Als »kirchenhistorisches Ereignis« hat Oktavian Schmucki in der Collectanea Franciscana 62/1992 den zweiten Band des auf vier Bände geplanten Bischofslexikons begrüßt. Inzwischen kann der Verlag mit dem dritten Band auf einen weiteren Meilenstein innerhalb des ehrgeizigen Projekts des Kirchenhistorikers und seit 1975 Rektors des Campo Santo Teutonico im Vatikan, Erwin Gatz, aufmerksam machen. Erwin Gatz hat sich der verdienstvollen Aufgabe angenommen, ein biographisches Bischofslexikon herauszugeben, das in seiner Vollendung die Biographien aller Diözesan- und Weihbischöfe sowie eines Großteils der führenden Bistumsbeamten für die Jahre 1198 - 1945, d. h. für einen Zeitraum von etwa 750 Jahren, vorstellt. Der vierte, in Vorbereitung befindliche Band wird die Lebensbilder/Biogramme der Bischöfe im Heiligen Römischen Reich von 1198 bis 1448 enthalten. Damit blättert dieses Opus - über den deutschen Sprachraum hinausgreifend - ein in seiner Art beispielloses Panorama der Kirche in Mitteleuropa auf, das mit Fug und Recht als unentbehrliches Referenzwerk für Historiker und kirchlich Interessierte bezeichnet werden kann.

Die Auswirkungen des demographischen Wandels lassen sich für die Wohnungswirtschaft nicht wegdiskutieren, sondern werden immer bedeutsamer. Hieraus ergeben sich neue Aufgaben, aber auch Chancen und Möglichkeiten für bisher nicht genutzte oder gekannte Märkte. Es gilt, nicht nur den Wohnungsbestand altengerecht anzupassen, sondern mit modernen Technologien zukunftsfähig zu machen. Ein Schlagwort, das im Zusammenhang von Wohnen, Alter, Zukunft, Dienstleistungen und Technologien immer wieder fällt, ist „Ambient Assisted Living', kurz AAL (deutsch: altersgerechte Assistenzsysteme). AAL bringt manche Experten zum Schwärmen über die Möglichkeiten der Technik, Demographieprobleme zu lösen. In der öffentlichen Wahrnehmung und beim Endverbraucher scheint AAL jedoch noch nicht angekommen. Diese Unkenntnis mag auch daran liegen, dass kaum einer weiß, was sich hinter der Begrifflichkeit „AAL'verbirgt. Zahlreiche Definitionen, unterschiedliche Projektbeteiligte und Intentionen, verschiedenste Konzepte oder Produkte und damit verbunden diversifizierte Nutzergruppen erschweren die Diskussion. Zudem existieren, trotz teilweise mehrjähriger Forschungsarbeiten, bisher nur sehr wenige tragfähige Geschäftsmodelle. In dieser Untersuchung sollen eine Definition und eine begriffliche Einordnung der Thematik „AAL'vor allem aus wohnungswirtschaftlicher Sicht erfolgen. Ein wichtiger Aspekt ist hierbei die aktuelle und zukünftige Finanzierungssituation von AAL- Lösungen. Die Einordnung und Abgrenzung erfolgt dabei besonders zu den Bereichen „Smart Home'und „Vernetztes Wohnen“. Daneben liegt ein Schwerpunkt auf dem Zusammenhang von AAL- Lösungen mit sozialen Dienstleistungen, die als zwingend notwendig für eine erfolgreiche Umsetzung von Geschäftsmodellen eingeschätzt werden. Ausgehend von den Ursachen und Auswirkungen des demographischen Wandels werden die Anforderungen an das zukünftige Wohnen dargelegt. This book has its origins in the 1982 Spring College held at the Interna­ tional Centre for Theoretical Physics, Miramare, Trieste. The primary aim is to give a broad coverage of liquids and amorphous solids, at a level suitable for graduate students and research workers in condensed-matter physics, physical chemistry, and materials science. The book is intended for experimental workers with interests in the basic theory. While the topics covered are many, it was planned to place special emphasis on both static structure and dynamics, including electronic transport. This emphasis is evident from the rather complete coverage of the determination of static structure from both diffraction experiments and, for amorphous solids especially, from model building. The theory of the structure of liquids and liquid mixtures is then dealt with from the standpoint of, first, basic statistical mechanics and, subsequently, pair potentials constructed from the electron theory of simple metals and their alloys. The discussion of static structure is completed in two chapters with rather different emphases on liquid surfaces and interfaces. The first deals with the basic statistical mechanics of neutral and charged interfaces, while the second is concerned with solvation and double-layer effects. Dynamic structure is introduced by a comprehensive discussion of single-particle motion in liquids. This is followed by the structure and dynamics of charged fluids, where again much basic statistical mechanics is developed.

This volume and its two companion volumes, entitled Tetrahedrally-Bonded Amorphous Semiconductors and Localization and Metal-Insulator Transitions, are our way of paying special tribute to Sir Nevill Mott and to express our heartfelt wishes to him on the occasion of his eightieth birthday. Sir Nevill has set the highest standards as a physicist, teacher, and scientific leader. Our feelings for him include not only the respect and admiration due a great scientist, but also a deep affection for a great human being, who possesses a rare combination of outstanding personal qualities. We thank him for enriching our lives, and we shall forever carry cherished memories of this noble man. This one honoring Sir Nevill fills three volumes, with literally hundreds of authors meeting a strict deadline. Die Asiatische Banise war einer der erfolgreichsten Barockromane und der meistgelesene deutschsprachige Roman vor Goethes Werther. Dem Erstdruck von 1689 folgten im 18. Jahrhundert neun weitere Auflagen sowie eine „neue ganz verbesserte Ausgabe“. Die enorme Popularität des Romans spiegelt sich zudem in einer Vielzahl von Rezeptionsdokumenten ‑ darunter mehrere Bühnenfassungen sowie eine Fortsetzung des Romans ‑ und Übersetzungen ins Schwedische, Russische, Niederländische und Französische. Die vorliegende Edition bietet erstmals eine historisch-kritische Edition des Texts der Erstausgabe unter Berücksichtigung der wirkungsgeschichtlich bedeutsamen Folgedrucke sowie einen umfassenden Kommentar, in dem die zahlreichen historiographischen und poetischen Quellen des Romans detailliert nachgewiesen werden.

Der Kommentar versucht, das Buch Josua in dem Rahmen zu verstehen, für den es in seiner kanonischen Gestalt geschrieben wurde: Tora und Propheten.'Josua'ist das Ergebnis von politischen und theologischen Kontroversen um die Auslegung der Tora und das Verhältnis Israels zu seinem Gott und zu seinem Land, die vom ausgehenden 7. bis zum Anfang des 4. Jh. v. Chr. in Jerusalem geführt wurden. Das Buch dokumentiert die Diskussion, aus der es entstand, und lässt Positionen in ihrer Gegensätzlichkeit stehen. Darum sind die Spannungen und Widersprüche des Textes mitzulesen, nicht wegzuerklären. Bibelwissenschaftliche Theorien zur Entstehung des Buches hingegen sind kein Selbstzweck und werden nur in dem Masse angeführt, in dem sie zum Verständnis des vorliegenden Textes beitragen.

This is a study of the religious controversy that broke out with Martin Luther, from the vantage of church property. The controversy eventually produced a Holy Roman Empire of two churches. This is not an economic history. Rather, the book shows how acceptance of confiscation was won, and how theological advice was essential to the success of what is sometimes called a crucial if early stage of confessional state-building. It reviews the character of sacred property in the late Middle Ages, surveys confiscations in Reformation Germany on illustrative examples, summarizes the League of Schmalkalden's defense of confiscations, systematically studies theological memoranda that shaped a common policy in the League, and shows the role of that common position in religious politics.
