7. Gottes Offenbarung : Christologie

- Abstract
Gott hat sich in Jesus Christus geoffenbart! Das bekennt und verkündigt der christliche Glaube seit 2000 Jahren. Was sagt er damit?

- Abstract
This volume explores in detail the molecular biology, genetics and immunology of the bacterium Helicobacter pylori that causes serious gastric diseases such as gastric cancer. The book provides in-depth insights into the mechanisms of H. pylori-induced pathogenicity, gives an overview of how the bacterium colonizes the human gut, how it manages to persist in the body and which factors play a role in the development of H. pylori-induced gastric cancer. Furthermore, the interaction between the Gram-negative bacterium and the human gut microbiome is explored, and clinical management and treatment strategies to combat gastric cancer are discussed.Helicobacter pylori is an extremely successful pathogen that persistently colonizes the gut of about 50% of the world's population. H. pylori and its human host share a long co-evolutionary relationship that dates back for at least last 100,000 years and possibly longer. Infection by thisbacterium is a high-risk factor for the development of gastric diseases, including gastric cancer. Gastric cancer is associated with high morbidity and mortality and represents the 5th most common malignant tumour and the 4th leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. H. pylori is the first bacterium that has been classified as a type-I carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). Recent research progress identified crucial bacterial, host and environmental factors which control H. pylori-induced gastric malignancy. New studies also suggest that specific human germline mutations and other genetic aberrations have an important impact on H. pylori-induced pathology. In this volume, all these recently discovered mechanisms are reviewed in the light of gastric cancer development, and H. pylori epidemiology, virulence factors, immune evasion, pathophysiology, cancer signalling and novel therapeutic protocols are presented. This volume is aimed at researchers in the fields of immunology, genetics, microbiology and medicine who are interested in the detailed mechanisms of the pathogenicity of this carcinogenic stomach bacterium.

- Abstract
Dancing on the Sun Stone is a uniquely transdisciplinary work that fuses modern Latin American history and literature to explore women's lives and gendered politics in Mexico. In this important work, scholar Marjorie Becker focuses on the complex Mexican women of rural Michoacán who performed an illicit revolutionary dance and places it in dialogue with Nobel Prize winner Octavio Paz's signature poem, “Sun Stone”—allowing a new gendered history to emerge.Through this dialogue, the women reveal intimate and intellectual complexities of Mexican women's gendered voices, their histories, and their intimate and public lives. The work further demonstrates the ways these women, in dialogue with Paz, transformed history itself. Becker's multigenre work reconstructs Mexican history through the temporal experiences of crucial Michoacán females, experiences that culminate in their complex revolutionary dance, which itself emerges as a transformative revolutionary language.

In so doing, the book systemically introduces and discusses concepts, classifications, phenotypic and functional descriptions of regulatory T (Treg) cells in health and disease. The authors of the 15 chapters were selected from among the most qualified experts in the field of Treg cell research who provide a comprehensive overview of Treg cells and their biology in the ensuing chapters. The beginning chapters provide a useful contemporary classification of Treg cell populations and then progress to chapters that explore basic mechanisms of Treg cell function and epigenetic control. In addition to descriptions of typical CD4+ Foxp3+ cells, other chapters provide detailed presentations of Treg subsets such as CD8+ Tregs and IL-10-producing Tr1 cells. The differences of various Treg subsets, as well as circulating and resident Treg cell populations, are next compared. Importantly, the next chapters provide the clinical correlation of Treg cells with autoimmune diseases, inflammatory diseases, metabolic diseases, cancer and organ transplantation and progress to chapters that highlight emerging innovative technology including nanoparticle-Treg cells and their translational values. In summary, the book will provide a valuable resource not only for graduate students and researchers in the fields of immunology, cell biology and translational medicine but also for all others interested in learning more about Treg cells and their application in human health and disease.

- Abstract
This book gives a solution to the problem of constructing lightwave paths in free spaces by proposing the concept of a Self-Organized Lightwave Network (SOLNET). This concept enables us to form self-aligned coupling optical waveguides automatically. SOLNETs are fabricated by self-focusing of lightwaves in photosensitive media, in which the refractive index increases upon light beam exposure, to realize the following functions: 1) Optical solder: Self-aligned optical couplings between misaligned devices with different core sizes 2) Three-dimensional optical wiring 3) Targeting lightwaves onto specific objects SOLNETs are expected to reduce the efforts to implement lightwaves into electronic systems and allow us to create new architectures, thus reducing costs and energy dissipation and improving overall system performance. SOLNETs are also expected to be applied to a wide range of fields where lightwaves are utilized, for example, solar energy conversion systems and biomedical technologies, especially photo-assisted cancer therapies. Readers will systematically learn concepts and features of SOLNETs, SOLNET performance predicted by computer simulations, experimental demonstrations for the proof of concepts, and expected applications. They will also be prepared for future challenges of the applications. This book is intended to be read by scientists, engineers, and graduate students who study advanced optoelectronic systems such as optical interconnects within computers and optical networking systems, and those who produce new ideas or strategies on lightwave-related subjects.

- Abstract
In this compilation, the authors open with a discussion on lectins, carbohydrate-binding proteins which are widely present in living organisms and participate in molecular recognition and intracellular functions. Due to their carbohydrate specificity, lectins can be employed as an analytical tool to study glycan structures on glycoconjugates. Plant lectins have also been used to study glycosylation pattern of animal glycoproteins. The first chapter includes a brief review on lectins, a summary of the general information on glycoconjugate, a review on lectin-affinity techniques and their potential, as well as perspectives of the employment of lectins in the estimation of the glycosylation pattern of glycoconjugates. Next, the authors discuss the cytokine interleukin-7 and its many diverse and important functions in the development and maintenance of immune cells. For haematopoiesis, depending on particular cell type, IL-7 is important for cell survival, proliferation and differentiation. The cytokine's receptor is expressed by early progenitors of B, T lymphocytes and Innate Lymphoid Cells, and IL-7 signaling is critical for the generation of these cells. The authors go on to examine enzyme therapy as a modern way of providing better protection for people with coeliac disease and sensitivity to gluten who have been placed solely on a lifelong gluten-free diet. By itself, the gluten-free diet is not always fully protective of the small intestine because small amounts of gluten can be present from contamination and the failure to recognize “hidden gluten” in food. This chapter explains how certain supplements are able to help those with gluten sensitivity overcome the harmful effects of gluten and reduce the worry about contamination of their food and the lack of knowledge about its gluten content. These supplements represent an important development of the gluten-free diet and will assist in patient management to ensure that patients remain free from the effects of gluten. Later, adrenergic urticarial, a well-defined-yet-neglected variant of urticarial, is discussed. It is characterized by a peculiar clinical picture, with small hives surrounded by white haloes due to local vasoconstriction. Lastly, the authors discuss how abnormalities in physical properties of the cell membranes may be strongly linked to cerebro- and cardiovascular diseases. Recent evidence indicates that increased plasma levels of tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a), an inflammatory cytokine, may actively participate in the pathophysiology of endothelial dysfunction, hypertension and other circulatory disorders. The present study was performed to investigate the possible relationships among plasma TNF-a, asymmetric dimethylarginine and membrane fluidity in hypertensive and normotensive subjects using an electron spin resonance (ESR)-spectrometry.
