This document reports on a project whose goals were: (1) to define what is meant by cultural literacy and/or social and cultural literacy; (2) to provide examples of the skills, values, processes, knowledge, and cognitive abilities associated with cultural literacy; and (3) to suggest how cultural literacy may be fitted into the new core curriculum of Saskatchewan as a Common Essential Learning or in some other appropriate form. In order to achieve these goals the relevant literature in each of the following areas is reviewed: (1) cultural literacy; (2) the impact of culture on education; and (3) "what works." Substantial reference lists are included at the end of each of the sections. (DB)

The article discusses the report "How Brands Can Win in Online Grocery" by Professor David Hughes and Miguel Flavian which noted that online selling represents a huge opportunity for manufacturers to develop a better understanding of their shoppers and reach them directly. The authors argue that manufacturers are turning to the web to build direct relationships with consumers, offer new products and services and drive sales.
