In this paper we have considered generalized Emden-Fowler equation, \begin{equation*} y''(t)+\sigma t^\gamma y^\beta(t)=0, ~~~~~~~~t \in ]0,1[ \end{equation*} subject to the following boundary conditions \begin{equation*} y(0)=1,~y(1)=0;~~\&~~y(0)=1,~y'(1)=y(1), \end{equation*} where $\gamma,\beta$ and $\sigma$ are real numbers, $\gamma<-2$, $\beta>1$. We propsoed to solve the above BVPs with the aid of Haar wavelet coupled with quasilinearization approach as well as Newton-Raphson approach. We have also considered the special case of Emden-Fowler equation ($\sigma=-1$,$\gamma=\frac{-1}{2}$ and $\beta=\frac{3}{2}$) which is popularly, known as Thomas-Fermi equation. We have analysed different cases of generalised Emden-Fowler equation and compared our results with existing results in literature. In this paper we derive $7^{th}$ order convergent integration formula in time which is weakly $L$-stable. To derive the method we use, Newton Cotes formula, fifth-order Hermite interpolation polynomial approximation (osculatory interpolation) and sixth-order explicit backward Taylor's polynomial approximation. The vector form of this formula is used to solve Burger's equation which is one dimensional form of Navier-Stokes equation. We observe that the method gives high accuracy results in the case of inconsistencies as well as for small values of viscosity, e.g., $10^{-3}$. Computations are performed by using Mathematica 11.3. Stability and convergence of the schemes are also proved. To check the efficiency of the method we considered 6 test examples and several tables and figures are generated which verify all results of the paper., Comment: 19 pages, 14 figures

The existence and nonexistence of stationary radial solutions to the elliptic partial differential equation arising in the molecular beam epitaxy are studied. The fourth-order radial equation is non-self adjoint and has no exact solutions. Also, it admits multiple solutions. Furthermore, solutions depend on the size of the parameter. We show that solutions exist for small positive values of this parameter. For large positive values of this parameter, we prove the nonexistence of solutions. We establish the qualitative properties of the solutions and provide bounds for the values of this parameter, which help us to separate the existence from nonexistence. We propose a new numerical scheme to capture the radial solutions. The results show that the iterative method is of better accuracy, more convenient and efficient for solving BVPs, which have multiple solutions. We verify theoretical results by numerical results. The existence of numerical solutions to a fourth order singular boundary value problem arising in the theory of epitaxial growth is studied. An iterative numerical method is applied on a second order nonlinear singular boundary value problem which is the exact result of the reduction of this fourth order singular boundary value problem. It turns out that the existence or nonexistence of numerical solutions fully depends on the value of a parameter. We show that numerical solutions exist for small positive values of this parameter. For large positive values of the parameter, we find nonexistence of solutions. We also observe existence of solutions for negative values of the parameter and determine the range of parameter values which separates existence and nonexistence of solutions. This parameter has a clear physical meaning as it describes the rate at which new material is deposited onto the system. A social network grows over a period of time with the formation of new connections and relations. In recent years we have witnessed a massive growth of online social networks like Facebook, Twitter etc. So it has become a problem of extreme importance to know the destiny of these networks. Thus predicting the evolution of a social network is a question of extreme importance. A good model for evolution of a social network can help in understanding the properties responsible for the changes occurring in a network structure. In this paper we propose such a model for evolution of social networks. We model the social network as an undirected graph where nodes represent people and edges represent the friendship between them. We define the evolution process as a set of rules which resembles very closely to how a social network grows in real life. We simulate the evolution process and show, how starting from an initial network, a network evolves using this model. We also discuss how our model can be used to model various complex social networks other than online social networks like political networks, various organizations etc.., Comment: 5 pages, 8 figures, 2 algorithms
