We consider soliton gas solutions of the modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) equation, where the point spectrum of the condensate is located within a bounded domain in the upper half-plane. We first demonstrate that when the domain is a quadrature and the soliton density is an analytic function, the corresponding deterministic soliton gas coincides with a finite number of solitons, which we call this effect soliton shielding. When the domain is an ellipse and the soliton density is analytic, the corresponding deterministic soliton gas reduces the spectral data to the segment joining the foci. The initial datum of this Cauchy problem is asymptotically step-like oscillatory, described by a periodic elliptic function as \( x \to +\infty \), and it vanishes exponentially fast as \( x \to -\infty \)., Comment: 24 pages

The Degasperis-Procesi (DP) equation \begin{align} &u_t-u_{txx}+3\kappa u_x+4uu_x=3u_x u_{xx}+uu_{xxx}, \nonumber \end{align} serving as an asymptotic approximation for the unidirectional propagation of shallow water waves, is an integrable model of the Camassa-Holm type and admits a $3\times3$ matrix Lax pair. In our previous work, we obtained the long-time asymptotics of the solution $u(x,t)$ to the Cauchy problem for the DP equation in the solitonic region $\{(x,t): \xi>3 \} \cup \{(x,t): \xi<-\frac{3}{8} \}$ and the solitonless region $\{(x,t): -\frac{3}{8}<\xi< 0 \} \cup \{(x,t): 0\leq \xi <3 \}$ where $\xi:=\frac{x}{t}$. In this paper, we derive the leading order approximation to the solution $u(x,t)$ in terms of the solution for the Painlev\'{e} \uppercase\expandafter{\romannumeral2} equation in two transition zones $\left|\xi+\frac{3}{8}\right|t^{2/3}0$ lying between the solitonic region and solitonless region. We consider the Cauchy problem to the general defocusing and focusing $p\times q$ matrix nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger (NLS) equations with initial data allowing arbitrary-order poles and spectral singularities. By establishing the $L^{2}$-Sobolev space bijectivity of the direct and inverse scattering transforms associated with a $(p+q)\times(p+q)$ matrix spectral problem, we prove that both defocusing and focusing matrix NLS equations are globally well-posed in the weighted Sobolev space $H^{1,1}(\mathbb{R})$., Comment: 48 pages

We investigate the soliton resolution and Painlev\'e asymptotics for the focusing Ablowitz-Ladik system with the initial data in a discrete weighted $\ell^2$ space. First, we establish the global well-posedness of this initial-value problem, which is further reformulated as a Riemann-Hilbert problem with higher-order poles. Using Fredholm theory, the Riemann-Hilbert problem with the jump contour consisting of three circles centered around the origin is uniquely solved. Then, by performing a $\bar\partial$-nonlinear steepest descent method to the Riemann-Hilbert problem, we obtain the asymptotic approximation to the solution of the focusing Ablowitz-Ladik system for large time in different space-time regions of the $(n,t)$-half plane. In this paper, we establish the orbital stability of the 1-soliton solution for the derivative nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation under perturbations in $L^2(\mathbb{R})$. In this paper, we develop a Riemann-Hilbert (RH) approach to the Cauchy problem for the two-component modified Camassa-Holm (2-mCH) equation based on its Lax pair. In this paper, we investigate the large time asymptotic behavior in two transition zones for the solutions to the Cauchy problem of the Novikov equation under a nonzero background \begin{align} &u_{t}-u_{txx}+4 u_{x}=3uu_xu_{xx}+u^2u_{xxx}, \nonumber &u(x, 0)=u_{0}(x),\nonumber \end{align} where $u_0(x)\rightarrow \kappa>0, \ x\rightarrow \pm \infty$ and $u_0(x)-\kappa$ is assumed in the Schwarz space. The Ostrovsky-Vakhnenko (OV) equation \begin{align*} &u_{txx}-3\kappa u_x+3u_xu_{xx}+uu_{xxx}=0 \end{align*} is a short wave model of the well-known Degasperis-Procesi equation and admits a $3\times 3$ matrix Lax pair. In this paper, we study the soliton resolution and asymptotic stability of $N$-loop soliton solutions for the OV equation with Schwartz initial data that supports soliton solutions. It is shown that the solution of the Cauchy problem can be characterized via a $3\times 3$ matrix Riemann-Hilbert (RH) problem in a new scale. Further by deforming the RH problem into solvable models with $\bar\partial$-steepest descent method, we obtain the soliton resolution to the OV equation in two space-time regions $x/t>0$ and $x/t<0$. With a $\bar\partial$-generation of the nonlinear steepest descent approach and a double scaling limit technique, in the transition region $$\mathcal{D}:=\left\{(x,t)\in\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{R}^+\big|-C< \left(\frac{x}{2t}+\frac{3}{2}\right) t^{2/3}<0, C\in\mathbb{R}^+\right\},$$ we find that the long-time asymptotics of the solution $q(x,t)$ to the Cauchy problem is associated with the Painlev\'{e}-II transcendents.

In this paper, the $\overline\partial$-steepest descent method and B\"acklund transformation are used to study the asymptotic stability of solitons to the Cauchy problem of focusing Hirota equation. In this paper, we address the existence of global solutions to the Cauchy problem for the integrable nonlocal modified Korteweg-de vries (nonlocal mKdV) equation with the initial data $u_0 \in H^{3}(\mathbb{R}) \cap H^{1,1}(\mathbb{R}) $ with the $L^1(\mathbb{R})$ small-norm assumption. A Lipschitz $L^2$-bijection map between potential and reflection coefficient is established by using inverse scattering method based on a Riemann-Hilbert problem associated with the Cauchy problem. We investigate the large-time asymptotics of solution for the Cauchy problem of the nonlocal focusing modified Kortweg-de Vries (MKdV) equation with step-like initial data, i.e., $u_0(x)\rightarrow 0$ as $x\rightarrow-\infty$, $u_0(x)\rightarrow A$ as $x\rightarrow+\infty$,where $A$ is an arbitrary positive real number. We firstly develop the direct scattering theory to establish the basic Riemann-Hilbert (RH) problem associated with step-like initial data. Thanks to the symmetries $x\rightarrow-x$, $t\rightarrow-t$ of nonlocal MKdV equation, we investigate the asymptotics for $t\rightarrow-\infty$ and $t\rightarrow+\infty$ respectively. Our main technique is to use the steepest descent analysis to deform the original matrix-valued RH problem to corresponded regular RH problem, which could be explicitly solved. Consideration in the present paper is the existence of global solutions for the modified Camassa-Holm (mCH) equation with a nonzero background initial value. The mCH equation is completely integrable and can be considered as a model for the unidirectional propagation of shallow-water waves. In this paper, we address the existence of global solutions to the Cauchy problem for the integrable nonlocal nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger (nonlocal NLS) equation with the initial data $q_0(x)\in H^{1,1}(\R)$ with the $L^1(\R)$ small-norm assumption. We obtain the the existence of global solutions to the Cauchy problem of the Fokas-Lenells (FL) equation on the line \begin{align} &u_{xt}+\alpha\beta^2u-2i\alpha\beta u_x-\alpha u_{xx}-i\alpha\beta^2|u|^2u_x=0,\nonumber \\ &u(x,t=0)=u_0(x), \nonumber \end{align} where without the small-norm assumption on initial data $u_0(x)\in H^3(\mathbb{R})\cap H^{2,1}(\mathbb{R})$. Our main technical tool is the inverse scattering transform method based on the representation of a Riemann-Hilbert (RH) problem associated with the above Cauchy problem. The existence and the uniqueness of the RH problem is shown via a general vanishing lemma. The spectral problem associated with the FL equation is changed into an equivalent Zakharov-Shabat-type spectral problem to establish the RH problems on the real axis. By representing the solutions of the RH problem via the Cauchy integral protection and the reflection coefficients, the reconstruction formula is used to obtain a unique local solution of the FL equation. Further, the eigenfunctions and the reflection coefficients are shown Lipschitz continuous with respect to initial data, which provides a priori estimate of the solution to the FL equation. Based on the local solution and the uniformly priori estimate, we construct a unique global solution in $H^3(\mathbb{R})\cap H^{2,1}(\mathbb{R})$ to the FL equation., Comment: 67 pages

In this paper, we establish $L^2$-Sobolev space bijectivity of the inverse scattering transform related to the defocusing Ablowitz-Ladik system. On the one hand, in the direct problem, based on the spectral problem, we establish the reflection coefficient and the corespondent Riemann-Hilbert problem. And we also prove that if the potential belongs to $l^{2,k}$ space, then the reflection coefficient belongs to $H^k_\theta(\Sigma)$. On the other hand, in the inverse problem, based on the Riemann-Hilbert problem, we obtain the corespondent reconstructed formula and recover potentials from reflection coefficients. And we also confirm that if reflection coefficients are in $H^k_\theta(\Sigma)$, then we show that potentials also belong to $l^{2,k}$. This study also confirm that for the initial-valued problem of defocusing Ablowitz-Ladik equations, it the initial potential belongs to $l^{2,k}$ and satisfying $\parallel q\parallel_\infty<1$, then the solution for $t\ne0$ also belongs to $l^{2,k}$.

We study the long time asymptotic behavior for the Cauchy problem of an integrable real nonlocal mKdV equation with nonzero initial data in the solitonic regions \begin{align*} &q_t(x,t)-6\sigma q(x,t)q(-x,-t)q_{x}(x,t)+q_{xxx}(x,t)=0, &q(x,0)=q_{0}(x),\ \ \lim_{x\to \pm\infty} q_{0}(x)=q_{\pm}, \end{align*} where $|q_{\pm}|=1$ and $q_{+}=\delta q_{-}$, $\sigma\delta=-1$. In our previous article, we have obtained long time asymptotics for the nonlocal mKdV equation in the solitonic region $-6<\xi<6$ with $\xi=\frac{x}{t}$. In this paper, we calculate the asymptotic expansion of the solution $q(x,t)$ for other solitonic regions $\xi<-6$ and $\xi>6$. Based on the Riemann-Hilbert problem of the the Cauchy problem, further using the $\bar{\partial}$ steepest descent method, we derive different long time asymptotic expansions of the solution $q(x,t)$ in above two different space-time solitonic regions. In the region $\xi<-6$, phase function $\theta(z)$ has four stationary phase points on the $\mathbb{R}$. Correspondingly, $q(x,t)$ can be characterized with an $\mathcal{N}(\Lambda)$-soliton on discrete spectrum, the leading order term on continuous spectrum and an residual error term, which are affected by a function ${\rm Im}\nu(\zeta_i)$. In the region $\xi>6$, phase function $\theta(z)$ has four stationary phase points on $i\mathbb{R}$, the corresponding asymptotic approximations can be characterized with an $\mathcal{N}(\Lambda)$-soliton with diverse residual error order $\mathcal{O}(t^{-1})$., Comment: 59 pages

We study the long time asymptotic behavior for the Cauchy problem of the modified Camassa-Holm (mCH) equation with step-like initial data \begin{align} &m_{t}+\left(m\left(u^{2}-u_{x}^{2}\right)\right)_{x}=0, \quad m=u-u_{xx}, \nonumber \\ &u(x,0)=u_0(x)\to \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} A_1, &\ x\to+\infty,\\[5pt] A_2, &\ x\to-\infty, \end{array}\right.\nonumber \end{align} where $A_1$ and $A_2$ are two positive constants. Our main technical tool is the representation of the Cauchy problem with an associated matrix Riemann-Hilbert (RH) problem and the consequent asymptotic analysis of this RH problem. Based on the spectral analysis of the Lax pair associated with the mCH equation and scattering matrix, the solution of the step-like initial problem is characterized via the solution of a RH problem in the new scale $(y,t)$. We adopt double coordinates $(\xi, c)$ to divide the half-plane $\{ (\xi,c): \xi \in \mathbb{R}, \ c> 0, \ \xi=y/t\}$ into four asymptotic regions. Further using the Deift-Zhou steepest descent method, we derive different long time asymptotic expansion of the solution $u(y,t)$ in different space-time regions by the different choice of g-function. The corresponding leading asymptotic approximations are given with the slow/fast decay step-like background wave in genus-0 regions and elliptic waves in genus-2 regions. The second term of the asymptotics is characterized by Airy function or parabolic cylinder model. We consider the Cauchy problem for the classical Hirota equation on the line with decaying initial data. Based on the spectral analysis of the Lax pair of the Hirota equation, we first expressed the solution of the Cauchy problem in terms of the solution of a Riemann-Hilbert problem. Further we apply nonlinear steepest descent analysis to obtain the long-time asymptotics of the solution in the critical transition region $|\frac{x}{t} - \frac{\alpha^2}{3\beta}|t^{2/3} \leq M$, $M$ is a positive constant. In this paper, we extend $\overline\partial$ steepest descent method to study the Cauchy problem for the nonlocal nonlinear Schr\"odinger (NNLS) equation with weighted Sobolev initial data %and finite density initial data \begin{align*} &iq_{t}+q_{xx}+2\sigma q^2(x,t)\overline{q}(-x,t)=0, & q(x,0)=q_0(x), \end{align*} where $ q_0(x)\in L^{1,1}(\mathbb{R})\cap L^{2,1/2}(\mathbb{R})$. Based on the spectral analysis of the Lax pair, the solution of the Cauchy problem is expressed in terms of solutions of a Riemann-Hilbert problem, which is transformed into a solvable model after a series of deformations. Finally, we obtain the asymptotic expansion of the Cauchy problem for the NNLS equation in solitonic region. The leading order term is soliton solutions, the second term is the error term is the interaction between solitons and dispersion, the error term comes from the corresponding $\bar{\partial}$ equation. The Sasa-Satsuma equation with $3 \times 3 $ Lax representation is one of the integrable extensions of the nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger equation. In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem of the Sasa-Satsuma equation with generic decaying initial data. Based on the Rieamnn-Hilbert problem characterization for the Cauchy problem and the $\overline{\partial}$-nonlinear steepest descent method, we find qualitatively different long time asymptotic forms for the Sasa-Satsuma equation in three solitonic space-time regions: (1)\ For the region $x<0, |x/t|=\mathcal{O}(1)$, the long time asymptotic is given by $$q(x,t)=u_{sol}(x,t| \sigma_{d}(\mathcal{I})) + t^{-1/2} h + \mathcal{O} (t^{-3/4}). $$ in which the leading term is $N(I)$ solitons, the second term the second $t^{-1/2}$ order term is soliton-radiation interactions and the third term is a residual error from a $\overline\partial$ equation. (2)\ For the region $ x>0, |x/t|=\mathcal{O}(1)$, the long time asymptotic is given by $$ u(x,t)= u_{sol}(x,t| \sigma_{d}(\mathcal{I})) + \mathcal{O}(t^{-1}).$$ in which the leading term is $N(I)$ solitons, the second term is a residual error from a $\overline\partial$ equation. In this paper, we are interested in the large-time asymptotics in the space-time region $ |x/(2t)|>1$ which is outside the soliton region, but there will be two stationary points appearing on the jump contour $\mathbb{R}$. We found a asymptotic expansion that is different from (\ref{res1}) $$\begin{align} q(x,t)= e^{-i\alpha(\infty)} \left(1 +t^{-1/2} h(x,t) \right)+\mathcal{O}\left(t^{-3/4}\right),\label{res2} \end{align}$$ whose leading term is a nonzero background, the second $t^{-1/2}$ order term is from continuous spectrum and the third term $\mathcal{O}(t^{-3/4})$ is a residual error from a $\overline\partial$-equation.The above two asymptotic results (\ref{res1}) and (\ref{res2}) imply that the region $ |x/(2t)|<1$ considered by Cuccagna and Jenkins is a fast decaying soliton solution region, while the region $ |x/(2t)|>1$ considered by us is a slow decaying nonzero background region., Comment: 53 pages

We investigate the long-time asymptotics for the solutions to the Cauchy problem of defocusing modified Kortweg-de Vries (mKdV) equation with finite density initial data. The present paper is the subsequent work of our previous paper [arXiv:2108.03650], which gives the soliton resolution for the defocusing mKdV equation in the central asymptotic sector $\{(x,t): \vert \xi \vert<6\}$ with $\xi:=x/t$. In this paper, we study the long time asymptotic behavior for the Cauchy problem of the Novikov equation with $3\times 3$ matrix spectral problem \begin{align} &u_{t}-u_{txx}+4 u_{x}=3uu_xu_{xx}+u^2u_{xxx}, \nonumber &u(x, 0)=u_{0}(x),\nonumber \end{align} where $u_0(x)$ $u_0(x)\rightarrow \kappa>0, \ x\rightarrow \pm \infty$ and $u_0(x)-\kappa$ is assumed in the Schwarz space. In this paper, we use the $\bar{\partial}$ steepest descent method to study the initial value problem for focusing nonlinear Schr\"odinger (fNLS) equation with non-generic weighted Sobolev initial data that allows for the presence of high-order discrete spectrum. More precisely, we shall characterize the properties of the eigenfunctions and scattering coefficients in the presence of high-order poles; further we formulate an appropriate enlarged RH problem; after a series of deformations, the RH problem is transformed into a solvable model. Finally, we obtain the asymptotic expansion of the solution of the fNLS equation in any fixed space-time cone: %as $t \to \infty$, \begin{equation*} \mathcal{S}(x_1,x_2,v_1,v_2):=\left\lbrace (x,t)\in \mathbb{R}^2: x=x_0+vt, \ x_0\in[x_1,x_2]\text{, }v\in[v_1,v_2]\right\rbrace. \end{equation*} Observing the result indicates that the solution of fNLS equation in this case satisfies the soliton resolution conjecture. We study the long-time asymptotic behavior of the focusing Fokas-Lenells (FL) equation $$ u_{xt}+\alpha\beta^2u-2i\alpha\beta u_x-\alpha u_{xx}-i\alpha\beta^2|u|^2u_x=0 \label{cs} $$ with generic initial data in a Sobolev space which supports bright soliton solutions. The FL equation is an integrable generalization of the well-known Schrodinger equation, and also linked to the derivative Schrodinger model, but it exhibits several different characteristics from theirs. (i) The Lax pair of the FL equation involves an additional spectral singularity at $k=0$. (ii) four stationary phase points will appear during asymptotic analysis, which require a more detailed necessary description to obtain the long-time asymptotics of the focusing FL equation. In this paper, we study the strong asymptotic for the orthogonal polynomials and universality associated with singularly perturbed Pollaczek-Jacobi type weight $$w_{p_J2}(x,t)=e^{-\frac{t}{x(1-x)}}x^\alpha(1-x)^\beta, $$ where $t \ge 0$, $\alpha >0$, $\beta >0$ and $x \in [0,1].$ Our main results obtained here include two aspects: { I. Strong asymptotics:} We obtain the strong asymptotic expansions for the monic Pollaczek-Jacobi type orthogonal polynomials in different interval $(0,1)$ and outside of interval $\mathbb{C}\backslash (0,1)$, respectively; Due to the effect of $\frac{t}{x(1-x)}$ for varying $t$, different asymptotic behaviors at the hard edge $0$ and $1$ were found with different scaling schemes. Specifically, the uniform asymptotic behavior can be expressed as a Airy function in the neighborhood of point $1$ as $\zeta= 2n^2t \to \infty, n\to \infty$, while it is given by a Bessel function as $\zeta \to 0, n \to \infty$. { II. Universality:} We respectively calculate the limit of the eigenvalue correlation kernel in the bulk of the spectrum and at the both side of hard edge, which will involve a $\psi$-functions associated with a particular Painlev$\acute{e}$ \uppercase\expandafter{\romannumeral3} equation near $x=\pm 1$. We concentrate on inverse scattering transformation for the Sasa-Satsuma equation with $3\times 3$ matrix spectral and nonzero boundary condition in this article. To circumvent multi valuedness of eigenvalues, we introduce a suitable two-sheet Riemann surface to map the original spectral parameter $k$ into a single-valued parameter $z$. The analyticity of the Jost eigenfunctions and scattering coefficients of Lax pair for the SS equation are analyzed in details. According to the analyticity of eigenfunctions and scattering coefficients, the $z$-complex plane is divided into four analytic regions $D_j, \ j=1, 2, 3, 4$. Since the second column of Jost eigenfunctions is analytic in $D_{j}, \ j=1, 2, 3, 4$, but in upper-half or lower-half plane, we introduce certain auxiliary eigenfunctions which are necessary for deriving the analytic eigenfunctions in $D_{j}$. We find that for the eigenfunctions, scattering coefficients and the auxiliary eigenfunctions all possess three kinds of symmetries, which characterize the distribution of discrete spectrum. The asymptotic behaviors of eigenfunctions, auxiliary eigenfunctions and scattering coefficients are also systematically derived. Then a matrix Riemann-Hilbert problem with four kind jump conditions associated with the problem of nonzero asymptotic boundary conditions is established, from which $N$-soliton solutions is obtained via the corresponding reconstruction formulae. The reflectionless soliton solutions are explicitly given. In this article, we focus on investigating the focusing Kundu-Eckhaus equation with nonzero boundary condition.
