This book constitutes the proceedings of the 19th International Conference on Unconventional Computation and Natural Computation, UCNC 2021, held in Espoo, Finland, in October 2021. The 12 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 19 submissions. The UCNC conference series covers fundamental research into computation that goes beyond the standard Turing model, including both computational models and methods inspired by nature, and the computational characteristics natural processes.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the 7th International Workshop on Algorithms for Sensor Systems, Wireless Ad Hoc Networks, and Autonomous Mobile Entities, ALGOSENSORS 2011, held in Saarbrücken, Germany, in September 2011. The 16 revised full papers presented together with two invited keynote talks were carefully reviewed and selected from 31 submissions. The papers are organized in two tracks: sensor networks, covering topics such as localization, lifetime maximization, interference control, neighbor discovery, self-organization, detection, and aggregation; and ad hoc wireless and mobile systems including the topics: routing, scheduling and capacity optimization in the SINR model, continuous monitoring, and broadcasting.

For many years Esko Ukkonen has played a major role in the advancement of computer science in Finland. He was the key person in the development of the school of algorithmic research and has contributed considerably to post-graduate education in his country. Esko Ukkonen has over the years worked within many areas of computer science, including numerical methods, complexity theory, theoretical aspects of compiler construction, and logic programming. However, the main focus of his research has been on algorithms and their applications. This Festschrift volume, published to honor Esko Ukkonen on his 60th birthday, includes 18 refereed contributions by his former PhD students and colleagues, with whom he has cooperated closely during the course of his career. The Festschrift was presented to Esko during a festive symposium organized at the University of Helsinki to celebrate his birthday. The essays primarily present research on computational pattern matching and string algorithms, two areas that have benefited significantly from the work of Esko Ukonen.
