This book of peer-reviewed short papers on methodological and applied statistics and demography is the fourth of four volumes from the 52nd Scientific Meeting of the Italian Statistical Society (SIS 2024), held in Bari, Italy, on June 17-20, 2024. It features the second part of the contributions presented in the Contributed Sessions. The volumes address a large number of topics and applications of current interest. The topics covered include, but are not limited to, statistical theory and methods, sampling theory, Bayesian statistics, statistical modeling, computational statistics, classification, data analysis, gender statistics and applied statistics. The applications reflect new analyses in a wide variety of fields, including demography, psychometrics, education, business, economics, finance, law, and other social sciences and humanities, epidemiology, the life and health sciences as well as the environmental and natural sciences and engineering. This variety also demonstrates the important role of statistical science in addressing the societal and environmental challenges of sustainable development. One of the aims of the Italian Statistical Society (SIS) is to promote scientific activities for the development of statistical sciences. This book uncovers how fascism reshaped Italian society according to its ideological and historical interpretation of the Italian nation and people and identifies the strengths of this transformation, but also the resistance encountered from, for example, women and minority groups, to accept it in everyday life. It analyzes the success achieved by some policies aimed at popular masses in order to integrate them into the nation, and how fascism initiated an early welfare state project to address specific categories of society such as veterans, families, mothers and children. The book also questions the concept and practices of social citizenship reserved only for those who gave evidence of formal adherence to fascism.

'Irredentismo'è una delle parole chiave delle moderne religioni della patria. Numerosi sono stati i movimenti di liberazione nel mondo che sono stati definiti in questo modo. Il termine però è nato in Italia, in riferimento alle terre dominate dagli Asburgo, fra cui quelle adriatiche, che sono state al centro di uno dei più duraturi e cruenti terreni di scontro. Lungo la frontiera orientale infatti gli irredentismi si sono succeduti nel corso di un secolo convulso: prima quello italiano fino alla Grande guerra, poi quello sloveno e quello croato durante il fascismo, poi ancora quello italiano dopo la Seconda guerra mondiale, per cercar di salvare Trieste e l'Istria. Gli irredentismi adriatici erano fieramente antagonisti, ma hanno condiviso spesso linguaggi e comportamenti. Il grande affresco di Antonio De Rossi su La costruzione delle Alpi, iniziato con la pubblicazione del volume Immagini e scenari del pittoresco alpino (1773-1914), trova pieno compimento in questo secondo volume dedicato al modernismo alpino (1917-2017), qui pubblicato in una nuova edizione. L'opera rappresenta un inedito sguardo sull'universo delle Alpi, indagato nel suo emergere come autonomo soggetto di storia e inteso come l'insieme delle sue componenti materiali e simboliche, delle sue «trasformazioni» e delle sue «rappresentazioni». Lo spazio montano è analizzato a partire dai due fenomeni che ne hanno occupato la scena durante il Novecento: da un lato, l'esplosione del turismo, con i suoi processi di infrastrutturazione e urbanizzazione, con l'invenzione delle stazioni invernali e dell'architettura moderna alpina, con il consumo sciistico e automobilistico della montagna e la nuova idea di salute e di organizzazione del tempo libero; dall'altro, lo spopolamento, con la dissoluzione dei modi di vivere storici e l'abbandono delle aree vallive, e con il tentativo di determinare nuove funzioni e progettualità. In 2020, the Vatican opened its archives for the pontificate of Pius XII (1939-1958), the pope that led the Catholic Church during WWII, the Holocaust, and the beginning of the Cold War. The Global Pontificate of Pius XII brings together historians who were among the first to consult the previously unseen Vatican materials. These long-awaited records allow for an expansion of the current historiography beyond the pope's biography. Confronting the Nation brings together twelve of celebrated historian George L. Contudo, ao mudar-se o prisma analisado, evidencia-se que a alteração substancial atinge de forma mais relevante ao emprego (espécie) e não ao trabalho (gênero). Aquele, padrão social dos tempos analógicos, não se enquadra nos valores da pós-modernidade, de modo que as novas atividades laborais exigem um padrão relacional e normativo mais maleável. Buscam-se, então, habilidades e competências para além do nível de escolaridade e conjunto de diplomações formais (hard skills), apontando-se habilidades transversais, éticas e atitudinais como o novo necessário. Em outras palavras, transmuta-se a empregabilidade para trabalhabilidade. É a partir desse conceito multidisciplinar que se vislumbra a tutela do trabalho humano, bem como o pleno desenvolvimento do homem, para que permaneça ativo no mercado de trabalho em tempos pós-modernos, bem como alcance a vida digna.

Te pierwsze poświęcone są szczególnie nauczaniu języka włoskiego w różnych kontekstach, a także wpływowi języka polskiego na język włoski czy językowej polityce faszyzmu. This volume explores the part played by different metals in use from the fourth millennium BC to the Early Iron Age, not only in the Aegean but also in the wider Old World. AVANTI! Leben und Werk Benito Mussolinis sind in einer umfangreichen Literatur beschrieben worden, doch die entscheidenden zehn Monate seines Lebens, vom 28. Juni bis zum 24. Mai 1915, haben 1935, als die Inauguraldissertation von Hans E. Pappenheim publiziert wurde, noch keine zusammenhängende Darstellung gefunden. Eine solche musste auch Fragment bleiben, da zum Zeitpunkt dieser Publikation die Bände des »Avanti!«, die Zeitung der Sozialistischen Partei Italiens (PSI), mit einer lückenlosen Übersicht der Artikel aus Mussolinis sozialistischer Zeit in Deutschland fehlen und die Benutzung, der in Italien noch vorhandenen nicht möglich war. Der knapp dreißigjährige Mussolini gelangte an die Spitze des ganzen italienischen Sozialismus. Die Zeitung »Avanti!« und die gesamte Bewegung erlangten eine extreme Bedeutung. Typisch war Mussolinis Anfang: »In dem Blatt, das ich redigiere, kann nur einer die Leitartikel schreiben – und der bin ich. Ein Blatt kann nur von einem Menschen und einer Idee geleitet werden. Ich bin nicht gekommen, um mir die Führung aus der Hand nehmen zu lassen.« Und schon stieg die Auflage des »Avanti!«Viele Frauen haben von jungen Jahren an Mussolinis Leben begleitet und bestimmt – auch wenn er das naturgemäß anders sah. Die Jüdin Angelica Balabanoff beschreibt einen Mann, der Angst vor Hunden hatte, Angst vor Ärzten, Angst vor Friedhöfen und Angst davor, im Dunkeln alleine auf die Straße zu gehen. Von 1912 bis 1917 gehörte Balabanoff der Führung der Sozialistischen Partei an und trat Ende 1912 zusammen mit Benito Mussolini in die Leitung der Zeitung »Avanti!« ein. Sie war die erste der beiden intellektuellen jüdischen Liebhaberinnen des zukünftigen Duce; die zweite Margherita Grassini Sarfatti, genannt »Signora di Milano«. Auszüge aus ihrer Publikation »Mussolini. Lebensgeschichte« von 1926, erzählen über die Jugend und Anfänge Mussolinis, sein Bemühen und Streben, mit dem erklärten Ziel, politische Macht zu erlangen. Sarfattis größte Bedeutung liegt jedoch in ihren kunsttheoretischen Schriften und in der Unermüdlichkeit, mit der sie besonders junge, noch unbekannte Maler unterstützt und bekannt macht. In dem Klima der Bejahung von Schönheit und Harmonie im Gegensatz zu den Dissonanzen der kubistischen, expressionistischen und futuristischen Kunst, wird Margherita Sarfatti die Sprecherin einer Gruppe von sieben Künstlern sein, u. a. Mario Sironi. Diese Künstler, die sich in Lino Pesaros Galerie 1922 in Mailand trafen, um sich unter dem Namen »Novecento« zu vereinen.Das Schicksal der »Amante« von Benito Mussolini: Clara ›Claretta‹ Petacci. Sie wurde von allen als seine »Geliebte und Profiteurin« betrachtet und konnte eine Situation nicht ertragen, die sie ausgrenzte und benachteiligte, daher setzte sie Mussolini öfter unter Druck, seine Frau Rachele zu verlassen. Mussolini schien diesem Vorschlag zuzustimmen, unternahm dann aber nichts und Petacci schickte ihm, vor allem von Februar bis April 1945 feurige Briefe, in denen sie ihn als Mann herabwürdigte und einen Egoisten, einen Schwächling, einen Feigling nannte. Dennoch war es sie, die bedingungslos an seiner Seite blieb und mit ihm am 28. April 1945 von Partisanen in Giulino di Mezzegra am Comer See hingerichtet wurde.Nicht zu vergessen sei Mussolinis Ehefrau Rachele Guidi, die einfache Frau mit hellem Verstand und das blieb sie auch als »First Lady« ihres Landes. Es ist der private Mensch, der Familienvater, den Rachele realistisch und nicht ohne Humor, uns in ihren Erinnerungen »Mussolini ohne Maske« 1974 in Auszügen schildert. Sie wohnte bis zu ihrem Lebensende in dem Haus in Forlì, dass ihr Mussolini kaufte, als er noch nicht der »Duce« war.
