Abstract

The article reports on the development of an adsorber that removes trace amounts of arsenic from drinking water by chemicals company Lanxess in Germany. The device combines a polymeric anion exchange resin with an iron oxide in a goethite structure. According to the article, arsenic is the only anionic component of water that has a high affinity to the fine, highly-reactive iron oxide layer.
