Those meetings continued, as we know from a preface to the same record that Bo wrote in 1269.[3] Bi was Bo's contemporary, even though, in lineage terms, he was one generation Bo's junior. The earlier preface, therefore, essentially provided a genealogy chart for an extended five-generation family, and the latter for a lineage that consisted of at least ten generations. The preface does not tell us what the chart might have looked like, but versions of the chart extended to incorporate subsequent generations are available in extant genealogies and they show that the lineage traced descent only from Hao's great, great grandfather. The two essays show how rapidly the lineage building movement unfolded under the twin influence of the multi-line genealogy chart and land registration. [Extracted from the article]
