Anemia is a global public health problem, especially common among children in developing countries, which affects their physical and mental health development. However, there is currently a lack of research on the relationship between anemia and academic performance. The objective of this study was to explore the association between anemia and academic performance, and the possible factors mediating this association among Chinese children. The data for this study came from the baseline survey of the Chinese Education Panel Survey Elementary School Cohort. The cohort was conducted from September 2018 to June 2019 in 160 elementary schools, covering 20 provinces and 40 counties/districts throughout China. Paper-based questionnaires were used, completed by 4th grade students, parents, head teachers, main teachers, and principals. The data used included questionnaire responses, physical measurements, and academic performance of 17,695 students. Based on students' hemoglobin levels and school altitude data, we grouped them into anemia and nonanemia categories using WHO criteria. The anemia group had 1,154 individuals, while the nonanemia group had 16,541 individuals. An ordinary least squares regression and mediation effect analysis were conducted. Our findings found the prevalence of anemia was 6.52% among Chinese Grade 4 students. Students without anemia had a higher average test score for three academic subjects than students with anemia (P < 0.001); their test scores for Chinese, Mathematics, and English were also higher (P < 0.05). Multivariate regression analysis showed a negative association between anemia and average test scores as well as individual test scores for the three subjects. Mediation analysis found that anemia affected academic performance directly (P < 0.05), and indirectly by decreasing the cognition score (P < 0.05). The indirect effect was 19.9% of the total effect. Findings highlighted anemia affected academic performance both directly and indirectly. Purpose. As a scientific field, bioinformatics has drawn remarkable attention from various fields, such as information technology, mathematics, and modern biological sciences, in recent years. The topic models originating from the field of natural language processing have become the focus of attention with the rapid accumulation of biological datasets. Thus, this research is aimed at modeling the topic content of the bioinformatics literature presented by Iranian researchers in the Scopus Citation Database. Methodology. This research was a descriptive-exploratory study, and the studied population included 3899 papers indexed in the Scopus database, which had been indexed in this database until March 9, 2022. The topic modeling was then performed on the abstracts and titles of the papers. A combination of LDA and TF-IDF was utilized for topic modeling. Findings. The data analysis with topic modeling resulted in identifying seven main topics "Molecular Modeling," "Gene Expression," "Biomarker," "Coronavirus," "Immunoinformatics," "Cancer Bioinformatics," and "Systems Biology." Moreover, "Systems Biology" and "Coronavirus" had the largest and smallest clusters, respectively. Conclusion. The present investigation demonstrated an acceptable performance for the LDA algorithm in classifying the topics included in this field. Deep learning is an important concept introduced into modern learning science. It is different from the surface learning of mechanically and passively acquiring knowledge and storing individual information but emphasizes learners' active and critical learning. It wants them to understand the full meaning of what they have learned. By establishing a link between existing knowledge and new knowledge, it transfers existing knowledge to a new environment, makes decisions, and solves problems. Deep learning plays an important role in students' learning. Deep learning ability is the key factor affecting the quality of learning and the development of students' academic ability. The quality of in-depth teaching is difficult to guarantee, which requires a complete, comprehensive, and evaluation system to evaluate it. This paper introduces the analytic hierarchy process to weight the indexes in mathematics deep learning and puts forward some suggestions on creating an environment for deep learning. The experimental results show that teachers' teaching accounts for the highest proportion of primary indicators, reaching 67%. There is a huge amount of mathematical information in the world, and mathematics is everywhere and nowhere. Bayesian theory is based on a process of statistical inference that requires the calculation of general and prior information to obtain a posteriori information. Its main features are the use of probabilities to represent all forms of uncertainty and the use of probabilistic rules to enable learning and inference, estimating the probability of future occurrences by calculating the probability of a past time. In order to bring mathematics closer to life, this paper explores the teaching of mathematical applications in terms of material selection, teaching arrangement, and professional integration. The teaching characteristic of colleges and universities is determined by the teaching quality of teachers, but it is difficult to calculate with a linear mathematical explanation how to judge the teaching quality of teachers. In most colleges and universities, expert evaluations, supervision groups, peers listening to lectures in the classroom, and students' after-class evaluations are still used to determine the teaching ability of professors. It is undeniable that these judgment methods have certain practicality. Especially for new teachers, experts and peers can find problems in time and help new teachers quickly correct them, and they can also know how to better practice the "student-centered" teaching concept from the feedback of students after class. However, these judgment standards also have their limitations. For example, the classroom quality judgment standards for experts and peers are mostly set by some administrative departments according to social requirements, leadership requirements, and subjective cognition. Various institutions should have different weights for the same criterion, and if they all employ the same criteria, it will easily lead to imprecise conclusions. In addition, the expert group and students are also subjective and incomplete in the stage of teacher evaluation. Nowadays, with the popularization of artificial intelligence (AI), the use of neural networks (NNs) is becoming more and more comprehensive. According to the characteristics of NNs, this paper uses the GA NNs algorithm to signify that this algorithm can be effectively used in the evaluation of teachers' teaching quality. In this paper, a large number of experimental results show that the use of GA NNs can be used to evaluate the quality of teaching, and the evaluation results can be obtained quantitatively in this way. Educational data mining is becoming a more and more popular research field in recent years, mainly with the help of cross research conducted by various disciplines, so as to solve various difficult problems in the teaching and education process. In this paper, we proposed a hybrid approach for student performance prediction. We collected the dataset, including 15 characteristics of students from three categories (individual basic information, individual education information, and individual behavior information). Based on the random forest (RF) and simulated annealing (SA) algorithms, we binary encode the relevant parameters (number of features, tree size, and tree decision weights) as the target variables for algorithm optimization, use the out-of-bag error as the optimization objective function, and then propose the IRFC (improved random forest classifier) algorithm in this paper. Compared with other mainstream improved random forest algorithms, the research results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm in this paper has higher generalization ability and smaller OOB error. In order to supplement and improve the landscape evaluation system of traditional villages and play a positive guiding role in the specific protection and development of village landscape, this paper proposes the ecological landscape environment evaluation of traditional villages in Guanzhong from the perspective of rural revitalization. First of all, the relevant national and provincial evaluation standards are deeply studied, and the comprehensive evaluation system of the traditional village landscape in the Guanzhong region is constructed by using expert scoring and an analytic hierarchy process, which includes 6 criteria and 25 indicators. Three typical villages of different types and different development stages, namely, village A, village B, and Village C, were selected for landscape investigation and comprehensive evaluation. The results show that the weight of village location and landscape pattern is the largest, that is, the most important. The second is architectural landscape, with a weight of 0.236, accounting for a high proportion. Then, it is the natural landscape and street landscape, with a weight of 0.1-0.2. Finally, it is the intangible cultural landscape and landscape style protection, with a weight of less than 0.1. The alpha value of the comprehensive evaluation questionnaire of the village A is 0.984. The alpha value of the comprehensive evaluation questionnaire of village B is 0.941. The alpha value of the comprehensive evaluation questionnaire for the landscape of village C is 0.986, which is greater than 0.8. Conclusion. In order to improve the effect of classroom teaching and realize the improvement of mathematics teaching quality, this article combines data-driven decision-making technology to design a mathematics teaching plan system and applies data-driven decision-making technology to the design of mathematics teaching plan by improving the big data algorithm. With the increasing importance of mathematics in basic education, how to evaluate and analyze the intelligent effect of mathematics teaching classroom through scientific methods has become one of the indicators to evaluate the intelligent classroom. This paper studies the design and application of mathematics teaching intelligent classroom based on the PCA-NN (principal component analysis-neural network) algorithm. Firstly, this paper briefly describes the current research status of mathematics teaching intelligent classroom design and PCA-NN algorithm. Secondly, combined with the key factors of mathematics teaching, it formulates specific standards and puts forward an adaptive strategy of intelligent and personalized intelligent mathematics teaching classroom. Finally, the algorithm is verified by experiments. The results show that, for students with different mathematics basic levels, the mathematics teaching intelligent classroom based on the PCA-NN algorithm can effectively improve the quality of mathematics classroom teaching. With the development of computer technology, computers have become a part of people's lives and the Internet has connected the world's networks as a whole. Computer technology is changing people's study, life, and work. People's traditional education mode, thinking, content, method, and talent training program have a significant impact. The development from traditional to computer technology-based teaching methods has brought new developments and leaps in educational technology. This paper analyzes the research background, significance, and research status of the advanced mathematics auxiliary teaching system, introduces the related technologies and development modes used in the development of the system, and especially discusses the access database technology by ADO and the mathematical expression based on MathML language. Secondly, starting from the actual teaching, we analyze the functional requirements and performance requirements of the system in detail and make detailed planning and design for the system architecture, database selection, functional modules, etc. The design and implementation process of this teaching system are summarized. The teaching strategy inference engine is the key to the personalization and intelligence of the ICAI system. According to the learning models provided by different students, the system designs a corresponding teaching sequence for the learners by controlling the meta-knowledge of the domain knowledge base. Malignant melanoma is one of the most threatening cancers to human health. Only 14% of patients with malignant melanoma have a remaining life span of 5 years. At present, there have been some studies looking for potential prognostic indicators of esophageal cancer from the level of genes and infiltrating immune cells, but there are still some problems that need to be resolved urgently. This paper proposes IGHG3 as the immune infiltration of malignant melanoma, which takes into account the computational mathematics. It aims to deduce the characteristics of immune cell infiltration in malignant melanoma and study the relationship between different immune cell infiltration characteristics and prognosis. The method in this article is to establish a computational mathematical model for the immunotherapy of melanoma, then study the method of identification of the affinity of the IGHG3 reagent, and finally obtain the gene expression of immune infiltration. The functions of these methods are, respectively, to predict the dynamic behavior of T cells with two different specificities through mathematical models and to test the matching degree of different concentrations of IGHG3 reagent with the human body. Then use the ssGSEA algorithm to obtain immune infiltration related data and calculate the difference between the weighted empirical cumulative distribution function of all genes in the effect of IGHG3 on melanoma that was carried out. The experimental results showed the computational mathematical method genome and all the remaining genes. In this study, a computational mathematical method to detect the IGHG3 gene expression had a significant inhibitory effect on A375 cells in the experimental group, and the knockdown efficiency reached 85.6%. In this paper, the theory of viscoelastic material relaxation modulus testing, testing method, and material relaxation modulus parameter solution method is studied. Based on the IoT sensor test devices and the Hertzian mathematics theory, the relationship between the compression amount, pressure, and relaxation modulus of a rigid spherical indenter pressed into a flat viscoelastic material is studied. In combination with the Boltzmann superposition principle, the relaxation modulus test method and theory for viscoelastic materials are proposed. A good fitting curve was obtained to solve the relaxation modulus parameters of various materials under the three-element Maxwell model. This research aims to improve the rationality and intelligence of AUTOMATICALLY HIGHER MATHEMATICALLY EXAM SYSTEM (AHMES) through some AI algorithms. AHMES is an intelligent and high-quality higher math examination solution for the Department of Computer Engineering at Pai Chai University. This research redesigned the difficulty system of AHMES and used some AI algorithms for initialization and continuous adjustment. This paper describes the multiple linear regression algorithm involved in this research and the AHMES learning (AL) algorithm improved by the Q-learning algorithm. The poor comprehensiveness of the evaluation indexes of quality evaluation methods for the traditional college mathematics teaching model reform results in low accuracy of the evaluation outcomes. In this paper, aiming at this problem, a quality evaluation method for the college mathematics teaching model reform, based on the genetic algorithm, is proposed. The simulated annealing algorithm uses the weighted comprehensive objective evaluation multiobjective optimization effect that can effectively improve the accuracy of the evaluation results. In the training process, the gradient descent back-propagation training method is used to obtain new weights for the quality evaluation of college mathematics teaching mode reforms and to score various indicators and evaluate the indicators. The mean value of the outcomes is the result of mathematics teaching quality evaluation. The experimental results show that the training error of the convolutional network of the proposed method is significantly small. Based on the genetic algorithm that improves the convolutional network training process, the obtained quality evaluation outcomes are higher in accuracy, better in goodness of fitness function, and considerably lower than other state-of-the-art methods. We observed that the improved genetic algorithm has a more than 90% goodness of fit and the error is significantly lower, that is, 0.01 to 0.04, than the classical genetic algorithm. Convex functions play an important role in many areas of mathematics. They are especially important in the study of optimization problems where they are distinguished by a number of convenient properties. In this paper, firstly we introduce the notion of h -exponential convex functions. This notion can be considered as generalizations of many existing definitions of convex functions. Then, we establish some well-known inequalities for the proposed notion via incomplete gamma functions. Precisely speaking, we established trapezoidal, midpoint, and He's inequalities for h -exponential and harmonically exponential convex functions via incomplete gamma functions. One of the major shortcomings of Hopfield neural network (HNN) is that the network may not always converge to a fixed point. HNN, predominantly, is limited to local optimization during training to achieve network stability. In this paper, the convergence problem is addressed using two approaches: (a) by sequencing the activation of a continuous modified HNN (MHNN) based on the geometric correlation of features within various image hyperplanes via pixel gradient vectors and (b) by regulating geometric pixel gradient vectors. These are achieved by regularizing proposed MHNNs under cohomology, which enables them to act as an unconventional filter for pixel spectral sequences. It shifts the focus to both local and global optimizations in order to strengthen feature correlations within each image subspace. As a result, it enhances edges, information content, contrast, and resolution. The proposed algorithm was tested on fifteen different medical images, where evaluations were made based on entropy, visual information fidelity (VIF), weighted peak signal-to-noise ratio (WPSNR), contrast, and homogeneity. In this paper, an algorithm is introduced to solve the global optimization problem for melanoma skin cancer segmentation. The algorithm is based on the smoothing of an auxiliary function that is constructed using a known local minimizer and smoothed by utilising Bezier curves. This function achieves all filled function properties. The proposed optimization method is applied to find the threshold values in melanoma skin cancer images. The proposed algorithm is implemented on PH2, ISBI2016 challenge, and ISBI 2017 challenge datasets for melanoma segmentation. We propose a hybrid discrete grey wolf optimizer (HDGWO) in this paper to solve the weapon target assignment (WTA) problem, a kind of nonlinear integer programming problems. To make the original grey wolf optimizer (GWO), which was only developed for problems with a continuous solution space, available in the context, we first modify it by adopting a decimal integer encoding method to represent solutions (wolves) and presenting a modular position update method to update solutions in the discrete solution space. By this means, we acquire a discrete grey wolf optimizer (DGWO) and then through combining it with a local search algorithm (LSA), we obtain the HDGWO. Moreover, we also introduce specific domain knowledge into both the encoding method and the local search algorithm to compress the feasible solution space. Finally, we examine the feasibility of the HDGWO and the scalability of the HDGWO, respectively, by adopting it to solve a benchmark case and ten large-scale WTA problems. All of the running results are compared with those of a discrete particle swarm optimization (DPSO), a genetic algorithm with greedy eugenics (GAWGE), and an adaptive immune genetic algorithm (AIGA). Ambulance location problem is a key issue in Emergency Medical Service (EMS) system, which is to determine where to locate ambulances such that the emergency calls can be responded efficiently. Most related researches focus on deterministic problems or assume that the probability distribution of demand can be estimated. In practice, however, it is difficult to obtain perfect information on probability distribution. This paper investigates the ambulance location problem with partial demand information; i.e., only the mean and covariance matrix of the demands are known. The problem consists of determining base locations and the employment of ambulances, to minimize the total cost. A new distribution-free chance constrained model is proposed. Then two approximated mixed integer programming (MIP) formulations are developed to solve it. Finally, numerical experiments on benchmarks (Nickel et al., 2016) and 120 randomly generated instances are conducted, and computational results show that our proposed two formulations can ensure a high service level in a short time. This paper proposes a method using multidomain features and support vector machine (SVM) for classifying normal and abnormal heart sound recordings. The database was provided by the PhysioNet/CinC Challenge 2016. A total of 515 features are extracted from nine feature domains, i.e., time interval, frequency spectrum of states, state amplitude, energy, frequency spectrum of records, cepstrum, cyclostationarity, high-order statistics, and entropy. Correlation analysis is conducted to quantify the feature discrimination abilities, and the results show that “frequency spectrum of state”, “energy”, and “entropy” are top domains to contribute effective features. A SVM with radial basis kernel function was trained for signal quality estimation and classification. The SVM classifier is independently trained and tested by many groups of top features. It shows the average of sensitivity, specificity, and overall score are high up to 0.88, 0.87, and 0.88, respectively, when top 400 features are used. This score is competitive to the best previous scores. The classifier has very good performance with even small number of top features for training and it has stable output regardless of randomly selected features for training. J wave is the bulge generated in the descending slope of the terminal portion of the QRS complex in the electrocardiogram. The presence of J wave may lead to sudden death. However, the diagnosis of J wave variation only depends on doctor’s clinical experiences at present and missed diagnosis is easy to occur. In this paper, a new method is proposed to realize the automatic detection of J wave. First, the synchrosqueezed wavelet transform is used to obtain the precise time-frequency information of the ECG. Then, the inverse transformation of SST is computed to get the intrinsic mode function of the ECG. At last, the time-frequency features and SST-based and the entropy features based on modes are fed to Random forest to realize the automatic detection of J wave. This paper is concerned with the mathematical modeling of a severe and common congenital defect called hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). Surgical approaches are utilized for palliating this heart condition; however, a brain white matter injury called periventricular leukomalacia (PVL) occurs with high prevalence at or around the time of surgery, the exact cause of which is not known presently. Our main goal in this paper is to study the hemodynamic conditions under which HLHS physiology may lead to the occurrence of PVL. A lumped parameter model of the HLHS circulation has been developed integrating diffusion modeling of oxygen and carbon dioxide concentrations in order to study hemodynamic variables such as pressure, flow, and blood gas concentration. Results presented include calculations of blood pressures and flow rates in different parts of the circulation. Simulations also show changes in the ratio of pulmonary to systemic blood flow rates when the sizes of the patent ductus arteriosus and atrial septal defect are varied. These changes lead to unbalanced blood circulations and, when combined with low oxygen and carbon dioxide concentrations in arteries, result in poor oxygen delivery to the brain. This paper presents measurements of the changes in phase angle of the harmonic current for a domestic costumer due to the introduction of energy-efficient lamps (compact fluorescent lamps and light-emitting diodes lamps). Those results are then compared with the aggregation rules according to standard IEC 61000-3-6 and with a mathematical model, in order to highlight the importance of using phase angles in the harmonic estimations. The paper presents both the emission from individual household devices and the variations in the complex harmonic current from a group of devices. Cancellation because of phase-angle difference plays an important role in the emission from a group of different devices. This explains why the increase in emission after changing to energy-efficient lamps is much smaller than expected. Some other power-quality parameters are also considered such as total harmonic distortion, total power factor, and displacement power factor. Fluorescence planar imaging (FPI) is failure to capture high resolution images of deep fluorochromes due to photon diffusion. This paper presents an image restoration method to deal with this kind of blurring. The scheme of this method is conceived based on a reconstruction method in fluorescence molecular tomography (FMT) with diffusion model. A new unknown parameter is defined through introducing the first mean value theorem for definite integrals. System matrix converting this unknown parameter to the blurry image is constructed with the elements of depth conversion matrices related to a chosen plane named focal plane. Results of phantom and mouse experiments show that the proposed method is capable of reducing the blurring of FPI image caused by photon diffusion when the depth of focal plane is chosen within a proper interval around the true depth of fluorochrome. GRAPPA (Generalized Autocalibrating Partially Parallel Acquisition) is a widely used parallel MRI reconstruction technique. The processing of data from multichannel receiver coils may increase the storage and computational requirements of GRAPPA reconstruction. Random projection on GRAPPA (RP-GRAPPA) uses random projection (RP) method to overcome the computational overheads of solving large linear equations in the calibration phase of GRAPPA, saving reconstruction time. However, RP-GRAPPA compromises the reconstruction accuracy in case of large reductions in the dimensions of calibration equations. In this paper, we present the implementation of GRAPPA reconstruction method using potential iterative solvers to estimate the reconstruction coefficients from the randomly projected calibration equations. Experimental results show that the proposed methods withstand the reconstruction accuracy (visually and quantitatively) against large reductions in the dimension of linear equations, when compared with RP-GRAPPA reconstruction. Particularly, the proposed method using conjugate gradient for least squares (CGLS) demonstrates more savings in the computational time of GRAPPA, without significant loss in the reconstruction accuracy, when compared with RP-GRAPPA. It is also demonstrated that the proposed method using CGLS complements the channel compression method for reducing the computational complexities associated with higher channel count, thereby resulting in additional memory savings and speedup. The high temperature gas-cooled reactor pebble-bed module (HTR-PM) in China received much attention for its inherent safety performance and high thermal efficiency. The generation mechanism, distribution, reduction route, and release type of tritium (H-3) in HTR-PM are presented with a complete theoretical model. The calculation results indicate the majority of H-3 in the core is generated by the activation reaction of B-10. The activity concentration of H-3 in the primary loop and the specific activity of H-3 in the secondary loop at the operating equilibrium are computed as 3.69 × 106 Bq/m3STP of helium and 4.22 × 104 Bq/kg of water, respectively. The H-3 sampling measurement in HTR-PM has been designed to collect data from the primary coolant, from the liquid waste storage tank, from the secondary coolant, and from the liquid and gaseous effluents, separately. In this paper, the design of H-3 sampling positions in the helium purification system is discussed. The H-3 sampling measurement from the primary helium in HTR-PM has been improved, which can provide reliable activity concentration data of H-3 in the primary loop and supply accurate evaluation for the efficiency of the helium purification system. With the rapid development of cheminformatics, computational biology, and systems biology, great progress has been made recently in the computational research of Chinese herbal medicine with in-depth understanding towards pharmacognosy. This paper summarized these studies in the aspects of computational methods, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compound databases, and TCM network pharmacology. Furthermore, we chose arachidonic acid metabolic network as a case study to demonstrate the regulatory function of herbal medicine in the treatment of inflammation at network level. This paper proposed to take advantages of resonant ultrasound spectroscopy (RUS) to measure the mechanical properties of human dentin specimen. The resonant spectroscopy of the dentin specimen was obtained between the frequency bands 155 and 575 kHz, and resonant frequencies were extracted by linear predictive filter and then by Levenberg-Marquardt method. By inverse problem approach, 13 experimental resonant frequencies progressively matched to the first 30 orders of theoretical resonant frequencies calculated by Lagrangian variational method. The full second-order elastic tensor of dentin specimen was adjusted. The whole set of human dentin engineering moduli, including Young’s moduli (E11=22.641 GPa, E33=13.637 GPa), shear moduli (G12=10.608 GPa, G23=7.742 Gpa), and Poisson’s ratios (ν12=0.067, ν31=0.378), were finally calculated. This paper opens up a new issue dealing with Luffa cylindrica (LC) lignocellulosic biomass recovery in order to produce 2G bioethanol. LC fibers are composed of three principal fractions, namely, α-cellulose (45.80%  ± 1.3), hemicelluloses (20.76%  ± 0.3), and lignins (13.15%  ± 0.6). The optimization of LC fibers hydrothermal and diluted acid pretreatments duration and temperature were achieved through the cubic central composite experimental design CCD. The pretreatments optimization was monitored via the determination of reducing sugars. Then, the 2G bioethanol process feasibility was tested by means of three successive steps, namely, LC fibers hydrothermal pretreatment performed at 96°C during 54 minutes, enzymatic saccharification carried out by means of a commercial enzyme AP2, and the alcoholic fermentation fulfilled with Saccharomyces cerevisiae. LC fibers hydrothermal pretreatment liberated 33.55 g/kg of reducing sugars. Enzymatic hydrolysis allowed achieving 59.4 g/kg of reducing sugars. The conversion yield of reducing sugar to ethanol was 88.66%. After the distillation step, concentration of ethanol was 1.58% with a volumetric yield about 70%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Generalized autocalibrating partially parallel acquisition (GRAPPA) has been a widely used parallel MRI technique. However, noise deteriorates the reconstructed image when reduction factor increases or even at low reduction factor for some noisy datasets. Noise, initially generated from scanner, propagates noise-related errors during fitting and interpolation procedures of GRAPPA to distort the final reconstructed image quality. The basic idea we proposed to improve GRAPPA is to remove noise from a system identification perspective. In this paper, we first analyze the GRAPPA noise problem from a noisy input-output system perspective; then, a new framework based on errors-in-variables (EIV) model is developed for analyzing noise generation mechanism in GRAPPA and designing a concrete method—instrument variables (IV) GRAPPA to remove noise. The proposed EIV framework provides possibilities that noiseless GRAPPA reconstruction could be achieved by existing methods that solve EIV problem other than IV method. Experimental results show that the proposed reconstruction algorithm can better remove the noise compared to the conventional GRAPPA, as validated with both of phantom and in vivo brain data. Tumors are a serious threat to human health. The oncolytic virus is a kind of tumor killer virus which can infect and lyse cancer cells and spread through the tumor, while leaving normal cells largely unharmed. Mathematical models can help us to understand the tumor-virus dynamics and find better treatment strategies. This paper gives a new mathematical model of tumor therapy with oncolytic virus and MEK inhibitor. Stable analysis was given. Because mitogen-activated protein kinase (MEK) can not only lead to greater oncolytic virus infection into cancer cells, but also limit the replication of the virus, in order to provide the best dosage of MEK inhibitors and balance the positive and negative effect of the inhibitors, we put forward an optimal control problem of the inhibitor. Although heart researches and acquirement of clinical and experimental data are progressively open to public use, cardiac biophysical functions are still not well understood. Due to the complex and fine structures of the heart, cardiac electrophysiological features of interest may be occluded when there is a necessity to demonstrate cardiac electrophysiological behaviors. To investigate cardiac abnormal electrophysiological features under the pathological condition, in this paper, we implement a human cardiac ischemic model and acquire the electrophysiological data of excitation propagation. A visualization framework is then proposed which integrates a novel depth weighted optic attenuation model into the pathological electrophysiological model. The hidden feature of interest in pathological tissue can be revealed from sophisticated overlapping biophysical information. Experiment results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method for intuitively exploring and inspecting cardiac electrophysiological activities, which is fundamental in analyzing and explaining biophysical mechanisms of cardiac functions for doctors and medical staff. The performance of device-to-device (D2D) communication in a cellular network depends on the resource sharing between D2D links and cellular users. Existing researches on resource sharing mainly focus on power control between the D2D users and cellular users that operate in the same frequency band. However, the D2D outage probability performance is hampered by the cellular interference to D2D links. Therefore, the D2D users may not achieve satisfactory SINR performance when D2D users and cellular users are geographically located in a small area; as a result, the outage probability performance would be significantly degraded. In this paper, we provide a novel resource sharing strategy to mitigate the interference from cellular users to D2D receivers by utilizing the low energy characteristics of signals in the guard band and analyze the D2D outage probability performance mathematically. Both the mathematical analysis and numerical results show that the proposed resource sharing strategy provides 1.2 dB SNR gain in D2D outage probability performance while guaranteeing the cellular throughputs. Constructing rooted phylogenetic networks from rooted phylogenetic trees has become an important problem in molecular evolution. So far, many methods have been presented in this area, in which most efficient methods are based on the incompatible graph, such as the CASS, the LNETWORK, and the BIMLR. This paper will research the commonness of the methods based on the incompatible graph, the relationship between incompatible graph and the phylogenetic network, and the topologies of incompatible graphs. We can find out all the simplest datasets for a topology G and construct a network for every dataset. For any one dataset C, we can compute a network from the network representing the simplest dataset which is isomorphic to C. This paper presents an ultrasound simulation model for pulsatile blood flow, modulated by the motion of a stenosed vessel wall. It aims at generating more realistic ultrasonic signals to provide an environment for evaluating ultrasound signal processing and imaging and a framework for investigating the behaviors of blood flow field modulated by wall motion. This model takes into account fluid-structure interaction, blood pulsatility, stenosis of the vessel, and arterial wall movement caused by surrounding tissue’s motion. The axial and radial velocity distributions of blood and the displacement of vessel wall are calculated by solving coupled Navier-Stokes and wall equations. With these obtained values, we made several different phantoms by treating blood and the vessel wall as a group of point scatterers. Then, ultrasound echoed signals from oscillating wall and blood in the axisymmetric stenotic-carotid arteries were computed by ultrasound simulation software, Field II. The results show better consistency with corresponding theoretical values and clinical data and reflect the influence of wall movement on the flow field. It can serve as an effective tool not only for investigating the behavior of blood flow field modulated by wall motion but also for quantitative or qualitative evaluation of new ultrasound imaging technology and estimation method of blood velocity. Phylogenetic networks are a generalization of phylogenetic trees that allow for the representation of evolutionary events acting at the population level, such as recombination between genes, hybridization between lineages, and horizontal gene transfer. The researchers have designed several measures for computing the dissimilarity between two phylogenetic networks, and each measure has been proven to be a metric on a special kind of phylogenetic networks. However, none of the existing measures is a metric on the space of partly reduced phylogenetic networks. Multiobjective evolutionary algorithms have incorporated surrogate models in order to reduce the number of required evaluations to approximate the Pareto front of computationally expensive multiobjective optimization problems. Currently, few works have reviewed the state of the art in this topic. However, the existing reviews have focused on classifying the evolutionary multiobjective optimization algorithms with respect to the type of underlying surrogate model. Neurons are specialized, electrically excitable cells which use electrical to chemical signals to transmit and elaborate information. Understanding how the cooperation of a great many of neurons in a grid may modify and perhaps improve the information quality, in contrast to few neurons in isolation, is critical for the rational design of cell-materials interfaces for applications in regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, and personalized lab-on-a-chips. In the present paper, we couple an integrate-and-fire model with information theory variables to analyse the extent of information in a network of nerve cells. We provide an estimate of the information in the network in bits as a function of cell density and short-term depression time. In the model, neurons are connected through a Delaunay triangulation of not-intersecting edges; in doing so, the number of connecting synapses per neuron is approximately constant to reproduce the early time of network development in planar neural cell cultures. In simulations where the number of nodes is varied, we observe an optimal value of cell density for which information in the grid is maximized. In simulations in which the posttransmission latency time is varied, we observe that information increases as the latency time decreases and, for specific configurations of the grid, it is largely enhanced in a resonance effect. Cancer is a class of diseases characterized by out-of-control cells’ growth which affect cells and make them damaged. Many treatment options for cancer exist. Chemotherapy as an important treatment option is the use of drugs to treat cancer. The anticancer drug travels to the tumor and then diffuses in it through capillaries. The diffusion of drugs in the solid tumor is limited by penetration depth which is different in case of different drugs and cancers. The computation of this depth is important as it helps physicians to investigate about treatment of infected tissue. Although many efforts have been made on studying and measuring drug penetration depth, less works have been done on computing this length from a mathematical point of view. In this paper, first we propose phase lagging model for diffusion of drug in the tumor. Then, using this model on one side and considering the classic diffusion on the other side, we compute the drug penetration depth in the solid tumor. Protein remote homology detection is one of the central problems in bioinformatics. Although some computational methods have been proposed, the problem is still far from being solved. In this paper, an ensemble classifier for protein remote homology detection, called SVM-Ensemble, was proposed with a weighted voting strategy. SVM-Ensemble combined three basic classifiers based on different feature spaces, including Kmer, ACC, and SC-PseAAC. These features consider the characteristics of proteins from various perspectives, incorporating both the sequence composition and the sequence-order information along the protein sequences. Experimental results on a widely used benchmark dataset showed that the proposed SVM-Ensemble can obviously improve the predictive performance for the protein remote homology detection. The monoexponential model is widely used in quantitative biomedical imaging. Notable applications include apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) imaging and pharmacokinetics. The application of ADC imaging to the detection of malignant tissue has in turn prompted several studies concerning optimal experiment design for monoexponential model fitting. In this paper, we propose a new experiment design method that is based on minimizing the determinant of the covariance matrix of the estimated parameters (D-optimal design). In contrast to previous methods, D-optimal design is independent of the imaged quantities. Applying this method to ADC imaging, we demonstrate its steady performance for the whole range of input variables (imaged parameters, number of measurements, and range of b-values). Using Monte Carlo simulations we show that the D-optimal design outperforms existing experiment design methods in terms of accuracy and precision of the estimated parameters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective. To show how random variables concern fatigue behaviour by a probabilistic finite element method. Methods. Uncertainties on material properties due to the existence of defects that cause material elastic constant are not the same in the whole dental implant the dimensions of the structural element and load history have a decisive influence on the fatigue process and therefore on the life of a dental implant. In order to measure these uncertainties, we used a method based on Markoff chains, Bogdanoff and Kozin cumulative damage model, and probabilistic finite elements method. Results. The results have been obtained by conventional and probabilistic methods. Mathematical models obtained the same result regarding fatigue life; however, the probabilistic model obtained a greater mean life but with more information because of the cumulative probability function. The present paper introduces an improved procedure to study fatigue behaviour in order to know statistics of the fatigue life (mean and variance) and its probability of failure (fatigue life versus probability of failure). A comprehensive understanding of the integrative nature of the molecular network in thrombosis would be very helpful to develop multicomponent and multitarget antithrombosis drugs for use in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). This paper attempts to comprehensively map the molecular network in thrombosis by combining platelet signaling, the coagulation cascade, and natural clot dissolution systems and to analyze the topological characteristics of the network, including the centralities of nodes, network modules, and network robustness. The results in this research advance understanding of functions of proteins in the thrombosis network and provide a reference for predicting potential therapeutic antithrombotic targets and evaluating their influence on the network.
