The article discusses the merits of using carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions for other purposes. Carbon capture and storage (CCS), which is expected to have a large potential to reduce CO2 emissions, has been adopted by the European parliament and a directive has been put in place to establish a common legal basis for European technologies. CO2, with the implementation of CCS, becomes available in increasing quantities for potential use as raw material for chemical processes.
