- Abstract
The definitive comprehensive photographic field guide to the larger mammals of continental South AmericaSouth America's wide range of habitats support a tremendous diversity of plants and animals, including more than 400 species of larger mammals—those the size of a guinea pig or bigger. Many are truly iconic: Jaguar, Puma, Ocelot and numerous other beautiful cats; the fantastic Maned Wolf; the incomparable Giant Anteater; and an incredible variety of extraordinary primates. This groundbreaking guide provides detailed coverage of these and many other wonderful mammals, including porcupines and peccaries; squirrels, sloths, skunks and seals; opossums, olingos and otters; armadillos, agoutis and Andean Bear; and viscachas and Vicuña—not to mention tapirs and river and estuarine dolphins. The species accounts include a description of key features and information on subspecies, comparisons with similar species that overlap in range, details of the habitats in which the species occurs, a summary of its distribution in South America and information on its conservation status. Each species is illustrated with carefully selected photos, or artwork where suitable photos were not available.Detailed coverage of 420 speciesShowcases over 550 stunning photos, many of rarely photographed speciesFeatures specially commissioned artwork for almost 100 species, including comparative plates of all marmosets and titi monkeysIncludes up-to-date distribution maps

3. Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy with Adolescents : College Student Development and Treatment

- Abstract
In this book, Philip Rosenbaum and Richard Webb consider the complexities of working as counselors and psychotherapists for college students, and offer a broad and detailed account of the developmental issues essential to understanding adolescent experience.Drawing on existentialism, cultural psychology and relational and object relations theories in psychoanalysis, this book offers a perspective that is sensitive to both clinical concerns and the broader context of college counseling and working with adolescents. Particular attention is paid to the emergence of adolescent identities through a relationship with'otherness,'and several considerations are explored as a result. These include the emergence and reconciliation of destructive feelings, suicidal phenomenology and the effects of trauma. By taking a fresh look at clinical developmental theories as they affect adolescents and young adults, Rosenbaum and Webb provide a view of college-student development that is theoretically rich and clinically applicable in a way that warrants renewed appreciation and practice among counselors, psychotherapists and psychoanalysts working with college-age clients.

- Abstract
Since the notion was introduced by Gromov in the 1980s, hyperbolicity of groups and spaces has played a significant role in geometric group theory; hyperbolic groups have good geometric properties that allow us to prove strong results. However, many classes of interest in our exploration of the universe of finitely generated groups contain examples that are not hyperbolic. Thus we wish to go'beyond hyperbolicity'to find good generalisations that nevertheless permit similarly strong results. This book is the ideal resource for researchers wishing to contribute to this rich and active field. The first two parts are devoted to mini-courses and expository articles on coarse median spaces, semihyperbolicity, acylindrical hyperbolicity, Morse boundaries, and hierarchical hyperbolicity. These serve as an introduction for students and a reference for experts. The topics of the surveys (and more) re-appear in the research articles that make up Part III, presenting the latest results beyond hyperbolicity.

Publisher's Note: Products purchased from 3rd Party sellers are not guaranteed by the Publisher for quality, authenticity, or access to any online entitlements included with the product. In clear and concise language, Fundamentals of High-Resolution Lung CT, provides a straightforward guide to understanding the high-resolution lung CT (HRCT) assessment of diffuse lung diseases. You will learn to accurately interpret HRCT findings, and how those findings can translate into the correct diagnosis or appropriate differential diagnosis. This volume includes over 600 images we consider classic, many of which have been updated and improved to facilitate easier reading and more precise interpretation.

- Abstract
High Resoultion CT of the lung is the market leading reference for HRCT of the lung. Its easy-to-use format includes illustrated'quick-reference guide'to help readers navigate the text along with diagnostic algorithms and numerous tables to identify key findings, abbreviations used, and other essential information. The book guides the reader through the details of the numerous HRCT findings and their differential diagnosis and reviews characteristics of the common lung diseases. Discussion includes normal anatomy, HRCT findings, multiple examples of disease entities, radiologic-pathologic correlations, and rare diseases and their differential diagnosis.

- Abstract
This book is a summary of my outlook towards my beloved field of ornamental horticulture,'the good, the bad, and the ugly.'This field of study is not just about throwing pretty plants together, but it is a process of creating a beautiful theme that comes from careful and professional planning. Ornamental Horticulture is not just art and decoration, but it is part of Science that includes agriculture, botany, entomology, plant pathology, soil science, and ecology. It likewise involves the three great fields of landscape architecture & design, arboriculture, and landscape maintenance. This book deals with the manifestation of horticulture in the Eastern & Midwestern United States.

- Abstract
Fundamentals of High Resolution Lung CT presents a simple and concise approach to the HRCT diagnosis of diffuse lung disease. It is simple and straightforward and covers similar material presented in “High-Resolution CT of the Lung”, in a brief and approachable format. The chapters and illustrations are based upon, and demonstrate, the fundamental observations, rules, shortcuts, thought patterns and differential diagnosis used in every day clinical practice. This content is intended to review your basic and practical understanding of the lung diseases commonly assessed using HRCT.

- Abstract
Until the middle of the present century, the morphology and function of the thymus were primarily of interest to those working in the fields of pathologic anatomy, endo crinology, and pediatrics. However, during recent decades careful and refined histo logic studies of the organ have expanded our knowledge. It now seems certain that the thymus plays a central role in the immune system, and some of the substances pro duced by this organ are considered together under the collective term of'thymic hor mones'. In clinical medicine (in particular endocrinology and pediatrics, as well as surgery and radiologic oncology), the startling advances that have taken place in radiologic diagnostics with the advent of new imaging procedures such as computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging have provided fresh impetus in the search for effec tive treatments for hyperplasia, tumors, and tumor-like changes of the thymus. Normal variants of the thymus, which lies concealed within the anterior superior mediastinum, have been recorded, and pathologic changes such as primary or secondary tumors can now be analyzed and correctly diagnosed.

- Abstract
The physics of disordered systems has enjoyed a resurgence of interest in the last decade. New concepts such as weak localization, interaction effects and Coulomb gap, have been developed for the transport properties of metals and insulators. With the fabrication of smaller and smaller samples and the routine availability of low temperatures, new physics has emerged from the studies of small devices. The new field goes under the name'mesoscopic physics'and has rapidly developed, both experimentally and theoretically. This book is designed to review the current status of the field. Most of the chapters in the book are devoted to the development of new ideas in the field. They include reviews of experimental observations of conductance fluctuations and the Aharonov-Bohm oscillations in disordered metals, theoretical and experimental work on low frequency noise in small disordered systems, transmittancy fluctuations through random barriers, and theoretical work on the distribution of fluctuation quantities such as conductance. Two chapters are not connected directly to the mesoscopic fluctuations but deal with small systems. They cover the effects of Coulomb interaction in the tunneling through the small junctions, and experimental results on ballistic transport through a perfect conductor.

- Abstract
Widely recognised as a standard text for both students and practising professionals alike, Inside the Caring Services provides an'insiders view'of the structure and organisation of the caring services in the UK. The roles, functions and responsibilities of the main statutory bodies, plus those in the voluntary sector and private organisations, are examined in detail. The second edition has been radically rewritten in response to new legislation and developments with NVQ. The attractive, accessible style of the first edition has been maintained and a practical emphasis is provided by exercises and role plays drawn from recent practice.
