higher voltage gain than conventional high step-up converters. The proposed NIC has intrinsic features such as leakage energy totally recycling and low voltage stress on power semiconductor. The process of protein ubiquitination and deubiquitination plays an important role in maintaining protein stability and regulating signal pathways, and protein homeostasis perturbations may induce a variety of diseases. The deubiquitination process removes ubiquitin molecules from the protein, which requires the participation of deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs). Ubiquitin-specific protease 15 (USP15) is a DUB that participates in many biological cell processes and regulates tumorigenesis. A dislocation catalytic triplet was observed in the USP15 structure, a conformation not observed in other USPs, except USP7, which makes USP15 appear to be unique. USP15 has been reported to be involved in the regulation of various cancers and diseases, and the reported substrate functions of USP15 are conflicting, suggesting that USP15 may act as both an oncogene and a tumor suppressor in different contexts. The importance and complexity of USP15 in the pathological processes remains unclear. Therefore, we reviewed the diverse biological functions of USP15 in cancers and other diseases, suggesting the potential of USP15 as an attractive therapeutic target. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: Inhibition of the PI3K/mTOR pathway suppresses breast cancer (BC) growth, enhances anti-tumor immune responses, and works synergistically with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI). The objective here was to identify a subclass of PI3K inhibitors that, when combined with paclitaxel, is effective in enhancing response to ICI. Methods: C57BL/6 mice were orthotopically implanted with syngeneic luminal/triple-negative-like PyMT cells exhibiting high endogenous PI3K activity. Tumor growth in response to treatment with anti-PD-1 + anti-CTLA-4 (ICI), paclitaxel (PTX), and either the PI3Kα-specific inhibitor alpelisib, the pan-PI3K inhibitor copanlisib, or the broad spectrum PI3K/mTOR inhibitor gedatolisib was evaluated in reference to monotherapy or combinations of these therapies. Effects of these therapeutics on intratumoral immune populations were determined by multicolor FACS. Results: Treatment with alpelisib + PTX inhibited PyMT tumor growth and increased tumor-infiltrating granulocytes but did not significantly affect the number of tumor-infiltrating CD8+ T cells and did not synergize with ICI. Copanlisib + PTX + ICI significantly inhibited PyMT growth and increased activation of intratumoral CD8+ T cells as compared to ICI alone, yet did not inhibit tumor growth more than ICI alone. In contrast, gedatolisib + ICI resulted in significantly greater inhibition of tumor growth compared to ICI alone and induced durable dendritic-cell, CD8+ T-cell, and NK-cell responses. Adding PTX to this regimen yielded complete regression in 60% of tumors. Conclusion: PI3K/mTOR inhibition plus PTX heightens response to ICI and may provide a viable therapeutic approach for treatment of metastatic BC. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Plasma damage and metal ion penetration are critical issues for porous low-dielectric-constant (low-k) materials used in the back-end-of-line interconnects. This study proposed a novel process with in-situ repairing plasma-induced damage and capping a barrier for porous low-k materials by Hexamethyldisilazane (HDMS) plasma treatment. For a plasma-damaged porous low-k material, its surface hydrophilic state was transformed to hydrophobic state by HDMS plasma treatment, revealing that damage was repaired. Simultaneously, a dielectric film was capped onto the porous low-k material, and displayed better barrier capability against Cu migration. Additionally, the breakdown reliability of the stacked dielectric was enhanced by the means of HDMS plasma treatment. The optimized HDMS plasma treatment time was found to be 10 s. Therefore, this proposed HDMS plasma treatment processing is a promising technique for highly applicable low-k material used for advanced technology nodes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this work, poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA) molecules were grafted to silk fibroin (SF) molecules via a thiol–ene click reaction under 405 nm UV illumination for the fabrication of a PEGDA/SF composite hydrogel. The composite hydrogels could be prepared in a short and controllable gelation time without the use of a photoinitiator. Features relevant to the drug delivery of the PEGDA/SF hydrogels were assessed, and the hydrogels were characterized by various techniques. The results showed that the prepared PEGDA/SF hydrogels demonstrated a good sustained-release performance with limited swelling behavior. It was found that a prior cooling step can improve the compressive strength of the hydrogels effectively. Additionally, the MTT assay indicated the prepared PEGDA/SF hydrogel is non-cytotoxic. Subcutaneous implantation of the PEGDA/SF hydrogel in Kunming mice did not induce an obvious inflammation, which revealed that the prepared PEGDA/SF hydrogel possessed good biocompatibility. Fat-induced transcript 1 (FIT1/FITM1) gene is a member of the conserved gene family important for triglyceride-rich lipid droplet accumulation. FIT1 gene displays a similar muscle-specific expression across pigs, mice, and humans. Thus pigs can act as a useful model of many human diseases resulting from misexpression of FIT1 gene. Triglyceride content in skeletal muscle plays a key role in pork meat quality and flavors. An insertion/deletion mutation in porcine FIT1 coding region shows a high correlation with a series of fat traits. To gain better knowledge of the potential role of FIT1 gene in human diseases and the correlations with pork meat quality, our attention is given to the region upstream of the porcine FIT1 coding sequence. We cloned ~1 kb of the 5'-flanking region of porcine FIT1 gene to define the role of this sequence in modulating the myogenic expression. A canonical E-box element that activated porcine FIT1 promoter activity during myogenesis was identified. Further analysis demonstrated that promoter activity was induced by overexpression of MyoD1, which bound to this canonical E-box during C2C12 differentiation. This is the first evidence that FIT1 as the direct novel target of MyoD is involved in muscle development.
