The evolution of the critical superconducting temperature and field, quantum oscillation frequencies and effective mass $m^{*}$ in underdoped YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{7-\delta}$ (YBCO) crystals ($p$ = 0.11, with $p$ the hole concentration per Cu atom) points to a partial suppression of the charge orders with increasing pressure up to 7 GPa, mimicking doping. Application of pressures up to 25 GPa pushes the sample to the overdoped side of the superconducting dome. Contrary to other cuprates, or to doping studies on YBCO, the frequency of the quantum oscillations measured in that pressure range do not support the picture of a Fermi-surface reconstruction in the overdoped regime, but possibly point to the existence of a new charge order., Comment: 13 pages, 17 figures

We present an exploration of the effect of electron-phonon coupling and broken inversion symmetry on the electronic and thermal properties of the semimetal LaRhGe$_3$. Our transport measurements reveal evidence for electron-hole compensation at low temperatures, resulting in a large magnetoresistance of 3000% at 1.8 K and 14 T. The carrier concentration is on the order of $10^{21}\rm{/cm}^3$ with high carrier mobilities of $2000~\rm{cm}^2/\rm{Vs}$. When coupled to our theoretical demonstration of symmetry-protected $\textit{almost movable}$ Weyl nodal lines, we conclude that LaRhGe$_3$ supports a Weyl semimetallic state. We discover superconductivity in this compound with a $T_{\text c}$ of 0.39(1) K and $B_{\rm{c}}(0)$ of 2.2(1) mT, with evidence from specific heat and transverse-field muon spin relaxation. We find an exponential dependence in the normal state electrical resistivity below $\sim50$ K, while Seebeck coefficient and thermal conductivity measurements each reveal a prominent peak at low temperatures, indicative of strong electron-phonon interactions. To this end, we examine the temperature-dependent Raman spectra of LaRhGe$_3$ and find that the lifetime of the lowest energy $A_1$ phonon is dominated by phonon-electron scattering instead of anharmonic decay. We conclude that LaRhGe$_3$ has strong electron-phonon coupling in the normal state, while the superconductivity emerges from weak electron-phonon coupling. These results open up the investigation of electron-phonon interactions in the normal state of superconducting non-centrosymmetric Weyl semimetals.

Thanks to high resolution and polarization analysis, resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS) magnetic spectra of La2CuO4, Sr2CuO2Cl2 and CaCuO2 reveal a rich set of properties of the spin 1/2 antiferromagnetic square lattice of cuprates. The leading single-magnon peak energy dispersion is in excellent agreement with the corresponding inelastic neutron scattering measurements. However, the RIXS data unveil an asymmetric lineshape possibly due to odd higher order terms. Moreover, a sharp bimagnon feature emerges from the continuum at (1/2,0), coincident in energy with the bimagnon peak detected in optical spectroscopy. These findings show that the inherently complex spin spectra of cuprates, an exquisite manifestation of quantum magnetism, can be effectively explored by exploiting the richness of RIXS cross sections., Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures

In many high temperature superconductors, small orthorhombic distortions of the lattice structure result in surprisingly large symmetry breaking of the electronic states and macroscopic properties, an effect often referred to as nematicity. To directly study the impact of symmetry-breaking lattice distortions on the electronic states, using low-temperature scanning tunnelling microscopy we image at the atomic scale the influence of strain-tuned lattice distortions on the correlated electronic states in the iron-based superconductor LiFeAs, a material which in its ground state is tetragonal, with four-fold ($C_4$) symmetry. Our experiments uncover a new strain-stabilised modulated phase which exhibits a smectic order in LiFeAs, an electronic state which not only breaks rotational symmetry but also reduces translational symmetry. We follow the evolution of the superconducting gap from the unstrained material with $C_4$ symmetry through the new nematic phase with two-fold ($C_2$) symmetry and charge-density-wave order to a state where superconductivity is completely suppressed., Comment: replaced with published version

The doping efficiency of lithium deposited at cryogenic temperatures on epitaxial and CVD monolayer graphene has been investigated under ultra-high vacuum conditions. Change of charge carrier density was monitored by gate voltage shift of the Dirac point and by Hall measurements, in low and high doping regimes. It was found that pre-annealing the graphene greatly enhanced the maximum levels of doping that could be achieved: doping saturated at $\Delta n = 2\times 10^{13}$ e$^-$/cm$^2$ without annealing, independent of sample type or previous processing; after a 900 K anneal, the saturated doping rose one order of magnitude to $\Delta n = 2\times 10^{14}$ e$^-$/cm$^2$.
