This article offers several tips and techniques related to library science. In order to assist patrons in selecting a children's magazine that is appropriate for the intended audience, Grand Rapids Public Library in Michigan maintain a file containing a sample issue of each children's magazine available in the U.S. Not only can patrons then have the opportunity to examine a magazine before they subscribe, but they also have access to subscription blanks that can be photocopied. According to Art Grady, regional reference specialist at Cuyahoga County Public Library in Maple Heights, Ohio, patrons using legal reference materials to study medical and dental malpractice frequently ask how to find a good malpractice attorney or for a source rating area malpractice attorneys. Library sources do not adequately this question, and telling the patron to find an attorney by word of mouth leaves much to be desired. In this situation, the local court system can be a resource. The patron can go to the county court docket room and look up the doctor or dentist they want to sue in the index to civil lawsuits. The patron who is willing to go to this effort may find an attorney who is already knowledgeable about the defendant and ready to proceed ably and efficiently.
