This article presents information about the book "Quartz, An Introduction to Crystalline Quartz," by Harold L. Dibble. Most of the photography in the book is by Jeff Scovil, with significant contributions by Sally Dibble and occasional photographs by other well-established mineral photographers. A specimen of faden quartz from Pakistan appears in the middle of the section on twinning as does a Japan-law twin from Madagascar. A discussion of the surfaces of quartz crystals appears last, after a section on quartz, gemstones and carvings, rather than with, perhaps, the discussion of growth mechanisms.
