Large-scale video conferencing services incur significant network cost while serving surging global demands. Our work systematically explores the opportunity to offload a fraction of this traffic to the Internet, a cheaper routing option offered already by cloud providers, from WAN without drop in application performance. First, with a large-scale latency measurement study with 3.5 million data points per day spanning 241K source cities and 21 data centers across the globe, we demonstrate that Internet paths perform comparable to or better than the private WAN for parts of the world (e.g., Europe and North America). Next, we present Titan, a live (12+ months) production system that carefully moves a fraction of the conferencing traffic to the Internet using the above observation. Finally, we propose Titan-Next, a research prototype that jointly assigns the conferencing server and routing option (Internet or WAN) for individual calls. With 5 weeks of production data, we show Titan-Next reduces the sum of peak bandwidth on WAN links that defines the operational network cost by up to 61% compared to state-of-the-art baselines. Color centers in silicon carbide (SiC) have demonstrated significant promise for quantum information processing. However, the undesirable ionization process that occurs during optical manipulation frequently causes fluctuations in the charge state and performance of these defects, thereby restricting the effectiveness of spin-photon interfaces. Recent predictions indicate that divacancy defects near stacking faults possess the capability to stabilize their neutral charge states, thereby providing robustness against photoionization effects. In this work, we present a comprehensive protocol for the scalable and targeted fabrication of single divacancy arrays in 4H-SiC using a high-resolution focused helium ion beam. Through photoluminescence emission (PLE) experiments, we demonstrate long-term emission stability with minimal linewidth shift ($\sim$ 50 MHz over 3 hours) for the single c-axis divacancies within stacking faults. By measuring the ionization rate for different polytypes of divacancies, we found that the divacancies within stacking faults are more robust against resonant excitation. Additionally, angle-resolved PLE spectra reveal their two resonant-transition lines with mutually orthogonal polarizations. Notably, the PLE linewidths are approximately 7 times narrower and the spin-coherent times are 6 times longer compared to divacancies generated via carbon-ion implantation. These findings highlight the immense potential of SiC divacancies for on-chip quantum photonics and the construction of efficient spin-to-photon interfaces, indicating a significant step forward in the development of quantum technologies., Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures

We consider the Cauchy problem for the one-dimensional periodic cubic nonlinear fractional Schr{\"o}dinger equation (FNLS) with initial data distributed via its associated Gibbs measure. We construct global strong solutions with the flow property for the FNLS on the support of the Gibbs measure in the full dispersive range, thus resolving a question proposed by Sun-Tzvetkov (2021). Optically addressable spin defects in silicon carbide (SiC) have emerged as attractable platforms for various quantum technologies. However, the low photon count rate significantly limits their applications. We strongly enhanced the brightness by 7 times and spin-control strength by 14 times of single divacancy defects in 4H-SiC membranes using surface plasmon generated by gold film coplanar waveguides. The mechanism of the plasmonic-enhanced effect is further studied by tuning the distance between single defects and the surface of the gold film. A three-energy-level model is used to determine the corresponding transition rates consistent with the enhanced brightness of single defects. Lifetime measurements also verified the coupling between defects and surface plasmons. Our scheme is low-cost, without complicated microfabrication and delicate structures, which is applicable for other spin defects in different materials. This work would promote developing spin defect-based quantum applications in mature SiC materials.

We study the construction of the Gibbs measures for the {\it focusing} mass-critical fractional nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation on the multi-dimensional torus. We identify the sharp mass threshold for normalizability and non-normalizability of the focusing Gibbs measures, which generalizes the influential works of Lebowitz-Rose-Speer (1988), Bourgain (1994), and Oh-Sosoe-Tolomeo (2021) on the one-dimensional nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations. Zero-Shot Learning (ZSL) has attracted huge research attention over the past few years; it aims to learn the new concepts that have never been seen before. In classical ZSL algorithms, attributes are introduced as the intermediate semantic representation to realize the knowledge transfer from seen classes to unseen classes. Previous ZSL algorithms are tested on several benchmark datasets annotated with attributes. However, these datasets are defective in terms of the image distribution and attribute diversity. In addition, we argue that the "co-occurrence bias problem" of existing datasets, which is caused by the biased co-occurrence of objects, significantly hinders models from correctly learning the concept. To overcome these problems, we propose a Large-scale Attribute Dataset (LAD). Our dataset has 78,017 images of 5 super-classes, 230 classes. The image number of LAD is larger than the sum of the four most popular attribute datasets. 359 attributes of visual, semantic and subjective properties are defined and annotated in instance-level. We analyze our dataset by conducting both supervised learning and zero-shot learning tasks. Seven state-of-the-art ZSL algorithms are tested on this new dataset. The experimental results reveal the challenge of implementing zero-shot learning on our dataset.

Significant progress has been achieved in Computer Vision by leveraging large-scale image datasets. However, large-scale datasets for complex Computer Vision tasks beyond classification are still limited. This paper proposed a large-scale dataset named AIC (AI Challenger) with three sub-datasets, human keypoint detection (HKD), large-scale attribute dataset (LAD) and image Chinese captioning (ICC). In this dataset, we annotate class labels (LAD), keypoint coordinate (HKD), bounding box (HKD and LAD), attribute (LAD) and caption (ICC). These rich annotations bridge the semantic gap between low-level images and high-level concepts. The proposed dataset is an effective benchmark to evaluate and improve different computational methods. In addition, for related tasks, others can also use our dataset as a new resource to pre-train their models.

We propose a new quantum network scheme using orbital angular momentum states of photons to route the network and spin angular momentum states to encode the information. A four-user experimental scheme based on this efficient quantum network is analyzed in detail, which is particularly appealing for the free space quantum key distribution. The decoherence of two initially entangled qubits in a squeezed vacuum cavity has been investigated exactly. The results show that, first, in principle, the disentanglement time decreases with the increasing of squeeze parameter r, due to the augmenting of average photon number of every mode in squeezed vacuum cavity. Second, there are entanglement revivals after complete disentanglement for the case of even parity initial Bell state, while there are entanglement decrease and revival before complete disentanglement for the case of odd parity initial Bell state. We have investigated vacuum Rabi oscillation of an atom coupled with single-mode cavity field exactly, and compared the results with that of J-C model. The results show that, there is damping Rabi oscillation for an atom, even in strong coupling regime. For small detuning and weak coupling case, the probability for the atom in excited state oscillates against time with different frequency and amplitude from that of J-C model. It exhibits the counter-rotating wave interaction could significantly effect the dynamic behavior of the atom, even under the condition in which the RWA is considered to be justified. On the other hand, the results also reveal that the counter-rotating wave interaction could obviously modify the decay rate in strong coupling regime. And there is Rabi oscillation for initially unexcited atom, which is contrary to that of J-C model., Comment: 4pages,6figures

The decoherence of two qubits, coupled with one-mode cavity separately, has been investigated exactly. The results show that, for the resonant case, the decoherence behavior of system is similar to Markovian case when the coupling strength is weak, while the concurrence vanishes in finite time and might recover fractional initial entanglement before it permanently vanishes when the coupling strength is strong. And for detuning case, the entanglement could periodically recover after a period of time from its disappearance. The decoherence of two initially entangled qubits in a non-Markovian reservoir has been investigated exactly without Born Markovian approximation and rotating-wave approximation(RWA). The non-perturbative quantum master equation is derived and its exact solution is obtained. The decoherence behaviors of two qubits, initially entangled in Bell states, has been investigated in three different cases of parameters. The results show that the counter-rotating wave terms have great influence on the decoherence behavior, and there are differences between the exact solution of the Hamiltonian with RWA and that of the exact Hamiltonian without RWA. It might be improper to take RWA when the atom is in a non-markovian reservoir.

The decoherence of two initially entangled qubits in anisotropic band gap photonic crystal has been studied analytically without Born or Markovian approximation. It is shown that the decoherence dynamics of two qubits in photonic crystal is greatly different from that of two qubits in vacuum or subjected to usual non-Markovian reservoir. The results also show that the finite time decoherence invoked by spontaneous emission could be suppressed efficiently and the entanglement of the Bell state possesses odd parity is more easily preserved in photonic crystal than that of the Bell state possesses even parity under the same condition.
