Search

Quantifying multipartite entanglement poses a significant challenge in quantum information theory, prompting recent advancements in methodologies to assess it. We introduce the notion of \enquote{Volume of Assistance} (VoA), which computes the geometric mean of entanglement of assistance across all potential parties. We demonstrate the feasibility of VoA for three-qubit pure states and certain classes of pure tripartite qudit states. We have extended this measure to four-qubit states and general multipartite scenarios. We have done a comparative analysis to illustrate VoA's distinctiveness from established entanglement measures, notably showing it serves as an upper bound for the much celebrated generalized geometric measure (GGM). Remarkably, VoA excels in distinguishing a broad class of states that elude differentiation by the recently proposed Minimum Pairwise Concurrence (MPC) measure. Finally, VoA is applied to quantify genuine entanglement in the ground states of a three-qubit Heisenberg XY model, which highlights its practical utility in quantum information processing tasks., Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures, latex2e, comments welcome

Let $M$ be a compact complex manifold, and $D\, \subset\, M$ a reduced normal crossing divisor on it, such that the logarithmic tangent bundle $TM(-\log D)$ is holomorphically trivial. Let $f : X \rightarrow Y$ be a dominant generically smooth morphism between irreducible smooth projective curves over an algebraically closed field $k$ such that ${\rm Char}(k)> \text{degree}(f)$ if the characteristic of $k$ is nonzero. We prove that $(f_*{\mathcal O}_X)/{\mathcal O}_Y$ equipped with a natural parabolic structure is parabolic polystable. We give a conjectural formula for the characteristic number of rational cuspidal curves in the projective plane by extending the idea of Kontsevich's recursion formula (namely, pulling back the equality of two divisors in the four pointed moduli space). The key geometric input that is needed here is that in the closure of rational cuspidal curves, there are two component rational curves which are tangent to each other at the nodal point. While this fact is geometrically quite believable, we haven't as yet proved it; hence our formula is for the moment conjectural. The answers that we obtain agree with what has been computed earlier Ran, Pandharipande, Zinger and Ernstrom and Kennedy. A moduli space of stable maps to the fibers of a fiber bundle is constructed. The new moduli space is a family version of the classical moduli space of stable maps to a non-singular complex projective variety. The virtual cycle for this moduli space is also constructed, and an analogue of Gromov-Witten invariants is defined. As an application, we recover the formula for the number of rational degree d curves in P3, whose image lies in a plane in P3 (known as planar curves in P3), intersecting r general lines while passing through given s general points, where r + 2s = 3d + 2, firstly proved by R. Mukherjee, R. Kumar Singh and the fourth named author.

A topological space (not necessarily simply connected) is said to have finite homotopy rank-sum if the sum of the ranks of all higher homotopy groups (from the second homotopy group onward) is finite. In this article, we characterize the smooth compact complex Kaehler surfaces having finite homotopy rank-sum. We show that the Poisson structure on the smooth locus of a moduli space of 1-dimensional sheaves on a Poisson projective surface $X$ over $\mathbb C$ is a reduction of a natural symplectic structure.

Based on the conviction of switching information from locally accessible to locally hidden environs, the concept of hidden nonlocality activation has recently been highlighted by Bandyopadhyay et al. in [Phys. Rev. A 104, L050201 (2021)]. They have demonstrated that a certain locally distinguishable set of pure quantum states can be transformed into a locally indistinguishable set with certainty through orthogonality preserving local measurements (OPLMs). This transformation makes the set locally inaccessible, despite being locally accessible before. This phenomenon is defined as the activation of hidden nonlocality. In this paper, we present two classes of locally distinguishable sets within $(2m+1) \otimes 2 \otimes (2m+1)$ systems. One class reveals nonlocality through local operations, whereas the other requires joint measurements for it. As the later class depends on nonlocal operations to exhibit nonlocality, it arguably has a lower degree of nonlocality, and accordingly, can be considered as more local compared to the first class. This analysis exhibits a stronger manifestation of locality by elucidating the nuanced interplay between these distinct local phenomena within the framework of quantum state discrimination. Furthermore, we also explore their significant applications in the context of data hiding. The Caporaso-Harris formula gives a recursive algorithm to enumerate delta nodal degree d curves in P^2. The recursion is obtained in terms of curves of lower degree that are tangent to a given divisor. This paper presents two generalizations of this method. The first result is on enumeration of one cuspidal curves on P^2, and the second result is an extension to the fiber bundle setting. We prove that the direct image of an anti-ample vector bundle is anti-ample under any finite flat morphism of non-singular projective varieties. In the second part we prove some properties of big and nef vector bundles. Given a holomorphic Lie algebroid on an m-pointed Riemann surface, we define parabolic Lie algebroid connections on any parabolic vector bundle equipped with parabolic structure over the marked points. An analogue of the Atiyah exact sequence for parabolic Lie algebroids is constructed. For any Lie algebroid whose underlying holomorphic vector bundle is stable, we give a complete characterization of all the parabolic vector bundles that admit a parabolic Lie algebroid connection., Comment: 23 pages

Let $X$ be a compact connected Riemann surface, and let ${\mathcal Q}(r,d)$ denote the quot scheme parametrizing the torsion quotients of ${\mathcal O}^{\oplus r}_X$ of degree $d$. Given a projective structure $P$ on $X$, we show that the cotangent bundle $T^*{\mathcal U}$ of a certain nonempty Zariski open subset ${\mathcal U}\, \subset\, {\mathcal Q}(r,d)$, equipped with the natural Liouville symplectic form, admits a canonical deformation quantization. Let $G$ be a semisimple complex algebraic group with a simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, and let $\mathcal{M}^0_{G}$ denote the moduli stack of topologically trivial stable $G$-bundles on a smooth projective curve $C$. Fix a theta characteristic $\kappa$ on $C$ which is even in case $\dim{\mathfrak{g}}$ is odd. We show that there is a nonempty Zariski open substack ${\mathcal U}_\kappa$ of $\mathcal{M}^0_{G}$ such that $H^i(C,\, \text{ad}(E_G)\otimes\kappa) \,=\, 0$, $i\,=\, 1,\, 2$, for all $E_G\,\in\, {\mathcal U}_\kappa$. It is shown that any such $E_G$ has a canonical connection. It is also shown that the tangent bundle $T{U}_\kappa$ has a natural splitting, where $U_{\kappa}$ is the restriction of $\mathcal{U}_{\kappa}$ to the semi-stable locus. An unextendible biseparable basis (UBB) is a set of orthogonal pure biseparable states which span a subspace of a given Hilbert space while the complementary subspace contains only genuinely entangled states. These biseparable bases are useful to produce genuinely entangled subspace in multipartite system. Such a subspace could be more beneficial for information theoretic applications if we are able to extract distillable entanglement across every bipartition from each state of this subspace. In this manuscript, we have derived a rule for constructing such a class of UBB which exhibits the phenomenon of strong quantum nonlocality. This result positively answers the open problem raised by Agrawal et al. [Phys. Rev. A local classification of semisimple algebras of vector fields on $\mathbb{C}^{3}$ is given, using the canonical forms of the Heisenberg algebra and of $sl(2,\mathbb{C})\times sl(2,\mathbb{C})$.

We give a characterization of genuinely ramified maps of formal orbifolds in the Tannakian framework. In particular we show that a morphism is genuinely ramified if and only if the pullback of every stable bundle remains stable in the orbifold category. We also give some other characterizations of genuine ramification. This generalizes the results of [BKP1] and [BP1]. Given a compact Riemann surface $X$, we consider the line, in the space of sections of $2\Theta$ on $J^0(X)$, orthogonal to all the sections that vanish at the origin. This line produces a natural meromorphic bidifferential on $X\times X$ with a pole of order two on the diagonal. This bidifferential is extensively investigated. Interpreting tangency as a limit of two transverse intersections, we obtain a concrete formula to enumerate smooth degree d plane curves tangent to a given line at multiple points with arbitrary order of tangency. One nodal curves with multiple tangencies of any order are enumerated. Also, one cuspidal curves, that are tangent to first order to a given line at multiple points, are enumerated. We also present a new way to enumerate curves with one node; it is interpreted as a degeneration of a curve tangent to a given line. That method is extended to enumerate curves with two nodes, and also curves with one tacnode are enumerated. In the final part of the paper, it is shown how this idea can be applied in the setting of stable maps and perform a concrete computation to enumerate rational curves with first order tangency. We introduce three notion of tameness of the Nori fundamental group scheme for a normal quasiprojective variety $X$ over an algebraically closed field. It is proved that these three notions agree if $X$ admits a smooth completion with strict normal crossing divisor as the complement. We prove that any holomorphic vector bundle admitting a holomorphic connection, over a compact K\"ahler Calabi-Yau manifold, also admits a flat holomorphic connection. This addresses a particular case of a question asked by Atiyah and generalizes a result previously obtained in \cite{BD} for simply connected compact K\"ahler Calabi-Yau manifolds. We give some applications of it in the framework of Cartan geometries and foliated Cartan geometries on K\"ahler Calabi-Yau manifolds., Comment: Final version

First we survey and explain the strategy of some recent results that construct holomorphic $\text{sl}(2, \mathbb C)$-differential systems over some Riemann surfaces $\Sigma_g$ of genus $g\geq 2$, satisfying the condition that the image of the associated monodromy homomorphism is (real) Fuchsian \cite{BDHH} or some cocompact Kleinian subgroup $$\Gamma \subset \text{SL}(2, \mathbb C)$$ as in \cite{BDHH2}. As a consequence, there exist holomorphic maps from $\Sigma_g$ to the quotient space $\text{SL}(2, \mathbb C)/ \Gamma$, where $\Gamma \subset \text{SL}(2, \mathbb C)$ is a cocompact lattice, that do not factor through any elliptic curve \cite{BDHH2}. This answers positively a question of Ghys in \cite{Gh}; the question was also raised by Huckleberry and Winkelmann in \cite{HW}. Then we prove that when $M$ is a Riemann surface, a Torelli type theorem holds for the affine group scheme over $\mathbb C$ obtained from the category of holomorphic connections on {\it \'etale trivial} holomorphic bundles. After that, we explain how to compute in a simple way the holonomy of a holomorphic connection on a free vector bundle. Finally, for a compact K\"ahler manifold $M$, we investigate the neutral Tannakian category given by the holomorphic connections on \'etale trivial holomorphic bundles over $M$. If $\varpi$ (respectively, $\Theta$) stands for the affine group scheme over $\mathbb C$ obtained from the category of connections (respectively, connections on free (trivial) vector bundles), then the natural inclusion produces a morphism $v:{\mathcal O}(\Theta)\longrightarrow {\mathcal O}(\varpi)$ of Hopf algebras. Given any irreducible smooth complex projective curve $X$, of genus at least $2$, consider the moduli stack of vector bundles on $X$ of fixed rank and determinant. It is proved that the isomorphism class of the stack uniquely determines the isomorphism class of the curve $X$ and the rank of the vector bundles. The case of trivial determinant, rank $2$ and genus $2$ is specially interesting: the curve can be recovered from the moduli stack, but not from the moduli space (since this moduli space is $\mathbb{P}^3$ thus independently of the curve). We also prove a Torelli theorem for moduli stacks of principal $G$-bundles on a curve of genus at least $3$, where $G$ is any non-abelian reductive group., Comment: 19 pages

There are two canonical projective structures on any compact Riemann surface of genus at least two: one coming from the uniformization theorem, and the other from Hodge theory. They produce two (different) families of projective structures over the moduli space $M_g$ of compact Riemann surfaces. A recent work of Biswas, Favale, Pirola, and Torelli shows that families of projective structures over $M_g$ admit an equivalent characterization in terms of complex connections on the dual $\mathcal{L}$ of the determinant of the Hodge line bundle over $M_g$; the same work gave the connection on $\mathcal L$ corresponding to the projective structures coming from uniformization. Here we construct the connection on $\mathcal L$ corresponding to the family of Hodge theoretic projective structures. This connection is described in three different ways: firstly as the connection induced on $\mathcal L$ by the Chern connection of the $L^2$-metric on the Hodge bundle, secondly as an appropriate root of the Quillen metric induced by the (square of the) Theta line bundle on the universal family of abelian varieties, endowed with the natural Hermitian metric given by the polarization, and finally as Quillen connection gotten using the Arakelov metric on the universal curve, modified by Faltings' delta invariant., Comment: Revised version. We give an algebraic-geometric proof of the fact that for a smooth fibration $\pi: X \longrightarrow Y$ of projective varieties, the direct image $\pi_*(L\otimes K_{X/Y})$ of the adjoint line bundle of an ample (respectively, nef and $\pi$-strongly big) line bundle $L$ is ample (respectively, nef and big).

We have proven the existence of new higher-genus maxfaces with Enneper end. These maxfaces are not the companions of any existing minimal surfaces, and furthermore, the singularity set is located away from the ends. A classification of semisimple algebras of vector fields on C^N that have a Cartan subalgebra of dimension N is given. The proof uses basic representation theory and the local canonical form of semisimple Lie algebras of vector fields.

The moduli space of projective structures on a compact oriented surface $\Sigma$ has a holomorphic symplectic structure, which is constructed by pulling back, using the monodromy map, the Atiyah--Bott--Goldman symplectic form on the character variety ${\rm Hom}(\pi_1(\Sigma), \text{PSL}(2, {\mathbb C}))/\!\!/\text{PSL}(2, {\mathbb C})$. We produce another construction of this symplectic form. This construction shows that the symplectic form on the moduli space is actually algebraic. We investigate the moduli space ${\mathcal P}_g$ of smooth complex projective curves of genus $g$ equipped with a projective structure. When $g\, \geq\, 3$, it is shown that this moduli space ${\mathcal P}_g$ does not admit any nonconstant algebraic function. We study which representations $\rho$ of the fundamental group of a compact oriented surface $X$ admit Higgs data that depend holomorphically on the Riemann surface $\Sigma\,=\, (X,\, J)$ via non-abelian Hodge correspondence. For representations $\rho$ into $\mathrm{SL}(2,\mathbb C)$ we show that holomorphic dependency is equivalent to $\rho$ being unitary. For higher ranks this equivalence fails -- we show the existence of non-unitary and irreducible representations of the fundamental group into $\mathrm{SL}(n,\mathbb C)$ admitting Higgs data that are holomorphic in $\Sigma$, for $n$ large enough., Comment: 14 pages

Abstract. Let G be a complex reductive group and A be an Abelian variety of dimension d over $\mathbb{C}$. We determine the Poincar\'e polynomials and also the mixed Hodge polynomials of the moduli space $\mathcal{M}_{A}^{H}(G)$ of G-Higgs bundles over A. We show that these are normal varieties with symplectic singularities, when G is a classical semisimple group. For $G=GL_{n}(\mathbb{C})$, we also compute Poincar\'e polynomials of natural desingularizations of $\mathcal{M}_{A}^{H}(G)$ and of G-character varieties of free abelian groups, in some cases. Let $X$ be a compact complex manifold such that its canonical bundle $K_X$ is numerically trivial. Assume additionally that $X$ is Moishezon or $X$ is Fujiki with dimension at most four. Using the MMP and classical results in foliation theory, we prove a Beauville-Bogomolov type decomposition theorem for $X$. We deduce that holomorphic geometric structures of affine type on $X$ are in fact locally homogeneous away from an analytic subset of complex codimension at least two, and that they cannot be rigid unless $X$ is an \'etale quotient of a compact complex torus. Moreover, we establish a characterization of torus quotients using the vanishing of the first two Chern classes which is valid for any compact complex $n$-folds of algebraic dimension at least $n-1$. We prove that on a general hypersurface in $\mathbb{P}^N$ of degree $d$ and dimension at least $2$, if an arithmetically Cohen-Macaulay (ACM) bundle $E$ and its dual have small regularity, then any non-trivial Hodge class in $H^{n}(X, E\otimes\Omega^n_X)$, $n = \lfloor\frac{N-1}{2}\rfloor$, produces a trivial direct summand of $E$. As a consequence, we prove that there is no universal Ulrich bundle on the family of smooth hypersurfaces of degree $d\geq 3$ and dimension at least $4$. Let $G$ be a semi-simple simply connected algebraic group over the field $\mathbb{C}$ of complex numbers. Let $T$ be a maximal torus of $G,$ and let $W$ be the Weyl group of $G$ with respect to $T$. Let $Z(w,\, \underline{i})$ be the Bott-Samelson-Demazure-Hansen variety corresponding to a tuple $\underline{i}$ associated to a reduced expression of an element $w \,\in\, W.$ We prove that for the tuple $\underline{i}$ associated to any reduced expression of a minuscule Weyl group element $w,$ the anti-canonical line bundle on $Z(w,\,\underline{i})$ is globally generated. As consequence, we prove that $Z(w,\,\underline{i})$ is weak Fano. Assume that $G$ is a simple algebraic group whose type is different from $A_2.$ Let $S\,=\,\{\alpha_{1},\,\cdots,\,\alpha_{n}\}$ be the set of simple roots. In the paper "The Second cohomology of nilpotent orbits in classical Lie algebras, Kyoto J. Math. 60 (2020), no. 2, 717-799" by I. Biswas, P. Chatterjee, and C. Maity, computable explicit descriptions of the second and first cohomology groups of a general homogeneous space of a Lie group are given, extending an earlier result in "On the exactness of Kostant-Kirillov form and the second cohomology of nilpotent orbits, Internat. J. Math. 23 (2012), no. 8, 1250086" by I. Biswas and P. Chatterjee. They turned out to be crucial in our computations related to the cohomology of nilpotent orbits, as done in the above two papers. Here we describe the third and fourth cohomologies of a general homogeneous space along the line mentioned above. We also draw various consequences of our main results in numerous special settings. In particular, we obtain an interesting invariant by showing that for a large class of homogeneous spaces, the difference between the third and fourth Betti numbers coincides with the difference in the numbers of simple factors of the ambient group and the associated closed subgroup., Comment: 43 pages

A moduli space ${\mathcal N}$ of stable parabolic vector bundles, of rank $r$ and parabolic degree zero, on a $n$-pointed curve has two naturally occurring holomorphic $T^*{\mathcal N}$--torsors over it. One of them is given by the moduli space of pairs of the form $(E_*, D)$, where $E_* \in {\mathcal N}$ and $D$ is a connection on $E_*$. This $T^*{\mathcal N}$--torsor has a $C^\infty$ section that sends any $E_* \in {\mathcal N}$ to the unique connection on it with unitary monodromy. The other $T^*{\mathcal N}$--torsor is given by the sheaf of holomorphic connections on a theta line bundle over ${\mathcal N}$. This $T^*{\mathcal N}$--torsor also has a $C^\infty$ section given by the Hermitian structure on the theta bundle constructed by Quillen. We prove that these two $T^*{\mathcal N}$--torsors are isomorphic by a canonical holomorphic map. We study Seshadri constants of certain ample vector bundles on projective varieties. Our main motivation is the following question: Under what conditions are the Seshadri constants of ample vector bundles at least 1 at all points of the variety. We exhibit some conditions under which this question has an affirmative answer. We primarily consider ample bundles on projective spaces and Hirzebruch surfaces. Classical communication plays a crucial role to distinguish locally a class of quantum states. Despite considerable advances, we have very little knowledge about the number of measurement and communication rounds needed to implement a discrimination task by local quantum operations and classical communications (in short, LOCC). In this letter, we are able to show the relation between round numbers with the local discrimination of a set of pure bipartite orthogonal quantum states. To demonstrate the possible strong dependence on the round numbers, we consider a class of orthogonal product states in $d\otimes d$, which require at least $2d-2$ round of classical communications. Curiously the round number can be reduced to $d$ by the assistance of one-ebit of entanglement as resource and can be reduced further by assistance of more entanglement. We are also able to show that the number of LOCC rounds needed for a discrimination task may depend on the amount of entanglement assistances., Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures, revtex, comments welcome

Let $X$ be a compact connected Riemann surface of genus $g$, with $g\, \geq\,2$, and let $\xi$ be a holomorphic line bundle on $X$ with $\xi^{\otimes 2}\,=\, {\mathcal O}_X$. Fix a theta characteristic $\mathbb L$ on $X$. Let ${\mathcal M}_X(r,\xi)$ be the moduli space of stable vector bundles $E$ on $X$ of rank $r$ such that $\bigwedge^r E\,=\, \xi$ and $H^0(X,\, E\otimes{\mathbb L})\,=\, 0$. Consider the quotient of ${\mathcal M}_X(r,\xi)$ by the involution given by $E\, \longmapsto\, E^*$. We construct an algebraic morphism from this quotient to the moduli space of ${\rm SL}(r,{\mathbb C})$ opers on $X$. Since $\dim {\mathcal M}_X(r,\xi)$ coincides with the dimension of the moduli space of ${\rm SL}(r,{\mathbb C})$ opers, it is natural to ask about the injectivity and surjectivity of this map., Comment: Final version
