Contempo is actually the bullseye if it's beats you seek, with some supremely slow, sly grooves offset by delirious disco highlife cues. Vivid Underscores accordingly doesn't want for neatly delineated breaks - the subtle 5/8 of Crash Course is a particular pleasure - but with its intergalactic synth overlays and tense, brooding interludes where the drums drop out altogether, the overall mood suggests detectives circling the block to pick out a suspect in a cinema queue for Star Wars.
