The article offers the author's insights on the involvement of her ancestors on slavery and the portrait of her great-great great-grandfather Samuel Fales, who was an alderman in Boston, Massachusetts and an eminent merchant. The author discussed the involvement of Fales family in slave trading prosecution, the role of Bristol in Rhode Island on the slave trade, and the name of her daughter Bristol which came from a slave port.
