Foundational models (FMs) have tremendous potential to revolutionize medical imaging. However, their deployment in real-world clinical settings demands extensive ethical considerations. This paper aims to highlight the ethical concerns related to FMs and propose a framework to guide their responsible development and implementation within medicine. We meticulously examine ethical issues such as privacy of patient data, bias mitigation, algorithmic transparency, explainability and accountability. The proposed framework is designed to prioritize patient welfare, mitigate potential risks, and foster trust in AI-assisted healthcare.

Multi-Agent Path Finding (MAPF) is a fundamental problem in robotics and AI, with numerous applications in real-world scenarios. One such scenario is filming scenes with multiple actors, where the goal is to capture the scene from multiple angles simultaneously. Here, we present a formation-based filming directive of task assignment followed by a Conflict-Based MAPF algorithm for efficient path planning of multiple agents to achieve filming objectives while avoiding collisions. We propose an extension to the standard MAPF formulation to accommodate actor-specific requirements and constraints. Our approach incorporates Conflict-Based Search, a widely used heuristic search technique for solving MAPF problems. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach through experiments on various MAPF scenarios in a simulated environment. Deployment of teams of aerial robots could enable large-scale filming of dynamic groups of people (actors) in complex environments for applications in areas such as team sports and cinematography. Toward this end, methods for submodular maximization via sequential greedy planning can enable scalable optimization of camera views across teams of robots but face challenges with efficient coordination in cluttered environments. Obstacles can produce occlusions and increase chances of inter-robot collision which can violate requirements for near-optimality guarantees. To coordinate teams of aerial robots in filming groups of people in dense environments, a more general view-planning approach is required. We explore how collision and occlusion impact performance in filming applications through the development of a multi-robot multi-actor view planner with an occlusion-aware objective for filming groups of people and compare with a formation planner and a greedy planner that ignores inter-robot collisions. We evaluate our approach based on five test environments and complex multi-actor behaviors. Compared with a formation planner, our sequential planner generates 14% greater view reward for filming the actors in three scenarios and comparable performance to formation planning on two others. We also observe near identical view rewards for sequential planning both with and without inter-robot collision constraints which indicates that robots are able to avoid collisions without impairing performance in the perception task. The detection of hate speech in political discourse is a critical issue, and this becomes even more challenging in low-resource languages. To address this issue, we introduce a new dataset named IEHate, which contains 11,457 manually annotated Hindi tweets related to the Indian Assembly Election Campaign from November 1, 2021, to March 9, 2022. We performed a detailed analysis of the dataset, focusing on the prevalence of hate speech in political communication and the different forms of hateful language used. Additionally, we benchmark the dataset using a range of machine learning, deep learning, and transformer-based algorithms. Our experiments reveal that the performance of these models can be further improved, highlighting the need for more advanced techniques for hate speech detection in low-resource languages. In particular, the relatively higher score of human evaluation over algorithms emphasizes the importance of utilizing both human and automated approaches for effective hate speech moderation. Our IEHate dataset can serve as a valuable resource for researchers and practitioners working on developing and evaluating hate speech detection techniques in low-resource languages. Overall, our work underscores the importance of addressing the challenges of identifying and mitigating hate speech in political discourse, particularly in the context of low-resource languages. Artificial intelligence (AI) methods hold immense potential to revolutionize numerous medical care by enhancing the experience of medical experts and patients. AI-based computer-assisted diagnosis and treatment tools can democratize healthcare by matching the clinical level or surpassing clinical experts. As a result, advanced healthcare services can be affordable to all populations, irrespective of demographics, race, or socioeconomic background. The democratization of such AI tools can reduce the cost of care, optimize resource allocation, and improve the quality of care. In contrast to humans, AI can uncover complex relations in the data from a large set of inputs and even lead to new evidence-based knowledge in medicine. However, integrating AI into healthcare raises several ethical and philosophical concerns, such as bias, transparency, autonomy, responsibility, and accountability. Here, we emphasize recent advances in AI-assisted medical image analysis, existing standards, and the significance of comprehending ethical issues and best practices for clinical settings. We cover the technical and ethical challenges and implications of deploying AI in hospitals and public organizations. We also discuss key measures and techniques to address ethical challenges, data scarcity, racial bias, lack of transparency, and algorithmic bias and provide recommendations and future directions.

With the advent of the IoT, AI, ML, and DL algorithms, the landscape of data-driven medical applications has emerged as a promising avenue for designing robust and scalable diagnostic and prognostic models from medical data. This has gained a lot of attention from both academia and industry, leading to significant improvements in healthcare quality. However, the adoption of AI-driven medical applications still faces tough challenges, including meeting security, privacy, and quality of service (QoS) standards. Recent developments in \ac{FL} have made it possible to train complex machine-learned models in a distributed manner and have become an active research domain, particularly processing the medical data at the edge of the network in a decentralized way to preserve privacy and address security concerns. To this end, in this paper, we explore the present and future of FL technology in medical applications where data sharing is a significant challenge. We delve into the current research trends and their outcomes, unravelling the complexities of designing reliable and scalable \ac{FL} models. Our paper outlines the fundamental statistical issues in FL, tackles device-related problems, addresses security challenges, and navigates the complexity of privacy concerns, all while highlighting its transformative potential in the medical field. Our study primarily focuses on medical applications of \ac{FL}, particularly in the context of global cancer diagnosis. We highlight the potential of FL to enable computer-aided diagnosis tools that address this challenge with greater effectiveness than traditional data-driven methods. Due to the current COVID-19 virus, which has already been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO), we are witnessing the greatest pandemic of the decade. Millions of people are being infected, resulting in thousands of deaths every day across the globe. Even it was difficult for the best healthcare-providing countries could not handle the pandemic because of the strain of treating thousands of patients at a time. The count of infections and deaths is increasing at an alarming rate because of the spread of the virus. We believe that innovative technologies could help reduce pandemics to a certain extent until we find a definite solution from the medical field to handle and treat such pandemic situations. Technology innovation has the potential to introduce new technologies that could support people and society during these difficult times. Therefore, this paper proposes the idea of using drones as a companion to tackle current and future pandemics. Our COROID drone is based on the principle of crowdsourcing sensors data of the public's smart devices, which can correlate the reading of the infrared cameras equipped on the COROID drones. To the best of our knowledge, this concept has yet to be investigated either as a concept or as a product. Ubiquitous sensors and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies have revolutionized the sports industry, providing new methodologies for planning, effective coordination of training, and match analysis post game. New methods, including machine learning, image and video processing, have been developed for performance evaluation, allowing the analyst to track the performance of a player in real-time. Following FIFA's 2015 approval of electronics performance and tracking system during games, performance data of a single player or the entire team is allowed to be collected using GPS-based wearables. Data from practice sessions outside the sporting arena is being collected in greater numbers than ever before. Realizing the significance of data in professional soccer, this paper presents video analytics, examines recent state-of-the-art literature in elite soccer, and summarizes existing real-time video analytics algorithms. We also discuss real-time crowdsourcing of the obtained data, tactical and technical performance, distributed computing and its importance in video analytics and propose a future research perspective.

Polyps are the predecessors to colorectal cancer which is considered as one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Colonoscopy is the standard procedure for the identification, localization, and removal of colorectal polyps. Due to variability in shape, size, and surrounding tissue similarity, colorectal polyps are often missed by the clinicians during colonoscopy. With the use of an automatic, accurate, and fast polyp segmentation method during the colonoscopy, many colorectal polyps can be easily detected and removed. The ``Medico automatic polyp segmentation challenge'' provides an opportunity to study polyp segmentation and build an efficient and accurate segmentation algorithm. We use the U-Net with pre-trained ResNet50 as the encoder for the polyp segmentation. The model is trained on Kvasir-SEG dataset provided for the challenge and tested on the organizer's dataset and achieves a dice coefficient of 0.8154, Jaccard of 0.7396, recall of 0.8533, precision of 0.8532, accuracy of 0.9506, and F2 score of 0.8272, demonstrating the generalization ability of our model.

A significant amount of converter-based generation is being integrated into the bulk electric power grid to fulfill the future electric demand through renewable energy sources, such as wind and photovoltaic. The dynamics of converter systems in the overall stability of the power system can no longer be neglected as in the past. Numerous efforts have been made in the literature to derive detailed dynamic models, but using detailed models becomes complicated and computationally prohibitive in large system level studies. In this paper, we use a data-driven, black-box approach to model the dynamics of a power electronic converter. System identification tools are used to identify the dynamic models, while a power amplifier controlled by a real-time digital simulator is used to perturb and control the converter. A set of linear dynamic models for the converter are derived, which can be employed for system level studies of converter-dominated electric grids.
