Excavations on the Magdalensberg in Carinthia, Southern Austria brought to light a large number of thinwalled pottery, Feinware, pareti sottili, parois fines, paredes finas. The finds from the 1948-1970 excavations mostly imported drinking vessels from Northern Italy are studied in a typological and chronological order. First a chapter sets the chronological frame offered by reliable dating complexes. To accomplish this, 30 contexts are examined and divided into a 3 period 7 phase system. The short life of the site from 50 BC to 50 AD permits a dating range of less than 20 years for most of the shapes. Typological classification of the roughly 150 shapes present is based on the distinction of 10 different fabric groups. Quantification studies, reflections on provenience, intended use and production techniques round up the research. Two supplement papers of 1998 and 2012 take into account the state of the art. Das größtenteils aus Norditalien importierte Tischgeschirr wird anhand der Funde von 1948 bis 1970 typologisch und chronologisch geordnet vorgestellt. Zuerst wird der Periodisierungsrahmen datierender Komplexe als Grundlage der Datierungen besprochen. Dazu werden 30 Kontexte in 3 aufeinanderfolgenden Perioden, insgesamt 7 Phasen ausgewertet. Die kurze Belegdauer der Stadt auf dem Magdalensberg von circa 50 v. Chr. bis circa 50 n. Chr. erlaubt eine Feindatierung der meisten Funde auf knapp 20 Jahre. Die Sequenz von 10 Fabrikaten, innerhalb derer formal unterteilt wird, ergibt knapp 150 Formen. Vor der Besprechung der werden Gesamtzahlen werden weiterführende Überlegungen zu Herkunft, Verwendungszweck und Herstellungsverfahren angestellt. Though titled the Proceedings of the 1st Annual Appalachian Studies Conference, this volume contains the speeches and papers of the Southern Appalachian Regional Conference held May 13-16, 1974 at the Center for Continuing Education at Appalachian State University. Governor James E. Holshouser, Jr. of North Carolina; John B. Howard, American Petroleum Institute; and Cratis Williams, Acting Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Appalachian State University each spoke at the opening banquet. The primary topics of the conference were energy, land use, and the human spirit. The conference was sponsored by the Appalachian Consortium and was a part of Project Open of the United States Office of Education.

Excavations on the Magdalensberg in Carinthia, Southern Austria yielded a large number of moulded vessles of the group Norditlaica decorate, best known under the mane of the most frequent brandnames Acobeakers or Sariuscups. The research starts with the tsypological analysis following shapes, dies, decoration patterns and decorative topics. Dating results are provided following the stratigraphic contexts of the sites 100 years life and can be divided into 3 periods with a total of 7 phases secured by 40 reference contexts. Quantifications offer the base for this while . Further aspects, like production techniques, conclusions offered by workshops owner’s names, different fabrics and their provenience are studied. A comprehensive catalogue of all finds from 1948 to 1979 completes the text volume, while the plates volume shows drawings, photographs and a die catalogue as well as a chronological assemblage of the examined finds. Monographisch aufgearbeitet wird das Material zunächst typologisch erfasst. Nach Grundformen und Punzen analysiert, werden Komposition, Themenkreise und Dekorationstypen untersucht. Anhand der datierenden Fundorte, die eine Periodisierung in 7 Phasen im Lauf der 100 Jahre dauernden Besiedlung der Stadt in drei aufeinanderfolgenden Perioden gestatten, wird die chronologische Auswertung der Funde anhand von 40 Fundpunkten, gefolgt von einer Quantifizierung durchgeführt. Es wird auf Herstellung, Namensmaterial sowie die Fabrikate und ihre Herkunft eingegangen. Ein durchgehender Katalog aller Funde von 1948-1979 vervollständigt den Textband. Alle relevanten Funde sind im Tafelband formenkundlich und in ihrer Zeitstellung erfasst. Dieser enthält auch einen Punzenkatalog. This volume contains two papers which use the ozone problem as the empirical starting of their analysis. Gladwin/Ugelow/Walter survey empirically the sectors of the economy which produce fluorcarbons. The regional origin of fluorcarbons in the world and possible international ozone management strategies (e.g. interactions between the USA and Europe) are discussed. Pethig attacks the issue of ozone management from a theoretical aspect and uses game theory in order to discuss potential solutions.

This volume brings together 8 previously unpublished papers dealing with various modes of allocating jointly consumable goods (i.e. public goods). The issues covered range from voluntary contributions and price exclusion (market allocation) to positive and normative analyses of different political allocation procedures for public goods. Given this wide spectrum of allocative schemes for public goods there does not seem to be an easy and clear-cut message from modern public-goods theory to public allocation policy.

Excavations on the Magdalensberg in Carinthia, Southern Austria brought to light a huge amount of common wares that have to be divided for study. No parameters to be followed have as yet been fixed and therefore in a first chapter definitions are given on what type of material is used in the book. Red or buff fired liquid containers, mostly wheel turned in Italian workshops out of pretreated clays are dealt with. The chapter chronology approaches the problem form the 40 well defined contexts on different spots of the site, which in 100 years of life offers a division into 7 phases, to be regrouped in 3 periods between 50 BC and 50 AD. A discussion on the possibilities and limits of dating common or utilitarian pottery is included. Typological analysis distinguishes 5 groups, the main one being the Italic shapes and their Hellenistic predecessors. Next come the small transport containers, basically two handled jugs followed by the forms of Celtic inspiration, while a separate chapter combines the single and rare shapes. Some 25 pages are dedicated to the study of results and point out the rare stamps, inscriptions and marks. The plates show drawings and photographs in a typological catalogue as well as a chronological synoptic. Eindeutige Parameter fehlen bis heute, und so wird im Kapitel Definition die Gruppe eingegrenzt. Untersucht werden helltonige importierte Funde, grob in die Form Krug zu stellen und enger gefasst nach Herkunft, Verwendung und Rohmaterial sowie Fertigungstechniken klassifiziert. Im Anschluss daran wird im Kapitel Chronologie einerseits auf die zur Datierung verwendeten 40 Kontexte im Rahmen der 100 Jahre umfassenden Lebensspanne der Stadt zwischen 50 v. Chr und 50 n. Chr. eingegangen. Drei annähernd gleichlange Perioden werden in 7 Phasen geteilt.und ein theoretischer Ansatz zur Datierung von Gebrauchskeramik diskutiert. Die formenkundliche Auswertung gliedert sich in 5 Gruppen, deren umfangreichste die Italisch geprägten Typen und ihre hellenistischen Vorformen umfasst. Daneben sind kleinere Transportbehälter, meist doppelhenkelig keltisch inspirierte Formen vorhandene. Ein eigenes Kapitel fasst die auf dem Magdalensberg seltenen Formen zusammen. Knapp 25 Seiten sind der Gesamtauswertung gewidmet, in denen auch auf Stempel, Inschriften und Aufschriften eingegangen wird. Im Tafelteil werden die Formen katalogmäßig und chronologisch in Zeichnung und teilweise Foto dargestellt. This volume presents a sampling of papers devoted to different phenomena of Polish (and theoretical) morphology and syntax. The focus of attention of the Authors of the present volume is concentrated mostly on questions of syntactic and morphological analysis of Modern Standard Polish with exception of W. Mańczak's and (in part) G. Hentschel's articles, which take the diachronic perspective.

In this unusual and much-needed reappraisal of Freud's clinical technique, M. Guy Thompson challenges the conventional notion that psychoanalysis promotes relief from suffering and replaces it with a more radical assertion, that psychoanalysis seeks to mend our relationship with the real that has been fractured by our avoidance of the same. Thompson suggests that, while avoiding reality may help to relieve our experience of suffering, this short-term solution inevitably leads to a split in our existence. M. Guy Thompson forcefully disagrees with the recent trend that dismisses Freud as an historical figure who is out of step with the times. He argues, instead, for a return to the forgotten Freud, a man inherently philosophical and rooted in a Greek preoccupation with the nature of truth, ethics, the purpose of life and our relationship with reality. Thompson's argument is situated in a stunning re-reading of Freud's technical papers, including a new evaluation of his analyses of Dora and the Rat Man in the context of Heidegger's understanding of truth. In this remarkable examination of Freud's technical recommendations, M. Guy Thompson explains how psychoanalysis was originally designed to re-acquaint us with realities we had abandoned by encountering them in the contest of the analytic experience. This provocative examination of Freud's conception of psychoanalysis reveals a more personal Freud than we had previously supposed, one that is more humanistic and real.

The focus of this volume is on the European context of public budget policy and a variety of different approaches are used - theoretical modelling, econometrics and applied general equilibrium modelling. Empirical evidence and case studies of European countries are contained in all the papers. The papers cover the four general themes of public budget policy: * economic stabilization, in view of the Economic and Monetary Union in the European Community * reinforcing structural change, involved in market liberalization and harmonization of economic structures * its distributional effects and implications for social equity * endogenous economic growth.

The author of this thesis is aware that the above-mentioned contrastive studies deal extensively with the aspect and action type issues from their respective perspectives. Nevertheless, she has decided to take a stand on this topic herself. 1. The essay is a Germanic work that represents certain areas of the German language in contrast to Polish. 2. The aim of the work is a linguistic text analysis and not the description of the language systems. For the purposes of the essay, various texts have been selected and analyzed and described according to certain principles. Therefore, the results of the study are text corpus related. 3. The broad definition of aspectuality enables the comparison of different phenomena that are not only related to the verbal level but also take into account the contextual sentence and text levels. 4. Both translation directions Polish-German and German-Polish will be considered in the paper. Not only Polish, but also German original texts provide pertinent signals that need to be described and that can usually be found again in the translation., Die Verfasserin dieser Arbeit ist sich dessen bewusst, dass die oben erwähnten kontrastiven Untersuchungen die Aspekt- und Aktionsartproblematik aus ihrer jeweiligen Sicht ausführlich behandeln. Trotzdem hat sie sich entschieden, selbst Stellung zu diesem Thema zu nehmen. 1. Die Abhandlung ist eine germanistische Arbeit, die bestimmte Bereiche der deutschen Sprache im Kontrast zum Polnischen darstellt. 2. Das Ziel der Arbeit ist eine linguistische Textanalyse und nicht die Beschreibung der Sprachsysteme. Für die Zwecke der Abhandlung wurden verschiedene Texte ausgewählt und nach bestimmten Prinzipien analysiert und beschrieben. Von daher sind die Ergebnisse der Untersuchung textkorpusbezogen. 3. Die breite Definition der Aspektualität ermöglicht den Vergleich verschiedener Phänomene, die sich nicht nur auf die verbale Ebene beziehen, sondern auch die kontextuelle Satz- und Textebene berücksichtigen. 4. Beide Übersetzungsrichtungen Polnisch-Deutsch und Deutsch-Polnisch werden in der Abhandlung berücksichtigt. Nicht nur polnische, sondern auch deutsche Originaltexte liefern nämlich aspektuelle Signale, die es zu beschreiben gilt und die in der Regel auch in der Übersetzung wieder zu finden sind.

The range of perspectives and original materials dealt with by each author highlights the renewed urgency of the struggle for cultural autonomy and voice within the context of globalization. In other words, each paper explores how the various processes at both the local and global level intersect to create new discourses and debates round the »indigenization of knowledge.« If a new wind of cultural decolonization is blowing through the Arab Middle East, which is having profound impact on the lives of men and women, then we should expect a new scholarship to emerge in order to grasp and understand it. This book is a contribution in that direction.

Humanity From African Naissance to Coming Millennia arises out of the world's first Dual Congress that was held at Sun City (South Africa) in 1998 that refers to a conjoint, integrated meeting of two international scientific associations, the International Association for the Study of Human Palaeontology - IV Congress - and the International Association of Human Biologists. The volume includes 39 refereed papers covering a wide range of topics, from Human Biology, Human Evolution (Emerging Homo, Evolving Homo, Early Modern Humans), Dating, Taxonomy and Systematics, Diet, Brain Evolution, offering the most recent analyses and interpretations in different areas of evolutionary anthropology.

Twenty-five years after the death of one of the most refined and secluded writers of the second half of the 20th century, the complete catalogue of works and author papers in the Giuseppe Dessí Collection is available, thanks to the work and philological expertise of Agnese Landini. The filing of the material, deposited in the Contemporary Archives of the Gabinetto Vieusseux in Florence, allows to retrace the complete bibliography of the published and unpublished works of the Sardinian writer and, while telling the story of a narrative path through documents, it eases access to notes and drafts of novels, short stories, plays, anthologies, translations, essays, poems, interviews.

DC-2002 marks the tenth in the ongoing series of International Dublin Core Workshops, and the second that includes a full program of tutorials and peer-reviewed conference papers. Interest in Dublin Core metadata has grown from a small collection of pioneering projects to adoption by governments and international organizations worldwide. The greatest challenge of the current phase of metadata development is bringing together the diversity of local conventions, domain specific requirements, and different encoding conventions such taht cross-domain interoperability can be achieved.

Contents of the papers presented at the international workshop deal with the wide variety of new and computer-based techniques for production planning and control that has become available to the scientific and industrial world in the past few years: formal modeling techniques, artificial neural networks, autonomous agent theory, genetic algorithms, chaos theory, fuzzy logic, simulated annealing, tabu search, simulation and so on. The approach, while being scientifically rigorous, is focused on the applicability to industrial environment.

The objective of the meeting was to identify concrete ways for implementing proposals to foster the international scientific co-operation of universities and academic societies. Against the background of an assumed tendency towards knowledge monopolies, caused by the protection of intellectual property rights by a few publishers, the experts in the Conference discussed the potential of these academic e-presses for improving scientific article collection and treatment as well as facilitating the access to scientific knowledge. The papers in this volume can best be regarded as contributions to the areas of inquiry in a field that is continuing to change very rapidly.
