The article discusses the report "The Vision for Civil Engineering in 2025, " prepared by the American Society for Civil Engineers. The Summit on the Future of Civil Engineering held in June 2006 in Lansdowne, Virginia established a global vision for the future of civil engineering addressing all levels and facets of the civil engineering community. Topics addressed in the report include sustainable practices and design, global demand for environmental security and restoration, research agenda for nanoscience, nanotechnology and biotechnology applications and changes in engineering education.
