This article presents a review of a university-level history textbook for Chinese students more than two decades in the making that studies historiography through the lens of Marxist theory. "Introduction to Historiography" was first published in China as a book under the direction of Beijing Normal University historian Bai Shouyi, and has since then been developed, through programs in which numerous college-level students have participated, into a book that explains Marxist theory--taking into account politics, ethnicity, and nationalities--in a clearly explicated fashion.
