Moral Reality and the Empirical Sciences, written by Thomas Pölzler Chapters three to six deal with four different contributions to the moral realism/anti-realism debate that substantially draw on scientific premises. As a matter of legitimate choice of focus, Pölzler refrains from discussing any philosophical issues arising from the particular attempts to construct science-based arguments for metaethical claims which he discusses in chapters three to six of the book. Jesse Prinz's version of sentimentalism, which Pölzler discusses here and which just is the position expressed in the conclusion of the argument, is compatible with moral realism. In R. D. Ingthorsson's provocative and carefully researched book, I McTaggart's Paradox i , the author aims to demonstrate that "practically every writer is guilty of some or other of the misunderstandings of McTaggart's paradox that I outline in this book" (p. 141). In Chapter 6 Ingthorsson reiterates his main objection to McTaggart's paradox and emphasizes the difference between McTaggart and B-theorists on the one hand, and A-theorists on the other hand. One also appreciates Cowen's willingness to explore lesser known players on the popular stage, who may not be as saleable as Einstein. Further, although Cowen does pivot in dozens of different directions, he always leaves one foot planted in the question of gravity, giving what could have been a confusing and tiring slog a solidity that keeps the reader going, gripped and clear.
