Diffusion models have shown excellent performance on various image generation tasks, but the substantial computational costs and huge memory footprint hinder their low-latency applications in real-world scenarios. Quantization is a promising way to compress and accelerate models. Nevertheless, due to the wide range and time-varying activations in diffusion models, existing methods cannot maintain both accuracy and efficiency simultaneously for low-bit quantization. To tackle this issue, we propose DilateQuant, a novel quantization framework for diffusion models that offers comparable accuracy and high efficiency. Specifically, we keenly aware of numerous unsaturated in-channel weights, which can be cleverly exploited to reduce the range of activations without additional computation cost. Based on this insight, we propose Weight Dilation (WD) that maximally dilates the unsaturated in-channel weights to a constrained range through a mathematically equivalent scaling. WD costlessly absorbs the activation quantization errors into weight quantization. The range of activations decreases, which makes activations quantization easy. The range of weights remains constant, which makes model easy to converge in training stage. Considering the temporal network leads to time-varying activations, we design a Temporal Parallel Quantizer (TPQ), which sets time-step quantization parameters and supports parallel quantization for different time steps, significantly improving the performance and reducing time cost. To further enhance performance while preserving efficiency, we introduce a Block-wise Knowledge Distillation (BKD) to align the quantized models with the full-precision models at a block level. The rapid advancement of visual generative models necessitates efficient and reliable evaluation methods. Arena platform, which gathers user votes on model comparisons, can rank models with human preferences. However, traditional Arena methods, while established, require an excessive number of comparisons for ranking to converge and are vulnerable to preference noise in voting, suggesting the need for better approaches tailored to contemporary evaluation challenges. In this paper, we introduce K-Sort Arena, an efficient and reliable platform based on a key insight: images and videos possess higher perceptual intuitiveness than texts, enabling rapid evaluation of multiple samples simultaneously. Consequently, K-Sort Arena employs K-wise comparisons, allowing K models to engage in free-for-all competitions, which yield much richer information than pairwise comparisons. To enhance the robustness of the system, we leverage probabilistic modeling and Bayesian updating techniques. We propose an exploration-exploitation-based matchmaking strategy to facilitate more informative comparisons. In our experiments, K-Sort Arena exhibits 16.3x faster convergence compared to the widely used ELO algorithm. To further validate the superiority and obtain a comprehensive leaderboard, we collect human feedback via crowdsourced evaluations of numerous cutting-edge text-to-image and text-to-video models. Thanks to its high efficiency, K-Sort Arena can continuously incorporate emerging models and update the leaderboard with minimal votes. Large transformer models have demonstrated remarkable success. Post-training quantization (PTQ), which requires only a small dataset for calibration and avoids end-to-end retraining, is a promising solution for compressing these large models. Regrettably, existing PTQ methods typically exhibit non-trivial performance loss. We find that the performance bottleneck stems from over-consideration of hardware compatibility in the quantization process, compelling them to reluctantly employ simple quantizers, albeit at the expense of accuracy. With the above insights, we propose RepQuant, a novel PTQ framework with quantization-inference decoupling paradigm to address the above issues. RepQuant employs complex quantizers in the quantization process and simplified quantizers in the inference process, and performs mathematically equivalent transformations between the two through quantization scale reparameterization, thus ensuring both accurate quantization and efficient inference. More specifically, we focus on two components with extreme distributions: LayerNorm activations and Softmax activations. Initially, we apply channel-wise quantization and log$\sqrt{2}$ quantization, respectively, which are tailored to their distributions. In particular, for the former, we introduce a learnable per-channel dual clipping scheme, which is designed to efficiently identify outliers in the unbalanced activations with fine granularity. Then, we reparameterize the scales to hardware-friendly layer-wise quantization and log2 quantization for inference. Moreover, quantized weight reconstruction is seamlessly integrated into the above procedure to further push the performance limits. Extensive experiments are performed on different large-scale transformer variants on multiple tasks, including vision, language, and multi-modal transformers, and RepQuant encouragingly demonstrates significant performance advantages.

Diffusion models have achieved great success in image generation tasks through iterative noise estimation. However, the heavy denoising process and complex neural networks hinder their low-latency applications in real-world scenarios. Quantization can effectively reduce model complexity, and post-training quantization (PTQ), which does not require fine-tuning, is highly promising for compressing and accelerating diffusion models. Unfortunately, we find that due to the highly dynamic distribution of activations in different denoising steps, existing PTQ methods for diffusion models suffer from distribution mismatch issues at both calibration sample level and reconstruction output level, which makes the performance far from satisfactory, especially in low-bit cases. In this paper, we propose Enhanced Distribution Alignment for Post-Training Quantization of Diffusion Models (EDA-DM) to address the above issues. Specifically, at the calibration sample level, we select calibration samples based on the density and variety in the latent space, thus facilitating the alignment of their distribution with the overall samples; and at the reconstruction output level, we modify the loss of block reconstruction with the losses of layers, aligning the outputs of quantized model and full-precision model at different network granularity. We investigate the temperature-dependent production of feebly interacting massive dark matter particle (FIMP DM) within a $Z_2$ model, incorporating two $Z_2$-odd scalar fields. In specific parameter regions, three distinct mechanisms individually dominate the production of the FIMP DM. These mechanisms include the semi-production process, commonly known as the ``exponential growth'' process, the production from pair annihilations of the bath particles, and the three-body decay process. It is crucial to consider the thermal history during the evolution of FIMPs, as it involves multiple phase transitions occurring prior to the freeze-in of dark matter. Consequently, the scalar masses experience thermal variations, leading to a distinctive evolutionary trajectory for FIMPs when compared to scenarios without accounting for the thermal effects. We investigate the inelastic signatures of dark matter-nucleus interactions, explicitly focusing on the ramifications of polarization, dark matter splitting, and the Migdal effect. Direct detection experiments, crucial for testing the existence of dark matter, encounter formidable obstacles such as indomitable neutrino backgrounds and the elusive determination of dark matter spin. To overcome these challenges, we explore the potential of polarized-target dark matter scattering, examining the impact of nonvanishing mass splitting and the role of the Migdal effect in detecting light dark matter. Our analysis demonstrates the valuable utility of the polarized triple-differential event rate as an effective tool for studying inelastic dark matter. Several Pulsar Timing Array (PTA) collaborations have recently reported the evidence for a stochastic gravitational-wave background (SGWB), which can unveil the formation of primordial seeds of inhomogeneities in the early universe. With the SGWB parameters inferred from PTAs data, we can make a prediction of the seeds for early galaxy formation from the domain walls in the axion-like particles (ALPs) field distribution. This also naturally provides a solution to the observation of high redshifts by the James Webb Space Telescope. The early kinetic decoupling (eKD) effect is an inevitable ingredient in calculating the relic density of dark matter (DM) for various well-motivated scenarios. It appears naturally in forbidden dark matter annihilation, the main focus of this work, which contains fermionic DM and a light singlet scalar that connects the DM and standard model (SM) leptons. The strong suppression of the scattering between DM and SM particles happens quite early in the DM depletion history, where the DM temperature drops away from the thermal equilibrium, $T_\chi < T_{\rm SM}$, leading to the decreased kinetic energy of DM. The forbidden annihilation thus becomes inefficient since small kinetic energy cannot help exceed the annihilation threshold, naturally leading to a larger abundance. To show the eKD discrepancy, we numerically solve the coupled Boltzmann equations that govern the evolution of DM number density and temperature. It is found that eKD significantly affects the DM abundance, resulting in almost an order of magnitude higher than that by the traditional calculation. The $\rm{keV}$ scale sterile neutrino was a qualified candidate for dark matter particles in the Dodelson-Widrow mechanism. But the mixing angle, needed to provide enough amount of dark matter, is in contradiction with the astrophysical observations. To alleviate such tension, we introduce an effective interaction, i.e. $g_a (\phi/\Lambda)\partial_{\mu}a \overline{\nu_\alpha}\gamma^{\mu} \gamma_5 \nu_\alpha$, among Standard Model neutrino $\nu_\alpha$, axion $a$, and singlet $\phi$. The axial-vector interaction form is determined by the axion shift symmetry, and the singlet $\phi$ with dynamically varied vacuum expectation value is introduced to reinforce the axial-vector coupling strength and evade the stringent neutrino oscillation constraints. The effective potential generated by the new interaction {could cancel} the SM counterpart, resulting in an {enhanced converting} probability between SM neutrino and sterile neutrino. The supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking mechanism generally predicts the existence of the sgoldstinos, which can play the role of wave-like dark matter. Due to the ubiquitous coupling to the electromagnetic fields, the light scalar sgoldstino dark matter can lead to the variance of the fine-structure constant. With the precise atomic clock data, we find the SUSY breaking scale $\sqrt{F}$ can be probed up to the GUT scale in the sgoldstino mass range of $10^{-22}$ eV $

We study the cosmological inflation and dark matter (DM) in a unified way within a $Z_3$ complex scalar model. The real and imaginary parts of the complex scalar act as the inflaton and DM respectively. The slow-rolling inflation with non-minimal coupling in both the metric and Palatini formalisms can be realized. We examine the whole parameters space by fully considering the theoretical and experimental constraints. We find that in the low-energy scale, the DM relic density and the DM-nucleon direct scattering experiments favor the mixing angle $|\theta| \lesssim 0.25$, the DM mass $m_\chi \gtrsim 80\rm{GeV}$, and the mass of Higgs-like scalar $m_{h_2} \gtrsim 300\rm{GeV}$. In the high-energy scale, after further considering the cosmological constraints of the scalar spectral index and the tensor-to-scalar ratio for the two forms of inflation, the scalar spectral indices are both $\sim 0.965$, the non-minimum coupling coefficients are $\sim 10^4$ and $\sim 10^9$, and the tensor-to-scalar ratios are $\sim 10^{-3}$ and $\lesssim 10^{-11}$ respectively, which suggests that the inflation under the two formalisms can be distinguished by measuring the tensor-to-scalar ratio with higher precision., Comment: 16 pages, 5 figures

By assuming the photosphere located at the outmost edge of the ejecta, Arnett et al. (1980, 1982, 1989) presented the light curves of homologous explosions in supernovae analytically and numerically to include recombination effects. Actually as homologous expansion proceeds, the photosphere recedes deeper into the ejecta. In this situation, the photosphere radius increases at early times and decreases later on which can be described by a simple method proposed by Liu et al. (2018). To study how the photosphere recession effect the luminosity evolution, we impose a boundary condition on the photosphere to determine the spatial and time distribution of the temperature of the ejecta which is clarified to be reasonable. We find that the photosphere recession reduce the luminosity compared with the previous result without the recession, which can be tested with observations of Type-IIP supernovae., Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures

We study a minimal extension of the Standard Model by introducing three right-handed neutrinos and a new scotogenic scalar doublet, in which the mass splittings between neutral and charged components are responsible for the $W$-boson mass newly measured by the CDF collaboration. This model can not only generate non-vanishing Majorana neutrino masses via the interaction of right-handed neutrinos and scotogenic scalars, but also explain the Universe's missing matter in the form of FIMP dark matter. We also study the influence of the mass splitting on the first order electroweak phase transition, and find that it can further enhance the transition strength and thus induce gravitational waves during the phase transition, which may be detected in the forthcoming detectors such as U-DECIGO., Comment: References updated, accepted for publication in Science Bulletin

We study the superheavy dark matter (DM) scenario in an extended $B-L$ model, where one generation of right-handed neutrino $\nu_R$ is the DM candidate. If there is a new lighter sterile neutrino that co-annihilate with the DM candidate, then the annihilation rate is exponentially enhanced, allowing a DM mass much heavier than the Griest-Kamionkowski bound ($\sim10^5$ GeV). We demonstrate that a DM mass $M_{\nu_R}\gtrsim10^{13}$ GeV can be achieved. Although beyond the scale of any traditional DM searching strategy, this scenario is testable via gravitational waves (GWs) emitted by the cosmic strings from the $U(1)_{B-L}$ breaking. Flavor-specific scalar bosons exist in various Standard Model extensions and couple to a single generation of fermions via a global flavor symmetry breaking mechanism. Given this strategy, we propose a MeV flavor-specific scalar model in dimension-$5$ operator series, which explains the muon g-2 anomaly and proton radius puzzle by coupling with the muon and down-quark at the same time. The framework is consistent with the null result of high-intensity searches. Specifically, the supernova constraints for muon couplings become weakened by including the contribution of down-quark interaction. The parameter space for explaining muon $g-2$ discrepancy is available when $10\%$ energy deposition is required in the energy explosion process in the supernova, but this is ruled out by the $1\%$ energy deposition requirement. We also investigate the searches for mediator and dark matter and the resulting constraints on viable parameter space such as nuclear physics constraints, direct detection for light boosted dark matter, and possible CMB constraints. When compared to conventional dark matter production, light dark matter production has two additional modifications: bound state formation and early kinetic equilibrium decoupling. Domain walls can form after breakdown of a discrete symmetry induced by first-order phase transition, we study the heavy dark matter produced around the temperature of the phase transition that yields the breakdown of a $\mathbb{Z}_{3}$ symmetry. In this work, we study the long-standing experimental anomaly in muon $(g-2)$ and also recent anomalous excess in $K_L\to \pi^0+\nu\bar\nu$ at the J-PARC KOTO experiment with sgoldstino. After supersymmetry breaking, the interactions between quarks and sgoldstino ($s$) make the decays $K\to \pi+s$ sizable through loop diagrams, which affects the measurements of decays $K\to \pi+\mathrm{invisible}$. Furthermore, the couplings between photons and sgoldstino contribute to $\Delta a_\mu$ as well as the bino-slepton contribution. With satisfying all known experimental constraints such as from NA62, E949, E137, Orsay, KTEV and CHARM experiments, these two anomalies can be explained simultaneously. The mass of CP-even sgoldstino is close to the neutral pion mass which does not violate the Grossman-Nir bound. Latency in the control loop of adaptive optics (AO) systems can severely limit performance. Under the frozen flow hypothesis linear predictive control techniques can overcome this, however identification and tracking of relevant turbulent parameters (such as wind speeds) is required for such parametric techniques. This can complicate practical implementations and introduce stability issues when encountering variable conditions. Here we present a nonlinear wavefront predictor using a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) artificial neural network (ANN) that assumes no prior knowledge of the atmosphere and thus requires no user input. The ANN is designed to predict the open-loop wavefront slope measurements of a Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor (SH-WFS) one frame in advance to compensate for a single-frame delay in a simulated $7\times7$ single-conjugate adaptive optics (SCAO) system operating at 150 Hz. We describe how the training regime of the LSTM ANN affects prediction performance and show how the performance of the predictor varies under various guide star magnitudes. We show that the prediction remains stable when both wind speed and direction are varying. We then extend our approach to a more realistic two-frame latency system. AO system performance when using the LSTM predictor is enhanced for all simulated conditions with prediction errors within 19.9 to 40.0 nm RMS of a latency-free system operating under the same conditions compared to a bandwidth error of $78.3\pm4.4$ nm RMS.

The Gamma-Ray Integrated Detectors (GRID) is a space mission concept dedicated to monitoring the transient gamma-ray sky in the energy range from 10 keV to 2 MeV using scintillation detectors onboard CubeSats in low Earth orbits. The primary targets of GRID are the gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) in the local universe. The scientific goal of GRID is, in synergy with ground-based gravitational wave (GW) detectors such as LIGO and VIRGO, to accumulate a sample of GRBs associated with the merger of two compact stars and study jets and related physics of those objects. It also involves observing and studying other gamma-ray transients such as long GRBs, soft gamma-ray repeaters, terrestrial gamma-ray flashes, and solar flares. With multiple CubeSats in various orbits, GRID is unaffected by the Earth occultation and serves as a full-time and all-sky monitor. Assuming a horizon of 200 Mpc for ground-based GW detectors, we expect to see a few associated GW-GRB events per year. With about 10 CubeSats in operation, GRID is capable of localizing a faint GRB like 170817A with a 90% error radius of about 10 degrees, through triangulation and flux modulation. GRID is proposed and developed by students, with considerable contribution from undergraduate students, and will remain operated as a student project in the future. The current GRID collaboration involves more than 20 institutes and keeps growing. The cosmic electron energy spectrum recently observed by the DAMPE experiment exhibits two interesting features, including a break around 0.9 TeV and a sharp resonance near 1.4 TeV. In this analysis, we propose a dark matter explanation to both exotic features seen by DAMPE. In our model, dark matter annihilates in the galaxy via two different channels that lead to both a narrow resonance spectrum near 1.4 TeV and electron excess events over an extended energy range thus generating the break structure around TeV. The two annihilation channels are mediated by two gauge bosons that interact both with dark matter and with the standard model fermions. Dark matter annihilations through the s-channel process mediated by the heavier boson produce monoenergetic electron-positron pairs leading to the resonance excess. The lighter boson has a mass smaller than the dark matter such that they can be on-shell produced in dark matter annihilations in the galaxy; the lighter bosons in the final state subsequently decay to generate the extended excess events due to the smeared electron energy spectrum in this process. We further analyze constraints from various experiments, including HESS, Fermi, AMS, and LHC, to the parameter space of the model where both excess events can be accounted for. In order to interpret the two new features in the DAMPE data, dark matter annihilation cross sections in the current galaxy are typically much larger than the canonical thermal cross section needed for the correct dark matter relic abundance. This discrepancy, however, is remedied by the nonperturbative Sommerfeld enhancement because of the existence of a lighter mediator in the model., Comment: 23 pages, 21 figures

We study a dynamical freeze-in production of the dark matter considering the electroweak phase transition history of the Universe. The kinematical thresholds of the decay and scattering processes for the dark matter production can be altered by the temperature dependent thermal masses of particles, which might lead to enhancement or reduction of the dark matter relic abundance. The second-stage strongly first-order electroweak phase transition (SFOEWPT) triggered by the hidden scalars can be probed at colliders and the gravitational wave detectors. Type IIP and type IIL supernovae (SNe) are defined on their light curves, but the spectrum criteria in distinguishing these two type SNe remains unclear. We propose a new classification method. Firstly, we subtract the principal components of different wavelength bands in the spectra based on Functional Principal Components Analysis (FPCA) method. Then, we use Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to classify these two types of SNe. The best F1-Score of our classifier is 0.881, and we found that solely using Halpha line at 6150-6800 A for classification can reach a F1-Score up to 0.849. We propose a Cosmological Model Independent Time Delay (CMITD) method where the Lorentz invariance violation (LIV) variable $K(z)$ is constructed by observational data instead of cosmological model. The simulated time delay data show the CMITD method could present the validity of LIV test. In this paper, we construct a new class of modules over the Block algebra $\BB(q)$, where $q$ is a nonzero complex number. We determined the irreducibilities of these modules and the isomorphisms among them.

The recent high energy electron and positron flux observed by the DAMPE experiment indicates possible excess events near 1.4 TeV. Such an excess may be evidence of dark matter annihilations or decays in a dark matter subhalo that is located close to the solar system. We give here an analysis of this excess from annihilations of Dirac fermion dark matter which is charged under a new $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry. The interactions between dark matter and the standard model particles are mediated the $U(1)_X$ gauge boson. We show that dark matter annihilations from a local subhalo can explain the excess with the canonical thermal annihilation cross section. We further discuss the constraints from the relic density, from the dark matter direct detection, from the dark matter indirect detection, from the cosmic microwave background, and from the particle colliders., Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures

In this paper, we study a class of $\Z_d$-graded modules, which are constructed using Larsson's functor from $\sl_d$-modules $V$, for the Lie algebras of divergence zero vector fields on tori and quantum tori. We determine the irreducibility of these modules for finite-dimensional or infinite-dimensional $V$ using a unified method. In particular, these modules provide new irreducible weight modules with infinite-dimensional weight spaces for the corresponding algebras.

We study the electroweak phase transition in the framework of scalar singlet-doublet mixed dark matter model, where the particle dark matter candidate is the lightest neutral Higgs that comprised of the CP-even component of inert doublet and a singlet scalar. The dark matter can be dominated by the inert doublet or singlet scalar depending on the mixing. We present several benchmark models to investigate the two situations after imposing several theoretical and experimental constraints. An additional singlet scalar and the inert doublet drive the electroweak phase transition to be strongly first order. The inner structures of the multiquark states are an interesting subject in hadron physics, generally they may be in tetraquark states which are composed of colored constituents, or in molecular states which are composed of two color singlets, or their mixtures. Therefore, the mechanisms which bind the constituents in a unique system and induce the multiquark states to decay would be different in those cases. The newly observed $X, Y, Z$ exotic states are definitely not in the standard $Q\bar Q'$ structures, thus their existence composes a challenge to our understanding on the fundamental principles of hadron physics. Therefore the studies on their decay patterns which are determined by the non-perturbative QCD will definitely shed light on the concerned physics. Generally the four-quark states might be in a molecular state or tetraquark or their mixture. In this work, we adopt the suggestion that $Y(4630)$ is a charmonium-like tetraquark made of a diquark and an anti-diquark. If it is true, its favorable decay mode should be $Y(4630)$ decaying into an open-charm baryon pair, since such a transition occurs via strong interaction and is super-OZI-allowed. In this work, we calculate the decay width of $Y(4630)\to\Lambda_c\bar{\Lambda}_c$ in the framework of the quark pair creation (QPC) model. Our numerical results on the partial width computed in the tetraquark configuration coincide with the Belle data within a certain error tolerance., Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, 1 table. The QCD multipole expansion (QCDME) is based on the quantum field theory, so should be more reliable. However, on another aspect, it refers to the non-perturbative QCD , so that has a certain application range. Even though it successfully explains the data of transition among members of the $\Upsilon$ ($\psi$) family, as Eichten indicates, beyond the production threshold of mediate states it fails to meet data by several orders. In this work, by studying a simple decay mode $D^*\to D+\pi^0$, where a pion may be emitted before $D^*$ transiting into $D$, we analyze the contribution of QCD multipole expansion. Whereas as the $D\pi$ portal is open, the dominant contribution is an OZI allowed process where a light quark-pair is excited out from vacuum and its contribution can be evaluated by the $^3P_0$ model. Since the direct pion emission is a process which is OZI suppressed and violates the isospin conservation, its contribution must be much smaller than the dominant one. By a careful calculation, we may quantitatively estimate how small the QCDME contribution should be and offer a quantitative interpretation for Eichten's statement., Comment: 12 pages, 3 figures

In this work, we introduce an extra singlet pseudoscalar into the Type-III two Higgs doublet model (2HDM) which is supposed to solve a series of problems in the modern particle-cosmology. With existence of a light pseudoscalar, the $h\rightarrow\mu\tau$ excess measured at CMS and as well as the $(g-2)_{\mu}$ anomaly could be simultaneously explained within certain parameter spaces that can also tolerate the data on the flavor-violating processes $\tau\rightarrow\mu\gamma$ and Higgs decay gained at LHC. Within the same parameter spaces, the DM relic abundance is well accounted. We derive the bulk viscous damping timescale of hybrid stars, neutron stars with quark matter core. The r-mode instability windows of the stars show that the theoretical results are consistent with the rapid rotation pulsar data, which may give an indication for the existence of quark matter in the interior of neutron stars.
