Abstract

The article reports on the successful test of Saber, an advanced 155mm precision projectile from ATK at Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona. Saber was fired from a 155mm cannon, using the post powerful charge U.S. forces use, Zone-5. Previous tests demonstrated the effectiveness of the Saber inertial navigation system and Global Positioning System guidance. The U.S. Army plans an upgrade for its Excalibur program, and the low cost Saber is a potential candidate for the Block 1B upgrade.
