The article reports that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have issued joint statement on bedbugs following their alarming resurgence which may lead to an epidemic. EPA hosted its second National Bed Bug Summit in Washington, D.C. and developed a website about bedbugs. Common habitats of bedbugs are mattresses, chairs, nightstands and box springs. BASF has developed the pesticide chlorfenapyr and marketed under the name Phantom to kill bedbugs.
