The article reports on the threat posed by treatment-resistant fungal infections aside from coronavirus. Outbreaks at hospitals of such infections have been reported worldwide, with 90 percent caused by Candida auris. The first antifungal treatment was discovered in 1950 but its efficacy was hit and miss. In the late 1960s, azoles was introduced. Since 2009, cases of Candida auris infections have been reported in over 30 countries such as Spain and Great Britain.
