This article presents the early results of synchronous multiwavelength observations of one of the brightest gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) GRB 160625B with the detailed continuous fast optical photometry of its optical counterpart obtained by MASTER and with hard X-ray and gamma-ray emission, obtained by the Lomonosov and Konus-Wind spacecraft. The detailed photometry led us to detect the quasi-periodical emission components in the intrinsic optical emission. As a result of our analysis of synchronous multiwavelength observations, we propose a three-stage collapse scenario for this long and bright GRB. We suggest that quasiperiodic fluctuations may be associated with forced precession of a self-gravitating rapidly rotating superdense body (spinar), whose evolution is determined by a powerful magnetic field. The RELEC scientific instrumentation onboard the Vernov spacecraft launched on July 8, 2014, included the DRGE gamma-ray and electron spectrometer. This instrument incorporates a set of scintillation phoswich detectors, including four identical X-ray and gamma-ray detectors in the energy range from 10 keV to 3 MeV with a total area of $\sim$500 $cm^{2}$ directed toward the nadir, and an electron spectrometer containing three mutually orthogonal detector units with a geometry factor of $\sim$2 $cm^{2} sr$, which is also sensitive to X-rays and gamma-rays. The goal of the space experiment with the DRGE instrument was to investigate phenomena with fast temporal variability, in particular, terrestrial gamma-ray flashes (TGFs) and magnetospheric electron precipitations. However, the detectors of the DRGE instrument could record cosmic gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) and allowed one not only to perform a detailed analysis of the gamma-ray variability but also to compare the time profiles with the measurements made by other instruments of the RELEC scientific instrumentation (the detectors of optical and ultraviolet flashes, the radio-frequency and low-frequency analyzers of electromagnetic field parameters). We present the results of our observations of cosmic GRB 141011A and GRB 141104A, compare the parameters obtained in the GBM/Fermi and KONUSWind experiments, and estimate the redshifts and Eiso for the sources of these GRBs. The detectability of GRBs and good agreement between the independent estimates of their parameters obtained in various experiments are an important factor of the successful operation of similar detectors onboard the Lomonosov spacecraft., Comment: 19 pages, 8 figures

On April 28, 2016, the Lomonosov satellite, equipped with a number of scientific instruments, was launched into orbit. Here we present briefly some of the results obtained with the first orbital telescope of extreme energy cosmic rays TUS and by a group of detectors aimed at multi-messenger observations of gamma-ray bursts., Comment: XXV ECRS 2016 Proceedings - eConf C16-09-04.3

We present results of survey of interstellar absorptions towards supernova remnant (SNR) RX J0852.0-4622. The distribution of KI absorbers along the distance of the background stars is indicative of a local region (d<600pc) strongly depopulated by KI line-absorbing clouds. This fact is supported by the behavior of the interstellar extinction. We find four high-velocity CaII components with velocities of >100km/s towards three stars and identify them with shocked clouds of Vela SNR. We reveal and measure acceleration of two shocked clouds at the approaching and receding sides of Vela SNR along the same sight line. The clouds acceleration, velocity, and CaII column density are used to probe cloud parameters. The total hydrogen column density of both accelerating clouds is found to be similar (~6*10^{17} cm$^{-2}$) which indicates that possibly there is a significant amount of small-size clouds in the vicinity of Vela SNR., Comment: accepted in MNRAS

Supernova remnant (SNR) RX J0852.0-4622 is one of the youngest and is most likely the closest among known galactic supernova remnants (SNRs). It was detected in X-rays, the 44Ti gamma-line, and radio. We obtain and analyze medium-resolution spectra of 14 stars in the direction towards the SNR RX J0852.0-4622 in an attempt to detect broad absorption lines of unshocked ejecta against background stars. Spectral synthesis is performed for all the stars in the wavelength range of 3740-4020AA to extract the broad absorption lines of Ca II related to the SNR RX J0852.0-4622. We do not detect any broad absorption line and place a 3-sigma upper limit on the relative depths of <0.04 for the broad Ca II absorption produced by the SNR. We detect narrow low and high velocity absorption components of Ca II. High velocity |V(LSR)|=100-140 km/s components are attributed to radiative shocks in clouds engulfed by the old Vela SNR. The upper limit to the absorption line strength combined with the width and flux of the 44Ti gamma-ray line 1.16 MeV lead us to conclude that SNR RX J0852.0-4622 was probably produced by an energetic SN Ic explosion., Comment: 9 pages, 8 figures, accepted in A&A

Vela Jr. is one of the youngest and likely nearest among the known galactic supernova remnants (SNRs). Discovered in 1997 it has been studied since then at quite a few wavelengths, that spread over almost 20 decades in energy. Here we present and discuss Vela Jr. properties revealed by these multiwavelength observations, and confront them with the SNR model expectations. Questions that remained unanswered at the time of publication of the paper of Iyudin et al. (2005), e.g. what is the nature of the SNR's proposed central compact source CXOU J085201.4-461753, and why is the ISM absorption column density apparently associated with RX J0852.0-4622 much greater than the typical column of the Vela SNR, can be addressed using the latest radio and X-ray observations of Vela Jr.. According to standard models supernovae produce radioactive $^{44}$Ti, which should be visible in gamma-rays following decay to $^{44}$Ca for a few centuries. $^{44}Ti production is believed to be the source of cosmic $^{44}$Ca, whose abundance is well established. Yet, gamma-ray telescopes have not seen the expected young remnants of core collapse events. The $^{44}$Ti mean life of $\tau \simeq$ 89 y and the Galactic supernova rate of $\simeq$ 3/100 y imply $\simeq$ several detectable $^{44}Ti gamma-ray sources, but only one is clearly seen, the 340-year-old Cas A SNR. Furthermore, supernovae which produce much $^{44}Ti are expected to occur primarily in the inner part of the Galaxy, where young massive stars are most abundant. Because the Galaxy is transparent to gamma-rays, this should be the dominant location of expected gamma-ray sources. Yet the Cas A SNR as the only one source is located far from the inner Galaxy (at longitude 112 degree). We evaluate the surprising absence of detectable supernovae from the past three centuries. We discuss whether our understanding of SN explosions, their $^{44}Ti yields, their spatial distributions, and statistical arguments can be stretched so that this apparent disagreement may be accommodated within reasonable expectations, or if we have to revise some or all of the above aspects to bring expectations in agreement with the observations. We conclude that either core collapse supernovae have been improbably rare in the Galaxy during the past few centuries, or $^{44}Ti-producing supernovae are atypical supernovae. We also present a new argument based on $^{44}$Ca/$^{40}$Ca ratios in mainstream SiC stardust grains that may cast doubt on massive-He-cap Type I supernovae as the source of most galactic $^{44}$Ca., Comment: 23 pages, 14 figures, accepted for publication in Astronomy and Astrophysics 2006. We expand on the recently reported detections of the gamma-ray resonant absorption along the line of sight toward gamma-ray bright quasars (QSOs), like 3C279. We propose to use this novel gamma-ray absorption method to study the Dark Matter distribution in the Milky Way, as well as in the Local Group. Properties of the absorber that was detected on the sight lines towards gamma-ray bright QSOs at zero redshift are discussed. We compare our results with the expected Dark Matter distributions in the halo of Milky Way, that were simulated in boundaries of different CDM models. RX J0852.0-4622 is a shell type supernova remnant with a power law spectrum in the south-eastern corner of the Vela supernova remnant. We report XMM-Newton observations of three fields centered on the rim of the remnant and confirm the power law shape of the spectra with no prominent emission lines as previously obtained with ASCA. The emission line feature at ~4.1 keV indicated in the ASCA/SIS spectrum of the northern field is detected and found in the southern and western fields, as well, with a total significance of slightly more than 4 sigmas. The line position is improved and the feature is centered on 4.45 +/- 0.05 keV. We suggest this line feature to be emission from Ti and Sc. The measured X-ray flux is consistent with the Ti gamma-ray flux previously measured with COMPTEL. High quantum efficiency over a broad spectral range is one of the main properties of the EPIC pn camera on-board XMM-Newton. The quantum efficiency rises from ~75% at 0.2 keV to ~100% at 1 keV, stays close to 100% until 8 keV, and is still ~90% at 10 keV. The EPIC pn camera is attached to an X-ray telescope which has the highest collecting area currently available, in particular at low energies (more than 1400 cm2 between 0.1 and 2.0 keV). Thus, this instrument is very sensitive to the low-energy X-ray emission. However, X-ray data at energies below ~0.2 keV are considerably affected by detector effects, which become more and more important towards the lowest transmitted energies. In addition to that, pixels which have received incorrect offsets during the calculation of the offset map at the beginning of each observation, show up as bright patches in low-energy images. Here we describe a method which is not only capable of suppressing the contaminations found at low energies, but which also improves the data quality throughout the whole EPIC pn spectral range. The gamma-ray source GRO J0852-4642, discovered by COMPTEL, is a possible counterpart of the supernova remnant RX J0852-4622. Detection of radioactive decay from 44Ti nuclei would proof it to be the youngest and nearest supernova remnant known so far. During the first year of INTEGRAL core program, the Vela region was observed twice in all for more than 2000 ks. Among other nucleosynthesis studies, one of the most important scientific goals of this observation is the detection of 44Ti gamma-ray lines expected at 68 keV, 78 keV and 1157 keV. For this purpose the INTEGRAL Spectrometer (SPI), with its very high energy resolution thanks to its germanium detector camera is the key instrument, permitting a precise determination of gamma-ray line intensities and profiles. The upper limit for the 78.4 keV 44Ti gamma-ray line emission derived from the first analysis is 1.1 x 10^{-4} gamma/cm2s. This value is mainly dominated by systematic uncertainties in the treatment of the instrumental background. By accumulating more observation time in the next years of the mission and by improving the background understanding, a reliable 44Ti flux for GRO J0852-4642 or an upper limit which constrains the COMPTEL flux can be expected., Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures, 1 table. The discovery of the nearest young supernova remnant RXJ0852-4622/GROJ0852-4642 in the Galaxy by ROSAT and COMPTEL has been reported recently. Age and distance are determined to ~680 years and ~200 pc by the X-ray diameter and the gamma-ray line flux of radioactive 44Ti. Here we discuss the implications of the X-ray spectra and of the fact that 1.8 MeV gamma-ray line emission from the decay of 26Al has been measured from the Vela region with a certain fraction possibly associated with the new SNR. We estimate an uncertainty of the age of +-100 yrs for a fixed yield of 44Ti. The highest values of 44Ti yield provided by current supernova models give worst case upper limits of 1100 yrs for the age and of 500 pc for the distance. Also the unknown ionization stage of 44Ti adds to the uncertainty of age and distance which is atmost another 35% on top. Both the energy balance compiled for the remnant and yield predictions for 44Ti and 26Al by supernova models favour a core-collapse event. Two point sources have been found in the vicinity of the explosion center, either one of these might be the neutron star left by the supernova. If there is a neutron star the X-ray count- rates of the two point sources provide an upper limit of the blackbody surface temperature, which is very unlikely to exceed 3x10E5 K. The supernova might have been observed some 750+-150 yrs ago, but based on the data of SN1181, there is a realistic chance that it has been missed if the supernova was sub-luminous., Comment: 10 pages, 6 Postscript figures

Observational evidence of extended MeV emissions that may be associated with high velocity clouds (HVCs) is reported on. Based on observations acquired between 1991 and 1996 with the Compton telescope (COMPTEL), evidence is found for intense gamma ray radiation at 0.75 to 3 MeV from the general direction of two HVC regions. One bright gamma ray excess is located between the HVC complexes M and A, adjacent to the Lockman hole and is seen to approximately cover a sky area of exceptionally low H I column densities. A second source is detected at the high velocity end of complex C near the Draco Nebula. Both gamma ray excesses appear to consist of a time variable source and a diffuse emission component. The enhanced diffuse soft X-rays seen by Rosat from both HVC regions may be closely related to the gamma ray emission in terms of bremsstrahlung arising from HVC interactions with the galactic disk or lower halo.

The Compton Telescope (COMPTEL) telescope aboard the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory (CGRO) is capable of imaging gamma-ray line sources in the MeV region with a sensitivity of the order 10(exp -5) photons/(sq cm s). During two observations periods in July 1992 and February 1993 the Galactic plane in the region of the young supernova remnant Cas A was observed, showing evidence for line emission at 1.16 MeV from the decay of Ti-44 at a significance level of approximately 4 sigma. This is the first time a supernova remnant has been detected in the gamma-ray line from Ti-44 decay. Adopting a distance of 2.8 kpc to the Cas A remnant, the measured line flux (7.0 +/- 1.7) x 10(exp -5) photons/(sq cm s), can be translated into a Ti-44 mass ejected during the Cas A supernova explosion, between (1.4 +/- 0.4) x 10(exp -4) solar mass and (3.2 +/- 0.8) x 10(exp -4) solar mass, depending on the precise value of the Ti-44 mean life time and on the precise date of the event. Implications of this result for supernova nucleosynthesis models are discussed.

The observation of the Galaxy anticenter region in gamma-rays with E gamma = 5 / 100 MeV was made by gamma-telescope Natalya-1 in a balloon flight. The flight was performed at the ceiling 5.1 + or - 0.1 g/sq cm, magnetic cutoff being 17 GV. The description of the instrument and the analysis of the experiment conditions are given. The tracks of electron-positron pairs generated by gamma-quanta in the convertors were detected by wire spark chambers. The recorded events were classified manually by an operator using a graphic display into three classes: pairs, single and bad events. The arrival angle of gamma-quanta and their energy for selected gamma-ray events (pairs and singles) were determined through multiple scattering of pair components in the convertors. On the basis of the data obtained the celestial maps were made in gamma-rays for E sub gamma 5 MeV and E gamma 20 MeV energy ranges.

A detector of heavy nonrelativistic sea level particles is described. Selection of events is based on the dependence of the particle path on particle mass at a given speed. Cerenkov counters with beta sub tr = 0.59 are used as speed selectors. Mounted above the detector is a scintillation counter for measuring the ionization caused by a particle. The particle track is recorded by spark chambers.
