The article discusses the findings of a study which examined the effect of pediatric therapy protocols on adult patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The study, which was presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting held from May 30 to June 3, 2008, included 225 patients who were assigned to five-drug induction, high-dose-intensity consolidation blocks, delayed intensification and two-year drug maintenance. It found that pediatric protocol is effective in patients aged 45 years and below.
