Blockchained federated learning (BFL) combines the concepts of federated learning and blockchain technology to enhance privacy, security, and transparency in collaborative machine learning models. However, implementing BFL frameworks poses challenges in terms of scalability and cost-effectiveness. Reputation-aware BFL poses even more challenges, as blockchain validators are tasked with processing federated learning transactions along with the transactions that evaluate FL tasks and aggregate reputations. This leads to faster blockchain congestion and performance degradation. To improve BFL efficiency while increasing scalability and reducing on-chain reputation management costs, this paper proposes AutoDFL, a scalable and automated reputation-aware decentralized federated learning framework. AutoDFL leverages zk-Rollups as a Layer-2 scaling solution to boost the performance while maintaining the same level of security as the underlying Layer-1 blockchain. Moreover, AutoDFL introduces an automated and fair reputation model designed to incentivize federated learning actors. We develop a proof of concept for our framework for an accurate evaluation. Relaxations of localized over-density in a plane transverse to the magnetic field are numericallyinvestigated under the effect of drift-wave and interchange drives in SOL conditions. Such a controlleddeparture from thermodynamic equilibrium allows the investigation of fundamental processesat play in cross-field transport. Interchange instabilities generate ballistic outward radial flux withlow amplitude zonal flow patterns, whereas drift-wave instabilities result in symmetric radial fluxwith large amplitude zonal flow patterns. When both instabilities are considered, the combinedeffects tend to favor drift-waves, leading to a weaker outward flux with larger zonal flow patterns.

Reduced quasilinear (QL) and nonlinear (gradient-driven) models with scale separations, commonly used to interpret experiments and to forecast turbulent transport levels in magnetised plasmas are tested against nonlinear models without scale separations (flux-driven). Two distinct regimes of turbulence -- either far above threshold or near marginal stability -- are investigated with Boltzmann electrons. The success of reduced models especially hinges on the reproduction of nonlinear fluxes. Good agreement between models is found above threshold whilst reduced models would significantly underpredict fluxes near marginality, overlooking mesoscale flow organisation and turbulence self-advection. Constructive prescriptions whereby to improve reduced models is discussed.

Full self-consistent stationary Vlasov-Maxwell solutions of magnetically confined plasmas are built for systems with cylindrical symmetries. The stationary solutions are thermodynamic equilibrium solutions. These are obtained by computing the equilibrium distribution function resulting from maximizing the entropy and closing the equations with source terms that are then computed by using the obtained distribution. This leads to a self-consistent problem corresponding to solving a set of two coupled second order non-linear differential equations. Relevant plasma parameters are introduced and a bifurcation leading to an improvement of plasma confinement is shown. Conversely in the improved confinement setting, we exhibit the emergence of a separatrix in the integrable motion of a charged particles.

Turbulent plasmas notably self-organize to higher energy states upon application of additional free energy sources or modification of edge operating conditions. Mechanisms whereby such bifurcations occur have been actively debated for decades. Enhanced confinement occurs at the plasma edge, where a shortfall of predicted turbulence intensity has been puzzling scientists for decades. We show, from the primitive kinetic equations that both problems are connected and that interplay of confined plasma turbulence with its material boundaries is essential to curing the shortfall of predicted turbulence and to triggering spontaneous transport barrier onset at the plasma edge. Both problems determine access to improved confinement and are central to fusion research. A comprehensive discussion of the underlying mechanisms is proposed. These results, highly relevant to the quest for magnetic fusion may also be generic to many problems in fluids and plasmas where turbulence self-advection is active.

A new basis has been found for the theory of self-organization of transport avalanches and jet zonal flows in L-mode tokamak plasma, the so-called "plasma staircase." The jet zonal flows are considered as a wave packet of coupled nonlinear oscillators characterized by a complex time- and wave-number dependent wave function; in a mean-field approximation this function is argued to obey a discrete nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation with subquadratic power nonlinearity. It is shown that the subquadratic power leads directly to a white L\'evy noise, and to a L\'evy-fractional Fokker-Planck equation for radial transport of test particles (via wave-particle interactions). In a self-consistent description the avalanches, which are driven by the white L\'evy noise, interact with the jet zonal flows, which form a system of semi-permeable barriers to radial transport. We argue that the plasma staircase saturates at a state of marginal stability, in whose vicinity the avalanches undergo an ever-pursuing localization-delocalization transition. At the transition point, the event-size distribution of the avalanches is found to be a power-law $w_\tau (\Delta n) \sim \Delta n^{-\tau}$, with the drop-off exponent $\tau = ({\sqrt{17}} + 1)/{2} \simeq 2.56$. This value is an exact result of the self-consistent model. The edge behavior bears signatures enabling to associate it with the dynamics of a self-organized critical (SOC) state. At the same time the critical exponents, pertaining to this state, are found to be inconsistent with classic models of avalanche transport based on sand-piles and their generalizations, suggesting that the coupled avalanche-jet zonal flow system operates on different organizing principles. Starting from the given passive particle equilibrium particle cylindrical profiles, we built self-consistent stationary conditions of the Maxwell-Vlasov equation at thermodynamic equilibrium with non-flat density profiles. The solutions to the obtained equations are then discussed. It appears that the presence of an azimuthal (poloidal) flow in the plasma can insure radial confinement, while the presence of a longitudinal (toroidal) flow can enhance greatly the confinement. Moreover in the global physically reasonable situation, we find that no unstable point can emerge in the effective integrable Hamiltonian of the individual particles, hinting at some stability of the confinement when considering a toroidal geometry in the large aspect ratio limit.

Charged particles with low kinetic energy move along magnetic field lines, but so do not energetic particles. We investigate the topological structure changes in the phase space of energetic particles with respect to the magnetic one. For this study cylindrical magnetic fields with non-monotonic safety factors that induce the magnetic internal transport barrier are considered. We show that the topological structure of the magnetic field line and of the particle trajectories can be quite different. We explain this difference using the concept of effective particle $q$-profile. Using this notion we can investigate the location and existence of resonances for particle orbits that are different from the magnetic ones. These are examined both numerically by integrating an equation of motion and theoretically by use of Alfv\'en's guiding center theory and by use of the effective reduced Hamiltonian for the integrable unperturbed system. It is clarified that, for the energetic particles, the grad $B$ drift effect shifts the resonances and the drift induced by curvature of the magnetic field line leads to the vanishing of the resonances. As a result, we give two different mechanisms that lead to the creation of transport barriers for energetic particles in the region where the magnetic field line is chaotic., Comment: 8 pages, 10 figures

We present a numerical study of charged particle motion in a time-independent magnetic field in cylindrical geometry. The magnetic field model consists of an unperturbed reversed-shear helical part and a perturbation consisting of a superposition of modes. Contrary to most of the previous studies, the particle trajectories are computed by directly solving the full Lorentz force equations of motion in a six-dimensional phase space using a sixth-order, implicit, symplectic Gauss-Legendre method. The level of stochasticity in the particle orbits is diagnosed using averaged, effective Poincare sections. It is shown that when only one mode is present the particle orbits can be stochastic even though the magnetic field line orbits are not stochastic. The lack of integrability of the particle orbits in this case is related to separatrix crossing and the breakdown of the global conservation of the magnetic moment. Some perturbation consisting of two modes creates resonance overlapping, leading to Hamiltonian chaos in magnetic field lines. Then, the particle orbits exhibit a nontrivial dynamics depending on their energy and pitch angle. It is shown that the regions where the particle motion is stochastic decrease as the energy increases. The non-monotonicity of the $q$-profile implies the existence of magnetic ITBs which correspond to shearless flux surfaces located in the vicinity of the $q$-profile minimum. It is shown that depending on the energy, these magnetic ITBs might or might not confine particles. That is, magnetic ITBs act as an energy-dependent particle confinement filter. Magnetic field lines in reversed-shear configurations exhibit topological bifurcations due to separatrix reconnection. We show that a similar but more complex scenario appears in the case of particle orbits that depends in a non-trivial way on the energy and pitch angle of the particles., Comment: 25 pages, accepted for publication in Phys. The Projection on Proper elements (PoPe) is a novel method of code control dedicated to 1) checking the correct implementation of models, 2) determining the convergence of numerical methods and 3) characterizing the residual errors of any given solution at very low cost. The basic idea is to establish a bijection between a simulation and a set of equations that generate it. Recovering equations is direct and relies on a statistical measure of the weight of the various operators. This method can be used in any dimensions and any regime, including chaotic ones. This method also provides a procedure to design reduced models and quantify the ratio costs to benefits. PoPe is applied to a kinetic and a fluid code of plasma turbulence.

A novel and generic understanding of spontaneous generation of transport barriers and zonation regimes in turbulent self-organization is presented. It associates the barrier onset to the development of a spectral gap between large scale flows and turbulence modes leading to a zonation regime. A robust barrier builds-up at the interface of such a region and a neighboring one with reduced zonal flow generation. This more complex and generic transition paradigm could fit the numerous and sometimes conflicting observations as in fusion plasma experiments. Barrier relaxation by bursts of turbulence regenerate the zonal flows that are eroded by viscous (collisional-like) damping. The duration of the quiescent phase between the quasi-periodic relaxation events is governed by this damping process, hence the barrier collision frequency for fusion plasmas.

Non Regression Testing (NRT) aims to check if software modifications result in undesired behaviour. Suppose the behaviour of the application previously known, this kind of test makes it possible to identify an eventual regression, a bug. Improving and tuning a parallel code can be a time-consuming and difficult task, especially whenever people from different scientific fields interact closely. The JOREK code aims at investing Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) instabilities in a Tokamak plasma. This paper describes the NRT procedure that has been tuned for this simulation code. Between 1995 and 2009, electron temperature (Te) measurements of more than 15000 plasmas produced in the Joint European Torus (JET) have been carefully reviewed using the two main diagnostics available over this time period: Michelson interferometer and Thomson scattering systems. Long term stability of JET Te is experimentaly observed by defining the ECE TS ratio as the ratio of central Te measured by Michelson and LIDAR. This paper, based on a careful review of Te measurement from 15 years of JET plasmas, concludes that JET Te exhibits a 15-20% effective uncertainty mostly made of large-scale temporal drifts, and an overall uncertainty of 16-22%. Variations of 18 plasma parameters are checked in another data set, made of a "reference data set" made of ohmic pulses as similar as possible between 1998 and 2009. Time drifts of ECE TS ratios appear to be mostly disconnected from the variations observed on these 18 plasma parameters, except for the very low amplitude variations of the field which are well correlated with off-plasma variations of a 8-channel integrator module used for measuring many magnetic signals from JET. From mid-2002 to 2009, temporal drifts of ECE TS ratios are regarded as calibration drifts possibly caused by unexpected sensitivity to unknown parameters; the external temperature on JET site might be the best parameter suspected so far. Off-plasma monitoring of MI made of calibration performed in the laboratory are reported and do not appear to be clearly correlated with drifts of ECE TS ratio and variations of magnetics signals integrators. Comparison of estimations of plasma thermal energy for purely Ohmic and NBI-only plasmas does not provide any definite information on the accuracy of \mi or \lidar measurements. Introduced in 1971, the French "Continuing Vocational Training (CVT)" system was designed to promote workers'"socio-professional promotion." The contribution of its induced mobility to the fulfillment of this objective has always been considered as one of its key performance indicators. Outcomes of the CVT over the last 3 decades were examined, using the French National Board for Statistics' successive surveys on Vocational Training and Qualifications. The results confirm the general tendency of an increasing horizontal mobility in the workforce at the expense of a declining promotional mobility (known for its high link with socio-professional promotion). Various groups of employees were identified, from those needing structure to autonomous types dedicated mostly to their own careers. With the old industrial-model hierarchical structures disappearing and being replaced with flat organizations, fewer employees were dedicated to their employers and fewer were able to move into higher socio-professional employment categories. The second section of this paper examines the concomitant change in the dynamics of vocational identity formation processes affecting the performance of the CVT system during the same period. Continuing vocational training (CVT) was officially introduced and codified in France in 1971 to promote individuals' employability, career development, and job flexibility. Self-directed learning was initially considered among the most important instruments for its implementation in addition to employer-directed CVT. Despite increased and diversified efforts to develop self-directed CVT over the past 24 years, it remains a relatively marginal and continually diminishing part of the CVT system. Reasons for this fact include the growing dominance of enterprise-oriented CVT and the insufficiency of the compensatory actions taken by state and local authorities. Improving the performance of self-directed learning within France's CVT system requires that it be merged with the whole initial vocational education and training system and the capacity of all components of the merged system be integrated to achieve the following objectives: (1) develop "transversal competencies" (core skills and key qualifications) that empower individuals in shaping technology, managing their own learning, and transferring skills to complex work tasks; (2) promote curriculum flexibility over time and across individuals and space; (3) provide different learning methods at different times and in different institutions to meet the needs of individuals and groups of individuals; and (4) facilitate access to learning and transfer between different levels and routes of learning.
