This is not only due to the common research goal which is to examine visual metaphor within the linguistic backbone of the current state of knowledge about verbal metaphor, but also to the shared definition of visual metaphor as a concept that is strongly anchored on the "anomaly hypothesis". Given that image schemas provide the concrete basis for conceptual metaphors, and these metaphors are argued to be manifested in visual images, it would be appropriate to think that the theme of embodiment is also intrinsically related to the latter. On the one hand, it convincingly offers a vigorous theoretical model for analysing a type of metaphor which has received significantly less attention in CMT, but on the other it falls rather short in providing a satisfying answer as to how that other type of metaphor, for which traditional conceptual metaphor has been renowned, can be analysed in visual images. Group sentiment analysis in today's era is influencing many applications. Sentiment recognition is applicable for individuals, and group as well as crowd. This paper aims to highlight the ongoing present research scenario on perceived group sentiment analysis. The paper provides a brief overview of the strengths and weaknesses of well-known group sentiment analysis approaches. These approaches are broadly split into two basic categories: top-down and bottom-up approaches. A combination of top-down and bottom-up approaches is found superior in performance. This comprehensive review also discusses the available dataset with taxonomic representation and the importance of fusion techniques in group emotion recognition. This paper also narrates the novel attempt to demarcate the group emotion recognition approaches into the categories evolved by the influence of machine learning and deep learning at the feature extraction level and at the classification level.
